Quick update. Calle hospital, am off for a check! Arghhh

MunkiMom · 18/09/2008 14:46

ok, gimme a sec to catch up...
ninja thanks for the advice on the duvet tog ;)

melT i'd definitely phone the mw about the blood!
keep us posted if ya can!

becaroo
::: sigh :::: im right there with ya about letting it happen when
it happens. i haven't started the pineapple eating yet or anything like that,
but my timer will go off when he's fully cooked!
((i'm not convinced having spicy foods/curries will do anything for me,
as throughout my pregnancy, i've been eating REALLLY hot hot-sauce on almost everything...
a craving perhaps? but yes, nothing has ever happened. ))

dh & i did the deed last night...not in hopes to trigger, but really i put on my best
"interested" face and smile mostly to help him out. . but it was the worst
ever! boy inside was twitching around in such a weird way, and it made me feel soooo
uncomfortable in more ways than one. so i hope he's sorted for now, cos its all he getting for
a while me thinks!!

welcome lizzyleek! you are only a few days behind me (edd)...how you managed a 3mile walk,...welll,
its just beyond me!! wow! here's hoping you wont have to wait too much longer!

Leonie! awwww! don't be silly! ((although its exactly how i've been feeling
when its come down to that moment)) its not sexy is it?!??

Pidge · 18/09/2008 14:46

LeonieD - good stuff on the 2nd opinion, here's all fingers and toes crossed for you that they are supportive.

MelT76 ..... oooooooooh!

DebitheScot · 18/09/2008 14:57

Ipanemagirl that's what happened to me before I went into labour too. Little bits of waters leaking throughout the evening. I phoned the hosp and tehy said keep an eye on it and if it went brown at all to go in but otherwise just hang on and wait for something to happen. Within about 6 hours of the 1st leak my contractions started and 6 hours later ds2 was born. It must have been my hind waters as my 'other' waters were still intact until late in the labour. Although as ds2 was born there was even more water that came gushing out so I obviously had lots of fluid.

MunkiMom · 18/09/2008 15:04

had my last MW appt today.
she poked around, and position isnt perfect...seems to still be diagonal but she's not too worried about that, so i'm not either.
he'll move when he needs to.

she did express the concerns for me being VBAC. and let me know what they watch for during labour for a VBAC woman, and i felt really assured and alot of questions answered.

she did offer to do a sweep today. i declined, since i have another appt in 6 days with the consultant who will be doing an internal then anyways. ((thought i'd give the boy that amount of time to make an appearance on his own first.))

this mw is a bit curious as to baby's readiness, seeing as my first/last elective c/s was at 39+6 so nearly to term...and even by then, i hadn't experienced ANYthing close of a niggle. so more than likely, i wouldve been over due with ds1. so hard to say with this one..

its all so exciting! ((i dont really mind how the boy arrives, personally)). just want it to be the safest way possible for us both.

((sorry for the long posts!!)) i'm off for a nap...right after i cut a hole in the mattress so i can lay on my belly! ahhh! heheheheheh not really. but i'm looking forward to sleeping on the belly again!

blimey · 18/09/2008 15:25

Best of luck you VBAC ladies - did you know there is a specific vbac thread on the yahoo groups which might give more info?

Leonie for blokes a shag's a shag aint it? ie a good thing for them whatever we might feel about ourselves - ( I also feel a bit low on sex appeal)

mum2bagain · 18/09/2008 16:10

Hi Lizzyleek Your only 1 day behind me. Due 22nd.

I feel tons better today after a good nights sleep. Was so emotional, tired and fed up on Tuesday I thought I was going insane. Kept myself busy today (I am usually anyway with 3 other DC), but now I'm thinking it's not so bad having to wait. I had a bit of a show this morning, I know that doesn't really mean a hell of a lot, but I am hoping it will happen over the next few days.

Good luck for some births today ladies, I'm really excited for us all!!

plusonemore · 18/09/2008 16:12

ooh munki the idea of cutting a hole in the mattress is so appealing! think i might try to find a spa that offers treatments with one of those beds with a specially cut out bit!!

Happy due date to me, Becaroo and MelT76. Sounds like things might be happening for you Mel, so fingers crossed!

I've tried the loving so I'm now off to scoff some pineapple. If still no joy I might get hubby to pick up some raspberry leaf tea tablets. Does anyone know if Tesco's sell them?

I've had enough now and just want baby to arrive!

