dizzydixies · 05/09/2008 12:16

cyteen time with my Dad is NEVER peaceful or healing which is why I live as far away as I do, since age of 17. don't get my wrong, love my parents, we just have very different opinions on the world. plus my dad couldn't tell a straight story if his life depended on it drives me insane I've togo through to helpclear mums stuff so ir will be fraught without my hormones reducing my already impared ability of keeping a civil tongue in my head!

thanks for vote of confidence on hairdo but won't be repeating it. only meant to remove fuzzy bits and got carried away lol

oops- thats great news on the gold top grade boobs and the sibling!!!

miamla - stop encouraging me!!!!!

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 12:28

Ataraxis - I am sadly goingto have to leave you to be karmic on your own. I just can't do it. i can't pretend I'm not pissed off and fed up and sick of being fucking pregnant.
A whole night of crampy pain, and I got through it by thinking 'at least something's happening' was it fuck. MW just did sweep and cervix jammed tight shut. Which also means the sweep probably won't work. So that was just a night of being bloody uncomfortable, not a night of making progress toward getting this bastard thing out.
And worse, I just feel no affection towards it now, I don't care what they do with it when they get it out, as long as they get it out! And I jus tcan't stop crying now.

oopsacoconut · 05/09/2008 12:50

annvan just let it out girl - yell, shout, swear, cry. then have a long hot bath and one of these [imaginary g&t]

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 13:00

Oh AnnVan sweetie, I am sorry to hear that. Completely understandable to feel resentful, particularly if you are someone who is normally in control of their own life.
Wish I was closer to you so you would have someone visible to shout at.
The cramping etc is very very frustrating (I have had 5 weeks of it on and off) and think i have just got to a 'yeah right' stage whenever I get anything now, so my own expectations are off which makes it easier.
I totally agree with Oops - except have a real one (G&T) if you need it!

Buckets · 05/09/2008 13:07

To all those unpopped, saw a friend who was due on 18th yesterday and she has still not popped! They will let her go to 21 days but she has to go in for daily monitoring. Bless her she is so desperate for a homebirth, despite being on crutches for SPD, that she has gone over the school year which she really didn't want to do! She has a 5yr old and a 2yr old to look after too.

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 13:14

LOL at 'unpopped' Buckets! Oops - you may have done so before, but would you tell your induction story? Honestly, you are the first person I have heard of who has had an induction and didn't have hours and hours of labour at some point afterwards.

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 13:17

Oh, and AnnVan - I say chilled out, but every time I come back from a MW appt to find I am not 5cm (), I have been in tears. To the point that DH said to me 'just don't go to the MW if they always upset you so much'. The period of time after hearing you are not immediately going to give birth is really really hard. Maybe he has a point

cyteen · 05/09/2008 13:30

AnnVan you have every right to be pissed off and frustrated, this pregnancy has been such a killer for you. Just go with it - scream and shout and cry, do whatever.

dizzy I totally know what you mean about loving your parents but needing distance. My dad is great but he does my swede in in all kinds of ways. Things have improved between us since my brother died, which was unexpected but welcome, so perhaps it will be easier for you. Not that this visit is going to be easy anyway though; is anyone else going to be there to help with the clearing?

Ladies, I just have to share this piece of TMI: today I have successfully pooed Was absolutely terrified about the post-birth poo due to stitches/Satan's own arsegrapes, but the invaluable advice on this thread re. how to deal with both was a lifesaver. Not only that, but I'm wearing actual clothes instead of pyjamas and have done a load of laundry...I think I might be on the mend.

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 13:40

Sorry everyone. I don't think I've ever elt that low Thanks for understanding. Induction is booked for saturday 13th.
You've been waiting longer than I have ataraxis. I've also been really bad and had some toast with a bit of duck liver pate on it. I know I'm not supposed to but... We also have some profiteroles in the fridge, so I'll probably eat those too. I'll be good and not tuck into the roquefort and sauternes though. Or the goat's cheese.

Dizzy - I can totally sympathise with you on the parents front. I too need my distance from them to maintain any sort of relationship. Any length of time in close proximity to them, and the sparks just fly! My mum keeps trying to get me to move up to Scotland to be nearer to them. I love Scotland, but I can't bear the thought of living near my parents.

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 13:46

AnnVan - I am exactly the same - opened the pate last night, but have the stilton in the fridge, looking at it going... ok can't be long now, best just leave it alone... go for it with the profiteroles and look at this as a last chance to eat whatever you like without guilt!

cyteen - very impressed.

Re laundry - with 2 small children already (and using real nappies) I have to confess to having a tumble drier . Doesn't resolve all of it, but would be interested to know which would win in a tumble drier vs LPG fight iro environmental impact, monetary cost etc

dizzy - lol at hair cutting with nail scissors. Gave that up a long time ago. Now they both go to the hairdresser - the money is well worth it!

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 13:56

What nappies do you use Ataraxis? I have my cloth nappies ready and waiting, even prewashed already.

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 14:10

Green baby shaped nappies, Motherease wraps and definitely definitely disposable liners (not going to paint a picture of what happens to the inside of the washing machine otherwise).

Also, disposables for first few days and when away for a few days. If you visit anywhere with a septic tank rather than mains sewage, make sure you throw the liners away rather than flushing them - thus speaks the voice of experience as DH had to help my mum unblock her septic tank full of our nappy liners with DS1 .

