Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hedgepig · 30/09/2008 06:49

morning, the heating has come on so I am nice an warm now .
Star the mw delving around could start something off if you are getting close so I would avoid it if you want to stay pg a few more weeks. Also there is a risk of unnecessarily introducing an infection.

Went to hosp yesterday and they have efficiently booked my induction date for 40+12, for some reason it really upset me, I have 2 1/2 weeks before then but I so want a normal delivery this time it's like the clock has stated ticking. The Dr had a little look at my cervix to see if it was open enough to break my waters in 2 1/2 weeks! and he said they would probably be able to do that. I have had a bit of a bleed overnight is this normal ???

hedgepig · 30/09/2008 07:06

I was just scanning the twins thread and accessorizequeen seems to have had her twins .

star6 · 30/09/2008 07:21

Congrats to accessorizequeen!!!!!
hedgepig thanks for that - that helps a lot. I'll try to say no to the examination then. Did the dr looking at your cervix cause the bleeding?
One thing my MW did tell me was that if there is any bleeding at all, that I should call them. But gave me no number! ha ha! I tend to be a bit over cautious, but I think you're supposed to call if any bleeding at all. But I had a lot of random bleeding episodes earlier on, so maybe she wasn't talking about closer to term... sorry, not much help, hopefully someone else more knowledgeable about all of this will come along soon.

sambrads · 30/09/2008 07:59

hedgeig its normal to have some bleeding after they check your cervix i had quite alot after getting one done with ds so dont worry

bethoo nice to see your still here honey i was getting worried aout ya .

today is my DUE DAY but no baby why is it you build yourself up for this day and its always such a let down

ah well means i can get some house work done today .

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 08:08

Morning everyone, wow you've all been busy overnight again.

Congratulations to accessorizequeen Hedgepig I think a bit of light spotting, show or cramping can be normal after an internal exam. If it is any more than a few spots of blood, I'd check with the MW though. It could also be a sign that things are starting too.... You can always refuse the induction and insist on monitoring past 42 weeks to check on the placenta function if you really want to do this yourself.

Ekka When DS was born, he took a big feed immediately but was very sleepy and didn't bother again for nearly 12 hours. After 4 hours I asked a MW who told me he'd feed when ready but when he did want a feed he was starving and proceeded to scream non-stop for hours. He didn't settle again until we got home. This time round I won't leave baby more that 4 hours without at least trying to BF

Star I definately think a long chat with the MW will help you and ease some of your worries. I hope it all goes well..

I had a silly row with DH and he slept on the sofa all night so I had the bed to myself and I slept for 12 hours [shock). I only got up once (thought my bladder would burst when I stood up though). He's still sulking and has gone to work on his bike this am. Probably not the best day for it as it is pouring with rain and I've an appt to check for Pre-Eclampsia this PM. He'll take 2.5hrs to get back if I need him.

Still torn between asking for an induction if the PE signs are still there or waiting to do this naturally... don't know what to do

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 08:09

Happy due date Sambrads..

sambrads · 30/09/2008 08:23

ajm not good about your dh hopefully you will sort things out as im sure you were lonely in bed

i would not risk your health or baby health if you are showing signs of PE no matter how much i would do it naturally but its your choice ajm and you will do the right thing for you

not going to sit in today think i will drive myself mad waiting

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 08:26

I'm off out for most of the day too.. playgroup, BF bra shopping, then hospital. I'll check in later to see how you're doing and let you know what happens this PM. Can't have an induction today or tomorrow as my DF who is looking after DS has a big birthday today and needs tomorrow to recover..

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 08:32

Congratulations to Accessorizequeen!!

And happy due date to Sambrads and me!
Your doctor?s appointment sounds like an absolute joke. Are you feeling any better today Sambrads?

I was convinced my sweep was doing something last night as I had all sorts of strange aches and pains and felt really peculiar. Went off to bed feeling quite excited, then woke up in the early hours absolutely dripping in sweat (sorry!) which is really unusual for me. Fell back to sleep again and woke up this morning feeling completely normal again. Boo. I suspect there could be a few more false alarms before the real thing kicks off.

Hedgepig ? I know what you mean about the clock ticking. Yesterday the doctor was talking about booking my induction for 40+11 but I managed to put her off until next week. I know they need to get these things booked in advance and the likelihood is that things will happen on their own before then, but it feels like an unnecessary pressure at this point. Re the bleed ? the doc warned me that I could spot a little after the sweep. Could that be where your bleeding has come from? She did say if it was fresh blood, as opposed to spotting, that I should give them a call. Maybe you should, to be on the safe side?

