hi everyone, congrats to all new mums and babies (have lost track of who)
nothing much to say from here, like most people occasional pains, bh, and some very odd pressing low down which feels like baby trying to burst through! My guess is I'll still be here in October. i'm going to try really hard not to moan this time though, and have made the decision I'm not going to try any of the old wives tales to bring it on- tried many last time and they didnt work so just gonna see what happens! (although labour did start the day after a reflexology and accupuncture session last time...but then i was a week over, not terribly conclusive)Got MW on Tues, be interested to see if they measure bump any bigger as I feel its been about the same for a few weeks again- does it do this at the end? cant remember. Did some gardening today and feel may have overdone it slightly, back is v sore but dh has given me a lovely massage. Hope can sleep tonight, went to toilet sooooooo many times last night. lets all keep fingers crossed for some full moon action!!!

carrieon · 14/09/2008 22:50

Evening all, just been out for a lovely meal in town with dh while wonderful friends babysat (and they gave us a voucher for the meal so the whole thing was a treat from start to finish!)

I've got a really busy day tomorrow so won't be logging in at my usual lunch time or evening slots, so please don't go speculating that I've gone into labour!

I'm just so excited by all the birth stories and announcements, especially ponymum

I've approved the facebook requests - apologies if anyone requests tomorrow, I won't be able to do it until Tuesday.

constipation I cannot recommend fruit&fibre cereal highly enough! Its meant I've had no unpleasant side effects to the iron tablets whatsoever! Also I had at least a bowl of it a day after giving birth last time and never had 'the fear' people talk about of ripping themselves in half each time they go to the loo for the first few days after birth (esp if you've had stitches, which I had).

So sorry about the chicken pox, one of my friends who was a third baby had to be taken to a relatives house with her mum for the first few weeks of her life coz her older siblings had the pox, and I believe its dangerous in babies under 8 weeks. It has crossed my mind that dd getting the pox now would be one of the worst things that could happen, so I really really feel for you, hope it clears up soon.

Catch up with you all Tuesday so hear news of all those full moon births!

SlinkieM · 14/09/2008 22:58

Hi all - just checking in.
Congrats to ponymum (great name 'tis mine!), jearund for little Dougie and other mums of new arrivals!
Waving in sympathy at LittleConnie, oscarsmum, hopefully and others with those shooting pains/PGP - nasty isn't it. Mine has improved since I had a bit of a go at DH saying I really needed to relax a bit. It is much harder being heavily pregnant with a toddler.
I am off to the hospital in the morning - 39w tomorrow. My DD had arrived by now and we were home so this is unchartered territory! Just hoping the stretchmarks don't start coming!
And the friendly messages enquiring whether I've given birth yet are beginning to get me down, what a grump I am!

MunkiMom · 14/09/2008 23:14

Ok, need to have a petty cry for a moment...
ds will be 2 on the 25th and we've never cut his hair..except an occassional fringe trim.
i've noticed it's been rather irritating for him lately, keeping it out of his face. and not to mention,
we're hearing it more and more and more these days about how cute our little girl is. although, really, i'm
not fussed about what others think he is or isn't. so, dh and i took the clippers to his head tonight...
the longest attachment we could find, 1 inch i think? anyways, i cried from start to finish..and my eyes are even
welling up now as i type this. he looks sooo different!! i know i will get used to it. and its only hair, it will grow back.
{{{{sigh}}}} my little beebee. no long blonde haor with the slight curls.

okokok, i know, its only hair...whinge over!

Congrats happymumathome!!! and i agree with Hopefully, so many positive birth stories this
weekend!!

