Congratulations Libbyssister! Fantastic news and a lovely birth story. Very welcome for all of us still in the waiting room!

Good luck pf - I actually wrote a massively long post last night which then crashed on me and then t'internet went down. Seeing as it was then 11pm I decided to give it best... and now here you are contracting! Good luck with it - I agree on the sainthood for fissure advice mid-contraction - I think everyone's trying to keep up with TS's marathon live birth blog! I was wanting to keep comparing notes as we're in similar territory (overdue for hoped for homebirths) and I'm hoping my stretch and sweep later today will kickstart things. Like Cyteen though I'm starting to think this baby wants to go in the September batch to school...!!

VG that sounds blardy painful hope all the advice helps and the doc sorts you out.

Wanted to send to all those struggling with BF and sleeping. After DS lost too much weight in the early days last time gave up on boob and went for EBM for as long as I could hack it, which was a miserable experience for us both. I was knackered and expressing for 1.5 hours in every 3, plus not getting any cuddle time with DS, who was having my EBM via a bottle from Daddy. The upshot was a switch to formula, an available (and happier) Mummy and lots of cuddles at feeding time. He's now nearly 3, bright as a button, happy and healthy and I don't regret it at all, despite all the guilt and misgivings I had at the time.

Anyhow... waiting for the MW to call with an appointment for a stretch and sweep later today and given my experience last time, kind of hoping for a baby by Sunday.

Buckets · 29/08/2008 11:40

VG Try Germolene antiseptic cream on a fissure (remember having something like that years ago) - it has a built-in local anaesthetic. Keep it well-lubricated like that.

congrats libbysister on your little boys safe arrival.

pf how exciting!!

sausage this was my 2nd cs too, and like you they went in through the old scar. This incision is much longer than my last one and I have a horrid overhang too!! Hoping this will disappear with aittle exercise......[hmm

sazz great news on the bf front - you have worked so hard, so well done you!!

AnnVan · 29/08/2008 12:05

Hello everyone just checking in! Not much to report here, except SPD playing up horrble, was the worst its been last night. Kept eeling like my hips were going to buckle when I put weight on my legs. pain woke me uptoo. SO I had abpout two hours sleep, then a soak in the bath to help the hips then up till after five, when I fell asleep on the sofa. Not sure what time really.Anyhoo, have MW appointment at 12.45 so should be getting ready really.

libbyssister congrats on arrival of your little boy, and on having the kind of birth I'm oping for!

AnnVan · 29/08/2008 12:10

Oh yes! Good luck PF!! would wave pompoms but am too fat for that.

AnnVan · 29/08/2008 14:42

Where is everyone?

miamla · 29/08/2008 15:23

just a quick paddle in the thread..

TS your comment about T and his feeding habits made me laugh!

pil are visiting this weekend, wish me luck!

question... how long is your baby awake for when he's not feeding and not crying? ie awake and content with no nipple/bottle in his/her mouth?

miamla · 29/08/2008 15:31

ooh, and good luck pf!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/08/2008 16:08

Does or has anyone used a sling?

Interested in one that I can breast feed in, but am overwhelmned with the choice.
I have seen ring slings and freedom slings which look the same.
Anyone know anything about these. Also do you need to where specific bf clothing to feed in one of these.

Sorry I know this isnt the appropriate thread to ask but tried elsewhere.

Sister had dd today so didnt need to take the double pram out, so was going to invest in a decent sling anyway.
Have a normal carrier, but always hold onto it as feel like baby is going to fall out.

cyteen · 29/08/2008 17:27

Just spent a very enjoyable few hours with a couple of NCT friends and their babies Aww, lovely cuddly wriggly babies.

Miamla

No1, I'm using a moby wrap which would totally work for BFing. I LOVE IT!!! Even with my CS I've been able to use it since day one. Reese loves it too.

Doc gave me the all clear to drive. WOW! I've also lost almost all the pregnancy weight...started at 115lbs, went up to 136lbs, now i am 118lbs. Belly is looking great. CS wound looks great. Still moving slow but feeling better about my physical self. ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Also DD1 got to go to school today!!!! And she had a blast. Maybe normal times are close.

No1 I know how you feel, I've been dithering over this for ages! Finally just jumped in today and ordered one. I've oredered the Moby wrap which TS just mentioned, so that's a relief to see a little endorsement!

TS is the Moby easy to use? I just got so fed up trying to decide that it became a case of 'eeny meeny miny mo' more than anything else.

poppysocks · 29/08/2008 18:46

That's impressive weight loss TS. Congratulations! My weight loss seems to have slowed now, so think that I've got about 10lbs or so of chocolate/overeating for 9 months to shift . Only myself to blame though!

miamla - DD2 is now starting to have some awake, non-feeding time and i reckon she's probably the reverse of sazzle's DD - 2 lovely hours in the morning and an hour of screaming in the evening. Speaking of which, must go and deal with it as it sounds as though DD1 has got it going again. Sigh.

Oh and yes, to the CS scar overhang. Went through old scar, but 10x worse this time. Hoping some of it's still swelling and will go a bit so won't have to resort to exercise .

AnnVan · 29/08/2008 18:46

No1 bealcain is the sling expert on here, but she hasn't really been on that much lately.

stickybean · 29/08/2008 18:51

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread but wanted to let you know that my baby girl was born on August 23rd, her due date.

went into labour on friday morning, and after 30 hours got a bit stuck at 7 cms. She had moved her head into a transverse lie during labour so was basically stuck. Ended in a calm well managed emergency c section.
I did have a heamorage (sp) during the section but didnt notice as they kept it all very calm, they told me afterwards.

Care during delivery i was happy with, post natal ward a shocker and ended up discharging myself. Awful midwives who were mean and too rushed off their feet to care, cramped rooms etc the usual stuff. Left before they would have liked but very happy and well supported at home.

Lots of love and hope everyone is doing well

PetitFilou1 · 29/08/2008 19:55

I'm freeeeeee! Phew! Finally got out at 2pm - Joseph all done with his anti - Bs and my markers had come right down so was good to go It's so nice being back home, and being able to feed the lazy way - in bed lying down! Both DSs fast asleep (wonder how long for!) so just about to take a nice long soak in the bath... Fingers crossed am home for good, a little worried as I started to get tummy pains again and my blood loss has gone abit weird and odd smelling, but am on oral anti-Bs anyway so hopefully it won't be another infection or anything.

Congratulations to all who have had babies in the time I have been away, it's so much to catch up on.

Right, off to weigh myself (just been reminded on here (although mum said I still looked ready to deliver)) and have that bath !

Buckets · 29/08/2008 20:40

Oh good work PF! Have a Kitkat. Sounds like the MW was pretty hands off, was that good for you?

Congrats to Stickybean too, yay fight the power!

Had a fairly good day with Kurt today, DS1 was a PITA though. Tried to go to Mothercare to spend gift vouchers from DH's office but he refused to get out of the car so I had to abandon the plan and go home.
