Just logged back on: wow, lots happening.

Womb: CONGRATULATIONS on your little boy!!!! Glad to hear it all went well and he's healthy!

star: thinking of you. I'm sure it'll all go well. I'm going in tomorrow at 2.30pm here. I'll log on as soon as I can once I'm out of hospital. Take good care!

star6 · 01/10/2008 10:29

breathing through this mouthpiece that I stole from the gas and air pump is working really well, too!!! So glad I asked for that... I figured if she wouldn't give me the gas and air to bring with me, I could at least have the mouthpiece
Just called hospital and they said come in at 11.30... promised I could go to delivery suite instead of the drug free zone this time...
dh very impressed with pain tolerance... me too. Been talking to my best friend a lot and she's the most calming influence so that's great... she's been timing contractions for me on the phone
Getting shaky at the idea of them examining me again, but hopefully it will me epidural and then I won't feel the future examinations (those are worse than the contractions!!).

sparklesandnowinefor4weeks · 01/10/2008 10:55

Just logged back on after the weekend

Womb Congratulations to you!! xx

Start Good Luck for today, just think you'll be holding your little baby soon

Hope everyone else is doing ok

Still 3 weeks to go here

sparklesandnowinefor4weeks · 01/10/2008 10:56

Star not Start

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 10:56

Star good luck!! The exams that they do without the speculum are not as uncomfortable. Just ask them to wait until between contractions..

Take care

Aubergenie · 01/10/2008 10:58

Congratulations Wombfor1more! That was really quick!

Hang on in there Star. Sounds like you're doing brilliantly. I hope you get the pain relief you want soon.

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 10:58

Ooo OIhave been missing all this excitement. STAR if you are still at home good luck it will be fine.
wombfor1more congratulations that is fantastic news.

star6 · 01/10/2008 11:03

off to hospital now... hopefully won't be sent home again Not getting hopes up. I'd be happy to stay home all day if they gave me a gas and air machine to tote around with me who knew that would be so great?? I wonder if it's bad for your brain, though...

sparklesandnowinefor4weeks · 01/10/2008 11:04

Good Luck

ronshar · 01/10/2008 11:08

Cant believe I have missed all the excitement.

Congratulations Wombfor1more. A baby boy and look at that weight. Good you got your HB. Hope all is well.

Star, my love you are being so very very brave. I am sitting here all proud of you and how well you are doing. Especially as you are so worried about it all. I hope you get to read this before you go back to the hospital.
Remember, each time you get a pain focus on it and tell yourself it is only happening in order to help your beautiful little baby make its way into the world.
Your baby is obviously in a hurry to meet its wonderful parents and so you must concentrate on helping baby find its way out.

Good luck and dont worry it will all be ok for you. Lots of love.

mum2jakeyroo · 01/10/2008 11:09

Congrats to everyone who has had their babies. Good luck Star. I thought things were starting last night or had done too much. had a flood in kitchen yesterday and washing machine is broke. so stressed. Then last night was getting lots of pains but died off about 3pm this morning. Still getting some pains at the min but my thighs are aching - what does that mean?

usuallytooshytochat · 01/10/2008 11:11

Congratulations Wombfor1more! Hopefully star next time you write will be post-natal Oct 08!
I'm due tomorrow and have day off from toddler today - what would you do with your potentially last baby free day for a while?

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/10/2008 11:15

Oh I've prob missed you now star, but good luck! Can't wait to read all about it.

Congratulations wombfor1more! Hope everyone is feeling well at home!

ronshar · 01/10/2008 11:16

Ha ha I am spending my last potential child free day waiting for the bloody Health Visitor to turn up. Like I need to be shown the red book again. I already have two children who have not had any major illness/accidents yet. The eldest is 8 so I must be getting something right. Oh well they have to do thier jobs, but why do I have to waste my day waiting for them?

I also have that achy thigh thing. I have been getting proper pains low down in pelvis since last night but nothing regular or long enough to do anything but annoy me

Feel a bit grumpy to be honest.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 11:17

usuallytooshytochat You've definately got to have some me time and pampering.. long soak in the bath.. haircut, facial and manicure if you can book one as such short notice or even a mummy massage if they do them where you are..

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 11:18

usuallytoshy I would have a long bath and a nice lunch in a grown up place you can't get a buggy into.

good luck star (((((big waves)))))))

mum2jakeyroo · 01/10/2008 11:19

Thats how i feel ronshar as if something was happening but not enough to do anything. I need a child free day.

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 11:22

mumtojakeyroo When I had my big false alarm at the weekend, some of the pains made my back, pelvis and upper thighs hurt so maybe its just baby pressing down or maybe things are slowly starting.

Ronshar Sorry you missing out on your child free day. My health visitor retired before DS was born but still came and introduced herself.. that was a major waste of time.. Sorry your pains last night didn't do anything... they are a nuisance aren't they.

Just had my birthing pool delivery confirmed for the 7th. Had to move it back a week as it was originally due to arrive tomorrow but i can't use it for a week and it is a 7' wide hexagon so have nowhere to store it and can't face clearing out the dining room until the weekend.

usuallytooshytochat · 01/10/2008 11:29

Off for a leisurely coffee (actually can't drink it anymore as too bad heartburn!), so will have hot milk with caramel - yum! And to browse the bookshop for books to read while breastfeeding. Will try to find a non-buggy friendly cafe!

ajm200 · 01/10/2008 11:35

Sounds like a great plan. Hope the weather is a good where you are as it is here.. Enjoy your day.

hedgepig · 01/10/2008 11:45

8ronshar* why is the HV coming before the baby has arrived? Here they don't come until you have passed out of mw care after the birth.
I'm fed up I have "twinged" something in my back and I can hardly walk. I think it is an injury rather than a hopeful sign I can't shift this cold either moan moan moan moan moan (sorry)

ToThrottleABlackBird · 01/10/2008 11:54

Hope you dont get sent home again star.

Congrats Wombfor1more

2weeks and 5 days left here

ronshar · 01/10/2008 12:11

I take it all back. My HV was lovely. Not condescending or patronising or anything. She was fab about breast feeding support and gave me two different numbers to phone if I need help.
Hedgepig, down here the HV always come round before baby is born to introduce and give you the babies red book and also to go through Immunisations, hearing test, guthrie test etc. It is really quite helpful if first time and things have changed since I had DD2 4 years ago. They do a cool new hearing test with computer thingy, which if shows any defect the baby will be seen and fitted with hearing aid within 6-8 weeks of diagnosis.
Sorry going on about geeky stuff again.

She also asked me if I wanted to become a HV when I go back to work I must look like one

belgo · 01/10/2008 12:16

ajm - we've picked up the inflatable birthing pool we are hiring (it's called 'pool in a box' I think)- I'm due next tuesday - so dh decided to inflate it in our bedroom, then disguise it using a large sheet so that the girls wouldn't notice it . Needless to say I've spent the last couple of days trying to keep dd1 out of it - she immediately saw through the disguise and is very excited at there being a swimming pool in the bedroom - she just can't understand why it's not filled with water!

SmudgeyDoodle · 01/10/2008 12:41

What an exciting evening. Congratulations Wombfor1more -glad you are enjoying your DS and got the birth you wanted. Star I hope it's all happening for you now and that things go well. We'll wait to hear news. Nothing happening here - 3 weeks to go! DS in bed and I'm faffing. Usually2shy I hope you had a really leisurely day and feel refreshed.
