Thought I'd better start the thread since a) I've never done it before b) I'm not actually in labour right now c) it'll take all the 9 remaining posts on the previous thread to get the link to this one done correctly!

Well done Treadmill, great story!

Pidge · 01/10/2008 15:06

Treadmill - brilliant story, have just posted on your thread.

No baby action here - just some high fat, "energy bars" baking in the oven, which will be topped with chocolate later. Yum.

Oh, and a lovely swim at lunchtime, which surely has earned me the right to eat choco-coated energy bars right?!

Must dash - school run time already!

plusonemore · 01/10/2008 15:10

congrats treadmill how lovely cant wait for the name

munki it must all be a worry for you but soooo exciting too! As for all those consent forms...it makes me a bit teary just thinking about all the things that could go wrong. I only have to look at that man on Xfactor who lost his wife and i start crying hysterically! Its the pride of britain awards tonight, i'm gonna be exhausted from all the crying.
You will be absolutely fine and soon be holding your beautiful baby cant wait to hear

Pidge · 01/10/2008 16:22

Hot off the press from the pidge kitchen - our builder reckons all the wall rebuilding and redecorating will be done by Saturday (if I can get the baby to stay put that long!).

He was also hugely apologetic about the granite worksurfaces problem - basically the guy doing it has gone AWOL - his wife says he hasn't been home for 2 nights. So obviously some terrible crisis going on there. So .... the kitchen can't get finished unless he miraculously reappears, or we get another supplier. But I'm kind of resigned to that happening after the baby arrives now. We can live with our camp kitchen in the living room a bit longer now we're so used to it!

Right, I'm off to apply chocolate to my oat/raisin/apricot base, which I then have to chill for an hour before I'm allowed to scoff!

plusonemore · 01/10/2008 16:24

good news- you'll have to post some pictures of the kitchen when its finished!

jennylindinha · 01/10/2008 18:19

Good news about the kitchen Pidge (not so good about the granite man and his wife...)!

I have just got back from the scan at the hospital and 'scuse my french but small baby, my arse - they reckon it's 7lbs 11oz!!! They tried to book me in for an induction and I refused then the woman didn't know what to do, bless her. She obviously has not come accross expectant management before.

I need to book a mw apt for Monday/Tuesday and see what happens. Hope this baby makes a move by the end of next week!

MunkiMom · 01/10/2008 18:28

haa! jenny!
i would luv the next one to be 7lb something! ((i think these days the average baby is 8lbs-nearly 9!!)) maybe she shouldve use the phrase: lovely size baby.

i just know i'm gonna have a ten pounder to announce in the next few days!

jennylindinha · 01/10/2008 18:32

Ah, but a 10-pounder sounds so impressive Munki! I'm just happy that they didn't think it was really small and I needed inducing there and then. It's around the 50th centile anyway, so no probs.

ellideb · 01/10/2008 19:04

oops i've short changed myself by 2 1/2 ozs!

JennyL - that's a bang on average baby!! Hooray. I'd be thrilled with one of those. Dd1 was 6 lb 13, dd2 was 8lb 4, so I'm hoping this one isn't a similar increase in size, or I'm in trouble at 5'4" and rather small myself! The midwife reckons it's not huge anyway, phew.

Here's some labour vibes for you anyway - I reckon you'll see some action before the weekend is out ...

Pidge · 01/10/2008 19:12

Congratulations Treadmillmom and Wombfor1more enjoy your babies.

Well went for term appointment and saw the nicest consultant ever, he was fab! Everything fine BP normal/low, baby heart beat etc. So he says that normally they let people go 10-14 days over before recommending induction. So no need to fight them off trying to induce me within the next 7 days . I only wanted to wait 14 days past term before induction anyway. So all booked in for the 13th for induction if needed. He offered a sweep but i said no as last time (with DD) it was the worst thing ever and I had more lasting emotional trauma with that than the birth!

anyway hopfully i won't need it anyway

Pitufina · 02/10/2008 03:22

Morning! Still here! Having contractions and thought I'd try the contraction master.

sagecat · 02/10/2008 07:59

Pitufina - any news? have those contractions kept going? best of luck.

