Thought I'd better start the thread since a) I've never done it before b) I'm not actually in labour right now c) it'll take all the 9 remaining posts on the previous thread to get the link to this one done correctly!

OP posts:

plusonemore · 03/10/2008 16:36

hi all had a lovely day out for lunch with a friend whilst our kids played in the ball pool! More show (it hasnt been bloody does that matter?), the odd braxton but nothing else yet. Am keeping fingers crossed for action over the weekend

Pidge how exciting to be finally getting it finished. Where's Pitufina today?

plusonemore · 03/10/2008 16:40

Wow Missus what a fab story! I didnt know inductions could be so good, you were obviously really ready, you just hadnt told your cervix that!! LOLOLOLOL at you giving birth like a dog doing a wee!!!!!

Pidge · 03/10/2008 17:47

MissusH - fabulous, fabulous story. Well done you. Have to confess your dd2's name is very, very high up our girl's list (currently it's number 1!!), so there might well be another one along soon ... !

ninja - you are totally right, it is mind over matter with this baby, although it's still not later than dd1 or dd2, so I guess my body is partly built this way too! The worktops will be black, with a very, very slight grey speckle. Can't believe I'm thinking about granite at a time like this!! Anyway, will believe it when the bloke actually turns up. Then just tiling and a few bits and bobs to finish off, HOORAY!

Am off to tend to my chicken casserole - I feebled out of the family swim tonight. So dd1 has gone to her lesson, with dp and dd2 planning a paddle about too on the understanding that I would have supper ready for their return. I'd better look lively!

blimey · 03/10/2008 17:48

good luck everyone still waiting, hope it goes very well!
and congratulations missusH!!!

sagecat · 03/10/2008 17:54

MissusH oh congratulations on the arrival of Esme Rose (lovely name). I was very encouraged by your induction birth story. Glad to hear she is BF well too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/10/2008 18:02

What a fab story MissusH. Gives me hope for my induction on Monday. Congratulations.

jennylindinha · 03/10/2008 18:20

Ooh, great story MissusH - well done! If they could guarantee an induction like that every time I don't think I'd be so worried about one... Love the name Esme too!

Pidge, glad your granite man has turned up although I'm intrigued to know why he went AWOL for 3 nights! Sounds like you're almost there and then you can let the baby out.

DP was talking to his mum in Brazil just now, and she is so freaked out by the idea of a homebirth! I think they have an 85% caesarian rate over there or something ridiculous so they are obviously just not used to the idea, but they do keep checking about how near the hospital is and is our car full of petrol etc... Bless.

foxytocin · 03/10/2008 18:43

Great story MissusH. I also didn't have time for pain relief and dd2 has been breastfeeding like a champ since she was 20 mins old.

MissusH · 03/10/2008 19:57

Thanks everyone - it was all a bit surreal tbh!

Pidge you have great taste and so does Talia cos dd1 is Anna!!

Congrats on the arrivals while I was away, and good luck to everyone still waiting

Am off to change Esme now. DH has just had to take dd1 to A&E with an asthma attack so I reckon he'll be a while

Pidge · 03/10/2008 21:10

MissusH - hope your dd1 is ok - I'm asthmatic myself so I know how scary that can be. Hope they're back with you by the time you read this.

We may yet change our minds on the name front - we are so dithery this time. There are about 3 girls names in the running, and dp just changed his mind on the boy names - so we have about 2 in play there too at the moment. We need this baby to come and make our minds up! Although another 24 hours would be fine with me if Mr Granite can do his stuff tomorrow!

JennyL - yup I seem to remember Brazil has the highest CS rate in the world, so they're probably not particularly in tune with the homebirth idea! It's funny living where we do, because it's just so run of the mill. Of the 6 other mums I know locally who've given birth this year 4 were home births, which has got to be pretty unusual statistics given the national averages.

ninja · 03/10/2008 21:21

Congratulations MissusH on the arrival of Esme Rose. Another great story.

Pidge I have to confess that I too have granite worktops and I love them. Definitely work delaying a baby for

plusonemore · 03/10/2008 22:56

its all been quite quiet here, lots of little bits of show, hardly any braxtons now and baby has been quite quiet too. i cant stand the am i arent i much longer! Hope everyones ok

sagecat · 04/10/2008 12:00

Morning all, anyone still there? Plusonemore how's it going?

I've had a couple of very ouchy contractions this morning but no sign of a show or anything else, so we shall see how it goes.

jennylindinha · 04/10/2008 12:36

Morning Sage, or rather afternoon! Having a lazy day today so far... Got some cleaning to do though, the stairs (we haved lots and they are really dusty). I'm hoping it will start things off. Had loads of achy/crampy BH last night that were getting quite regular but nothing doing.

