I was so uncomfy last night, feel really swollen down there like a head is pushing its way out then woke up this am with the worst back ache ever, all my right side was sooo sore and I could not move, had to ease my way up the bed to a sitting position. Pain went from right hip up back and down leg and in to groin and bottom of tummy, was sooo scared it was back labour as it hurt soooooooo much. DH woke up really concerned as I could not move and he had very important meeting today! He was great though but after awhile it started to ease off and I took some paracetamol DH offered to go and get them but actually the walk/struggle downstairs helped. I think my back must have locked or something after the difficulty in turning in bed all night. Am now just throbbing down below and not sure if its veins, head or anything else.
Offered to drive my mum to a shopping centre tomorrow about 30/45 mins away then thought actaully I wont be able to walk around after driving as back kills so we just popping to another town a little closer. I feel guilty but would hate to get there and struggle about with her and DD and for something to happen there
sambrads fingers crossed for you.

Hoping star all ok.

jenwa · 02/10/2008 09:45

Also last night went and kissed DD daughter before I went to bed and wacked my tummy right on hte end of her wooden bed guard, bloody hell it hurt! Baby had hiccups straight after and was leaping about, obvioulsy it was ok but bloody hell it hurt. Keep walking in to things!!

Aubergenie · 02/10/2008 09:46

Sambrads and Rosebury - the show and the tightenings sound very promising (not that I've got a clue)! Hopefully if things don't get going on their own today the sweep will start them off, Sambrads.

Nothing doing here so I'm a bit jealous. Hardly any BHs or anything. The doc said my cervix was favourable when she did the sweep on Monday so I foolishly thought it meant things were about to start. Now I'm worried they're going to want to induce me because of my BP...

Brilliant news about Sander, Lozza

I wonder how Star is getting on.

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 12:08

Sambrads Sounds like things are starting naturally so the sweep should give it a boost... good luck - I hope it works for you.

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 12:10

Rosebury - Sounds promising - fingers crossed for you

Hopefully they'll let Star stay in for a few days as she's a first timer to establish feeding and get used to baby rather than kick her out after 24 hours and throw her in at the deep end.

sambrads · 02/10/2008 12:15

god its so quiet on here today

i think this could be the start of things have been having loads of sharp strong period pains but they are not regular

i also get a strong pushing sensation in my bits like she is pushing on my cervix and a pushing feeling in my bum

thank god i have an appointment tonight as i really dont know whats happening

hedgepig · 02/10/2008 12:18

sambrads those sounds most hopeful signs. I'm getting really bored of this waiting and I'm not even due until Saturday. I'm going to have to do some house work soon I'm so bored!!

SmudgeyDoodle · 02/10/2008 13:07

I agree Sambrads that it all sounds quite promising. How have you done with the cleaning? Very impressed that you are even thinking about it. If you can, see if you can get some rest too. Loulou glad that Sander is doing well. Jenwa I hope you and bump have recovered from your knocks and bruises. DS managed to bang his head twice on his toy box this morning so has two nice lines across his forehead. I seem to have a very busy social diary at the moment so I'm hoping that as I'd have to cancel things that this LO decides it would be fun to come early.

tedmundo · 02/10/2008 13:27

Thanks everyone - yes I am so happy that it no longer is breech. Not sure if it felt like chinese burns though ... although my sister did used to give me some wicked ones when I was a nipper.

So now it is head down, I am going to start all of the nipple tweaking, curries, raspberry leaf tea etc as I just want it OUT now.

I know I sound an ungrateful wench but I am in AGONY now it is the right way round. Pushing sensation on the cervix, pains in my groin, need to pee even more often. I can't handle a possible 4 weeks more of this. Although bp has been 120/90 the last couple of times and with my previous pre-eclampsia I am back on the "watch-list". MW coming on Sat morning to re-do bp so we'll see where it goes from there.

I am now 38 weeks so actually would not care if they induced me tomorrow. It hurt sooooo much but if it meant this pregnancy was over then I would be happy! Just want to get on with having a baby now. I think nature has got the 40 week thing all wrong. It is just too long isn't it?!? Something more like 34 weeks would be better!

Very pleased to hear about the shows and the cramps and the general revving up pangs some of you are having. You go girls!!

rowanmac · 02/10/2008 13:39

Feeling much better today slept for 5 whole undisturbed hours so drove DS to Grandparents and am going to get my haircut. Will pay for it tomorow no doubt but at least i won't look quite so scary in all the photos to be taken of me with LO ( who will be arriving anyday now, isn't that right she says addressing bump).

I keep walking into door handles I think its because I forget how much i stick out

pepperrabbit · 02/10/2008 13:45

sambrads sounds like the midwife may send you straight to hospital! v encouraging.
Bored here too, and I'm not due till next week .
Hope everyone else well.
Midwife this afternoon, local one instead of hospital for the first time since my booking in appt in April!!!! Hope to go through my birth plan as the hospital are always too busy to do mundane things like that.

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 13:55

Wow.. only one page today.. where is everyone.

Been offline for a few hours hosting a chicken pox party. All my local mum friends have heard that DS has chickenpox and descended on us this am. They brought cakes, sarnies and made the tea and 7 under 2's so I've had a relaxing morning except for dealing with DS who is not at him most socialable. They even picked up the toys... I feel thoroughly spoilt.

Sambrads.. good to hear things haven't died out.. maybe today is the day.

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 14:06

Sambrads Still getting those aches and pains still sounding good.