Also, Congrats to BikeRunSki!!! i remember seeing you post when i first joined, late august.
pleased to hear about your lovely baby boy!! sorry you had to experience both sides of it:
labouring for 6 hours AND c/s! i bet you were physically exhausted! well done in the end, hun!

hope, thanks for the link to the contraction timer.
not that i need it yet, or anything...

missusH dh & i were joking about yesterday about how everyone (people we know) have been
texting and phoning, asking if baby has arrived yet. also, that if a stranger asks how much time i have left,
i will just give them the firmest look and simply say: I'm not pregnant, thank you.
LOL. hahah i can only imagine the look on their faces. ((it would only be for a laugh, and i'd tell them i was prego shortly
after))

sorry to hear about the pox AND the head lice discovery. hope it all gets sorted before arrivals!!

wow this is a long post...

mamamufin · 15/09/2008 00:59

Congratulations on the new arrivals .

I love hearing the birth stories,so far they have all been really lovely. I am starting to wonder whether you are all leaving the traumatic birth to me .

Thanks for the full moon link munki. I understand your ds hair trauma- I went thru it not that long ago .

Fingers crossed for you biglips it sounds hopeful.

I have developed a cold/cough so am finding it difficult to sleep tonight. My skin feels so stretched when I cough and then I get bad reflux. Sorry for moan.

Well tomorrow is my edd. No signs- I am sure I will be here tomorrow.

Sleep well x

lollipopmother · 15/09/2008 02:48

I can't quite believe I am saying this - but I have been in early labour since this afternoon. I started having contractions at about 4pm after having period pains and back ache all of last night and this morning. I waited for as long as I could before finally going to the hospital at 22:30 to get checked out as I wanted to make sure that I was actually in labour!

Anyway, it's confirmed, and baby is now fully engaged but she's not quite facing the right way, although not back to back just yet so I've still got a chance. I'm still only 2cm dilated and cervix is still quite long but I'm getting a lot of contractions, just not the 'real' ones that are all over the bump, mine are just really low down and by GOD are they painful, really not enjoying it at all as it's been going on so long and I am tired, and because it's still not active labour. I was given the option of staying at the hospital or to go home so we chose home, but I can't wait to go back to get a go on the G&A!!!

MunkiMom · 15/09/2008 04:03

mama happy due date! don't be silly, the difficult labour story is being saved for me! errr.....at least i hope it's not!

lolli WOW! FINALLY!!! something is definitely happening!! I cannot wait for you to meet your LO, after all the patience you've had to maintain...at least now know its coming!

awwww! and you get to move over to the new thread as well! ((no more moaning with the rest of us, eh?)) good luck with the delivery, hun!

oh, and just went in to check on ds... was the only reaction i could muster! i must've forgot about cutting his hairs off. looks like a totally different boy laying in that bed!

mum2bagain · 15/09/2008 05:11

Congratulations Lolli I'm really glad things are starting to happen for you. Munki - are we mad being up at this time in the morning - I've been awake since 4am and decided I can't lie there any longer. Would just be my luck to start labour being totally knackered today. Officially got to be up by 6.45am to get everyone ready for school etc. anyway.

I hope everyone has a great day

LittleConnie · 15/09/2008 05:16

Can't sleep
Sorry to join in the moaning but my belly's soooo itchy and I just can't get comfortable on my hips.

Good luck lolli so great that thing's started of their own accord... looking forward to your announcement

LittleConnie · 15/09/2008 05:17

Fantastic news lollipopmother hopefully you're back at the hospital now and well on your way. We'll await with bated breath!

Congratulations bikerunski

mamamufin · 15/09/2008 08:41

Thanks for the list update littlecon

Wow lollipop I am so excited for you. Good luck and post when you can.

mumi and munki you must be shattered like me.

I am going to take ds to nursery in a minute then really try and go back to sleep for a few hours.

I am feeling sorry for the baby in me, each cough I do must really squash it .
Anyone with any tickly cough cures?

