Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

I'm noit the only one showing off the jersey bit on their maternity trousers, then! My baby has moved to the middle. I have a sort of central 'hump'

LackaDAISYcal · 29/09/2008 12:02

I don't even look pregnant from behind.....it's all out front. I was like this with DS as well, whereas with DD I was well rounded everywhere.

DD hasn't slept at all ...she did this yesterday and ended up in bed at 5:45 and woke at half seven this morning!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/09/2008 12:04

oops, don't know what happened there?

meant to say spot of lunch, bit of shopping and then the bank.....followed by PO after school run!

pinkee, virgil is pretty central as well; ikwym about the hump!

Oblomov · 29/09/2008 12:11

Likewise, very central, all bump. Same with ds. Must be a boy thing.
Daisy hope dd is better soon.

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 12:14

Jersey bit? I can't even get mine done up! I am walking round with my flies undone and hoping the darn things stay up! I had to buy mat jeans at 7 weeks cos my normal jeans made me cry with pain even then, and now I have gone up a bum size and desperately need to go and buy some truly enormous trousers for just the next few weeks. Has anyone else bought mat jeans from New Look? I was tempted cos they are only £12.

I hae a pre-pregnancy stripy hoodie that makes me look just like an egg wearing an egg cosy. How v appropriate!

I'm definitely going to miss having an excuse to wear stretchy trousers and I have a lovely jumper from H&M that I hope still looks okay without a bump. What's anyone else's favourite bit of maternity wear? [introduces topic in totally un-cackhanded fashion]

Pinkali37 · 29/09/2008 12:35

Obs.. here's hoping they don't admit you (unless of course it ends up being the best place for you!)..

I also have a cold plus am having more nose bleeds which really does cause a messy situation~!

Re Apricots, i have tried everything!! And there is definitely no happy medium! Oh well the joys of being pregnant.

I just can not believe i will be 34 weeks on Friday. This time is going so quickly. DH finally finished the wardrobes on Sunday however we then very quickly noticed that one of the doors had a slight crack in it! I was so upset. It's one of those conundrums, do we go through with the hassle of taking it back to IKEA or do we put it on the very left where no one can see it and put a little bit of paint over it to disguise it because they were only cheap???????????? Why does this always happen?

Just one final note, i washed all my white baby grows, vests, socks and scratch mittens yesterday. The look just so cute folded up and smelling lovely and fresh (temporarily of course).

Pinkali37 · 29/09/2008 12:40

I am also very much all up front with the bump, however everyone in my family seems to carry the same and they all had girls (I don't know what flavour mine is).

Sauraus, i will try and stay in my comfy trousers as long as possible, i like them . I bought some maternity jeans from NEXT they are pretty good. Also come in boy style which cover up my stupidly large thighs (due to pregnancy of course!), in fact i had to buy a bigger size a couple of months ago just to fit my thighs in!!

coolkat · 29/09/2008 12:45

Hi Ladies

Sorry to those that are feeling low / unwell.

Re constipation Bran flakes and warm boiled water in the morning work well. When I am constipated and eat loads of fruit to combat it just tends to make 'gas' sorry TMI!!

Lacks, I feel like sending all my t-shirt tops from next back as they have all been to short for a while now, never tumble dried them either. I have invested in the non-maternity round neck tops in DP's but bought them few sizes bigger and they are FAB as they are longer in length and I thought they would do for feeding after, also 2 for £12.00 - BARGAIN!

Good to hear everything is ok Saurus, we were worried Anyhow on the subject of New look jeans never tried them but got black linen trousers from there and been impressed. Next trousers never stay up and the DP jeans I got I swear I am going to burn. My favourite and most comfy item of clothing are a pair of Elle black jogging bottoms that are not maternity and were £5 from tkmax, they are FAB, trouble is I don't want to wear trainers all of the while.

Obs sorry about sickness

Feel free to ignore my ramble

Oh and Hanaflower I am intrigued about what you grandparents have ordered you from John Lewis, come back and spill the beans!

LackaDAISYcal · 29/09/2008 12:58

I have just received my Secret stork pressie....and sorry, it was all wrapped up nice and lovely, but I couldn't wait

It's a gorgeous organic cotton snuggly blanket with a teddy bear head in teddy bear colour and a lovely little bodysuit, with scorpio and a cartoon crab motif on it.......Thank you very very very much secret stork

I am so excited now; getting pressies makes it more real than buying things yourself!

