Good Luck on your decision nellyonthetelly I know it mmust have been a hard one. A planned CS is certainly better than potentially ending up with an emergency and we've had some amazing birth stories from those with electives, just as inspiring.

It must be a relief to stop the worrying and be able to plan.

izzybiz · 15/09/2008 11:15

Hi guys, congrats to all the latest arrivals! (There are so many now I cant keep up!)

I have 5 days left, I still cant quite beleive that he is still in there, was 2 weeks early with both of my othres so was sure he would be the same!

I am sooooo swollen, I look like one of those old ladies that just have legs with toes at the ends!! My feet are starting to actually hurt now, feels like the skin will split

Getting VERY strong BH now every evening( just to get my hopes up I think)

Tried hot baths, curry, and even nookie yesterday what an event that was!!

Will just have to keep waiting for nature to take its course!!xx

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 11:43

wow izzy you sound so ready to rock!

No sign of much here, just waddling around doing the slow list. I told dh last night the bump won't come til I've done my main things and then chilled.

Why am I so certain of this???!! Who knows. But the new moon today could still bring it on!

Good luck to all and kisses blown to all those new babies

I'm off to smite those chores...

mustsleep · 15/09/2008 11:55

biglips · 15/09/2008 11:59

hopefully · 15/09/2008 12:00

Mustsleep postnatal thread here. Glad everything is going so well. I have no idea about the boob situation, but kiskidee and starlight are loitering on the post natal thread and are bound to be able to offer some solutions!

biglips · 15/09/2008 12:01

i do someone can help you on the breastfeeding situation and the sleeping situation sounds good too.

mellabella · 15/09/2008 12:14

wow, can't believe how long the births list is!! Can't wait till all of us can chat about our babies instead of 'when the hell are they gonna be here!!?'

Been having super strong BH for days and an achy back that comes and goes. Really hoping it means something is going to happen soon!

Feel for all those who are getting the all annoying question. My mum has been calling and emailing me every day to try to get some news out of me.

minkersmum · 15/09/2008 12:44

izzybiz iknow exactly how you feel, my first 2 came at 37 and 38 weeks, today i am 40 weeks with the 3rd. Can't believe its still in there!!
Head been 1/5 palpable for a week and can't sit unless i sit to the side as it pushes head up and is soooooooooooo painful.... i just don't know whats keeping it in!!!

MunkiMom · 15/09/2008 13:00

mella its the same here, except its not with phone calls (yet), its just texts and emails.
but its just the nature of others being pregnant i guess. do you have any family lined up to fly over and visit once the baba has arrived?? i dont. not for a bit, i think. ((which is probably a blessing in disguise )) but then again, maybe i'm speaking too soon...

has anyone been experiencing the numbness of the fingers & thighs, yet? im pretty sure it has alot to do with how the baby is laying and the pressure on the nerves/blood flow, hence the pins & needles. but i had it really bad with ds, was even diagnosed with carpal tunnel ((only pregnancy related)) but it was gone the moment he was born....i particularly like the thigh numbness...its all sorts of..err...uncomfortable?!

jennylindinha · 15/09/2008 13:01

Afternoon all! Even on maternity leave I can't keep up with you lot...

Congratulations to the new mums and welcome new babies! Lollipop - hope this is it and you have your LO in your arms. Can'T wait to hear the story. Good luck to all who are due now or over.

I've got 12 days to go - sounds scary! Am trying to sort out our bedroom and the nursery ready for painting (yes, nothing like leaving things to the last minute is there?!) DP and I went to Ikea on Sat to get some huge pax wardrobes and other bits and bobs so that we can hide sort out all our useless crap stuff that is all over the flat. We'd decided in advance to buy it all and get them to deliver it. Once there, we realised that all the stuff we had planned wasn't going to work/fit so we had to do it all again. We were there from 11am until 8.30pm !!! I was so shattered and really thought that if anything would bring on an early birth it would be 9 hours spent hanging around Croydon Ikea... Luckily, it didn't! We also were lucky in that we were queueing for the delivery service when a "dodgy" guy with a van offered to take everything for a reasonable fee. DP went with him and bless the man, he helped carry it all up 2 flights of stairs! What a relief that it's all in the flat and I'm not waiting for the delivery man.

