Thanks I always like curry when I'm pregnant, not craving really just fancy them all the time (IYSWIM) but TBD isn't such a fan This is the first real craving of Indian food, although I think the sour cream and onion rings of past pregnancies have come out of Indian food.

Hello ladies, I haven't been on here for awhile, had a busy summer.
Who's had their 20-week scan already?
Mine is next week, I'm excited but also nervous, because ds2 was born with clubfeet and it was at the scan we found out. If it's another clubfoot baby I can handle that, but it just makes me worry about other problems!

jenniferturkington · 16/09/2008 16:33

Interesting shubie, my ds was born with clubfeet and I have my 20 wk scan next week too! Actually though we never found out at the scan with ds, was a total surprise at birth. Like you say, in a strange way, clubfeet are the least of my worries about this scan- we know we can cope with that

shubiedoo · 16/09/2008 16:35

Wow, really! It's very common. Ds2 doesn't really wear his brace in public anymore, he's nearly 2, but when people used to see it, I would be amazed how many told me they knew someone with one, or had worn something like it as a a child.
Where do you live? We're in Canada.

mslucy · 16/09/2008 16:38

Tink, I'm OBSESSED with curry at the moment.
Will be making myself one tonight (mmm coriander, ginger, garlic, chilli...) and then no doubt getting one from the takeaway at the end of the road later in the week.

I think I craved them with ds as well - maybe it's just because they're delicious and not that healthy and being pg gives you permission to enjoy them without feeling guilty.

Shubie - had 20 week scan last week (at 19 weeks).

Was v.nervous after dodgy nuchal at 12 weeks but everything looked ok and if you check out my facebook page you will see rather a lovely clear image.

I'm sure it will be fine.

jenniferturkington · 16/09/2008 16:40

We are in brighton, uk. Does your DS wear boots & bar as in Ponsetti method? Does he resist yet? My ds is 15 months, wears brace at nights only, and doesn't mind yet!

thehouseofmirth · 16/09/2008 16:43

OAU it sounds like you had a really bad time last time and I can understand why you wouldn't want to risk that again. I was very lucky that even in a big London teaching hospital I had 2 midwives with me constantly for my entire labour and when things went a bit wrong they pulled out all the stops. I'm a huge fan of the NHS but I am shocked that there's such a lottery surrounding the care that mothers get in what is supposed to be a national service.

BTW just in case you ever find yourself in need of some, LSD comes in tablets, usually!

TinkerBellesMum · 16/09/2008 16:44

My brother and I were both born with a club foot. We don't have any problems now - our sister does though! She's flat footed and has terrible back and leg problems from it and she was the only one who was OK at birth.

Curries aren't that bad really, if they're cooked properly, Indians are some of the healthiest people. They're good for keeping the system cleared out. I've recently found a place that is delicious! They don't overdo the spice which seems quite popular now so you get all the amazing flavours coming through. Did you see my post about my pregnant daughter in the FB group?

shubiedoo · 16/09/2008 16:44

Yes, he had Ponseti casts and now wears the Mitchell brace. It's great, he's never resisted putting it on. His feet look great and he's walking everywhere now, and will be running just in time for the newborn's arrival I'm sure!
Thanks mslucy for your good wishes. My early scan was fine which is reassuring, but the anatomical one tells a lot more of course.

onwardandupward · 16/09/2008 16:50

Thanks houseofmirth

And now I'm trying to imagine under what circumstances I would be likely to need some LSD in my current or future life [scratches head ]

I think I was really really lucky with mind-altering drugs, in a backwards way. When I was about 10, a 17-year-old girl I knew (who was living with my family at the time) had flashbacks to a bad LSD trip. I vividly remember her curled up in a chair and shaking, and remember thinking even at the time "no way am I ever putting myself at risk of that". Didn't need Grange Hill to tell me to just say no ;-b

shubiedoo · 16/09/2008 16:55

Well, I should get off the computer and do some tidying before the school run... sigh.
I will keep an eye out for your posts jennifer!

jenniferturkington · 16/09/2008 16:57

Shubie, it's amazing treatment isn't it? DS's feet are beautiful, he is running about constantly, and nobody would ever know from looking at him now Goodluck next week!

mmm curry

Look, can we just stop stalking about curry please? I've got pizza for dinner and now all I can think about is chicken dopiaza and prawn puree!

mslucy · 16/09/2008 19:28

just eating the most delicious curry, cooked to perfection by yours truly.

chicken thighs (cheaper and tastier than breast)
fresh ginger (lots)
garlic (lots)
fresh coriander (lots)
jalfrezi paste
onion
fresh tomato + passata (tomato gloop stuff)
mushrooms
green beans

no extra fat apart from a bit of oil.

just cook until meat coming off bone.
eat with a couple of chapatis.

Awesome.

Thank you for your reply Swampster I hope so but I doubt it, something really sh**ty happened at work today which landed me in tears for best part of an hour and fighting them off the rest of the day, and on the way home on the bus... and well it keeps popping in my head and then I go off again.
Really cant face tomorrow, a couple of friends think i should get signed off work with stress but I feel fake and stuff.

chilledmama · 16/09/2008 21:23