Maternity stuff....my over the bump jeans are getting a bit tight over my bump now, but I have lived in them since about 8 weeks pregnant. I'm now graduating into comfy stretchy clothes though, and favourite is the yoga trousers I bought in mothercare when I was pregnant with DD as they are sooooooo comfy and look good either very casual, or smart casual. I actually found a pair of trousers and a vest top in the wardrobe that I had forgotten I had bought . Favourite tops are a couple of smocky t-shorts that aren't even maternity wear, but since I lost loads of weight are fine on.

I have finally reached my pre-pregnancy weight . Am worried I am going to pile on a stone in the last six weeks if I don't stop eating BAD things!

Right...the bank is calling me

LackaDAISYcal · 29/09/2008 12:59

that's t-shirts obviously.....I haven't developed a mad urge to flash my thinder thighs to the world at large

Pinkyminkee · 29/09/2008 13:21

My favourite maternity clothes are probably my GAP things. They have been so comfy. The jeans are realy good.
I havew a very pretty jersey skirt my friend loaned me, which is v.comfy and looks good with leggings.
obs I'm all humpy bumpy but as far as I aware this one is a girl. My friend said the other night that I looked like the baby was running out of room, but I looked like this with the other two, and DS was in no hurry

Oooh Coolkat d'you think *hana's inlawws have mutinied and bought her a pram? My mother couldn't handle it when I got a sling. She tyhought it would 'spoil' my babye and it was a third world thing, but then she also thought the benefits of bfeeding were only for the third world, too .

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 13:36

Okay, feel free to point at me and laugh, but what's the secret stork thing? Is it too late to play? It sounds fun!

Maternity stuff - I have, Lacks, but I think that's just pregnancy mania I can't believe I'm wearing leggings again for the first time since 1996... Yay on the weight gain - I know that was really worrying you!

I've had a braxton hicks contraction thing going on for the last hour - my tummy went totally solid at about 12:30 when I started making lunch and it's like having a bowling ball in here. Normal?

Pinky, did you tell your mum where to get off? Mine desperately wants me to get a sling so she can steal the baby and walk around the shops with it playing house! These were her exact words. It's a good job she can't bf it otherwise I'd be getting worried about becoming a surrogate for her (she never had any biological kids of her own, I'm a hand-me-down) .

OP posts:
Pinkyminkee · 29/09/2008 13:44

Rutho BH quite normal. I have a rock bump a lot of the time. labour ones tend to be from the top and painful, BH tend to be from the bottom up and just plann weird and uncomfortable but not generally painful.

As for my mum, as you have prolly gleaned from my previous posts, we do not see eye to eye on a number of isssues.
I rarely do anyhting she tells me to do, but she does like telling me what to do most of the time. Like 'get the children out of the car' when we have just parked- umm no I thought I'd just leave them here, unattened... arrrgghh. She did hide me under a brolly once when I was bfeeding on a bench in a park (bright sunny day) in case I offended anyone. She is a little bonkers, I just wish she was harmless bonkers instead of a bit vicious, IYKWIM

Pinkyminkee · 29/09/2008 13:46

p.s. your mum sounds fab

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 14:01

Family, eh - can't live with them, can't legally drown them in the washing up bowl when no-one's looking...

My mum is fab, especially when she drives DH nuts! She was ace at the hospital, bless her and is taking me jeans shopping on Saturday, unless bump has any more plans to scare the sh*t out of us all (must be the apricots, soz).

Glad you used the word "tend" as mine are uncomfortable rather than painful and from the top... That's the problem with this pregnancy lark - there's no "normal", is there?

Poor DH really cannot understand why I don't feel like getting frisky these days. Is it him? Does his breath smell? Or is it that I am a space-hopper and cannot breathe or indeed get a good night's sleep? Who knows?

Hey everyone, apologies for not posting for so long.

rutho, I have the £12 New Look jeans and they are fine. I have to wear a thin belt (under my bump) to hold them up but I think that's the case with all "under-the-bump" jeans. Go for it - I've been wearing mine since early August and they are still in one piece! As for my favourite clothes, I am finding dresses the most comfy at the moment but am now having a problem with maternity tights... soooo uncomfortable! Can you get under-bump ones does anyone know??

