Ahhhhh really annoyed, posted long thread and it disappeared! Will try again!

Went to ball pit with DD and my mum today after Playgroup as DD was hyper. Whilst there a little boy came in (about 2yrs old, he was def younger than DD who turns 3 on 8th Oct) They were happily playing but no signs of his parents anywhere. Pub very long and ball pit opposite end of pub to bar and entrance. DD ran after the boy at one point from ball pit to bar and I had to chase her with my pregnant belly across the pub and could not at any point see who this boy was with. Anyway about 20 mins after playing 2 men came in ball pit (one his dad and one a teenager) with a beer, put it on the table and turned and said to me "just going out for a cigarette if you can just keep an eye on him"!!! He dissappeared and never told his son. When they returned he never said thanks and sat down talking, his son then dissappeared and went outside to the playground and at no point did his father go after him, he seemed unaware where his son had gone but never got up. Another bloke joined them and then they all got up and walked out back towards the bar or outside the front whilst his son still outside in the playground. I was watching his son as was concerned if he fell off climbing frame as was climbing up it. He never went to tell his son where he was just walked off and his son appeared back inside and played with DD until we went home. His father was sat back by the bar by the main entrance. I was so shocked as thought I would never leave DD in a ball pit and go outside and never ask someone to keep an eye on her who I never knew as you never know who to trust. The boy did not seem bothered though so maybe he used to just running about freely.

star would love to live in your world, would be soooo much fun but dont think DH would cope as I am already a bit loopy . Bless you though re giving birth, you will be fine and you will be an excellent mother and nothing will happen as you will be monitored all the time

jenwa · 30/09/2008 17:27

kookie congrats on your birth. Sorry it was a difficult one. I had a 3rd degree tear with DD. You must take arnica tablets, they are great for healing and I bathed in oils twice a day but cant remember which ones! Think one was tea tree and the other lavender. Check with MW.

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 17:30

Aubergenie Have further proof that 2 left feet are a bunch of crooks as if either of us need it.. after being told by them that my buggy would take 12 weeks to arrive from the manufacturers we ordered one from Mothercare yesterday. Today, the manufacturers called to find out if it is ok to deliver tomorrow!! So where do TLF get 12 weeks from..

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 17:53

ajm Ha! Yes, funnily enough we managed to get our buggy delivered from Mothercare within a couple of days. It just arrived yesterday! If Mothercare can do it, I don't see why TLF can't manage to do the same (or at least state on their website that it's out of stock).

Brilliant news on your home birth BTW!

07mumstheword · 30/09/2008 17:56

AJM Two Left Feet are awful I had to wait weeks and weeks for a car seat and no one would help by phone it all had to be via e-mail which was useless as no one would reply. I will never use them again.

Congratualtions AQ & Kookie Bethoo So pleased you've had a lovely weekend. New DP sounds great.

Jenwa Some people don't deserve children how dare he! I know men tend to be less worriers than us Mum's but that is beyond ridiculous

I've forgotten who else I was going to respond to because there has been so much to catch up on in one day.

rowanmac · 30/09/2008 18:31

CSWS Thanks for the thoughts, I would hope by the time ARM considers becoming Mrs ARS she would be out of the playground!

jenwa Its funny though how times have changed, as a child I was regularly parked in the beer garden with my chicken in a basket and bottle of coke with a straw whilst grown ups inside although I would have been at least 4. In that particular pub the beer garden was across the (v quiet) road! I wouldn't do that now with my kids. That was in the 70's.

jenwa · 30/09/2008 19:12

Its mad, rowanmac I def agree times changed, I remember being allowed out in the street (although older) to play but I would now not really know what age is right as there are so many horror stories.
I was just shocked that some people dont worry. I obviously looked like he could trust me but whos to say someone else may have just picked his child up and walked off! 07mumstheword I know that DH worries more about DD then me, but think most men are less worriers like you say. My DH would prob have been playing in the ball pit with her but I think thats because men can't often do more than 1 thing at a time but I def know that although DH smokes he would def not have had one and would go all day without one if it meant not leaving DD on her own (mental note, must let him have DD more often all day .

rowanmac on the subject of initials and names, I think it is soooo hard as whatever you call your child someone seems to shorten or lenghten or change and the initials always can spell something or a new product can come out with those initials. i think go for what you like and ARM is sooo much better than some people. My frinds little boy has BJ in his name and My DD is LEW. My brother in laws first inital and beginning of surname spells Twat!!!!! I thought I was safe with my DD's name until my sister changed it to a sexual disease! There will always be something.

