My physio said that's one of the main problems. They'd sort out the problem and people would go back to their normal life thinking they were cured then they'd be in a worse position in a couple of days. Like you say, the best way to deal with it is posture and learning how to move properly. Without that physio doesn't do anything.

lardybump · 22/09/2008 18:13

evening all I have been so busy today... I am in agony with a toothache at the moment. My gum around the tooth is blue and swollen. I have taken paracetamol today and yesterday hope I can get into dentist tomorrow because I can not take much more of the pain..... ouch...............

Anyway enough about me how is everyone else I am 18 weeks now....

herbgarden · 22/09/2008 18:15

just had an embarassing situation on the bus with ds en route home (he's 2 years nearly 3 months) - a very large lady got on and he said, "Mummy that lady has a big fat belly"....I've been saying that I have a big fat belly recently so that's where he's got that from but I just wanted to curl up and hide. Luckily I distracted him by asking him lots of questions about his day at nursery but I suppose it can only get worse

herbgarden · 22/09/2008 18:24

ooh lardybump not nice - I think teeth are always a bit more sensitive during pregnancy (is that right or am I making it up ?!)...
Hope the dentist can sort it for you.

lardybump · 22/09/2008 18:36

LOL at you little one hb. They pick up on everything dont they .. I think your right about pregnancy making your teeth more sensitive, I just hope I get in tomorrow or I may just cry..

shubiedoo · 22/09/2008 18:40

Questionkid my scan is Thursday as well! I'm a bit nervous...

TinkerBellesMum · 22/09/2008 19:02

Gums receeed in pregnancy so you become open to tooth problems and current ones are made worse.

dinkystinky · 22/09/2008 19:03

Lardybump - snap, am having toothache too (back left molar) though am steadfastly ignoring it in the hope it will go away (am holding out till I get my MatB1 so can get free dental treatment as suspect may need a filling redoing)! Hope you get your dentist appointment though and feel better soon.

Love the story about your DS Herbgarden - brilliant. When I was little was on the bus with my sister (aged 3 then) and childminder and an african guy got on only for my sister to say (at top of her voice) "Cor, isnt he black!". Childminder was mortified and explained that people are all different colours, only for my sister to announce "I'm not -I'm brown like my sister. He's black because he stood in the sun too long!"....

oooggs · 22/09/2008 20:05

tink - can't see any wrap pics on your profile

nkweto · 22/09/2008 20:14

hello all,

Haven't managed to catch up with all the thread.. so have just read the last few posts!

Had my '20'week (am actually 21 weeks) scan today, all looks good with baby and apparently baby is a girl.. !!! so very excited, if we end up having a boy and girl, but I won't really think about it until we meet LO in real life.

I apparently have some kind of thyroid disfunction, so have to go back to the hospital next week.. booo... hopefully it is just a hormonal fluctuation and the blood tests results will be fine next week.

Re: Tube discussion. There is generally at least one nice person in a carriage (unless it is too busy, when even the nice person cant manouver you into a seat!).. position yourself in the middle section pole within a bank of seats and sigh pitifully... hopefully someone will give you a seat there and then, but if they don't when anyone leaves you are great position to grab the seat! As I write this, it is starting to occur to me, that I am becoming quite a 'tube seat geek'...oh dear, must find more interesting things to think about.

MamaGoose · 22/09/2008 20:24

My most outrageous tube experience involved the District line. I was pretty huge with DS2 and was waiting for a seat. Someone stood up, and as I went to sit down the woman (yes, woman) in her 30s standing next to me, nipped in first and sat down. I stared at her aghast and she shrugged her shoulders at me!!! The people around us actually gasped out loud and someone else immediately got up to let me have a seat. It was the worst behaviour I had ever seen. I assume she had 'issues' of her own!

MamaGoose · 22/09/2008 20:27

idontbelieveit - sounds very nerve-racking but as others have said, you've got an 85% chance things will be fine which is a big big majority. Fingers crossed for you.

nkweto · 22/09/2008 20:52

idontbelieveit - just seen your message earlier in the thread.. as others have said, percentages are still massively in your favour, but I hope you are feeling better..