I had a few ouchy contraction pains last night but all gone now

plusonemore · 02/10/2008 08:16

Morning all. I also had loads of braxton hicks last night, although a tad more painful than normal. But they were so irregular- every 3 mins then 5 then 7 then 4 then 11... Had a couple during the night in bed too which is a first for me. So did the deed with dh this morning in a bid to get things going again and am now rocking and figure 8 ing on my ball! Pleeeeeeeease let it be today for us all!!!!!!!!!!!

plusonemore · 02/10/2008 10:28

its sooooooooooooooooooooooooo quiet here today!! Am wondering wether to phone and ask community midwife to come and do sweep today or tomorrow instead of monday as planned. They will prob say no tho

jennylindinha · 02/10/2008 10:32

Morning! Still here too... Had loads of braxton hicks too last night plus some cramp-like pains and baby moving around in a really uncomfy way this morning but nowt else!

Am a bit today as no-one seems to know what to do with me now. I was seeing the midwife at my GPs but she can't see me after 40 weeks. I saw Kings yesterday for the growth scan but didn't want to book the induction appt without talking to a midwife and I've just spoken to the Community Midwives who are supposed to be doing my homebirth and no-one knows what I should be doing! Anyway, they said they'll see me on Tuesday for a check-up (I've requested a sweep too!) and I suppose I'd better speak to the usual ANC as well in case I should see someone there. I feel like I'm in a bit of a grey area really. Maybe I'll end up freebirthing

Hope things are happening for you today Pitufina and Plusone. Ooh and I wonder how Munki is today??

plusonemore · 02/10/2008 10:50

Hi jenny its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooo frustrating isnt it? I'm desparate for the whole waters-break-everywhere-followed-immediately-by-strong-and-regular-contractions-and-baby-within-5hou rs pleeeeeease! (But i'd settle for something, anything happening)Fingers crossed one of us will have a baby sometime soon!

Pidge · 02/10/2008 11:00

Morning all - sorry for all those of you desperate for some action. I'm still legs crossed until Saturday afternoon, which will at least mean I can give birth at home without a builder loitering outside! Plus dp gets to attend his open day at school. Though of course if the baby does turn up before then, so be it.

JennyL - that's odd that your GP's midwife can't see you beyond 40 weeks. It's not exactly unusual to go 7-10 days over, or even longer. My GP midwife definitely saw me at 40+5 first time round. The community midwife team should pick up your care if the other midwife won't do it. Which it seems they are doing. They will have their own idea about how late they'll let you go and still do the homebirth, but I can't believe it would remotely be a problem yet. I reckon you still have plenty of time to get that baby out.

I'll be offered a sweep by my homebirth team on Saturday, but I'm going to turn it down. Having done this twice now, I'm still pretty convinced this baby will arrive of its own accord, all in good time and without anyone poking me about!

plusonemore - hope you get that action packed labour soooooooon!

I'm enjoying what could be my last day with both kids in childcare, and no baby! So have made boston beans for our supper (plus some for the freezer) and am half way through making some millionaire's shortbread with the leftover condensed milk from yesterday's energy bars. Might have to freeze today's baking effort, as we're rather overrun with my calorific cookery.

Now I'm going to make myself a small coffee and read my Ina May Gaskin childbirth book for some inspiration! Then swimming as usual at lunchtime. Can't wait.

jennylindinha · 02/10/2008 11:01

Ah bless you plus, I hope you get going right now! I'm not too frustrated - yet...

eandz · 02/10/2008 11:24

hi guys!

jennylindinha · 02/10/2008 11:28

Yes Pidge, it is a bit odd. Anyway, I'd kind of like to see the CMs as I've only ever met some of them twice! I'm sure it won't go to 42 weeks (their cut off point) and amongst my sisters their kids have all been late, up to 10-12 days so I'm not too worried. I guess I'm just a bit anxious 'cos it's my first one.

Well done with all the baking and so on. I'm just trying to order a new fridge/freezer (we don't have a freezer) but all the delivery dates look like possible labour days now so I'm not sure whether to go for it or wait!

Have lunch with some NCT mums/dads/babies today so looking forward to that.

eandz · 02/10/2008 11:35

i'm baking a banana cheesecake today. i won't be eating it, but if husband likes it i'll be happy to share the recipe.
