Annvan - LOL at your post on the 'today I will' thread - I was thinking exactly the same thing . Thought you (and I) were being karmic?

CaptainCaveman · 01/09/2008 09:40

congrats oops and cheerfulvicky on the safe arrival of your little ones - such beautiful names too - continuing the thread theme of marvellous names

cyteen I too hope you are now holding your little 'squid boy', or that his arrival is imminent

annvan & ataraxis there are only a few days left of your pregnancies so I'm praying your little ones arrive very soon and don't keep you waiting too long.

Hope all the post-natal ladies are doing ok in their respective parts of the world?

Sorry I've been quiet on my mn-ing front(although perhaps you are glad? ), life just seems to whoosh on by at the moment. Oliver is a month old today - now how did that happen? I only had him 5 mins ago

I am starting to resemble an 80s throwback with my untamed hair. Currently sporting a LARGE unplanned flick-effect, due to hair appt being cancelled when O arrived earlier than planned. I. need. help. Going to attempt trip to hairdressers this Thursday.....

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 09:53

Good morning everyone!
Good to see you're still with me Ataraxis!
I am still being stoical. Actually feeling ok today. Got a little grumpy last night because I was havaing random back pains etc, with no way of knowing if they're warm-up signs or anytihng. I don't want my silly body to tease me, just when it's time get on with it. I think I'm being silly, especially when I consider what TS went through
Awkward thing is DP's travel card expires today. What should he do tomorrow? Buy a weekly one, or start buying a ticket each day, bearing in mind that puts his travel at £22/day The weekly card is£68. hmm

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 09:53

Oh and Hi CC good to see you - have missed seeing you about the thread

VintageGardenia · 01/09/2008 10:05

Morning all, back to school for us today, quel shock! Ouf.

CC good to see you again, my hair is VAST at the moment despite having had it cut a couple of weeks before birth - six weeks ago. I have a frizzy mop curls and younger DS was actually staring at them this morning and I swear he was laughing at them! I need a shearing . Happy month birthday Oliver!

cyteen poor you still waiting ... come on out baby and give your mum a break!

ataraxis and AnnVan come on September babies! Re. travel card that's tricky. 22 quid a day is a lot! I suppose get a weekly??? In 3 days it will have paid for itself?? Ask Sazzles she's our nimble numberqueen. You are 2 days over but I suppose realistically (sorry!) you could be another week without it being too , given that it's your first baby.

VintageGardenia · 01/09/2008 10:06

Oh Ann I didn't mean that to sound heartless. I know you want your baby now and I hope it happens soon. xxx

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 10:18

VG no problem at all, it's what I've been thinking anyway! It's the not knowing that makes it hard. I htink I will say to DP to get a weekly. There's really no sign of anything happening any time soon.

VintageGardenia · 01/09/2008 10:24

Well do you know what you should do, go to the cinema, go get your hair done, get a pedicure (don't snort at me!), spend an hour in a flotation tank, do all the things you won't be able to do again for a bit (well you'll be able to do them but not simply). And book theatre tickets or something, the baby will definitely come then preventing you from going! Invoke sod's law.

It's blardy boring and frustrating at the final furlong. Worse when others have rushed ahead. But your baby IS coming!

Hmm, I can't go anywhere today as I have a delivery arriving. The Mothercare saga continues.
When I went that evening to cancel the order, the status had been changed to dispatched, so now I couldn't cancel. Then I saw that the delivery estimate was STILL 5-9 September, and the email said deliver within 3-5 days of shipping. Went to mw appointment on Friday, came home to note from UPS saying they tried to deliver and will try again today - no timescale given so I'll just have to sit around waiting! Sod's law.

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 10:45

Ah well, I shall continue reading Pride and Prejudice. After baby arrives, I probably won't have much time or energy to be a bookworm any more.

miamla · 01/09/2008 10:54

just a quickie..ann, i've done more reading in the last few weeks (whilst bf) than i have since i was commuting

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 11:23

Yay! Thanks MIamla!

CaptainCaveman · 01/09/2008 11:40

Hi Sazzles gotta go, Mr Squeaky is squeaking to be plugged in!!

sambo303 · 01/09/2008 11:57

Ann - at my 40 wk appt with MW she said baby is FREE - I thought, cripes dont want to be induced.
So, i went swimming 2 days in a row - 30 mins breast stroke (slowly!) and i pushed down on the bump after every length. Since then, I'm certain the head has moved down, lots of period type pains and everyone says the bump has definitely gone south.

I feel this is progress, and am much relieved.

miamla can i just ask about the practicalities on how to read + breastfeed as I was hoping to do this.. was thinking of some kind of book stand (like for a recipe book)??

ps congrats to all new arrivals and their mums - I note we have a Felix in the group, I'm also planning this name if i have a boy - it's lovely

sambo303 · 01/09/2008 12:06

just received an email from a work colleague asking if I've "dropped" yet - I'm so repulsed by that expression that I am finding it hard to reply to her

What's wrong with asking if I've "had" my baby yet?

TwilightSurfer · 01/09/2008 12:12

Good Morning. DH took Reese last night so I slept from 10PM until 6:30AM. HOLY CRAP!!! I don't even think I moved and I truly have no idea when I last slept for that many hours in a row.

Captain, I didn't realize we gave birth two weeks apart. It seemed like months. However, Reese is exactly two weeks old today. WOW TWO WEEKS OLD!!! I've obviously been living in a haze because I've no idea what I've been doing for the past two weeks.