AJM We had a chicken pox party, it's a funny idea but better to get it over and done with. Sounds like your friends really rallied round especially bringing refreshments

Tedmundo I agree about 34 wks but I think that mother nature makes us so big and uncomfortable we are at "that" stage where we are ready to go through the pain of labour....anything to get our babies out

Rowanmac I had a haircut this morning and feel a bit pampered if we go into labour today (unlikely) then we'll be the most glam mums to be

Rosebury Hair cut and housework took priority over new shops......maybe next week.

Hello to everyone else. I'm getting impatient too I'm not due for another 2 wks but hearing of all your labour signs and babies arriving (plus the fact that I'm up to date with my housework) I think I'm ready.

Aubergenie · 02/10/2008 14:10

I've got a question about high BP for those of you who have had it/got it now. Mine took a spike at about 34 weeks, then it went down and now has been high at the last couple of appointments. I put some of this down to white coat syndrome as I had quite a few problems with the first hospital which led to me deciding to change hospitals at 39 weeks and I get myself in a bit of a state every time I have to go in. My urine is clear and I don't have any headaches. visual disturbances etc and it's at the point where they're happy to let me go on as it is, but they're talking about possible induction if it goes any higher. I really want to avoid induction if I can, but obviously don't want to put my baby or myself at any risk. Do any of you have experience of this or know where I can get further information?

My next BP check is tomorrow and unless it's off the scale I don't imagine they'll rush me in, so hopefully this baby will decide to make an appearance over the weekend, but I'd like to inform myself on the pros and cons.

sambrads · 02/10/2008 14:10

just ben to the loo and a load of jelly just came out surely there cant be much more ??

my back is so so sore hopefully when they check me they will say oh your in labour but dont feel that lucky

ds is being so good today i think he knows his mummy is not well also have had no heartburn so she must have dropped down awayfrom my stomach but piles have came out more so she must be pushing on my bum dont know whats worse !!!
thankfully they are not sore !!!

i will die whenshe gives me an internal as all the jelly will be all over her i am sure she has seen it before though

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 14:30

Aubergenie here's a good description of pregnancy induced hypertension which is what they are checking you for. The risks to you would be fitting/stroke if you blood pressure shoots too high in labour.. or the placenta could detach (it has to be really high.. so don't panic!!!)

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 14:34

Sambrads.. they deal with a lot worse than a bit of snotty mucus everyday don't worry.. Being friends with a MW I've heard some funny/yukky stories.. including a midwife trying to examine a labouring woman who was standing and the bag of waters breaking over her head.. MWs checking dilation and babies position, thinking their finger is in babies mouth only to realise a second later that baby is breach and their finger is up babies bottom.. they see all sorts..

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 14:35

besides, if you have been making progress all morning, she might poke around and burst your waters.. that would be worse for her but better for you

ajm200 · 02/10/2008 14:38

Rosebury How are you doing, any progress or are you feeling better?

ronshar · 02/10/2008 15:01

What no babies yet. I had high hopes for Star making an announcement by now.

Sambrads. Midwives look up ladies fanjos everyday. I really wouldnt worry about yours. As long as you are clean, I'm sure she wont even notice the mucus. Lets hope it is all systems go for you. Ask nicely and the midwife might "accidentally" break your waters

More general pains and lots of mucus here. Rubbish!

Good luck to anyone with more promising symptoms.

WombFor1More · 02/10/2008 15:06

Hello everyone, just thought I'd pop on before kids back from school. We have finally decided on a name for the poor bubba! He is now Harvey James

I gave in to dp as I can't stand calling him baby any longer!

No sleep here last night, well not for me anyway as Harvey decided he is a baby that likes to eat every 5mins, nojoke and when not eating he doesn't want to be put down either, has been the same all day today too.

Everything hurts too, esp my poor nips! I am so glad Harvey is most definately our last. As lovely as they are I really don't think I could do all this again.

It's ds1's 7th b'day today so having some family around, am so tired though so hopefully they will leave very quickly!!

No news from Star then?? Hope all is going well and you are holding your new baby now

Sambrands wow sounds like things are definately on the move for you good luck at your appointment and hope to hear of your new arrival when I next get a chance to catch up!

1sttimer80 · 02/10/2008 15:29

Sambrands looks like you may be up next!!

I had a terrible night last night. Woke up at 3, then contractions started at about 4.40 one minute duration every 10 minutes, but then I was sooo tired I thoguht I'd try and sleep after monitoring it for an hour and a bit. Eventually drifted off to sleep.

Got up after a few hours sleep feel them every now and again but nothing much.

Been bouncing on the ball.. but haven;t had a show or anything! .. today is my due date but thinking little one is way too comfortable!

hansnava · 02/10/2008 16:33

hi ladies,
congrats to all the new mummies.
just a quick question. did ne one notice a change with how their body felt the couple of days or so before they went into labour?

im not due til 21st but for the past few days im soo achy. my back hurts my pelvis hurts with the pressure between my legs. i had midwife yesterday and she says baby head down but not engaged but then she said after the first baby they dont often engage till labour starts. im soo tired all the time but still mange to keep waking up through the night.
i dont know if im half hoping it will all be over soon
this pregnancy has gone soo fast and its only really started to bother me this week.

hansnava · 02/10/2008 16:35

good i sound moody[blush}

on the plus side me and dp have finally agreed on names

good luck sambrads

07mumstheword · 02/10/2008 17:23

Hansnava I'm due 20th and been getting very similar aches and pains as you. Not all the time but pressure very low down (loads on my bladder) its seems to get more intense at night maybe because I'm relaxed? I sometimes get a shooting pain in my groin area which stops me in my tracks. You don't sound moody I completely understand we are at the last stages now, soon be holding our LO's.
