Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MerryMarigold · 29/09/2008 17:52

ChocO is beating me now. So much for boasting . Pride goes before a fall and all that.

saurus, a nap is a must. i have one for 2 hours every day.

MonkeyMargot · 29/09/2008 18:14

Hello ladies! Hope all those feeling ill ( Obs and Lacks ) are getting better .
Saurus So pleased everything is OK with you. Definitely take it easy (lemon squeezy). And don't you be doing rudies with DH! As MerryM says, all that spunky stuff gets labour started apparently - that's what I learnt at my NCT weekend!
Obs and MerryM - maybe we could arrange a game of pool sometime post-birth? Don't think our big bellies are going to be very condusive to mean pool shots...
BTW - looking forward to the LondonLadiesWotDoTea meet-up this Friday. I think I've lost the thread for that - sorry!
A question - after having done my NCT, I'm now seriously considering a home birth. Has anyone else done one before? ChocO - I believe you are planning one - maybe we can have a chat on Friday.
Just had my check-up with GP. All good. I'm almost 35 weeks!
Put the cot up in the nursery last night - it makes it seem so much more real now! My brother is staying and he keeps referring to it as "Tarquin's room". Makes me laff.

barbareebaa · 29/09/2008 19:00

Hello! Am sorry - haven't read all the chat as have about a week to catch up on My mum came to stay, then dh's mum and then we went to a christening and it's been all go!
Well am going to go back and see what the news is!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/09/2008 19:26

raging colds with perma sneezing (latest count 60 times in the last 30 minutes; DS thinks it's hilarious), lax pelvic floor muscles and late pregnancy DO NOT MIX .

I am having a hot whisky toddy and then going to bed. I feel like shite

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 20:14

Poor Lacks - sending you a virtual blanket and some organge juice. And some spare pants.

Anyone got a clue what to do with these bloody BH contractions? They won't stop and I'm quite tired of them now!

Hey barb and monkey - calm down, ladies, you'll do yourselves an injury! Feet up now!

Tbh, monkey, even the thought of a cup of cocoa and a lie down is a bit too frisky at the mo'! Poor old DH, steam is coming out of his ears. But then I told him about prostaglandins and he went green and backed off . What a life, eh? Now he says he's only pestering me to make me feel desirable (as I sit here in his sweatpants and an old rock t-shirt - mm, classy. I can see why he'd want to).

I'm off to phone my mum, who is insisting on dauly updates after the weekend's excitement. Bless her.

rutho....drink lots and lots and lots of water.

as my MW told me last time; "A thirsty uterus is a painful uterus"

I had hideous BHs from about 33 weeks with DD; I found they were worse if I was thirsty/dehydrated and definately worse in the evenings.

I'm getting them again but they don't seem as bad this time around.

....mind you I don't have a misbehaving cervix!

Dozymare · 30/09/2008 07:05

lacks Love the thought of a "Thirsty Uterus" REALLY made me chuckle!

goodf morning everyone!

mum2becks · 30/09/2008 07:51

Morning everyone!!

Saurus hope the BH's have calmed down for you? When are you due? just wondering as we are both giving birth at the same hospital so how wierd would it be if we were in at the same time!!

lacks hope you managed to get a good rest and are feeling better this morning

monkey great that you now have your cot up, it does make it feel more real doesnt it! What is it that is making you consider a home birth now??

I didnt feel good at all yesterday, terrible back ache and just didnt feel well all day but slept solid for 9 1/2 hours last night (didnt even have to get up for a wee) so feel loads better today!!!

Oblomov · 30/09/2008 08:03

Ha ha at 'thirsty uterus'.

Oblomov · 30/09/2008 08:04

I didn't sleep last night. AT ALL. What is going on with me ?

Oblomov · 30/09/2008 08:22

MonkeyM, you are on for pool. A big cs scar won't stop me 7 balling you

coolkat · 30/09/2008 08:37

Morning

Obs I had a terrible night to, woke at 11.30 still awake at 4, then awake at 6. Pelvis got suddenly down hill and I am walking holding onto walls. DH on nights last night and so very nearly phoned him to come home. He has booked off call to take DD school as there is no way I could do it today

I am going to have a warm bath to see if that helps. Last night I got quite upset and thought I just was a CS now and to feel physically able again, also started to think shit what happens if still like it after the birth.

Sorry for me post feel free to ignore just venting. . . . .

Oblomov · 30/09/2008 09:15

Coolkat, my sympathy. You have it much worse than me.
But I have been so uncomfortable for the last couple of days. And I am only 33 weeks. The thought of having another 5 weeks of this fills me with dread.
It is not that I am at the unbearable, get him out stage. But like I said, the thought of another 5 weeks of this, is too much to contemplate.

