I think those initials are ok rowanmac, but my concern would be if the girl later married someone with a surname beginning with S.

Welcome back MrsBish. How have you been?

Please could I be unculled ?

Not getting on here very often these days as DH has finally moved his office to the other end of the house and my laptop can no longer pick up the wireless signal but I do still waddle down a couple of times a week and have a look to see what's going on.

Had a scan yesterday (36wks) and DS is estimated at 8lb 5oz already. Also have alot of fluid so now going to day assessment unit 3 times a week to monitor him. Just want him out !

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 13:38

Hello beaufies. Will add you back on to next update. In the meantime, you need to buy one of these.

ronshar · 30/09/2008 14:12

Yeah AQ. How big were those babies? Congratulations and I hope all is well for you and the twins.

I am hopeing to get just one baby of that size.

How lucky are you girls getting sweeps before your due dates. I have always been told they will only be effective if at least 41 weeks and even then it is hit and miss. I know I had 2 for DD2. It is normal to get some bleeding as they are opening your cervix and poking at your membranes! Something is bound to protest.

Happy due date ladies. So that is a few of you officially late now! No news from Popsy yet. She is relaxing

ronshar · 30/09/2008 14:16

What I actually came on to say was that I had a phone call from the Maternity Allowance people today. Only been waiting since beginning of August to hear from them. Apparently they are almost through the backlog of claims and I should be getting some cash in the next week or so.
I cant remember who else was waiting but things are moving finally.

star6 · 30/09/2008 14:41

ajm sorry to hear about your DS!! I hope all is ok. Poor little guy and poor you!

just got back from MW. She's so lovely and nice. So much better than the GP!!! She answered all of my questions and was very reassuring... despite my floods of ridiculous tears about the very real and imminent birth. She didn't take the fundal height measurement this time and didn't tell me how much engaged the baby is or anything... maybe she just didn't want to freak me out? My iron level is 9.1 - that's not so bad, right? It's been worse.
I handed her a urine sample when I walked in and (TMI I know) there was something red floating around in it along with little bits of white... I was shaking in the waiting area just thinking about what it could be... a piece of the baby? (you would not BELIEVE what goes through my mind!!!) Anyway, she said it was just "tissue" from cervix or elsewhere and absolutely normal and fine. I love her.

kookiegoddess · 30/09/2008 15:03

Hi there, haven't been on for quite a while as last weeks of pregnancy were a bit stressful, but am pleased to announced the birth of my daughter Reya Marie, born on 20th Sept at 4.42am by induction due to OC. Only had to have 2 pessaries and ARM, no syntocinon thank goodness! Labour approx 12 hrs with an epidural needed as I went from 4 cm to 8cm in 1 1/2 hrs... not fun. 3rd degree tear which is healing well tho still achy/sore. Labour very intense and me very noisy, whole of St George's must have heard me trying to match the pain...

We are both recovering well, tho my milk flow isn't quite as flowy as I'd like it to be, I'm enjoying lots of lovely cuddles - she's asleep on my lap as I type!

Best of luck to you all and if you haven't given birth yet, my top tip is get a sports bottle with a straw you can guzzle from and get a stress ball or juggling balls to squeeze!

star6 · 30/09/2008 15:14

Congratulations kookiegoddess!!

ronshar · 30/09/2008 15:21

Excellent news Kookiegoddess. A beautiful little girl. A third degree tear. No wonder you havent been on the computer. Glad everything is going ok for you and Reya.

Star pleased you have finally had a good midwife. There are lots out there. Did she have a feel of your bump at all? If she did have a look in your notes and it will be written down there. 9.1 is good enough. Should be 12, so not too bad.

star6 · 30/09/2008 15:30

Oh, and there IS a hospital number in my notes... she showed me... it's just a bit tough to find - you have to find the right page and lift some stapled papers up to find it. But it's there She didn't write down any measurements but she did feel the bump and the head. what does "ceph" mean?

bethoo · 30/09/2008 15:47

womb4onemore question ref the vibe, did you notice the seat can be put on two levels on top and bigger questionj is that on other p&ts the baby is completely hidden when underneath but i set mine up and even with top seat on you can still see baby iykwim? is there an extra bit of material you gave to buy separately or am i missing something?

bethoo · 30/09/2008 15:56

star my little worrier ceph means head so baby is prob head down. your mw will have put what she found when prodding you in your notes, i always get home and read what she has been scribbling. my baby is now 3/5 engaged thioug hshe said she had not dropped into pelvis, i thought that is what engaged meant!
i am still in bed clothes as going to have a bath as seeing new dp later, making lasagna and he has suggested taking the day off tomorrow so we can do something together. just hope the weather is a bit better!

