Thought I'd better start the thread since a) I've never done it before b) I'm not actually in labour right now c) it'll take all the 9 remaining posts on the previous thread to get the link to this one done correctly!

MissusH YOur birth story was wonderful, I haven't laughed so much in ages, too tired with baby Robyn. I so wish my induction had gone like that, I felt like it was never ending. I hope you weren't scared by the speed, you sound like you took it all in your stride, as we all would like to be able to do. Great name as well.

Big congrats to all you other new mums. To those left waiting get a move on. I am a bit jealous tho I miss being really round and pregnant. Had Robyn in her sling today and it felt great having her back near where she had spent the last 9 months, she emjopyed it as well as she slept really well.

Pidge · 04/10/2008 19:54

Pitufina - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Thought you'd gone a bit quiet. Brilliant news, can't wait to read the full details of Sofia's arrival.

Leogaela - WOW - what a lovely surprise. I've often wondered where you got to. Like the new name. How's ds1 and the twins?

JennyL - I am now completely resigned to lack of kitchen surfaces, and READY for this baby to come now. Our lovely builder is supposedly picking up granite man in person tomorrow and bringing him to the house, which is a guarantee that I will go into labour isn't it! I am not sending him away though. He will just have to work through the background noise!

plusonemore .... oooooh another arrival imminent. Good luck for tomorrow.

Thanks to mamamufin and debs75 for popping in to see us. I'm still quite enjoying being pregnant I must say. I know what is to come, and I feel this bit is a bit like the joy of Christmas Eve when you still have the big excitement ahead of you and it's a really special time.

So good luck to JennyL and Sagecat - I guess we'd better produce these babies some time hadn't we .

Hope you don't mind, just adding ds name

Afternoon all! Nothing exciting to report from here - we took the girls swimming this morning, which was lovely, and I even fitted in 20 lengths in between bobbing about in the shallow end. Now just scoffing the final chocolate energy bar I made earlier in the week and contemplating a temporary lack of baked goods in the pidge household, so I think I might conjur up a chocolate cake later.

Had a weird night - I'm usually a champion sleeper, but for some reason I was awake from 11.15 till gone 3am. Just wide awake. I did have about 4 or 5 biggish contractions during that time, but nothing regular. I was glad of my MP3 player to keep me entertained whilst dp snoozed!

Inevitably there is no sign of the granite worksurfaces man again. Our lovely builder went in person to meet him as arranged at his workshop, sat there in his van for 2 hours, but the bloke never showed up. So that's the end of him - we're going to look for another supplier. Or rather our builder is. And he's going to have to try to get the money we've handed over back from him. It's a sign of how nice our builder is that he's taking on all of that, rather than passing it on to us.

Any baby action from the other September survivors?? Wonder how plusone is getting on with her induction.

sagecat · 05/10/2008 14:30

Afternoon gals, still got a cold, my heads all full and fuzzy. No other action happening on the baby front - it may be nice for it to wait until i feel less fuzzy headed though. DH got the cold too so we are not a healthy bunch at present.

If my bump gets any lower however it will be around my knees - i keep thinking it cannot possibly get any further south but it seems to manage.

Hopefully plusonemore is getting on ok and the induction is working - she even may have her babe by now if its quick!

i'm getting worried about the birth again (as much as i want this babe out) all that pain again! I've never forgotton it from the first time - think i will go and get a hug from DH and try not to cry - sorry if bringing you all down too

Pidge · 05/10/2008 14:38

sagecat - poor, poor you. I reckon the baby will stay put till you're healthy. First time round I got a cold on my due date, then dp got it and I went into labour the first day we were both healthy. Second time round dp had some terrible post viral fatigue thing and was off work for 3 weeks, and my waters broke the day he had gone in to work for 2 hours for the first time. I really think sometimes your body knows when a good time is. Fingers crossed.

I'm also feeling very nervous about the birth now. Last time I was sort of weirdly looking forward to doing it again and seeing if I could do it better. This time I'm definitely more apprehensive. I keep reading my Ina May Gaskin to raise my spirits!

jennylindinha · 05/10/2008 14:48

Afternoon ladies, what a miserable day! Poor DSD is sitting here in her Pjs again and looking fed up! We made her help with the cleaning yesterday but took her out for pizza for dinner...

Anyway, a little news here it looks like cleaning the stairs may have paid off - woke up at 4.30am with some quite painful crampy contractions and they've continued ever since. Not exactly coming thick and fast but every 10-15mins or so! I've also had a bit of a show so maybe things are going to start soon

Sage - I too am now getting a bit nervous about the birth and the pain! Got to get the Tens out and have a go soon i think, as we've not really tried it and I don't want to suddenly need it and not know what to do! Hope your cold gets better anyway and I guess we just have to try and stay calm and relaxed. It's hard when you are nervous and excited at the same time.

Pidge, well done with all your activity! And shame about the granite man, hope your builder sorts it out soon. Good idea about the mp3 too, if things haven't progressed before bedtime I think I'll be lying there plugged in myself...

Pidge · 05/10/2008 15:04

JennyL - ooooh, I'm excited now. That's exactly how my first labour started. Definitely sounds like things are happening for you. Good luck. And try to get lots of rest whilst you can.

I had downloaded a bunch of radio podcasts onto my MP3 player to keep me entertained in early labour, and now I've listened to them all! Ooops.