MamaGoose, it has been my observation during both of my pregnancies that the worst offenders for not offering seats are women in their 20/30/40's... older women and young men shine through as the kindest !

swampster · 22/09/2008 21:22

Littlemissnorty - there is a little Facebook gremlin who has got it in for you and goes around deleting ALL your posts!

But the real reason for your message not being in the due date discussion is probably because you posted it in the introductions one [smug geek emoticon].

Now go back in there and make yourself visible to us all so I can harass you properly or I'll set onwardsandupwards on you!

TinkerBellesMum · 22/09/2008 22:37

There's a folder in my pictures. I'll send you a link if you're having problems.

swampster · 22/09/2008 23:06

Just been on the baby name voyager and my choice of name is too damn popular! Maybe is is just in the US...

swampster · 22/09/2008 23:11

Satisfyingly lower on the National Statistics site.

Just as well, we've already told DS1 the baby's name and he likes it!

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 07:25

IT IS MY SCAN TODAY!

I AM SO EXCITED!

AND VERY VERY NERVOUS!

herbgarden · 23/09/2008 08:25

good luck Mark Stretch - no doubt you'll let us all know how it went later on !

idontbelieveit · 23/09/2008 08:31

thanks everyone for your kind words, I am starting to feel more positive now i've got over the initial shock. Going to try not to think about things until the test results come back.

Good luck markstretch.
I have to say, even though we got a bit of a shock on thursday it was still amazing to see our little girl and we got a really good look in the second scan as they had a monitor above my head as well as the one that the consultant was using.
Are you going to find out the sex?

OandU, i used to have Alexander technique sessions at music college and still use it now on my singing pupils. It's very effective and relaxing isn't it.

Re tube, I've not been in to Leeds without having to stand for at least some of the journey. It's rubbish, it's times like this when i wish we had a car...

Tink, is the pattern for the wraps hard to do? i would really like to have a go, or get my MIL to as she's very good at sewing.

hope everyone has a good day.

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 08:41

Glad you're feeling better about things IDB.

MamaGoose - I truly believe in tube karma so that mean lady has an entire pregnancy of standing up on the tube coming up ahead of her at some point....

Nkweto - I'm a tube seat geek too for commute in to work in the morning, even as far as having worked out where to stand to access doors for carriages without getting people push into me and my bump and maximise possibility of finding a seat. Tis truly tragic what I have been reduced to. Though am pleased to say that this morning, I actually saw another man in the same carriage give up his seat to another pregnant lady so the age of chivalry is not quite dead yet...

dinkystinky · 23/09/2008 08:42

Good luck for your scan today Markstretch! So exciting

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 09:09

I am hoping to find out.

We are taking dd and dsd out for dinner and letting them each buy a little thing for the baby to help them both feel more included so they will be gutted if the sonographer can't tell!

We shall see......

2 hours to fill, hmmmm....

Am feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning. Ds up at 5 am , I still have a stinking cold, sore throat, a cold sore and a spot on my shoulder that is obviously trying to grow into another head . Going to have to get out of the house and keep myself and ds occupied to prevent the pair of us just slobbing around in our pjs all day.

IDBI - glad you are feeling a bit more positive about things. Fingers crossed for you.

MS - good luck for today. My scan is ages off, so I shall spend the next 3 weeks until I get to see my lo again getting very excited for everyone else

lardy & dinky - think you guys should get to the dentist asap.

nkweto - a little girl, how lovely . Hope the thyroid thing turns out to be a blip.

for all those of you who have to put up with rude commuters, but good to hear that some people still have a sense of decency. I am back at uni from next Monday and am really not looking forward to the train journey into Manchester. It is like a cattle truck by the time it reaches my station. You cannot even get into the carriage properly, let alone see/get a seat. It is only a 15 minute journey, but it pisses me off that there is nothing to hold on to apart from the sardine person next to you. Shocking!

Hope everyone has a good day .

MarkStretch · 23/09/2008 09:25

Listening to the tube stories makes me appreciate living in Ruuuuural Naaaaarwich.

I dunt gooo on no toobs.

However I may get on a bus and hard stare at people sitting in priority seats so I can feel I am contributing to the plight of my fellow women.