I never want to go there again! (But they were missing two doors so we'll be back there before we know it.) Can't wait for it to all be sorted though, it's going to be SO much nicer here and with more space!

biglips · 15/09/2008 13:20

re - contractions question

does the water gush go first before the contraction or the other way round or sometimes theres no water gush and the contractions come on??

cant u tell ive never had the contractions???

Pidge · 15/09/2008 13:23

lollipopmother - oh, blast, sorry about that, I thought anyone could view the pages without signing up. My projects are not that exciting, so you're not missing much!! The snowflake jumper is shown here it's the Freddie one. Though mine won't look that professional!!

ipanemagirl - I take it you could see the ravelry page without being signed in? Weird. Anyway, believe me this is my first attempt at anything more than straighforward stocking stitch in a single colour. I don't like to do anything that requires too much concentration. And it's not too bad - the jumper is pretty easy, you just have to concentrate for the 25 rows that make the snowflake pattern.

ponymum, brilliant birth story. Congratulations on Sarah's arrival. happymumathome, bikerunski - wonderful news. CONGRATS ALL ROUND.

me, I'm enjoying a chilled out birthday, dd2 played with friends this morning and is now having a post-lunch relax with a Maisie video. I'm gearing up to do a bit of baking for Mr Pidge's birthday which is tomorrow. Me and the girls are going to do a Madeira cake. The kitchen is indeed back in action, though not finished and the builders are in from 7.30am to 5.30pm, so fingers crossed they can finish everything off soon and we can move our stuff back in properly.

So .... who's going to produce a baby on my birthday ... it's an excellent day, I can recommend it!!! Sounds like lollipopmother is a candidate - I had a long 'early labour' (i.e. pre 3cm) with dd1 who was posterior, you have my sympathy. Try to get on all fours to see if the baby will move round a bit. Fingers crossed for you.

jennyL - we've got to brave Croydon Ikea soon too, as various bits of our kitchen are missing. Marvellous dp has volunteered to do it by himself though, as I think that would be the final straw for me right now. The combination of Ikea plus an 8.5 month pregnant woman, a 6 year old and a 3.5 year old is not a joyful one!

Pitufina · 15/09/2008 13:36

Pidge - Happy birthday!
It is a good day for celebrations. It's our wedding anniversary too. 6 years already!! Scary!

hopefully · 15/09/2008 13:43

Happy birthday Pidge! Biglips the textbook labour will begin with waters breaking, followed by contractions, but it's also perfectly common for waters to go at some point during labour, and it's even heard of for babies to be born inside the sac of amniotic fluid (said to be good luck, I think).

Jennylindinha your ikea trip sounds epic - we may have to do one with tiny baby, as we don't quite know how our current furniture will fit into new house (moving on 4th October), but hope we'll be there less time than you!

Yuck, have a stonker of a headache - think it's from being dehydrated, due to all my bodily fluids exiting via the nose over the past 6 hours.

Is anyone else insanely thirsty? I was getting a bit worried about it, but a quick google tells me I should only be concerned if I'm not also peeing lots, and I am definitely peeing plenty!

becaroo · 15/09/2008 13:57

Congrats to bikerunski on your arrival x

Good luck nelly for your cs - my sister had an elective cs and it was a very calm, non-stressful experience

OOOhhh, hope lolli has had her LO by now...how exciting!

Still nothing here except evel bh and perios like cramps

Have a good day all x

mellabella · 15/09/2008 14:20

hey munki as of now... they're not even planning on coming over. my mum and sisters came to visit for 2 weeks back in June and it was kind of a disaster tbh. My mum hated it here so looks like they're going to wait until we come to visit them this winter. homebodies back in minnesota i guess....

mum2bagain · 15/09/2008 14:40

Wow - Can't believe it's that time. All I've done is a bit of cleaning (well a lot) and it's almost time to pick the boys up from school. Lets hope the next 7 days go as quick if I don't have LO before. Does time fly for you lot? Was planning on fitting a nap in at some point today seeing as I was up at 4am.

jennylindinha · 15/09/2008 14:43

Happy Birthday Pidge! Glad you are having a chilled out day, sounds like you deserve one after all the kitchen traumas...

