I NEVER stand on the tube or bus. [wondering if it because I look ancient, rather than pregnant, emoticon]

swampster · 23/09/2008 09:46

if it IS... [retires to pedants' corner]

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 09:58

Swampy- how about this for pendants' corner:

DD bought home her Spree Offer Book from school and on the printed distribution envelope it declared -

'The BENIFITS of owning a Spree Book....'

I felt like sending it back with a note saying 'I will buy your book when you have the manners to check your spelling!'

Hurumphhh.

ha, at Wilson's pie shop (it is yorkshire) on our high street it says.
"Pork Pie and Peas now bean served." makes me laugh whenever I pass it.
The sandwich shop also has a sign that says "kids buttes £1"

swampster · 23/09/2008 10:05

Come stand with me in the corner, MarkStretch! Good luck with the scan today.

swampster · 23/09/2008 10:06

Come stand in the corner with me?

CRAP pedant!

swampster · 23/09/2008 10:07

IDBI

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 10:11

A kids butte for £1

Ha!

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 10:42

Brilliant - stuff like that always makes me laugh too!

Not long to go till your scan now Markstretch- good luck and hope he/she is in a good position for you to find out which sex it is.

TinkerBellesMum · 23/09/2008 10:59

idontbelieveit there is no pattern, just need to split a length and with the right fabric you don't even need any sewing.

MarkStretch, there's plenty of neutral stuff you can get if your baby decides to be awkward. Speaking of which, anyone got any ideas to move baby from sitting in my pelvis so we can see what she is on Friday? (can you tell I've already decided?)

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 11:46

Tink - maybe try some optimal foetal positioning pose (on knees, head resting on hands) before the scan - creates space in your uterus and the tilting of the body will hopefully move the little one up out of the pelvis abit.

TinkerBellesMum · 23/09/2008 12:12

Maybe I could try to reverse the ice thing? Put some on my pelvis so the baby moves up and away from it I'm determined to prove to him it's a girl lol

Questionkid · 23/09/2008 12:38

Here's the newbie in me coming out again - TBD - how do you know the baby is sitting in your pelvis? What're the signs?

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 13:00

I'm back.

All was well.

And it's.....

A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
swampster · 23/09/2008 13:02

DAMN!!!

How much do I owe you?

Huge congratulations - take it from me, boys are HELL!!!

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 13:08

You owe me 4 million pounds

DH was so surprised he nearly fell off his chair! The first scan they couldn't see or check the heart as he (I CAN SAY HE NOW!) was lying on his front so they made me go for a walk for 20 mins and then come back. I ran up and down the stairs!

Then they called us back in and checked him over and we saw a lovely side view of a tiny willy.

So technically, at the moment, I have a penis.

Cool.

KazzaL · 23/09/2008 13:12

Congrats markstretch - little boys are lovely

IDBI - I'll keep my fingers crossed, but the odds are in your favour

i've got my scan a week on friday, DH & I are about 99% decided that we're not going to find out the flavour, there is a little bit of me that still wants to know - should I take a sneaky look at the screen when the sonographer says not to? getting fed up with people looking at me strangely when I say we're not going to find out especially as this is No2.

Finally gave in and got out my bump-friendly clothes at the weekend - sooooo much more comfy

Trying to eat less cakes & chocs too - confessed to DH how I was popping over to waitrose most days at lunch and coming back with a cake, a big bar of choc & a bag of haroibo for the afternoon - roll on the end of Jan and finishing work as I'm soooo bored.

mrsy · 23/09/2008 13:13

Wow - weird MS!

I think it's pretty bizarre that I am technically carrying half of my grandchildren, but having a willy would mess me up! You have a good excuse for scratching yourself, farting/belching and hogging the remote, now!

herbgarden · 23/09/2008 13:35

Aw congrats Markstretch...little boys are cool !....

I keep wondering whether to slip the sonographer a note tomorrow and ask her what it is without dh knowing. Part of me is dying to know and part of me doesn't want to spoil the surprise and dh says he doesn't want to know. Plus, I'm hopeless at keeping anything to myself so I know I'd spill the beans particularly to my mum who has adamantly said she doesn't want to know ! Decisions Decisions.

Kazzal lucky you that you are just getting out the bump clothes.... I am sooo bored of my bump clothes already and there's still a long slog to go. If it's any consolation I have slipped into the raisin croissant en route to work - a biscuit here, Haribo's there, since I can't see why it hurts but I know I'll regret it when I can't shift that stone or two at the end......

Must go and do some more work....I wonder when they'll cotton on to me on Mnet at work and prevent access....like tons of other sites at work.

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 14:20

Congrats Markstretch -little boys are great though along with Rosieposey you're going to have to start practicing on your quick reflex ducks for nappy changing time!

Herbgarden, KazzaL - you could always ask Sonographer to write it down on a piece of paper to put in an envelope which you can open later if you both cave...

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 14:22

Oh my god.

I've never changed a little boys nappy.

There's so much to think about!

OP posts:
TinkerBellesMum · 23/09/2008 14:39

KazzaL, it's not usually that easy to tell. My brothers boys are well hung and everyone that has scanned them has commented (along the lines of "wow, that's definitely a boy!") apparently they didn't need to be told, it was even obvious to them. Having had a baby at this stage I can understand why it's not easy to tell, we only knew she was a girl because we counted the holes, there really was no other way to tell. On the scan they can see a little more emphasis - basically the lips of a girl and the testicles on the boy develop the same, as do the clitoris and penis. They can see what's inside them on a scan, but it's only a little colour difference.

That was a right old ramble! Hope it makes sense.

MS, hoping for something a little less energetic to move baby!

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 14:46

Fuck fuck fuck just had a bleed. Waiting for the midwife to call me back.

OP posts:
swampster · 23/09/2008 15:06

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 15:23

Markstretch - hope all is ok and let us know how it goes with the midwife.
