right then, who's got a new baby for me to sniff - what have I missed?!?

dizzydixies · 31/08/2008 22:13

oops thats just lovely, welcome little Poppy - am a wee bit teary now!

good luck cyteen hope things are going well, I know its raining but get going up and down the stairs sideways instead to open up that pelvis (am now frantically trying to remember if cyteen lives in a bungalow!!)

all ok here, horrible drizzly weather so after attempting a walk to park came home sticky wet and stayed in rest of day

girls in bed, Dylan asleep on dh and I'm scouting hotels/accomodation for our trip to NY in May

dh and I had to rebook the flights from Valentines (remember we weren't allowed to go as I was bleeding?) before tomorrow so we've picked my birthday weekend and booked them - haven't cost anything, just a change of flight, now we just need to be able to afford a hotel/ spending money and some willing babysitters

I can live in hope can't I?!?

cheerfulvicky · 31/08/2008 22:14

I have a new baby, dizzy

Felix Leo was born on the 29th August at 5.06am, weighing in at a weeny 5lb 9oz! They had no idea he would be so small - ended up with pre eclampsia and induced, medicalised labour, quite traumatic for the poor wee man but we are both doing fine now thank goodness.
Finally got home from hospital last night! Had been in since tuesday due to P.E etc. Birth story to follow... Bit knackered right now.
Hope you are all doing well!

(goes to catch up on thread)

dizzydixies · 31/08/2008 22:19

oh well done vicky what a darling wee dote with a FAB name what a fright though, am glad you're both home safe and well and doing fine - shall leave TS to do the honours when Reese gives her a moment

god I LOVE all the names on here!

brilliant brilliant, well done everyone

miamla · 31/08/2008 22:34

ooh some more babies have arrived? congratulations to you all!

dizz you should be proud of the names..you helped most of us decide!

pil gone home and they will not be visiting again for a while or until DP forgets how hard it has been!

oh, and my baked cheesecake went down a treat

miamla · 31/08/2008 22:41

T just finished feeding so going to try and get some sleep. laptop upstairs with me though so i'll be back in early hours
until then, adieu

dizzydixies · 31/08/2008 22:47

miamla am very VERY proud of your pil restraint and very impressed at your cheesecake baking - I havent' baked in ages but did make tea tonight instead of just heating something up so maybe I'm getting back on track

good idea about the laptop going upstairs although our sodding walls are so thick in here the wifi isn't great room to room

at the thought of me helping with names - I just spouted out loads of options!!

have already told dh what name I like for potential next dc - which would no doubt be a girl again - and he has threatened to leave me

VintageGardenia · 31/08/2008 23:09

oopsapoppy hooray! Well done you! having to wait for spare pair of mw hands. Not that easy to hang on for 40 mins, eh? Clever girl getting feeding off to such a good start.

vicky bet you're feeling cheerful now . We have a Leo in our family and I'd thought of Felix for elder DS! So much approval of names. Hope you are feeling all right after everything you've been through, didn't realise re. pre-eclampsia, you poor sausage.

cyteeeeeeeeeeen wassap?????? Show us the baby!!!

dizzy wotcher missus. Glad you are getting your trip in. Few pages back (sorry, am v behind) you were a bit blue, you feeling little better? Sometimes you have to sit back and just let it crawl all over you before you can get out the other side, don't you? xxx and hugs to you. Don't know what you believe in etc but hey, maybe mammydixies is looking after you all now. She must have been an incredible mother because she's obviously passed her gift on to you, and I don't just mean you mothering your DDs, but all the thread mothering you've done. (Oh CHRIST might cry myself!!!)

sazz and no1 respeck! I am still at stage of calling out to elder DS e.g. "Any chance you could make a shepherd's pie and ring the bank and put petrol in the car?" while he confusedly asks me if I know where his toothbrush is. Have failed abjectly to be proper mother to 2.

miamla that cheesecake was wasted on the pil have you still got preggers brain, eh? Baking is for US not THEM! Pah!

dizzydixies · 31/08/2008 23:22

oh lordy VG don't start or I'll be off again!
I have to admit, as am frightened not to incase it all manifests hugely later on, that I'm not doing great. Don't get me wrong, am not bawling, weeping and wailing or anything, am just a bit low about it. She's only been gone 5wks and I feel as if I have to pull myself up, get over it and get on with it all, I haven't had a chance to just crawl into bed and mope for a day

I think its because dh is going back to work on Thurs and I'm worried about how its going to go. I went to bed very early last night and had a wee cry - poor dh thought he was on a promise when I mentioned an early night

dd1 keeps asking questions and I'm pleased that she's asking rather than not and dd2 keeps going on about going to granny's house and bringing me the phone to put in Granny's number so she can call her and speak to her - she's too young to be told anything

I had a friend up on Sat and she's very newly pregnant and all excited but she suffers from depression so you have to be very careful what you say to her, ALL the time, which is normally ok but I don't have the reserve for at the moment anyway, she was whining on about having to spend christmas at her pil this year and how much she would miss her mother and how she'd never been without her over christmas etc etc i know it was just done without thinking and definately without malice but sometimes I just wish she could be a bit more tip toey about me sometimes - if that makes sense

anyway, am whinging on like a right whigey thing (is that even a word?!) when I should be asking how lovely Edward is and when are we going to see a photo?!?

thank you for asking though you'll be doing well if you've managed to get this far

VintageGardenia · 31/08/2008 23:42

dizzy you know I don't really do pictures but there's one on my profile for you xx.

