Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

OMG Rutho. Reminds me of when we bought this house. Lived in two upstairs rooms of it as there were no joists on the ground floor! Made Christmas dinner on a baby belling in what is now DD's bedroom. Oh heddy days!

suiledonn · 18/09/2008 17:31

Hi everyone, love the new thread title. Welcome back to Autumnlady and DrsWife.

Thanks for the tip about the chair in Lidl,
Heartmum. I really wanted a glider chair this time but can't afford the ones I've seen. The Lidl one looks good and well within price range.

I had the worst night of this pregnancy so far last night. Baby moved up really high for some reason and caused me torturous heartburn and made me really short of breath. I had to keep getting in and out of bed all night. Seems to have migrated back down a little today so hopefully tonight won't be as bad.

ruthosaurus · 18/09/2008 17:48

Hi Suieldonn, and commiserations - know what you mean .

Pinky, worst thing is, it's a 3 bed house - it's just that the other 2 rooms are full of crap and sawdust. Also, there is only 1 comfy seat downstairs at the mo' because there is nowhere else to put the ironing and mountains of flatpack furniture. It'll be amazing in 3 or 4 weeks, I'm sure.

Meanwhile, DH's birthday party is on Saturday night. It seemed like a good idea at the time. [bleak 1000yd stare from eyes like red marbles]

Is that the link to the Pello Ruthosaurus? It IS almost indentical to the Poang from what I could tell when I was in Ikea about 3 months ago, but they had none in stock for ages and ages, hence my ebay bargain for £27 (was also used a nursery chair from the woman I got it from, lol!).

I am well and truely shattered now. I eventually got back up off my butt this afternoon and carried on slaving away, so today I have cleaned the oven, the bathroom (including the bath and cleaning the floor by hand), unloaded/reloaded and put the dishwasher on, 4 loads of washing, washed, dried and folded (just waiting to be put away), took out all the kitchen recycling, emptied the kitchen compost caddy and cleaned that out AND cut the grass in the back garden. On top of this, I spent the morning "teaching" my boys and at lunch time was entertaining my best mate. Phew, may not move again until this time next week. Good thing we are having jacket potatoes for tea, no cooking involved, just bung in clean over and leave. What's the betting I STILL won't be able to sleep tonight?

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:12

Heartmum, if you can't sleep you are welcome to come here and clean something. Our oven badly needs cleaning. Used to be a veggie household- Icannot believe how horrid the oven gets now that we eat meat!

Rutho it will all be worth it. Just hand everyone a brush or something when they come in the door. We did a decorating party for a friend who had hurt his thumb halfway through a major house renovation, it was quite good fun.

Suiledon- lack of comfortable sleep is a killer. Sit yourself up in bed and put a large book on your bump- that should keep baby in his/her place!!

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:13

OMGoodness heartmum You are just mad. You will regret it all tommorrow, at least I would live to regret far worse for far less if that makes sense at all!!

Thread title is good!!
I am not sure if I can still see mine or not, I haven't looked recently.

Oh, just remembered, who wa sit who said they are booked in for induction in 6weeks?
Yikes! A date! that is a scary thought.
I am still only 30 weeks, or so, I lose count. Not due until thte end of November anyway. I have 2 more scans to get through before I will know if I am set to be sliced or not. Seems ages away, to be thinking of having a baby!
My DB (his GF anyway) is due 7 October!! Not long now, for them! I wish it were me, on one hand, and am happy to have a little more time, on the other

I am knackered today and have not been home at all, really.
Today is swim day, we meet 2 other mums and their LO's for a swim. But now I do my aqua natal before my swim (mum brings DD down to meet me) so it seems to have taken it all out of me. DD is on fantastic form though, bless!
This baby is so low! Always pressurising my bladder. It has never really eased throughout this pregnancy. I thought it was only meant to be bad at the beginning and then the end?

I know you guys have been talking about it for ages but I am finally going to fess up, what is SPD?

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:17

twinkling it's horrid. I count myself so lucky to not have it. It's an excess dose of the hormone that softens the ligaments between either the two sides of the pelvis or the sacrilliac (sp) joint and it is agony. link

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:20

Just had a wee look about SPD, sounds like I have a little of it, but only very mild I think.
By evening I am uncomfortable and really do clamp my legs together at night to stem the pain.
But it is not affecting me really much during the day.
You poor thing.....oh, grr, now I can't find who it was, but you have been off work with it. Ouch!

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:21

Cheers pinky that was the very place I had just looked
Google, by any chance

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:22

My mum had it, I reckon, undiagnosed and she now has to have regular physio as her pelvis is not right. I'd get it checked out as physio before and after birth is highly recommended.

suiledonn · 18/09/2008 18:23

Twinkling - your DB and his GF are due on my birthday - October 7th - it will be a lovely Libra baby, just like I was 34 years ago - Yikes! I think my baby must be huge at this stage. Still seems very high and causing heartburn but low enough to keep prodding me in the bladder. I think I have a mischevious one on my hands this time.