Also, another quick tip before I get back to pretending to doing some work: for those who are having trouble breathing at night (and/or waking up their DH with snoring!) I have discovered breathe right strips and they are great! OK, yes, they do look rather sily... but Jules Oliver used them!

LolaBella · 29/09/2008 14:23

Thanks for advice Obs just feeling a little low today and wondering if life will ever seem normal again

Regarding maternity clothes, i am currently sat in dp's jogging pants and sweater. Not a good luck at all but i don't care. Now that is slightly worrying

coolkat · 29/09/2008 14:29

I will second the family thing!

My sister who I posted about few weeks ago very early pregnancy is deciding to now get married. . . Fine . . . but at the end of November I know its my hormones but just feel like she is a selfish cow. Feel like saying have a nice day can't come I know I am being very unreasonable

Saurus Braxton hicks are a tad uncomfortable aren't they! I hate it when I get them as just go solid and feel like can't move!

Feel shattered this afternoon. Got loads I could be doing but no motivation. DD birthday party on Sunday, having entertainers but sort of dreading it!

Oblomov · 29/09/2008 14:31

My mum and I fell out big time last year. But things are getting better. She is fab. Total rock.

She is going on holiday to Portugal for 2 weeks mid to end Oct. NICE TIMING. To be fair, she did book this last year. Haven't told dh this yet.

MerryMarigold · 29/09/2008 15:01

Saurus, I have been giggling at wearing leggings too. It's about all I can wear (and I have grown out of a few pairs). Can't stand ANYTHING over bump. Can't wear tops anymore, they are all too short, only dresses over leggings. Actually, I now have one pair of leggings, one pair of attractive velour trackie bottoms, 4 dresses/ very long tops and that's it.

What I will miss about pregnancy is wearing my long tops which are no good for bfing but which cover a multitude of sins (belly, thighs, bum).

Obs, can't believe you did that to me. But am pround to say I am beating ChocO on another game!! Better watch out if she beat you though. I go blank when I see all the letters! I'm useless at the countdown conundrum too, never once get it. But did you see my last word? Was pleased with it, not for the score.

Oooh Lacks, your gift sounds lovely. Well, you know it's not from me anyway!! I do have all my stuff, so I MAY post it tomorrow or maybe just wait a few days to confound everyone.

Lolabella. dh and I have not slept together since about March! . He is a bad snorer. But also me getting up disturbs him (we managed half a night a while ago and he was shattered the next day!). Like Obs says, if you manage a quick kiss in the kitchen, you are doing well.

MerryMarigold · 29/09/2008 15:05

oh, and saurus, you have the ideal excuse not to get jiggy with dh. You don't want anything touching that sensitive cervix, and you certainly don't want to release all that prostaglandin hormone (in sperm) which can also kick off labour. Wait till you are 38 weeks and then you can for it every day!

Pinkali37 · 29/09/2008 16:21

I daren't wear leggings as my legs are just SOOOOOO fat at the moment. I haven't really put a lot of weight on other than on the top of my legs, YUK

Re mothers, mine is a nutter but a great help. We had a dinner party on Saturday night and she came round to help clean and iron, plus she saved my white sauce for the lasagne when it was far too thin and i didn't know what to do. She has also started working for us (she left NHS after 17 years and now works for us!). She's a nutter in the office too.

OOh forgot to mention, I picked up our pram on Saturday and everything that goes with it such as car seat. I keep looking at the car seat thinking YIKES... i'm going to bring a baby home in that.

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 17:42

Okay, I'm going for a lie down! I'm still all braxtony and am seeing if having a nap will work...

Plus I think I'e outgrown ANOTHER maternity bra .

I may change my username to mamatee, as in manatee, because I look like a frickin' dugong. I daren't go swimming in case someone tries to harpoon me.

I'm going to pop my head in at band tonight and explain that I can no longer play the clarinet seeing as I have no lungs, plus I need to spend more time at home doing naff all. I ain't been for a month.

Btw, does anyone think there's a market for mumsnet merchandise? I'm thinking coffee mugs or even t-shirts (with discreet bf panels, natch) with slogans like OMG YANBU and DH - HANDS OFF, THIS IS MY MUG and HANDS OFF THE BUMP, TROLL . Just a thought.

ruthosaurus · 29/09/2008 17:43