VintageGardenia · 31/08/2008 23:52

dizzy five weeks is nothing. I lost my father five years ago and I can tell you it was a good year before it sank in, and another year until I began to be ok with it. I'm not telling you that to make you think Oh Christ two years how will I get through it, but to make you think Oh Christ five weeks that's nothing, and give yourself a break. Losing a parent is the most dreadful shock to the system at any age, I think it feels very unnatural, and propels you into a stage of your own life that you're not necessarily ready for. I had my own family, my own life, career, etc, and had spent forever trying to break free of family bonds in a way. Yet when my father died I was pretty much on my knees sobbing I want my Daddy, Daddy come back to me (I mean that quite literally). No matter how grown up I was, fundamentally I still viewed myself as a daughter in many ways, and that was snatched from me. I remember bawling to DS's father, saying I'm not ready, I'm not ready, and he said to me very tenderly, no, but you must bear in mind that he probably was. Of course that induced more sobbing, but he was right - my father had been ill, and it was his time to go. It was the right time for him, which had to, ultimately, make it the right time for me.

Oh - ramble.

Look - it's there, and you can't pretend you've dealt with it just because that would be more convenient for your other, mother/wife/friend roles. In your daughter role, you have to grieve for the mother you've lost. You have to allow yourself to do that. And grieving is NOT the same as whinging.

It's great that your dds are talking about her. I think you should let them and encourage them, because it may help them to clarify or solidify memories they can draw on later. You'll be so glad they remember even one or two things about her.

cyteen · 31/08/2008 23:59

Lovely to hear from oops and vicky, great work ladies and yes, we definitely have the best names on this thread

Huge massive hugs to dizzy and VG - you are wonderful, warm and wise people.

Just a quick update from me, copied and pasted from another thread (excuse laziness, am typing between contractions):

Went out for a walk earlier with DP, then went to bed for a bit as was feeling knackered...had a little sleep, woken up by stronger contractions. Have been dossing about in bed reading the papers and whatnot, and am DEFINITELY feeling much stronger/closer contractions now - god bless the TENS machine is all I can say Have been noting them down and although they are more regular, they're still not in enough of a pattern for the birth centre who have advised me to hang on for a while longer and see what happens. Still, they're coming at 3-10 minute intervals and lasting from 35 secs to 1min20, some quite bearable, others in the 'stop what you're doing and breathe' bracket. So I guess I'm making progress

Baby has been moving around and I feel okay in myself, just a bit tired. I do hope things kick off properly before tomorrow morning, but we'll see - am prepared to do whatever it takes to get this wee one out.

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 00:52

Cyteen - good luck, sounds like things are finally kicking off for you!

Oops, Dizzy and VG good to see you again ladies!

Dizzy - I won't try and give advice, I think what VG said is very wise, and I certainly can't top that. When you have a moment, do you think you could repost your link for that nipple cream? silly pg brain can't remember the site.

cyteen · 01/09/2008 01:09

Cheers Ann I'm flagging a bit now, tbh - wish things would regularise so that we could get on the road and I could have some pain relief

Cyteen well I'll keep my fingers crossed for you then I shouldn't be complaining yet should I? You were due well before me, so I shall try and be more stoical. I am not jealous of you at all [magnanimous smile emoticon]

Morning all. Well, September has arrived and still no baby in the Ataraxis household. Actually, now that it is the 1st Sept I am feeling a whole load more relaxed about the whole thing. Nothing I can do about school dates etc so might as well just try to enjoy the last few days of my last pregnancy (and relishing full night sleeps whilst I have them). Ah the joys of giving up trying to take control of something you have no control over.
Annvan & Sambo, move over in that chill out room you guys have found, I am coming to join you .

cyteen - hope things got moving for you over night (or that you got some decent sleep) and that we hear very soon.

Congratulations to Oops and Vicky!

dizzy , don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. 5 weeks really is no time and with grief you can't expect just to pick yourself up and get on with it. With so much going on (your mum, DD starting school, new baby, DH going back to work...) it is understandable that you have times when you are struggling.
Do you think it might be worthwhile seeing a grief counsellor? Giving yourself space on your own to talk to someone with no emotional ties might help. Just a thought.

Think I might venture out somewhere today. Tried on thursday but hurt like hell.

Itching to go shopping to buy clothes for ds.

All family keep texting me to see if I am having withdrawel symptoms from my local shopping centre.
Me... anyone would think I went a lot