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 16:00

Congratulations Kookiegoddess!! Sounds like you had a tough time, but well done!

Good news about your MW appointment Star - I'm glad you managed to get your questions answered. Ceph means "cephalic" and refers to the way the baby is lying. It means baby is head down.

Pistachio, I'm glad I'm not the only sweaty betty! It must be some crazy hormonal thing.

star6 · 30/09/2008 16:03

Thanks, bethoo I'm so happy you have a new dp who is treating you so much better!! Good for you!

It says under presentation "ceph" under relation to brin in 1/5's it says "Eng" (engaged!). under F.H. it says "FHHR", then under that it says, "./c sonicaid", under oedema, "nil" and "NAD" under protein/sugar and "80/50" under B.P.
Oh goodness.. She wrote under notes the following: "All well. Very anxious re: delivery. Tearful ++"

star6 · 30/09/2008 16:05

oh and there is nothing written under height of fundus or U/S.

bethoo · 30/09/2008 16:07

star that all sounds good, nothign was deteected in your urine, baby is head down, bp is good and fetal heart rate was heard (fhhr). remember if anything is not as it should be you would be the first to know!

my mw said my ds had a hard bum so was worried she was in breech but apparatnly what is facing down is smaller so most likely the head!

bethoo · 30/09/2008 16:09

star i did not get my fundal height measured either, i think that at this stage it becomes less accurate what with the baby dropping and becoming engaged, as long as heart is good and fetal movements are being felt that is what they go by now. and now babies start to grow at different rates. your fundal measurements have been fine up to now so all should be ok in final weeks.

star6 · 30/09/2008 16:11

LOL bethoo . I certainly would hope the MW can tell the difference between head and bum!!
fhhr fetal heart rate heard - of course!!! and ceph = cephallic... where is my head?????? Thanks for putting up with this silliness, having a bit of a laugh at myself now
Anyone want to spend a day in star6's mind? It's like a fun rollercoaster

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 16:15

Congratulations kookie. How much did she weigh?

OP posts:
Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 16:16

Star - FHHR means Fetal Heartbeat Heard Regular,
Nil under Oedema means you have no swelling and NAD under protein/sugar means that your urine is clear.

Sorry to hear you're feeling so worried about the delivery. I've had quite a few wobbles recently too. It IS really scary isn't it. I did a hypnobirthing course and keep listening to the CD to try and get myself in the right mind set. I don't know if it's your kind of thing, but there are a few clips on You Tube that have positive birthing affirmations that you could listen to. I wonder if they would help?

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 16:17

Keep X posting with you Bethoo! Must learn to type faster...

star6 · 30/09/2008 16:22

AJM's CD is a godsend. I listen to it before bed every night and it keeps the nightmares away! I'll check out the youtube as well. Thanks
I admitted to the mw today that I'm paranoid about dying in childbirth. since I lost my mother as a teenager it's something I just can't shake - I don't want my baby to grow up without a mother. She reassured me that this was highly unlikely with the technology we have available today.

star6 · 30/09/2008 16:24

And LOL csws about rowanmac's ARM marrying an "S"!!
I think ARM and ARG are fine for initials. My dad's spell PET. He loves that.

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 17:06

Congratulations Kookiegoddess

I've just had a visit from the maternity assistant as I'm not allowed near pregnant women while there's chickenpox in the house.
My BP is down a bit and only a trace of protein in my urine so they have delivered my HB kit. Can have baby at home from next Wednesday onwards but have to have another set of tests between now and then.

Star I agree with Aubergenie that some positive birth affirmations would be great for you. Didn't put my track of them onto your CD as I don't like to breech copyright. You should be able to find a recorded track to listen to or watch but if not there are some here that you can read to yourself a couple of times a day here You can also get DH to read them to you when your contractions start..

perkypopsy · 30/09/2008 17:07

Hi All, been to see midwife today - officially 40+1 - grrrrr - didnn't realise would be so disappointed - am sat here eating pineapple and twiddling nipples on her recommendations - apparently have to get at it at least twice tonight lucky DH (or unlucky if you had to man handle me .
ronny thnaks for the update re MA - I'm awaiting mine too - thought they'd forgotten about me...
Congrats Accessorizequeen and kookie - am watching everyone fly by as I sit at the top of the list...off to do some more ball bouncing....