DH just called and said looks like his company may go bust tomorrow . Really not going to stress as sure he will either be kept on under new management or he will find another job !!!!

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 20:02

Bethoo I noticed you can have the seat 2 heights on the front not sure how that quite works put with baby underneath space wise so shall have to see. As for the material/being able to see baby thing I have wondered about this too

On the others it's very enclosed but the Vibe seems to be missing that bit. All the ones I have seen have been like this so am presuming it's just part of the new design. Ho hum, took me forever to work it all out anyway lol! I am not good with these things!!!

Still out of all the doubles we looked at this was by far the best and most practical for us.

Enjoy your vibe

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 20:10

Congratulations Kookie well done and what a lovely name you have given your dd

Jenwa I can't believe people are stupid enough to do things like that, especially with such a young child! Sounds like dad is far more interested in the booze than his son And wonder just how many he had before he left to drive them home

Perky I know how you feel!! Sending many labour vibes your way. Hope all that ball bouncing is doing some good. I have literally tidied house from top to bottom today and I now have the worst backache ever and bh are killing me! Oh well not long to go, good luck if anything gets moving tonight

jenwa · 30/09/2008 20:22

wombfor1more god, I had not even thought about how much he would have drunk
I was thinking that maybe his wife/partner was at home enjoying child free time and had no idea what a naff dad he was (if they still together)!!! The little boy approached us and told us he had recently cracked his head on the floor after falling of the sofa, I thought poor little boy, now thinking he was prob just left alone , although DD did fall off the sofa the other day with me sat next to her but that was because she was trying to roll to stroke the dog!!! I could not cath her quick enough! She is fine though.

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:12

HELP ME I THINK MY WATERS JUST BROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:13

anyone awake??? anyone anyone???? freaking out. so scared.

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 21:14

Oooh star don't freak out!! Calm down and tell us what has happened

jenwa · 30/09/2008 21:15

star am here
What happened, Was it much??

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:17

It made my underwear all wet and some of my pajama trousers too called hosp and they said wear a pad and call back in 1 hour and tell them about it

jenwa · 30/09/2008 21:17

If it is clear and not smelly it is usually fine, if it has blood or very coloured and smells bad can be sign of infection.
Now, dont panic but have a look if you have not already thrown your pants away (sorry if TMI) and just be calm and you can call the hospital and let them know if you are worried.

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:18

They said if waters did break and I don't go into labour, they will have to induce me in 24 hours!!! I don't want to be induced!

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 21:20

you have done right thing calling hospital so now you just wait

You will prob keep losing more but as Jen says if it's clear then it's ok.

And I was just about to post that I seem to be having an awful lot of "BH"

Tonight might be it for us both then.

Just relax and go with the flow. Don't panic, this is what your body has been gearing upto for the last 9months. You will be fine

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:21

They said to call back in one hour. It's clear and not smelly but I'm not ready to have the baby yet.

jenwa · 30/09/2008 21:21

Well done for calling hosp. Just stay calm things may start happening soon. Sorry as my waters were broken for me when I had DD so not sure how long after this that things happen but do as hosp says and keep pad in. Also you may want to call someone from your work and let them know as if things happen quickly you may not get chance!
Are you not glad you never asked for an internal today, you would have thought that that had started this!

star6 · 30/09/2008 21:22

I don't have any BH I don't have any contractions or pain... nothing!! Just the wetness. Something is wrong with me!

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 21:24

Unfortunately there isn't an awful lot you can do about not being ready now. What is not ready?? Practical things or just not mentally ready? xx

jenwa · 30/09/2008 21:24

star you have to be ready its happening you will be fine. Isyour DH with you?

jenwa · 30/09/2008 21:26

wombfor1more wow you may be starting too....oh its exciting tonight, I was just about to log off!

star nothing is wrong with you. Waters can break first then contractions can come later, things happen differently in different people/labour. Just go with your body. Just wait now until any more waters come!
