Hi ladies, new thread as we seem to have outgrown the old one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LackaDAISYcal · 27/09/2008 20:09

DH recently referred to me as a "woman of a certain age" . He nearly got a very heavy handbag wrapped around his ears for that one!

My cat too. they couldn't get a blood sample from her leg, so took it from the vein in her neck. She has a huge swelling and seems very out of sorts today......doesn't help that I stood on her earlier . I didn't see her under my feet because my bump was in the way!

vbab78 · 27/09/2008 20:16

mum2becks - I bet the last thing you needed was clearing up sick! Hope everyone gets better soon and it isnt catching.

ruthosaurus - So glad you and baby are ok .

due dates - Just looked at the stats thread and really sorry for not realising some of us are having our baby's at the end of Oct . Not long now ... saying that dont know why I shocked as I am due a few days later AND why am grinning because I havent organised a thing and we are starting our next plastering and general redo of our living room on Monday at 35wks!

text buddies - Really sorry for asking but could someone explain what it is?

LackaDAISYcal · 27/09/2008 20:38

vbab, the idea is we pair up with someone so that when we go into labour we can text and then our buddy keeps the thread informed.....same with deliveries

tis optional though; you don't need to if you'd rather not.

if you want to be involved email me

I have just done a fucking stupid thing. DH had a very spicy pizza earlier which I cooked, then cut up, and then picked up...and rearranged some of the lovely pepper on the top as it fell off when I cut it. I have just rubbed my very tired eyes and realised that it wasn;t pepper; it was chilli . My eyes are now streaming and very, very, very stingy, itchy and sore

MerryMarigold · 27/09/2008 21:13

Lacks, I did exactly that yesterday... was tired, rubbed eyes after cooking a curry, using curry powder imported from sri lanka, very strong. DOH, DOH, DOH!

saurus, relax and give your cervix a good rest. join facebook and the scrabblers - could spend all day on it! Can't believe your hospital has the name of a photography shop, spent a while working that one out!!

secretstorks, already? Now you know it wasn't me posted that one!!! I have got my stuff but not packaged it up. Hope I can find the email with the address now...

LackaDAISYcal · 27/09/2008 21:24

ow MerryM.....sympathies. It's calmed down now!

could've been worse......DH and I once got "intimate" after he had made a particularly fiery chilli............OUCH is all I'm saying

MerryMarigold · 27/09/2008 21:33

oh my lacks , that made me smile (sorry!).

glad it's calmed down, bet it hasn't affected your scrabble ability .

LackaDAISYcal · 27/09/2008 21:40

monkeymargot is the scrabble queen around here I think! I am holding my own against her at the minute though....just

MonkeyMargot · 27/09/2008 22:03

Lacks - just want to say I'm most upset you're beating me. It simply will not do!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/09/2008 22:14

It won't last; I'm fast running out of ideas and we seem to have cut off a whole corner of the board. I can't open it up without giving you mre triple word scores either!

MerryMarigold · 28/09/2008 02:24

Don't worry, I'm sure I can open it up and give away lots of juicy tit bits to both of you...

I'm losing despite the q and the x. Oh, the shame .

mum2becks · 28/09/2008 08:37

Morning everyone, thanks for your concern over DH & DD, DH wasnt well for most of yesterday so unfortunately didnt get chance to have any rest after such a sleepless night, but had a good nights sleep last night at least

saurus pleased that you are ok and make sure you have a good rest next week after such a scare! I too am having my baby at Jessops Hospital in Sheffield, I had dd there too, it is a good hospital. Although a nightmare to get parked anywhere near it!!!

Sounds like you were all busy with scrabble last night!

LadyBuzz · 28/09/2008 10:01

Saurus please everything is OK for you.
Scrabblers play me if you want an easy game i'm really really bad Monkey you are showing me a whoe new different world of scrabble!!
Mum2Becks glad the bug has died down and you got some sleep. I actually mananged a whole night without getting up to pee last night - I guess that is the advantage of Baby being transverse!

Oblomov · 28/09/2008 11:11

Daisy, sorry to hear of troubles with ds's another boy thing. I have sent text budddies e-mail to you.
Glad that me and pinky have our 'travel toiletries' sorted for our hospital bags.
Rutho so glad you are o.k. I was worried about you.

cricri · 28/09/2008 12:10

Daisy Also wanted to say sorry about DS's situation at school - hope it gets sorted out quickly. I also hope your eyes are better after getting chili in them! Have sent you an email about the text buddies.
Rutho Glad everything is OK - we were all worried about you! Definitely do not move from bed/sofa next week or we'll all be on your case!
Mum2Becks Glad DH and DD are better and you seem to have escaped the bug. Sounded awful.
Had a busy day yesterday - out with friends and their two DDs for a lovely lunch and walk at a country estate nearby. The weather was glorious Just off to pick up my car seat in a minute as it's finally arrived (ordered mid August!). DH plans to put the cot bed up today so baby's room should look a bit more sorted by tonight A friend dropped off a load of clothes yesterday to add to the ones we've already been given - my DD is going to have more than enough clothes for the first year of her life at this rate! Not complaining though
Hope everybody else is OK and enjoying the Indian summer weather

Oblomov · 28/09/2008 14:59

Dh downstaris watching spurs. Ds asleep.
For those of you playing scrabble with me, incase you hadn't noticed, I really must stop, becasue I am really shit.

