Help!! I'm sure it's not possible, but can someone help me out here? I woke up this morning with the gut from hell, and had what I thought was stomach ache related to that for a couple of hours afterwards.

However, the pain is now a little more intense, and coming at something like 5 minute intervals for about 30 seconds at a time. Not exactly, some more, some less. However, I'm not in agony, and to be honest, it still feels more like gut pain than anything happening in the uterus department. I can easily talk through the pain (if there was anyone to talk to in the house), but it is slightly ccatching my breath.

Should I get DP home from work? Call MW? Or sit on the toilet for a bit longer and see if my gut produces anything? It's possible I poisoned myself with excess chorizo and chilli pizza last night, so don't want to hassle anyone unnecessarily!!

blimey · 17/09/2008 09:27

umm, how about trying peppermint tea and paracetamol to see if that helps at all? plus no harm in calling midwife as well I reckon, see what they advise

ooh and try getting in position on all fours with head down and bum in the air - helps pass gas/ poo which will be useful if you are in labour or not!!
I had horrible gutrot pains the other night but it was not regular so my money is on labour but the other things I suggested could help with bowel pains

hopefully sounds a bit like what i had a couple of weeks ago. ds woke at 5am, when i went to see him i realised i had terrible pains across tummy, constant but got worse and better also. very sharp pain, not like bh. eventually went to hosp bout 8, they monitored and everything was fine. MW said she thought early labour but nothing since (week and half ago!) i think i'd just been overdoing it as had gone back to work for that week after summer hols. So i started maternity leave early! Yay! Try some paracetemol?

hopefully · 17/09/2008 09:32

Thanks blimey. Will pop a paracetamol and try the bottom wiggling (may close curtain first!) and see if that relieves things....

ninja · 17/09/2008 09:44

Looks like it's a 3 mum race between MelT76, ellideb and minkersmum although it might just be a race now for second and third place!

ninja · 17/09/2008 09:47

Sorry hopefully, you might be in the race too??

Might be worth having a bath and massaging your tummy, that can help too.

mamamufin · 17/09/2008 09:54

Gosh guys goodluck. xx

hopefully · 17/09/2008 09:56

Harrumph. taken paracetamol and had another go on the toilet (sorry, tmi) and pain has definitely eased. Still painful, but less regular (I think) and less intense. Think it's possibly a false alarm, but maybe it will kick off again, been pretty constant since 6am... Maybe v early labour or something. I could be like this for a week!

ellideb · 17/09/2008 09:57

Thanks for the luck girls. plusonemore My show came out in parts this morning, I noticed it when I wiped it started off mucousy and brown then it was still coming out red and streaky for the next hour so I popped on a pad. When I went to the loo an hour later it was a real show, a big blob of mucus like clear jelly streaked with red blood. It came off onto the tissue. I suppose for some people it can plop out into the loo, maybe that's why some people never 'have one' but I found it quite sticky and more then a bit gross!

I'm all alone now and feeling just a little bit tearful and sorry for myself as DP has left for work and I don't want to be alone. We decided he should go after we talked about it as being home is just eating into his paternity leave, he is very available and will come home at the drop of a hat though, I've got 3 numbers to get hold of him if I need to! My sister will be over around 11ish so at least I'l have some company then! Of course I also have you girls to chat to so I could do with a virtual hug right now!

ninja · 17/09/2008 10:05

{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}

Try and have a bath (I know it's my solution to everything) or watch some crappy TV.

It won't be long now and we're all waiting with bated breath for the next installment.

becaroo · 17/09/2008 10:07

*Mel - my first labour just started - no waters or show so, yes it could be it!!!!

*lolli - huge conrats on the birth of Elizabeth x

*cranmorefifi - nothing yet - up all night again though. Period cramps and bh. Bluergh.

*minikers and ellideb - best of luck girls! Cant wait for the birth announcements x

*Blimey - these last few days are awful arent they? So fed up of all the mothers at school asking stupid questions like "are you still here????" Becaroo: "No, its a bloody hologram you mad witch!!!" (I may be feeling a bit hormonal )

Will keep PC on today as there seem to be a few babies on the way!! Woo hoo!!

hopefully · 17/09/2008 10:10

Poor you ellideb, at least you'll have company in an hour or so. I found massaging the bump helps a bit (am using a drop of clary sage in almond oil in the hope of regulating Cxs if that's what they are)

I didn't even think of telling DP not to go to work, as was sure it was just stomach ache, but now I really can't make up my mind whether to call him. Trouble is, if I phone him to warn him that something may happen, he'll come rushing back home and potentially waste a day of leave for nothing.

becaroo · 17/09/2008 10:11

*mama - it is safe to take codiene linctus for coughs in pregnancy but I warn you it tastes like sick!

*Ellideb - Could you pop a dvd or something on or listen to some music? When I am in the house alone I always like to have some noise somewhere! How exciting!!!! Keep us posted!

*hopefully - could be the start of something for you!

