albs - congratulations on Henry - that's brilliant news.

CC - , hope this evening goes ok and that you get a chance to rest.

cyteen (wherever you are) - everything crossed for you that you are by now holding LO in your arms.

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 18:44

Ataraxis - thanks forthe mantra. I am trying to remain karmic. Not sure why I suddenly came over all grumpified this afternoon. I think it's because I had to spend the majority of the day waiting for the mothercare delivery, so couldn't get out, or do anything to take my mind off things.

Ellasmum - Congratulations!

Congratulations Ellasmum1!!!!

We are still evens-stevens with the baby gender counts. HOW ODD!! Don't you all agree.

Nice weights still. We are a healthy lot, aren't we.

I don't have much to contribute to the BF chatter so I'm laying low. Just trying to be as still as possible as tomorrow starts our whirlwind week....DD1 will have to be at school by 9am everyday!!!! Hopefully I'll be ready to rock and roll with everyone's schedule. DH admitted Reese's every-two-hour-feeds was EXHAUSTING last night. I asked him if he wanted to continue doing them and he just looked at me like ......

sazzles lol at 'mad as a box of frogs'
I've heard 'mad as a barrel of skunks' but that one's new by me.
As for MIL's name spelling - who knows?? even my ILs manage to spell MY name which is a lot harder to get right than Lucie.

ataraxis · 01/09/2008 19:24

Or 'mad as a pack of badgers'?

But agree, Lucie is not that hard . Do you think they will manage Emma? [grin}

ataraxis · 01/09/2008 19:26

And congratulations Ellasmum - sorry for missing you before - good effort on the weight front!

ataraxis · 01/09/2008 19:27

or is that 'sack of badgers'? think it might be...

HazieDazieandBaby · 01/09/2008 19:31

Hi girls! Congratulations to all who have popped recently! I'm sending eviction notice vibes on those still waiting. I was going to try and catch up with all the posts, but to be honest, I think that'd be impossible so I'll just start afresh today!

Thanks for relaying the birth announcement details dizzy. DH did well on making his way through my contact list!

SazzlesA, has no-one told you that MILs are programmed to annoy you? It's actually in the small print when you sign the register on the day of your wedding!

Here's my shortened birth story. Gaby was born after 17hrs in labour, which wasn't as bad as I expected. I used my Tens machine from the start (from about 21.45 on the 22nd Aug) and found it helped quite well. I called the hospital a couple of times as the pain was increasing and they eventually agreed to me coming in, but they warned I'd probably get sent home again. I got there at 7am and they said they'd do an internal exam, but that didn't happen until 10.30am (they were mega busy), by which time they found I was 10cm dilated!!! The midwife was shocked and said that she hadn't checked me before that as she was sure that I wasn't as far on as that because of the way that my contractions were coming! I'm not really sure what happened in between (due to gas and air!), but Gaby was born at 15.04 by forceps delivery. We were in hopsital until Weds last week to try and get BF sorted, but still not sure that we have to be honest

I totally love Gaby to bits, but everyone with their 'advice' makes me doubt myself, meaning that I've spent more time in tears than I have enjoying my baby. She keeps chewing on her fist and sticking her tongue out, even if she's just been fed, so I keep getting 'oh look she's hungry' from everyone. She was alo crying a lot the other night and my mum said, 'she must have colic'. I just feel like I'm failing her if I don't know exactly what's wrong with her, but there might not even be anything wrong anyway.

Sorry for the whingey post. It started off quite well!

hazie lots of hugs! And babies chew their fists whether they're hungry or not!!! I hate the "(s)he's hungry" comments!

VintageGardenia · 01/09/2008 20:11

I hate "he's hungry" and I hate "he can't STILL be hungry" and I hate "he's not hungry again is he?" and I hate "but surely he's not hungry"...

grrrrrrrrr

Hazie well done!! And just ditto to everything Sazzles said. You and Gaby will work it all out together

Sazzles - my hunch is that your MIL can spell Lucie all right, she just chooses not to!

Yay for the albs fuelled Henry! Well done albs.

Buckets · 01/09/2008 20:51

Well done Hazie, 4.5hrs fully dilated! Were you pushing all that time, you poor thing?

OMG just realised I haven't cried since last Saturday (when me & Kurt had to stay at my mum's to calm me down.) Mind you he's been awake since 4.30 if the glare of the laptop doesn't get him to shut his eyes and sleep there will be tears very soon...

Huh? Who's Arnold Clark?

poppysocks · 01/09/2008 21:18

Congratulations ellasmum! Does this call for a name-change?

Great to see you again hazie. Sorry you're having trouble with the bf. I know how it feels as I had a tough time last time and felt terrible pressure about it all. No words of wisdom but lots and lots of empathy. Not sure it that helps at all....

at your oven dizzy. Why does these things always happen at times like this? I'm just waiting for the washing machine to give up the ghost...

Well, I survived DH's first day back at work and actually, rather enjoyed it. Turned out to be stupidly busy as bumped into a friend who's just moved back from Oz. We got caught in the rain (where did that come from Dizzy?? Did NOT see that one coming and still have very damp shoes...) so ended up sheltering here for hours. Then other friends came over to coo over DD2, then Tesco delivery and before I knew it we were at DD1's favourite part of the day (and mine - CBeebies bedtime hour). Now rewarding myself with glass of red and a packet of rolos.

Looking forward to hearing from you cyteen. Hope all's going well. And good luck to those left in the waiting room. Hoping you won't make 10/09/08!

dizzydixies · 01/09/2008 21:26

buckest sorry, arnold clark is huge chain of car showrooms, money grabbing sods!!

sazz we got a ford galaxy, all very buslike & sensible, at least its black so I can pretend I'm in the a team

poppy - we were same, washing out & working in garden turned into wacky races & good old soaking - glad you're getting on fine

cc hope you got my text and you'rr doing ok

hazie ignore everyone, chuck them all out & go to bed with gaby for a week to sort yourself out

cyteen hope you're ok xx

poppysocks · 01/09/2008 21:36

Just read through thread properly...

CC - So sorry you're feeling so rough. Really hope you get a good rest and feel better soon. No experience of mastitis myself, but know from my Mum and Stepmum how horrid it is.

ALBS - Great news on Henry's weight gain. Makes it all worthwhile .

Dizzy - I'm not blimin' suprised you're still feeling about your Mum. There's no still about it, it's been so little time. Won't attempt to say anything comforting or meaningful as I can't imagine how you're feeling and anyway VG said it so beautifully. I do however, look forward to meeting up soon and buying you a large slice of cake!

Oh and congratulations cheerfulvicky. What a great name for your wee man! Aren't we doing well!

dizzydixies · 01/09/2008 21:39

thanks poppy

where's buckets gone till I brag about having sex today - sorry if tmi, but afterwards I though 'won't buckets be proud?!?'