MerryMarigold · 28/09/2008 15:58

OOOOOH OBS. I NEED TO PLAY SCRABBLE WITH YOU. SENDING YOU AN INVITE. I TOO AM PANTS, BUT AM (SLOWLY) LEARNING A FEW TRICKS FROM MARGOT AND DAISY. MY ADVICE WOULD BE: NEVER PLAY THEM BOTH TOGETHER ON YOUR OWN. IT'S LIKE HAVING YOUR NOSE RUBBED CONSTANTLY IN 'IT'. I AM SPENDING HOURS (SOMETIMES WITH DH TOO) TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A GOOD MOVE AND STILL DISMALLY LOSING...I'VE NEVER BEEN A MASOCHIST, BUT I SEEM TO BE ENJOYING IT WELL ENOUGH!

Oblomov · 28/09/2008 16:17

MerrM, the funny thing is, I enjoy playing, but don't want to better myself. Odd really.
I normally only enjoy doing things I am very good at:
not bad at chess,
very very good at backgammon
very good at crib.

MerryMarigold · 28/09/2008 18:04

I'm bad at all those games, obs! Never even played 'crib'. Always did well academically though...(gotta slip that in ). As for monopoly, it is my worse ever game and I actually refuse to play it, it brings out the absolute worst in me. I'm quite good at 'predict whist' though!

Oblomov · 28/09/2008 18:12

I am crap at triv.
I am good at pool. Can you tell that I spent most of my time in pubs. Ha ha. Running them, mostly. But drinking lots aswell.
Oh are you Dr MerryM then ?
I am not that clever/bright/academic. I had to work very hard to get my B. I got a B in everything I ever did. And my BA and MA are about as much use as a gnats ...... My dh is a very good manager. Can close a million pound deal with the barings bank lot. Can hold his own with any CEO he has ever met. Yet the teasladies love him. And he has about 1 GCE to show for it. I call him a 'barrowboy'. He call me a 'private snob' - coz I have what he thinks is a posh accent. I think he sounds like he could sell you some 'frit n veg'. Funny how different we all are.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/09/2008 18:40

DH and I are terrible at playing games. He won't play scrabble as I always beat him, and I won't play backgammon as he always beats me (and it was me who taught him to play in the first place, the cheek!)

I have stinking cold; it's been brewing all day and I now feel proper poorly.

DH found my bag in the attic so I can get my hospital bag packed now...yay. Also got the size 0/1 nappies down from the loft and the crib for building, so things will be sorted this week.

I am getting really excited

Obs - would love to challenge you to a game of pool sometime. When I first moved down to London, I used to be the captain of the Windmill "B" Team in Acton - ooh the glamour of it all! It was such a laugh - in fact, that is how I came to ensnare DH....think low-cut top whilst leaning over pool table, trying to look all comely...
Finally got rid of my 2 x guest beds, so the room is now clear to create a nursery. Wahey! DH is in bed with "migraine". I think he's just in a strop because we got up at Dawn's crack to pick up transit van and then load furniture and drive 270 mile round trip to my brothers. He's very moody sometimes....just like his mother!!

MerryMarigold · 28/09/2008 20:06

No, I don't have a PHD or even an MA, obs and I am most certainly NOT a doc of medicine (despise most of 'em). I am somewhere in between Bianca off of Eastenders and Joanna Lumley, darling (probably closer to Bianca). You should be good at Triv if you spent time in pubs, all the pub quizzes. They are the hardest.

Wow, Lacks, you are getting well sorted. Well done. Someone told me babies come at full moon, so I thought, you know just out of interest, that I would look it up . The next one is 14th Oct. I think that could be my date! Not much is sorted.

I am shattered tonight. I have to wait till 9.30 to test blood. The scrabble will keep me going.

Oh Margot, my dh had a 'migraine' last week (funnily enough after a night in the pub)! I didn't give him much sympathy, just asked if he could see funny lights, and whether he could move all his fingers and toes! He was not amused. Fine the next day, although he still felt 'a bit funny' - ahhhhhhh, bless.

MerryMarigold · 28/09/2008 20:12

obs, I worked with someone like your dh. owned the company! the sharpest, cleverest man when it came to business stuff. i was just in awe of him and how quick he was, and loved being in meetings where he was nailing clients! he was brilliant.

LackaDAISYcal · 28/09/2008 20:22

I'm saying goodnight all......my eyes are streaming from the cold and I'm struggling to read, type and keep up with scrabble.

have the rest of a good weekend