Might have a nap - awful night last night again. So excited about all the babies arriving today!!!!

biglips · 17/09/2008 10:25

ooooh sounds promising on here for those babies to arrive.......at last!

still got pains but it seems the babys head is in my bum since yesterday and the contractions seems to kick off more when i stand and walk round....and sitting down!.......cant win!!

Fingers cross to Hopefully xxxx

biglips · 17/09/2008 10:26

oh how many arnica tabs do i need to take before i go into labour??

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/09/2008 10:26

OOhhhhhhh, it looks like it's all kicking off today. Good luck ladies, you can do it

minkersmum · 17/09/2008 10:27

Hello everyone !!

Baby arrived at 5.42am!! A big chubby girl 9lb9oz and 64cm long!!

Midwife arrived just before 5 and i was pretty sore, def needing some gas and air, managed to avoid any internals as new i was well ready to get in pool.

Only in the pool 15 mins when contractions got 'pushy'

Very hairy head appeared soon after, chubby body followed not too long after!

Everything intact and placenta out 40 mins later (record time for me as last two took over 2 hours to appear!)

Can't believe she's finally here!! And feeding really well, clearly going to like her grub!!

Big brother (4) and big sister (22mnths) slept thru it and we woke them as soon as baby born. Was lovely!!

No name yet, so hard to decide!!

I'm over the moon so pleased to be at home and finally have my little one in my arms!

P.s everyone still awaiting babies it might be worth noting that dp and i had an early night last night and a little 'natural induction'IYKWIM

notsoslimnow · 17/09/2008 10:40

morning all, wow sounds like a busy day ahead of us (perhaps)! well i had a massive blob of mucas appear this morning and it had sort of streaky brown (sorry if tmi) in it.there was a massive amount though which shocked me a bit! bot sure if it is this show thing or just pregnancy hormones? anyone had similar (im 39+3).

notsoslimnow · 17/09/2008 10:42

minkersmum...what a fab story CONGRATULATIONS xxx

mustsleep · 17/09/2008 10:43

congrats minkersmum sounds like a lovely birth and another big baby!!

biglips · 17/09/2008 10:49

minkersmum - did i read that right that your baby is 64cm LONG!!!!!!

many congrats xxx

ellideb · 17/09/2008 10:52

"No, its a bloody hologram you mad witch!!!" (I may be feeling a bit hormonal )
becaroo!

I've put the on the TENS now (no mean feat when you are doing it by yourself!) and taken a paracetamol+codeine and the TENS is bliss I'm just electrocuting those contractions! Bring 'em on!

hopefully I think it may well be early labour for you! Clary sage is a good idea I have been using it myself although I don't want anybody or anything touching my bump at the moment its too sore!

I think I'll go and watch some crappy TV now, does Jeremy Kyle qualify?

MunkiMom · 17/09/2008 10:55

minkers!!*
huge congrats and welcome Baby Minkers to the world!

plusone i dont think its a silly question at all! i was wondering the same, tbh.
i have no idea what to expect with the "show/plug" either.

as far as my belly & me...
i had a sharp pain on the right side of the belly late last night, fell asleep anyways. only woke up with a headache.
i was feeling a bit "in a funk" last night so perhaps things are trying to kick off and get going.

this morning, got a call from my mate letting me know that yet another "dark cloud" has hit close to home. ((before it was my neighbour, nan-to-be))
and this is a warning, its not good news for an acquaintance of mine so if you'd rather not read, skip to the bottom))
the acquaintance had a baby at the end of august. i think he only had one kidney, and had been seen regularly since then.
the oldest dd went up to check on him at some point in the night or this morning. ((there are 4 other children in the house)).
and found he wasn't breathing...but not to go any further with the detail i know, baby jack has passed away after just weeks of life.
and although i don't particularly get along with the mother or agree with the way she is with her kids, i'd still NEVER wish this on anyone!!so, i got up early and
started to make little lasagnas to drop around to hers later on ((the last thing i can imagine she should fuss with is worrying about
and stressing about the other kids today...)) so just gonna drop those off with the nigella mint chocolate cookies i made last night.

i feel sooo sad for her.

while making the lasagnas, i started getting that really sharp pain in my right side again. went to the loo for a while, it started to hurt more.
did my "business" and now im just sitting down for a mo...having a rest. kinda scared me! thought i was gonna pop for sure just then!
feeling veery light headed, and a little nauseous. pain has subsided since sitting down...but the boy in the hole is moving almost in sync to a heartbeat!
its the strangest thing to watch!

so much activity today!! although i think mine is just a false alarm, but perhaps its a good thing DH bunked off work today...

i can't wait to hear of more arrivals later today/tomorrow! anyone else wanna jump on the baby band wagon today?
are we going to make the 17th a record so far, bringing the most babies in a single day? ((for our group,i mean))

anyways, take it easy today gals!
i'm off to pack up the food and deliver it.

ciao 4 now!
x

ellideb · 17/09/2008 10:55
