wombfor1more I cant believe you have had your baby!!! you only logged off at 9:30 when your DH had cut his ear!!! Well done you and congratulations.

star thinking of you and hoping that baby is coming today for you.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 12:52

Belgo Its amazing how dads can underestimate what DCs can work out. Ours arrives on the 7th and has to be assembled as it is wood, foam, pumps and liners. DH is going to be busy as I'm entitled to a homebirth from midnight and its definately not a job that I want him starting when I'm in labour. Ours has a lockable lid so DS will be kept out but I might let him have the odd swim as it is filtered.

It is all getting very close now.. oh dear.

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 12:58

Belgo LOL at your dd1. I'm having enough problems keeping my ds off my birth ball which is nowhere as exciting as a birth pool

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 13:01

My DS loves the birthball, he likes to stand on my legs and bounce when I'm on it. Yesterday I caught him trying to step from the stool/sidetable onto the top of it so it has been put out of reach now.

emkay · 01/10/2008 14:03

My DD used one of her hair clips to pretend 'blowing up' my birth ball so it now has a slow puncture ...

Congratulations wombfor1more - what lovely news!

ronshar · 01/10/2008 14:55

Emkay you will have to bounce slower.

I wonder how the brave Star is getting on. I hope that baby isnt giving her too much trouble.

emkay · 01/10/2008 15:16

Yes, with my knees ending up near my ears!

Feeling pretty crook today with a completely bunged up nose and all I can think about is how I'm going to labour when I can't actually breathe! Of course I've just BH all day and night, period like cramps and had to empty my bowels. Don't want to cry wolf so trying to ignore it all!

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 15:53

I have decided ignoring all twinges, cramps "signs" is the best way to go too emkay

sambrads · 01/10/2008 16:33

congrats womb thats brill news cant believe you done it with no gas and air

i went shopping today im looking for a lovely snowsuit to bring the baby home in although i had no such luck

star im so proud of you!! you were one of the ladies i was a bit worried about as you were so nervous but you seemed to be coping alot better than i probably will !!!

right ladies need advice on sweep tomorrow!!!!

is it true that it is more effective with second babies???
i am going to tell the mw to do all she can to get me going !!!!!

need to get this baby out starting to think that maybe i cant go into labour myself

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 16:40

sambrads i don't know if a sweep will be more efficient 2nd time around. Logically if you have labored befre your body "knows" what to do so I would imagine that it will do it more efficiently and since your cervix has dilated before it will be more ready to do so again. Worth ago at least.
I didn't labor at all with DS so I don't know what to expect I trying to think of it like a 1st labour but I am getting loads more BH contractions and period cramps than last time so you never know.
It's CSWS due date today were they going to induce her today because of the GD?

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/10/2008 17:08

No - induction on Monday hedgepig, so hoping to go naturally before then.

Wombfor1more I'm impressed that you were able to stay online and give such good advice to Star while in labour and just a few hours from having your Son.

I hope I can stay so calm and in control during my homebirth

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 18:10

OK CSWS I though they were going to induce you on your due date, so its good you have a few more days yet, fingers crossed and sending contraction vibes your way.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/10/2008 18:14

Thanks hedgepig. They had been saying that my due date was the latest I'd be allowed to go, so you didn't imagine it, but because my diet control has been so good they agreed to give me up to a week's grace, and I opted for Monday because it's more convenient with dd's schooldays!

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 18:14

Oh dear, hubby has just had a major strop when he heard that the birthing pool is arriving just hours before I'm allowed my homebirth and will need to be assembled. Oh well, it doesn't take much these days and at least he has an excuse this time..

I spent the whole 2.5 hours that DS was napping, listening to my hypnobirth cds in a lovely, dreamy relaxed state.. and my BP really dropped - so shouldn't complain about being thrown back to reality with a bump

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 18:16

CSWS Good news that they've let you push your induction back a bit. Hope its your turn to go into labour next.. fingers crossed.

rowanmac · 01/10/2008 18:31

I wish I'd logged on last night to take my mind off what was going on here. Congrats womb such a pro. What happened to DHs ear, is it still attached? I hope star is having a straightforward time.

