myjobismum Congratulations on the birth of Naomi There are a few babies coming by surprise and fast too I can't imagine missing being PG at the moment but I'm sure I will

bethoo · 02/10/2008 18:11

hello everyone, i have yet to catch up on the thread but will catch up later.
sadly no sign of imminent labour here! have a feeling she is going to be late though i have tried to induce in the bedroom! my back is so bad i can barely walk it takes ages to get anywhere!
it is depressing coming on this thread and seeong all the new births though i am happy for you all i am !! wish it was me!

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 18:28

This is going to sound a bit daft but does anyone elses tummy ever seem to go into a spasm and get stuck in a BH for ages?
Today, some of the BHs seem to go forever

Aubergenie · 02/10/2008 19:07

Thanks for the link ajm. It seems from doing a bit of reading that my BP right on the edge of going into hypertension. I'll just have to try and relax and hope it doesn't go any higher...

Can't answer you about the spasms I'm afraid, as I'm barely having any BHs. Convinced this baby's never going to come...

alicet · 02/10/2008 19:35

Hello ladies!

Just a quick hello and good luck from the Oct 2007 postnatal thread...

My gorgeous little boy Adam (ds2) was born this time last year and the Oct 2007 girls have been a lifeline.

Hope you're all enjoying similar amounts of support and good luck / congratulations to those due / arrived!

xxxx

rowanmac · 02/10/2008 19:38

hasnava I've been feeling like that for 10 days now and no baby, can't remember last time.
Managed town and haircut. Epic BH in M&S, no!! but am home in one piece. As much as I want this baby I do not wish to go into labour in the ready meals section of Marks.

jenwa · 02/10/2008 19:43

07mumstheword due same day as you and getting those simular feelings. Also was it you who was saying about their MIL being present at the birth or at least in the hospital?? If so whats happened about that??

myjob glad all going well. Its funny we all moaning about are sypmtoms and you missing pregnancy! Sure we will all feel like that once baby is out and not getting any sleep

bethoo Back pain from pregnancy or trying to induce things???!!!!!
I take it your new partner is not scared about what is going on inside and what is about to happen, he seems only too willing to help . Does your ex know about your current partner? Bet he will be jealous and bet you never want to go back either

DH just gone to get take away. We need a stress free eve. Still not any clearer re his job, think he will be ok in the long run but at the mo he is sooo stressed and desperate for baby to stay put although if he was carrying it I am sure he would want it out at at least 5 weeks!!!!!

ajm dont appear to be getting BH, sometimes get some cramping under bump. I know it sounds daft but wondered if because of my unattached tummy muscles the cramps are no all over??!! Maybe yours are the real thing??

bigmouthstrikesagain · 02/10/2008 21:01

Good luck to all now we are getting so close. Congrats to those lucky ladies with their babies.

I have had a 38 week check up and the Midwife has freaked me out by going on about 'awkward' 3rd babies, stop start progress, false alarms and ultra fast labour! Dh works in London and it takes him 11/2 hours to get home (trains allowing) and so he is worried that he won't get back home in time if he is at work when I go into labour - but he can't work from home every day for the next 2 weeks or so - I really don't want to do it without him.

eeek.

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 21:02

Hello due date buddy Jenwa It wasn't me saying about MIL being at the birth (thank goodness I'm sure she wouldn't want to be) in fact my inlaws are off to Las Vegas for 10 days on Sunday I wouldn't want them there at the birth but would love them to be around they are great. They've told me not to have this baby whilst they are gone but what will be will be and I want it out

Bethoo I didn't want to appear nosey and glad Jenwa asked questions I was wondering about your ex dp and if he is leaving you to be happy I'm so glad it's working out for you with new dp and it adds another dimension to this thread

The usual nightime backache has set in and off to bed soon. My Mum is visiting tomorrow (she only lives 30 mins away) to come and see where DD goes to pre-school incase I call her in school hours so I will cook a nice lunch and have some Gran, Mum and Daughter time

Still thinking of you Star and anyone else who has gone AWOL

hansnava · 02/10/2008 21:03

rowanmac i know how u feel. my waters broke first with dd so i dread going out the house now
i have to go shopping tomorrow and im scared my waters are going to break in the middle of the shop.

my dp just phoned to tell me a bloke from work told him to give me a couple of glasses of wine a hot bath then to have gentle sex.
he said do this a next day baby will be born. apparently the blokes mum swears by it

heather1980 · 02/10/2008 21:14

my mil was there at the birth of DD as she works at the hospital, and came down to see me when i was in labour and never left!!!
i'm having a HB this time

heather1980 · 02/10/2008 21:16

oh and she even took DH out to lunch as he looked hungry and tired as he'd been up all night with me! er no he went to bed at 1am coz he was doing my head in and got up at 7am when i was ready to go to the hospital. i was the one who had no sleep

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 21:22

Heather fancy MIL popping in but taking DH to lunch I hope they brought you back a sarnie or a chocolate bar

Hansnava Hope your waters hold on in the shop

Sambrads Are you about? Did MW send you off to hospital or are you at home waiting? Thinking of you and looking forward to an update

1sttimer80 · 02/10/2008 21:23

Hi all,

quick question... when timing contractions, is the interval between contractions calculated as the difference in start times of each contraction, or the difference between the end time of the first and the start time of the second?

Sorry if I've confused everyone !!!

heather1980 · 02/10/2008 21:29

mtw- no they didn't bring me anything back! i was starving as well.

twinklytoes · 02/10/2008 21:29

evening all. glad to see things are moving on for everyone. congrats to all the new births.

looks like star's ds will be making an impromptu arrival at the baby shower on saturday

myjob - I still want to be pregnant too. have't adjusted to my early arrival yet, despite him being so gorgeous and cuddly. I so wanted to be part of the is this labour or not conversations.

all well here. ds sleeps, eats, poos well!!!! health visitor been and ds weighed in at 8lb 1/2oz on wednesday - he'd put a 1lb on in 7 days! not adjusting to looking after 3 though, starting to panic about next week when dh goes back to work.

CSWS - just wondering do you want someone to keep the stats up to date when you go into labour? am up for keeping check till you are back at the pc.

twinklytoes · 02/10/2008 21:31

end time of first and start time of second is what I'd measure. theres an online timer for contractions somewhere on the net but not sure where it is.

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 21:32

Heather bloody cheek

1sttimer80 Sorry I don't know as never had to time them last labour. Someone with the knowledge will be around soon.

I can't go to bed as addicted to MN and can't press the log off button

1sttimer80 · 02/10/2008 21:40

Twinklytoes that's what I thoguht! But somewhere I read that really it should be the start times that should be measured... at this rate it doesn't seem to make much of a difference but just curious.

Unfortunately my PC is stuck in the box room with nothing much else, and I don't fancy being stuck here measuring my irregular contractions because it's going to drive me mad!!

I know I'm going to be well past my due date at this rate!!!!