Right, am off to think chocolate cake recipes to cheer me up on this grotty weather day ...

jennylindinha · 05/10/2008 15:14

Mmmm, may do some choco baking whilst I still can!

Pidge · 05/10/2008 19:45

Wonder how you're getting on!! I ended up making Nigella's chocolate marsala cake and it is utterly delicious. And despite the marsala and very, very dark chocolate icing both my girls had seconds at supper! Guess they've got their mother's tastebuds.

Meanwhile, after all the kitchen hoo-ha, dp declared he is now ready for this baby to arrive. Great! Now all I need to do is actually go into labour ...

sagecat · 06/10/2008 08:33

Oooooooooooooooh! Waters have broken this morning!!!!!!!!!

Oh well never liked that dressing-gown anyway .

Pidge · 06/10/2008 08:36

sagecat brilliant, brilliant news. Very very excited now.

JennyL - any news of your contractions, or do you have your baby yet, I wonder ...

I'm off with dd2 to a friend's for the morning, will check in again after lunch. I'm going to be left talking to myself aren't I!!

MoonlightMcKenzie · 06/10/2008 08:43

sagecat Good luck

mumiyumi · 06/10/2008 09:35

I took Flumpy and Munki off the days left, as they must have had their babies by now.

Not a squeak from JennyL or Sagecat - so I'm betting babies are born, or well in the process of being born! And plusonemore - your induction was Sunday, so you will definitely be otherwise engaged too.

I can't believe it ... I really am the last one left! Having spent the last 2 weeks willing the baby to stay put so we can get the kitchen done, I have now given up on finishing the kitchen first and have instructed bump that I am good and ready for meeting baby. But I think baby bump is now playing hardball and is going to tease us a bit by staying put a while longer. I certainly don't feel like someone about to go into labour.

Might have to wander over to the october thread to find someone to talk to !!!

MoonlightMcKenzie · 06/10/2008 16:07

Pidge Don't forget to put the dust sheets over the furiture and sweep the floor! LOL

We've saved you a nice cosy armchair by the fire on the Postnatal thread, with a buffet of all the restricted or banned food and drink. We'll have a party indeed when you manage to join us!

blimey · 06/10/2008 16:11

good luck pidge, hope it happens for you soon!!
does a lady called Margaret still do singing at horniman on fridays?

MunkiMom · 06/10/2008 18:43

HELLOOOO! i'm here! i'm here!
Sorry couldn't reply sooner, gals! i've only just returned home today.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

As planned, we had a lovely boy thursday, Oct 2nd ((i knew one of you were gonna go on the same date as me!)) We thought he was to be called Toby Linus ((the middle name is something special to dh, so i've left it )) But now, we're having doubts on the first name..so watch this space ((or the post natal thread)) for an update. ;)

OHH!!! how could i have forgotten! the best part, his weight!!!
11 lbs 4 oz!!!!!
((although i don't think i hold the record of our thread...blimey still reigns supreme!))

He's lovely! and was the talk of the maternity unit of the hospital (being the biggest they've had in a while).

but i have to cut the story short for now...and i'll be totally honest with you all. since i've been home this afternoon, i have been sooo weepy and sad . i have missed my ds1 sooooooo much and now that ds2 is home, i feel like i can't and/or won't have enough time for ds1. i'm sure its just the first day home blues or something. i hope this passes and the family dynamic falls delightfully into place.

will be back later on tonight with a little bit of the birthing action.

plusonemore · 06/10/2008 19:38

Hi all, sorry tried to do this from hospital but it wouldnt wotrk!

Had my beautiful baby boy yesterday at 6.46pm! Went in for induction at 8, pessary at 9, walk round hospital, fry up, painful contractions by 2pm, checked at half 2, 1cm dilated but fully effaced (was 3cm long) so broke waters. 20 mins later (!!!!) it was too much for me and i asked for an epidural!!! Felt like such a wimp at the time as had planned to use tens and gas and air and yoga breathing but as it turned out i was justified! Had epidural about 4.30pm, only worked on 1 side but better than nothing. I had been saying i had been feeling loads of pressure like it was the head but they ignored me. Eventually checked at about 6pm and was ready to go (i think had been like that for a while) 45 mins later there was my boy, just as the epidural was wearing off. lovely midwife made it a really calm and quiet birth and left us for almost an hour of skin to skin before weighing etc. Onto the ward bout 11pm, he fed all night and home by 11am! No stitches, feel fine, would reccomend induction as you can labour through the day and not miss a nights sleep.

Oh...he's called Alfie Thomas and weighed 8lb exactly.

Want to thank foxy in particular for all the bf tips, its really helped me to get it right so far this time. Goos luck to anyone who's left

MunkiMom · 06/10/2008 20:21

Oh Pidge - hope you're not feeling too lonely here!

I'm a bit that you're having a nice long Mat leave before tho' - I fancied one of those and I started the smae time of you and have a 2 week old!!

Also soon you'll have the youngest baby on the postnatal thread and we'll all be jealous as ours won't be newborns any more

blimey · 06/10/2008 21:28

congratulations munkimom and plusonemore!!!
I would have been happy for you to have stolen my crown munkimom as I don't like having such big babies - agony in late preg for me!!

I worried about ds1 when I had ds2 but it all works out - I guess you are on time to be having baby blues? it will pass...