Pinkali37 · 30/09/2008 09:15

MORNING ALL...

Sauraus got the quinny buzz 4 in the end with all the attachments etc...

Monkey we refer to our bump as Tarquin. Think friends and family are a little concerned that we will choose this as a name!

Lacks Sorry that you are feeling SHITE... At the exact moment i read your post i sneezed!

I haven't had any Braxton Hicks yet (oh god i've just jinxed myself!).. are they extremely noticable? I've had under my bump feeling tight but nothing that has made me go "yikes".

misdee · 30/09/2008 09:30

morning.

sauras, glad all is ok

i have removal company coming for a quote, but one sick kid home from school, so place is upside down more than usual, and dh is back at the hospital to repeat some tests as the last lot they werent happy with.

have added bump pic to profile.

ChocOrange05 · 30/09/2008 09:59

Morning all!

Well my brain is a bit frazzled from 5 hours of Antenatal classes yesterday - NHS ones in the morning and NCT ones in the evening. I am becoming somewhat of an expert on the stages of labour!!

Monkey I am having a HB - its my first baby so my first HB but not my first experience of it. I was actually there for the HB of my sister 17 years ago (when I was 10) - and before you ask, yes my family are hippies . Having been to the Antenatal classes and learning more about hospitals etc I am finding more and more positives about having a HB and would be happy to talk to you about it more on Friday (or facebook message me). The only downside is the peace of mind you might get by being in hospital, but we got comfortable with that as we are only a 5 min drive away.

Pinkali I have the Quinny Buzz too - I have no idea how good it is yet but I think it looks very pretty - which was a key criteria for me!

Merry I am keeping my fingers crossed that I beat you on Scrabble - Monkey is far too good and as a newbie to scrabble she is ruining my stats, I need some help to get them up!!

Coolkat sorry you are having a bad time, don't worry about venting on here - thats what we're for. I hope things get better soon.

Hope everyone else who has bad nights / BH's etc feel better soon - not long now!

ceebee74 · 30/09/2008 10:00

Coolkat - sorry you are in so much pain, what a shame there is nothing you can do

OK, talk Braxton Hicks to me then - my bump is constantly very tight (not in waves/contractions - all the time) - Saurus described it well by saying it was like someone has popped a bowling ball inside me - it is that hard but all the time - does anyone know if this normal BH or just a very weird bump??

Weekend away was lovely - DS slept fantastically well on the sofa bed and only got up once in the 2 nights we were there. However, because we were having later nights than normal, he was tired which made for a rather naughty, tetchy child on Sunday!! So for those of you thinking about routines, they are great for when at home but, ime, they do seem to make things go a bit loopy when the routine is disrupted!!

Hi to everyone else - have read all the posts but can't keep up

MerryMarigold · 30/09/2008 10:00

Margot, my friend's had 2 homebirths (inc. her first birth), they were wonderful and she inspired me to have one this time, was going to lend me her birthing pool and everything. Sadly, doesn't work well with transverse twins!

misdee, hope all goes well with the move. It's just in time! I can't figure out the bump pic properly in the wiggly ikea mirror!!

Dozy, good morning! You have been invited to a scrabble game...but I'm not sure if your time has run out.

coolkat, sounds like a real nightmare. i hope it improves with the bath. I'm sure it will be better after. I know what you mean about just wanting a cs now! I am struggling with what is best for babies and what I can handle...I am very uncomfortable, but only a little pain staring today which is really lucky I guess...

I estimate I am carrying about 11 lbs of babies. Friend from twins thread had hers on Saturday. One was 6lb10 and the other was 7lb7!! She hung till 39+4 and wouldn't let them induce her. I have only admiration for her.

I won't make Londonladies. I am not really a lady anyway . I have 2 hosp appointments in the morning, and will no doubt be shattered from being there from 9ish till 12ish. Will need my 2 hour nap if I had any hope of making it, but I don't think will be able to squeeze it in! Really sad to miss , so wanted to meet you all.

ChocOrange05 · 30/09/2008 10:01

Misdee I like the bump photo - although next time can you try and align the bump with the curve in the mirror, that would be very clever!!

MerryMarigold · 30/09/2008 10:04

barbs. we can meet up instead one of these days. I know you were busy last 2 weekends, and this Sat is my wedding anniversary! Maybe a week afternoon after work, could meet you in a Wanstead cafe, but there has to be parking close by!

MerryMarigold · 30/09/2008 10:11

ChocO, please, please let me win. It's so close! I haven't won any yet. Have you played Lacks, she comes up with amazing words!

Dozymare · 30/09/2008 10:41