Hopefully, that is the longest time I have ever spent in one shop and I don't intend to do it again!!! Mind you, at least they had everything (apart from those two doors...) as usually they have run out of all the bits you want. That certainly happened a few times with the kitchen. By the way, I'm prone to a few headaches these days too so maybe it's a late pregnancy thing and we all need to drink more water...

I'm impressed with the knitting, those of you doing it. I started a really cute jacket AGES ago and still haven't finished the back. At least I knew I'd never get round to it whilst working and made sure it was a bigger size as I might perhaps have a chance of finishing it in time for the baby to wear it!

How are things with you now Becaroo?

ninja · 15/09/2008 14:43

Hi biglips my waters never went - they had to pop them and said that they were VERY tough!!

I'd been in labour a long time then and was knackered (Missed a night's sleep) so I was just 'whatever'!

Debs75 · 15/09/2008 15:17

Munkimom I had the same worries when we first cut ds hair. about 2 years old. After that he was diagnosed autistic and we started the long battle where he wouldn't let us touch his hair (we tried cutting in his sleep) he is now 9 1/2 and we can finally clipper his hair, with a lot of crying and chasing round the house. He looks so different with cropped hair vs due a trim hair that I feel like he is a different child, also when I look at piccies of him at 2 when he had blond hair he looks a completely different boy. Well he is growing up and he can't look the same forever, and he has got cuter over the years.

Lollipop Just checked the list and noticed you are 11 days overdue, you can't keep hold of lo forever, hope all is well and you have good birth story to tell.

notsoslimnow · 15/09/2008 15:19

hello ladies...well i have had a major development!!! this morning i was fiddling about trying to adjust an ill fitting bra i had on(unfortunately most are these days) when all of a sudden a massive spurt of bright yellow stuff came out!!! i think it was collostrum!!!! wow wow wow.....i cant believe it,it looks like maybe i DO have some milk ducts in working order!!!
anyway i was wondering if i should take advantage of this and get a breast pump on them?does anyone know if this should be done? im 39+1.THANKS

Debs75 · 15/09/2008 15:29

Just a quick one to say I tried the pudding trick today, can't remember who thought it was a precursor to labour. Have been craving ever since saturday so went to pub for dinner and had a massive slice of chocolate heaven cake, it cost me £3.65 but was worth every penny, it took me 25 mins to eat as baby's foot is poking my ribs when I sit down, I tried to get comfy and whacked my head on the wall. Full of chocolately goodness now so lots of energy for tomorrow's induction gonna rest up for the next 20 hours or so and focus on seeing myself through labour.

Jenntlindinha You are so brave going to Ikea when so near but staying there all day I think you're slightly mad or a glutton for punishment. With stanima like that you should breeze through labour.

hopefully · 15/09/2008 15:29

Notsoslim there's nothing to stop you having a go with a breast pump, but be warned it is recommended as a labour induction method, so you might bring things on rather earlier than expected!

Have become baking queen again today - made a batch of muffins, a rather flat loaf of bread (not sure what happened there...) and contemplating some cookies. For some reason baking alleviates my being overdue depression - probably the sugar hit rather than any psychology involved in the creation of food/sense of achievement!

jennylindinha · 15/09/2008 15:50

Mmmm, choc cake sounds like a great plan Debs! I may have to pop to the local shop... Or I suppose I could try baking one myself like hopefully... Have only recently got a decent oven and still haven't really baked anything in it - I'm so out of practice. Now might be the perfect time!

LOL at the thought of labour being a breeze after coping with 9 hours in Ikea! Let's hope it's true. DP was a bit worried in case things happened and we had to leave our ill-gotten gains behind after all our work!