Good luck with your appointment today ajm. If things haven?t changed, will they let you hold on for the home birth or do you think they?ll push for you to be induced? It?s so hard to know what to do for the best isn?t it.

Welcome back Bethoo. Glad to hear your love life is going well!

bethoo · 30/09/2008 09:31

got my p&t vibe yesterday! bigger than i thought but still nice. cant wait to use it!

Morning ladies. Been for reflexology this morning, but thought I'd better sign in before someone reports me as awol!

Welcome back bethoo!

Off to find details of aq's birth...

OP posts:
SmudgeyDoodle · 30/09/2008 10:42

Congrats AQ - hope you're all ok and you got the birth you wanted. Also congrats to Loulou - hope you are recovering well. Can't belive there have been so few babies before Oct - they must all be very patient.
NOt a lot happening here. Booked in for sweep day before due date but I think I'll see how I'm feeling and maybe postpone it. REally ought to go and have a shower and do some ironing (I never used to iron anything Star becasue DH did his own when I was working. Now I do it all but still the bare minimum and def no baby clothes!)
Have good days everyone...

WombFor1More · 30/09/2008 10:52

Happy due date sambrands & aubergenie

Fingers crossed your lo's aren't too laid back and put in an apperance soon!

bethoo sounds like you have had a lovely weekend I'm so jealous! Can't wait to see a pic of your new hunk. I've got the Vibe too.Have been using it just for dd for a couple of weeks and it's lovely. Can't wait to put bubba in it now.

Congrats AQ hope all went well. Will see if I can go find details!

Well now officially overdue. I'm not too fussed, still not organised enough for baby yet! Think I'm in denial that I am actually having another baby. Well I'm sure reality will hit soon

thanks for your reassurance on the bleeding girls, I just spoke to mw and she said it was normal so long as it is light and not bright red.
AJM I know I can refuse and induction but by then I will just want the baby out, I'm thinking positively that it is irrelevant any way cos I will not be that late.

rach010 · 30/09/2008 11:15

Hi Ladies

Congrats aq.

Scan confirmed baby still breech so going to see if they can turn it on Friday, what joy! Not looking forward to it 1 bit. If they don't manage to turn it then its a section for me. BOO HOO

star6 · 30/09/2008 12:03

Happy due dates! Someone told me that in some countries they give a due date for 38 weeks! Not sure where... but that sounded like a mean trick!
I have MW appointment in an hour - I left work for half day... so I got to come home for an hour and I feel really weird just being at home mid day and not at school! I feel a bit naughty
Not sure what to do...

ajm200 · 30/09/2008 12:06

Hi all, my week is getting worse.. DS has just come down with a rash the the DR suspects is chicken pox! Got to go back tomorrow to get confirmation as not enough had gone blistery for a firm diagnosis.

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 12:15

Star - I felt like that when I started my mat leave. Put your feet up, you deserve a rest!

star6 · 30/09/2008 12:24

just realized that I can make myself some lunch before appointment!!

Aubergenie · 30/09/2008 12:42

It's really not your week is it ajm. Have you had your own appointment yet? I hope the news is better there.

wombfor1more, how about we swap due dates, you can wait until 17th and get your brood well again and I can get on with having a baby, sounds like a plan.

Midwives are a bit cheesed off with me for cancelling appt to discuss induction. I couldn't have got there yesterday as my weekend gardening set the back and pelvis off badly. They are coming out to check BP again on Fri. Whilst I'm fairly miserable I don't think I can justify early intervention, especially not with a 2 hour spontaneous labour last time. Feeling well today which is fab, I was beginning to forget what it was like. DS at nursery. 2 1/2 hours of peace guilt free!

Trampoline has arrived and its massive, no bouncing until the weekend when the various men can get it together. Slight size miscalculation on my part I suspect.

ekka I have no idea either what to do and i've done it before, I just went with what the MW said and we got there. Brain was too fuddled at time. I suspect I wouldn't leave it longer than 4 hours.

Baby brain here again, keep meaning to ask your thoughts on this. With the names we have chosen this would currently give a girl initials ARM and a boy AGM, is this child cruelty? Middle names for a girl are negotiable for a boy less so as I don't like the G name and its DHs favourite so the compromise was the middle.

AQ congratulations, have just added up weights. Wow.