Ah well, everything crossed. Do you think that it's quiet on here today 'cos everyone is in labour or they are just fed up of waiting and don't want to talk about it?!

sagecat · 04/10/2008 12:49

hi jennyl weekends tend to be quiet but it could be just the 2 of us left . I think that if i'm the last then i'm just jumping to the postnatal thread babe or not

Pidge · 04/10/2008 15:01

Hullooo - I'm still here!!! Have had one of those days where I haven't had 2 minutes to relax so far. Dp was at his open day all morning. I got a call from a couple on my homebirth team wanting to know if they could have my pool, as the wife thought she might go into labour soon - slightly stressful, I did say they could have mine, but was very relieved when 40 minutes later they found another one! In the meantime, dd1 managed to get herself dressed in her goggles and still wet swimming costume from yesterday and was sitting in the bath with the water running full pelt and very very hot , fortunately the water she was sitting in was still only warm when I found her.

Then just as I jumped in the shower the doorbell went and it was a parcel which needed signing for, so I dripped my way there to sign for it. Dd1, dd2 and I settled down for 5 minutes to do homework and then the midwife arrived. All seems fine, but she was failing to find the heartbeat when the phone went, dds went to answer it, dropped it on the floor and broke it! Then the doorbell went and it was a friend and her daughter etc etc.

And so the morning went on. It culminated in dd2 and her little friend somehow locating a bottle warmer, which I was given and have never used and was about to freecycle, and they managed to plug it in, empty (it's supposed to be filled with water) and turn it on. Thank goodness I found them before they set fire to themselves or the house.

Anyway, suffice to say no baby!! Also no sign of Mr Granite Worksurfaces. Plus ca change. I have now told the baby it has my permission to emerge at any time, because frankly it's been very patient being told to stay put all this while. So we will see if psychology plays any role.

The midwife was happy not to see me again until next Saturday. And she did eventually find the heartbeat (after putting me in 3 different positions!!).

Now I'm planning a relaxing afternoon ...

Leoloopydoo · 04/10/2008 15:17

Pidge(Leogaela here) , I keep popping my head in to see if your dc3 has arrived yet! I may not manage again for a few days, but will be thinking about you! L xxx

Also good luck to all the other patiently waiting september mums!

Pitufina · 04/10/2008 16:05

Hello! I have an announcement to make! he he.
Sofia was born on thursday 2nd at 15.30pm weighing 9lb!!!!!!!!!! All good. I will come back and tell you what happened later.

jennylindinha · 04/10/2008 16:08

Well, cleaned the stairs and they still look blimmin dirty. Can't wait til we finish all the DIY and get them painted/carpeted properly (but that ain't gonna be soon...) Plus no signs of baby, although housework does bring on the braxton hicks!

Pidge, sounds like a bit of a crazy morning for you and still no granite... I'd just resign yourself to it not coming on time and guaranteed he will turn up when you are in transition... Am though 'cos we wanted to use granite but too expensive and a bit silly in a first floor flat really - We needed 4 metres as well so I dunno how they would have got it upstairs. In the end we went for a really nice shiny black laminate which has sparkly bits in it and it does look lovely, I have to say.

Hope everyone is relaxed and ready to get these babies out soon.

mamamufin · 04/10/2008 16:32

Hi guys
Congratulations to the new arrivals.
Thinking of those of you ready to pop still.
Well, I am nearly two weeks into it and feel as though I have come thru it. Euey is very contented and happy and sleeps and feeds perfectly . It is alot easier second time round but I am finding keeping ontop of the housework and washing a challenge. I also nearly cry everytime I go out in the car and need to put the pram up. I have the bug chameleon and find it a real struggle. So get practising before baby arrives.
Take care guys xx

sagecat · 04/10/2008 17:22

pitufina congratulations on baby Sophia, can't wait to hear your birth story.

jennylindinha · 04/10/2008 17:34

Doh, cross-posted with you Pitufina and logged off before I saw your post! Congratulations!!! Yay, more babies Looking forward to hearing the full story...

plusonemore · 04/10/2008 17:56

Congrats Pitufina was wondering where you'd gone to!

Went in for more monitoring today as baby was quiet yesterday and even quieter this morning (only one movement up til 12)So went on the monitors again and of course baby starts moving ok and heart ok. But they say lack of movements can be a warning sign so combined with me being overdue and ds becomming distressed i am being induced tomorrow! Going in at 8am. Am so relieved and excited. Will let you all know asap. Good luck last survivors!!!

jennylindinha · 04/10/2008 18:05

Oh gosh plusone, I hope that everything kicks off between now and 8am anyway, but at least you know you'll see that baby very soon! Good luck!