OH.....I think I might have been in pain for part of it.....

VG my hair too resembles a crazy mess. Captain I gave up on the color issue mid pregnancy. I'd like to go get something done but I am waiting until I can properly SIT in the hair dresser's chair.

Still having issues with pain on my left side. It radiates out into my left hip bone after I've been up walking for a while. My guess is my CS cut is a little too close to hip tendons (or whatever you call them). I haven't the first problem with my right side. Guess that just means longer time to heal. Being still last night for HOURS helped.

I think more babies should be arriving shortly. They do come when you least expect them.

PetitFilou1 · 01/09/2008 13:02

Hi all
Struggling to catch up - I'm at home ON MY OWN (yay) with Toby while dd is at nursery and ds1 out with mil and dh. Feeling very tired and weedy - for some reason I thought I'd just have the the baby and get on with life but clearly that isn't going to happen. Atm he is tucked in my trusty old Wilkinet sling as he is yet another filou 'I will not be put down' baby (sigh)I made a big mistake buying the wrap sling - far too much fabric and far too unwieldy for me - I think it will be going onto ebay.

I have hardly lifted a finger so far - dh gets a flipping platinum star from me, never mind a gold one and my mil has been brilliant too. Toby has bf cracked (I just seem to be lucky there) but is very very windy - no tips poppysocks but I sympathise. My milk has come in pretty quickly this time so he is more settled now. I was going to try for a walk today but may just lie down instead!

Mixed reactions from the dcs so far. ds1 started by saying 'I know Toby needs you but I need you more ' but now seems to be chilling out about the whole thing. dd is being a madam and playing up - but I expected that. I know they will settle down eventually...

cyteen Very pleased to hear things have started for you - maybe you've even delivered by now.

dizzy Have you given Toby's head a sniff yet?

annvan I know just how you feel, it is hard being at the end of list - SUCH a relief when they finally come out.

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 13:05

I had my mum waling on about how unpleasant induction is the other day. Rather annoyed me because I'd rather not stress about it tbh. Thankully today she hasn't done that! I think I would have hung up if she had.
My sister is due day ater tomorrow. Which of us will pop first do you think??

Buckets · 01/09/2008 13:18

Oh don't give up on the wrap yet PF I've just ordered one! I think the main benefit is you can wear it all day (eg in the car)and just pop the baby in and out. If it wasn't for the leaky boobs necessitating bras, it would make quite a nice top on its own.

Dizzy Hugs to you, don't forget you've had to push the grief aside to get on with the baby business. You obviously have a practical brain that only lets you deal with emotional stuff once you're physically able to. Let it flow!

I had a fairly good night with Kurt, it's very sweet when he dozes off with his arm across this giant boob, trying to cuddle it or keep it there for later.

sarahnh · 01/09/2008 13:22

Hey everyone,

Firstly congrats to those that have had their babies since i was on beautiful names..

Massive labour vibes to all those still waiting [hugs]...

i feel like i haven't been on in ages.. tess had really bad wind on friday and cried non stop from 1pm til 9pm.. man i was crawling the ceiling... am now administring infacol before every feed and its like i have a different baby!!!

DD1 is also being a nightmare at the moment, she has had a low grade fever the last few days coupled with severe jealously issues so is being very whiney and clingly!!!

DH has been alot better since i was last on which has been fantastic but is not back at work and sleeping in the spare room.. very envious of your massive sleep ts!!!!

finished my anti biotics for womb infection but still having some pains.. not sure if its all gone but really hoping its just my body settling down...

so sorry for the me me me post, i have read the thread the whole way through but mummy brain is preventing me from remembering much...

so in return my i present a massive baskets of muffins and treats for you all to dig in. xxxx

cheerfulvicky · 01/09/2008 13:29

Yay, nice to see I moved from the waiting room, I thought I'd never give birth. If they hadn't induced me for pre eclampsia I would have been induced a few days later and knew that but honestly... it felt like I would be pregnant forever

Maternity support worker called today and scowled at me when I said I had been giving him top ups. Said now would be a good time to BF exclusively as my milk is about to come in and I don't want to compromise supply. Actually I agree with her but it did make me smile the way she instantly went all stony faced when she heard the word 'bottle'. Hehe. Felix had a tongue tie that was snipped as we left hospital, so much better than it was but feeding is still sore simply because I have uber sensitive nipples and he sucks hard and doesn't always latch well. Ladies, I want to breastfeed but tell me I can do this? I'm worried about the cluster feeding I've heard mentioned, it sounds legendary. Really hope me and the little man can crack bf...

Will upload photos soon hopefully because he's so gorgeous I can't help myself. Nobody told me how soft their skin is or how good they smell... (PFB gooey grin)

cyteen, good luck, it sound like things are moving, yay!

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 13:49

vicky I too feel like I will be pregnant forever. Just feels like nothing is happening, and isn't going to. Hmmm.
I will be patient. I will. Just wish the delivery guy would turn up already. I can't do anything else because I have to keep an eye out for him. The doorbell doesn't work, and for some reason it never occurs to delivery guys to KNOCK.

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 15:07

Really wish this sodding delivery would arrive now! Bored of waiting.

ataraxis · 01/09/2008 15:27

Oh annvan, you're not having much luck with on time deliveries are you . Hope they both come soon.