Here's to plenty more new arrivals!
xx

Flumpytigger · 18/09/2008 16:19

P.S. if one more person calls or texts to ask me if there is any news I'm going to scream!!!!!!!
I clearly just plan to pop this baby out in the corner and not tell anyone - duh!!!!
Sorry rant over

foxytocin · 18/09/2008 16:35

for those of you who are being offered or feel pressured to have an induction for late babies, you may find this interesting:

The NICE guidelines are now advising not to induce before 42 weeks.
You can access N.I.C.E. (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) on the web. I haven't looked for anything. Just thought I'd pass on what I know.

(I had an induction that i wouldn't wish on anyone so I would advise anyone to investigate the Benefits Risks Alternatives and Necessity of having one for a pg that is still within the normal length of a pregnancy.)

mamamufin · 18/09/2008 17:23

Hi guys

Thanks for all the lovely Birthday messages and hacking cough sympathies.
Just catching up with th ethread.
Feeling a bit better today as my best friend came to visit me and she lives abroad so dont see her ofen. Cough remains though I am trying the linctus I dont fancy the garlic clove .
I have noticed mink is still on the list. I cant be sure but didnt she have her baby in four hours yesterday? I cant keep up.
I understand foxy that 42 weeks is now the guidlines but I was told that my placenta was "knackered" and "on its way out" when I was 40+12 and had my ds. Its making me extra cautious this time as I had no explanation why it was calcified? so much. I dont want to frighten anyone as this is not the norm.
Thinkin of you lot with leakages, aches, pains and hicks. Going out to franky and bennys for tea. Catch up later, or in the middle of the night, Take care xx

becaroo · 18/09/2008 17:49

leonie sorry to hear about your cervix (NEVER thought I would ever get that sentance into a conversation !!!!!!)

My midwife was on hols today (not bothered as I dont really like her) but the replacement had me in and out in under 2 mins! Told me they may do a sweep on monday at the hospital if I havent had the baby by then - I felt like saying "not if I dont want one they bloody wont!!!!!"

Good news that you are getting another go on sunday though.....

Anyway, baby head down and in the OC position so thats good. Heard heartbeat. Am measuring 42 cms but I guess thats because of the too much fluid thing?

People have been ringing and texting all day.....would it be ungracious to tell them all to feck off????????

foxytocin · 18/09/2008 17:55

Mamamuffin, did the do any tests to see how the placenta was functioning? I don't know anything about it tbh. All I know is that I got a doppler scan of the placenta earlier in this pg to check out its function because of acute PE last time.

becaroo · 18/09/2008 17:55

munki yes, my dh wont be getting any more for a while thats for sure!

TMI ALERT:
He was doing his best, poor dear, but just at a crucial moment I broke wind in a rather spectacular fashion which sort of ruined the moment for me - didnt seem to bother dh though!

Interesting stuff on the NICE guidelines.....I really want to avoid induction if at all possible.

Wonder how Mel is getting on?????????

quick update... EDD today. Went to MW for sweep who told me that I was only slightly effaced and that the sweep was unlikely to do much. Has rebooked me for Tuesday when she thinks will be much more helpful. Funnily enough I'm ok with that at the moment - very happy for the babe to stay put for next few days and for me to get some more rest.

Celebrating due date with a hot curry, but more because we fancied one than anything else. Did get some action last night but was pretty tricky and think that a repeat performance may be unlikely in next few days...

Good luck to anyone in more progressive stages than me!

hiya all!....blardy ell! i thought that was it before as i couldnt get off the chair and i had a pain on my tummy....can my tummy get any harder than concrete?!??....managed to get out today to the park, got there in mums car, and the weather was fabulous!!!

ive told dp to stay in tonight as ive been in more pain today than ever but literally nearly all day. Sweep still on tmrw @ 9am....i wonder if ill be too sore to have it done!

mamamufin · 18/09/2008 19:36

Gosh that sounds promising biglips fingers crossed for you.

foxy I had no placenta doppler last time at all. I was not monitored just book in for an induction on day 14. However, luckily I went natrually just b4 this. I plan to go natrually again but I am going to insist they doppler my placenta. Do you know how often this should be done. I want to avoid induction if poss.

becaroo · 18/09/2008 19:43

Hi ladies.....

You know a "show"? - does it have to be blood tinged or brown? Just been to the loo and wiped and had loads of white snot like stuff on the paper.

Have been having bh all day but thats nothing new for me so have just ignored them.