Sympathy to those in the middle of house renovations or moving.

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:29

Do you think I should?
I am sure I mentioned it to the MW when I saw her last and she just smiled as if to say it was a common enough thing, so I didn't worry about it.
As I say it is not debilitating during the day, just feels painful by night. Fine again by morn.
I wouldn't want to make a fuss over nothing. There are so many more things that could happen and this could be even worse than it is.

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:31

I am sure the baby will be a real sweety suiledon

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:31

I knew what it was, Twinkling, I just wanted a link to make sure..I don't like getting shouted at on mnet!

Suiledon- my DD is a Libra she is fab. October 9th.
I wonder of your baby is long. DS was a nit as you describe and very long.

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:33

Eh? You don't like getting shouted at?
I am confused I have not offended have I?
Can't think how I would have.
Catholic guilt thing again I think??

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:34

Well I would keep a firm eye on it, if I were you. Lacks et al who actually suffer from it will have a better idea than me, I'm sure. I think there are certain things to be careful with if you do suffer from it, esp. in labour.

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:35

Oh I think I understand, you didn't want to tell me, in your own words (hence the link) for fear of being shouted at and corrected?
yes?

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:35

lol noo. I just mean I like to make sure I'm being really accurate!!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:36

oh lordy cross posts-yes that's it.

coolkat · 18/09/2008 18:38

Just checking in, Fab title Saurus

Twinkling sadly me being induced in 6 weeks and few days and also me who off work with SPD. Must say feel better as I can keep on top of things being at home, when working just to painful by the end of the day. Still occasionally get stuck at night though!

I like the look of those chairs but we have no where to put one and DH would go mad as I only sold our pine rocking chair a few months ago due to having no room!

All the talk of breast pumps made me go and get the one I bought out and have a look. Its a boots manual one and I got it BNWT from ebay for about £2.00 and it came with milk storage bags and clips.

H2JM Oh my I can not believe you have done all that today, I physically could not do it and am most jealous

Crikey Saurus what do you have to buy still £500

Oh just looking at my hospital bag and not packed a toothbrush or toothpaste

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:38

Oh that's alright then.
Blimey that catholic guilt is just annoying!
DH even asked me why my eyes had turned to saucers, I was so confused

twinklingfairy · 18/09/2008 18:43

I knew it was a name starting with C but couldn't find you coolkat
How rotten aout SPD, I cannot imagine mine being worse than this.
Are you happy about induction date? Why have they decided to induce?
Is it cos of SPD?

PInkyminkyohnooo · 18/09/2008 18:44

Twinkling I'm sorry! I was hoping the grin would do it, but the sentiment doesn't always come over well on thesee message boards, does it.

Coolkat sorry you are suffering. How come you are being induced? sorry if I've missed it somewhere.

The pump sounds fab. Pumps and sterillizers are a bargain on ebay. I didn't get a lot for my things when I sold them, not that it really mattered.

coolkat · 18/09/2008 18:51

Yes, agreed to induce on due date if baby does not come early predominantly because of SPD and back. DD was 2 weeks late and 9 pound, I also had retained placenta last time. They are aware that the distance my legs can be parted is not as big as should be so she also advised to avoid epidural as this could end up with damage as would not feel the pelvis pain IYSWIM.
The other addition as that my left leg is often quite lazy and I have to help lift it, whether this comes under SPD or not I don't know but I just know I can't wait to feel healthy again and to be active.

Sorry for the ramble.
Autumn lady sorry to hear your off work to with it. X

ruthosaurus · 18/09/2008 18:56

Hi coolcat, it's all stuff like getting a car seat base, and a carpet for the nursery (no carpet at all in there), and a blackout blind or curtains, and bedding, and a sling, and and and and [bursts into tears].

There's nothing major left, it just all adds up in a v scary way. I may have decided not to get a change bag, just use ordinary bag to sling crap into, but I like the idea of one that comes with a changing mat. I can save quite a lot more on ebay as well, I guess.

I managed to convince myself that I don't need a new bag for my hospital bag - I can just use an existing piece of luggage.

Can you have catholic guilt if you're not catholic? Or is it middle-class angst?

SPD - my boss had that and got some kind of dodgy belt that seemed to help a lot. Not nice, and mega sympathy to all sufferers. She's fine now though and back to size 10 and running around like nothing's happened - her DS is about 4 months now, I think.

I have to go for a CT scan at 36 weeks to see if lovely pelvis is strong enough for labour, following a break when I was little. It seems to be holding up with just (as far as I can tell) normal aches and pains so far, which is good because I'm not mega keen on a caesarean - I'm scared of operations.

Can I have my baby in the cupboard under the stairs? I am starting to understand that hiding thing that cats do.

Off home in a bit, to iron madly and make tea. Heartmum, you are my role model for tonight and I will try to emulate you as much as poss [applies starch to upper lip and exits stage left].

Night all, hope you sleep well!