After my lovely well day yesterday I joined the wide awake club at 10pm, got an hours sleep between 1 and 2, woke up dripping sweat, 3 hours of peeing every 30secs, diarrhoea and cramps every 5 mins at 5am but not full on shout out loud contractions. So decided to wait before phoning. Next thing I knew it was an hour later and it had all stopped! My wonderful mother got the bus over at 9 to look after DS and I went back to bed. Feel really hungover but without the pleasure. Poor DS keeps coming over to give me hugs and rub my back to make me feel better like I do when he falls over, hormones being what they are I could cry. I know how ajm must have felt. I can do without pointless pain.

On the plus side I have gots loads of sewing done. We thought DS was going to be an only child (long irrelevant story) so I did a large cross stitch winnie the pooh sampler and beautifully documented his first year of life in a special album, plus the usual baby book. Of course will now have to do same for number 2 so started large cross stitch Beatrix Potter in June aiming to get it finished by second birthday (more realistic this time) Anyway well on the way so may even get for christmas

tedmundo · 01/10/2008 19:05

Hi everyone

Just a quick one to say hello and to congratulate all those new mummies, to cheer on those going through the paces right now and to big up those of us still waiting....

My news is as follows: The 35 week growth scan showed the baby was still breech so I have been having scans each week to check on progress. The short story is I had a successful ECV today and now the baby is the right way round! Hurray!

It was a VERY odd and deeply uncomfortable procedure but over very quickly and the clever, marvellous consultant managed to do it first time. He oiled up my tummy with baby oil (no - he didn't even buy me dinner first ...), put a hand on the baby's bum, a hand on the baby's head and ... PUSHED! Just at the point I thought I was going to have to ask him to stop, I felt it shift and then it was in the correct position.

So if any of you are breech out there - the ECV is definately worth a try. I can now progress with this as a normal pregnancy and, all being well, a natural birth. Happy days.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 19:26

Rowan What an awful night. BH's that make you feel bad and do nothing are the worst. Maybe it was just a trial run and it will kick off for real soon, but hopefully not before you've got some rest.

ted Congratulations on the successful ECV. Hope you tummy isn't too tender and bruised now.

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/10/2008 19:43

Fab news tedmundo!

Hugs to all those of you really feeling it at the moment, and labour vibes to those needing them (though keeping a few back for myself ).

Hoping for news from star soon, but guessing that she might want a night in hospital to get used to baby before she returns.

sambrads · 01/10/2008 19:44

4andnotout · 01/10/2008 19:44

WOMB41MORE Congratulations What a brilliant weight with no pain relief, STAR6 hope everything is going smoothly and painlessly for you!
I had my 36 week midwife check today, i have been prescribed antibiotics for an abcyss in my leg which has now given me thrush And the mw said im anemic so im on iron tablets im pretty much rattling when i walk!

07mumstheword · 01/10/2008 20:31

I'm so frustrated as the computer has been down for some reason all day and I haven't been able to log on

Wombfor1more Many congratulations so it was really happening for you last night

Star Hope all is well for you brave lady .

Well we are all due our babies this month so we should get some exciting news over the next few weeks good luck everyone

ronshar · 01/10/2008 21:03

Still no news from Star. I really hope all is well. She should be holding baby by now

Tedmundo, excellent news for you. Baby oil on a first date! Shocking!

Sambrads. You may need to have a couple of sweeps for it to work. I did for DD2. Just make sure the midwife has a good rumage around. Also if you can take a good walk after that may help.
Good luck my love.

CSWS will the midwife give you a sweep before Monday if you hope to start off yourself?

I am getting really jealous of all the lucky ladies who have their babies already. Is it Ekka who went in today for C-Section? I hope she is all ok.