Have a great day. I cant wait to be on the post natal thread now. x

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/09/2008 08:46

Oh, there have been some more babies since I last popped in

I am sending labour vibes your way lollipopmother. I don't think anyone can deny that it's your turn to have your lo!

biglips · 15/09/2008 08:55

oooooh im so waiting for Lollipop's birth annoucement!!

well the pains are there....will have a go on the contractions timer when i get one as none atm!...it comes on from the afternoon till all thru the night but its not painful enough to wake my dp who is catching up on his beauty sleep !!! !!!! (as im forever waking him up and he cant get comfy on the leather suite downstairs)

MunkiMom · 15/09/2008 09:06

morning gals...((again, but this time at a more decent hour))

i did manage to get back to sleep somewhere around 5am. and luckily, ds managed to sleep til 830 this morning.

i can't wait to hear from lolli! i hope she's got her LO by now!

also, ((can't remember much from my 4am post.))
happy due date mama & minkersmum!!

i'm still half asleep, i suspect. unless the design on my curtains has always winked and waved at me...hmmm. ((just kidding...but yes i do feel pretty knackered)).

hope you all have a nice morning!

minkersmum · 15/09/2008 09:58

Thanks munkimom, Cant believe i've hit 40 weeks.. a 1st for me!

mamamufin i too have a cough/cold, was also hoping with each cough that maybe my waters would break! No such luck so far!! Have given up trying anything to help this one come (for this morning)

Hope you all have a good day and lets hope there is some truth in the full moon theory!!

minkersmum · 15/09/2008 10:04

Oh munkimom i had exact same thing with my ds. He had lovely long hair and didn't get first proper haircut until 2, it really changed the way he looked but he's now 4 and its been long again then short and now in between, he does look different with long hair/short hair but equally cute once you get used to it. It does grow quickly and altho the first few days take a bit of getting used to you'll soon forget about it.
i was really sad to see my ds's curls at the back go, they never grew back even when it was long again. Must have been baby curls!

hopefully · 15/09/2008 10:05

Just graduating Bikerunski, congrats to you! And sympathy on undergoing labour and CS.

minkers
yes it will take some getting used to, fer sher.

i do plan on letting it grow again for a while....maybe til i find a length that suits him, without others thinking he's a girl. ((but knowing me, by then he'll start having a say in how his hair looks!! heheh))

hopefully · 15/09/2008 10:09

Lollipop how exciting! can't believe it is actually happening for you. Looking forward to hearing a birth announcement soon.

For all those enduring messages asking whether you've given birth yet, I feel for you. DP's dad (who has a complex that he is second favourite to DP's mum - they are divorced) phoned on friday to see if we'd had it, and DP was so cross at his dad for thinking that he wouldn't tell him that he said, 'yeah, of course, did we forget to tell you?' Cue much swearing from his dad when he realised DP was being sarky. Whoops... Also daily texts/calls/emails from friends and more distant family.

The stretchmark situation is deteriorating in a big way. Although all the marks are only between 1-3cm long, there are now 5 or 6 of them, and they are creeping up my stomach. I can't believe I am nearly a week overdue. Have to say, if there was a bottle of castor oil in the house right now I don't think I'd be able to hold back from glugging it.

hopefully · 15/09/2008 10:25

I also appear to have developed a cold. Fantastic.

Pitufina · 15/09/2008 10:51

Congratulations for all the new arrivals!!
Don't talk to me about strech mark! I won't even bother counting them, there are so many!
I have had a cold for about a week and a half! So annoying. I start thinking it's gone and it comes back with avengeance!
Thankfully I haven't got to the stage where people ask me if I've had the baby yet. I still have 11 days to go. I'm sure it won't be long though.

nellyonthetelly · 15/09/2008 11:04

Congrats to Jearund and Welcome to Baby Dougie! Good Luck to Lollipop... popping soon I hope.

After lots of internet searching and advice, have changed my mind again... basically after nasty 3rd degree tear first time round, homebirth was ruled out and was offered CS or closely managed delivery on labour ward. Appreciated all the support I've had from you Mumsnetters, but feel that CS is the way to go.... think that although I was really looking forward to that excitement of going into labour, once I got up to hospital it would be traumatic. Last time I was in a birthing centre, no bed, just soft surfaces so gave birth upright... this time it would entail epidural and elective episiotomy with legs probably in stirups so they could get the best view to protect perineum. And all that doesn't guarantee no tearing. For me I think its all or nothing so have just phoned to request elective CS this week... Nervous!