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 14:18

Thanks for the tip. I've already bought the disposables to use for the first few days. Don't fancy luggin a nappy bucket to hospital and then having to wash nappies first thing when I get home. Not to mention getting meconium off cloth.

poppysocks · 05/09/2008 14:37

I have 2 x DDs asleep! First time all week during the day. Enjoying cuppa and some lovely chocs.

So sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish annvan. Not surprised. Can't believe how well you've done at retaining sanity in the face of sleep deprivation and now the baby not shifting. Hope you won't make your 13th induction. Good luck to you too ataraxis.

Well, that was too good to be true. DD2 now stirring... Byeee. Oh and there goes DD1...

waytoomuchchocolate · 05/09/2008 15:25

hello all

just a very quick msg to let you know that Samuel Joel arrived on 3rd Sept at 6.52am, 8lb 4oz.

have entered the mind boggling world of no sleep for multiple days but he's worth it all

good luck annvan and ataraxis, sorry to hear you're still both waiting.

XX

Buckets · 05/09/2008 15:57

Hey that's great news WTMC, congrats. Have a bar of Maya Gold from me, it's good for what ails yer.

My Moby wrap arrived today and it's great. An hour in that is way more comfy than half an hour in the ringsling so it is definitely my schoolrun sling. Maya ringsling is handier for popping Kurt in and out so still useful for short bursts and when using the car. We are now a two sling family.

Yowzer! That flippin letdown reflex still hurts like a bra full of holly leaves and at totally random, mystifying times.

gigglegirl · 05/09/2008 16:12

gave up on housework as Imogen wouldn't be put down - went to friends house - put the world to rights, got home have now got DD1 and friend dancing like lunatics to High School Musical amongst others and am about to try and make steak and kidney pie for tea before Imogen awakens again and friend is picked up as will involve long chat with her mother!
miamla I went back to work pregnant - nothing they can do - plus you don't have to tell them straight away - I didn't!dizzy you are so me! I have had those oh five kids wouldn't be too bad thoughts as well - but it is the thought of being pregnant again that stops me - must sort out Contrception just not sure what to choose! hate all of it really. I also know exactly what you mean about jsut knowing them - I have had several moments like that with Imogen (has to be said they aren't usually at 3am though!) and I have also had disatrous haircuts on my boys, managed DD1 ok but she has poker straight hair - oh and remoind me to tell you later about DH, clippers me and half a bottle of chardonnay!

Right off to be a domestic goddess!

miamla · 05/09/2008 16:27

guess who's smiling!!! Theo has got the cutest smile in the world! He does it on demand as well, I just have to go "oooh, aaah" for a little while and he smiles back at me!

sorry to hear that you haven't popped yet ataraxis and annvan.

buckets i'm with you on the holly leaves!

giggle cool.. watch this space!

dizzy me? encourage you? i wouldn't know how to if i tried!

congats toomuchchoc

ooh, got to go...someone's doing more crying than smiling at the moment!

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 17:00

Hey all, I'm in a slightly better frame of mind now. ALthough had a horrible relux moment. Lay down to try and get some rest when up came yucky liquid and into lungs cue lots of coughing and hacking to get the stuff up. Really disgusting, and now my throat hurts. Sorry if TMI

Oh congrats to WTMC!!

miamla · 05/09/2008 17:36

to anyone who hasn't got a wrap or sling yet, i can't recommend getting one enough. T hates being on his own and loves cuddles so when he's awake I put him in my wrap (aka a strip of fabric i cut up!) and get on with the various jobs i need to do. Only problem is that he falls asleep in it but hey, it means i've got two hands and a happy baby!

i've just posted a few pics on my profile of DS

Buckets · 05/09/2008 18:34

Yeah I'm dreading DH seeing that I paid £25 for 4yards of cotton!

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 20:45

Hi AnnVan, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.

Congratulations waytoomuchchocolate (hmm, your name is how i feel this pm...) fantastic news.

Anyone heard from Sambo303 recently?

ataraxis · 05/09/2008 20:46

buckets - you can always turn it into a sari/sarong when you are finished

TwilightSurfer · 05/09/2008 21:04

Second the GET A WRAP/SLING!!! My Moby has been a life-saver. And Reese will never know I licked salad bits off the back of her neck today..... Really there's no perfect world with a newborn except one that allows you to carry them HANDS-FREE!!!!

Reese is pooing for all today. She's been crying for two days during poos so I vasolined her up this morning. Now she toots all the time and since 7am has had five dirty diapers. Seems she might have been a little constipated. How's a mom to know???

She has also been quite a bit more lively today. She even sat up...holding her own head up in my Moby, looking around as if studying the world. Hard to believe she's just 2.5 weeks old as she seems 2 months old.

Dizzy I've been having those "I Know You" moments with Reese. She's so different from DD1. Reese will look into my eyes as if she's saying, "hey chica, just hanging out here contemplating some meditation. care to join?" She's such the laid back girl!!!!

WTMC congrats!!!

Sazzles have a wonderful trip.

Ann, honey I've been in your shoes! Can you find someone (MW or other) to work with you on fetal positioning?? Relex is great but having the baby's head lined up and pressing on your cervix properly helps big time. I read (after the fact) that that's the main cause of slow labours and labours that start the stop a dozen times....like mine. It's worth a looksee.

Hand-cramp.......
