LOL at your cussing annvan (but not lol at Mothercare - feckers ). Surely they must have a phone somewhere in their organisation?!! Stupid feckers indeed. Hope they get your stuff to you on time. Can you cancel your order and buy it elsewhere (bambino direct and others sites like it?)

CaptainCaveman · 28/08/2008 11:44

Can you tell ds2 is asleep?

I'm going to go and feed my face before he wakes up!

Thanks for sweating with me - was beginning to feel like a freak!

AnnVan · 28/08/2008 12:00

CC - have decided to cancel the order and go somewhere and pick a Moses basket up in person rather than waiting for a delivery. Pity though the one I chose from Mothercare was really sweet, but I'm disinclined to buy from them now. grrr. grr.

grr.

ho hum, big companies are bastards all. (god I'm starting to sound like some May day rioting McDOnalds torching socialist type, but they do have a point about the big corporations)

AnnVan · 28/08/2008 12:03

Although I wouldn't join them in torching Ronald McDonald.

VintageGardenia · 28/08/2008 12:19

I would join them!

Do you have piles for keeps, or do they go away? will try suggestions. Wondered whether might be just a little tear.

AnnVan · 28/08/2008 12:26

Lol VG - I wouldn't join them, but I would be cheering them on (very quietly) from the sidelines. (I know, I'm wuss)

No idea re piles sorry.
Oh, my brother's had them a couple of times though, and I think they did go away. Poor fella only early 20's and had piles twice!

cyteen · 28/08/2008 13:08

I find that piles come and go, like inlaws

Anyway, thanks for all the hugs and for reading my rant. I have cheered up a bit now. Been vacuuming in an attempt to start things off, since housework is pretty much the only home remedy that's open to me now (RLT = heartburn, no sex because of thrush, pineapple now gives me a weird allergic reaction). Have also washed our disgusting sofa covers. Lovely lovely DP has seen that my Facebook status is 'moody' and has promised to bring home presents and posh food to cheer me up I don't deserve him really.

AnnVan if you do decide to order a basket online, we got ours from Mamas & Papas and their delivery service was excellent - very prompt and efficient. Their prices are a little higher but the service was v good.

AnnVan · 28/08/2008 13:17

cyteen -lovey DP. i phoned mine to rant about Mothercare, and he just said 'what do you want me to do about it?' nothing I just needed to vent!
Think I will go take a look at Mama's and Papas site.

cyteen · 28/08/2008 13:38

Charming! I don't dare phone my DP at the moment in case he thinks it's all happening and has a panic In fact, it's a double bind with the whole 'people calling/texting to see if I've had the baby yet' situation; it annoys me when I don't want to speak to them, and if I do fancy ringing someone for a chat I don't dare because I know they'll answer going "OMG has it started then?"

Spoke to my SIL yesterday, she had had my family over (poor girl ) and apparently they were all asking if anyone had heard from me...as if one of them would know something and not tell everyone else! People are bizarre.

TwilightSurfer · 28/08/2008 13:41

Yes, piles come and go.....nothing permanent unless you don't tend to them, remove the pressure causing then and/or stop straining when you poop.

OP posts:
AnnVan · 28/08/2008 14:01

I agree Cyteen people are bizarre. Thankfully, I haven't had the constant 'anything happening' calls. Although each time I call MIL she has a panice that things have kicked off. Mind you she's the kind of person who panics/freaks out very easily. I've seen her go from 0 to completely histerical about to burst into tears panic in about five seconds.

AnnVan · 28/08/2008 14:08

I'm bored. Bored bored bored. hmm.

LadyOfWaffle · 28/08/2008 14:22

Oh LoW, what a nightmare you've had, is it Group B Strep or something different? Hang on in there, it's all for the best. And thanks for thinking of us in the middle of it all!

Kurt has a habit of sleeping loads - only in the daytime and only at someone else's house. His last feed started at 1pm and my letdown is stabbing away but I just can't bring myself to wake him up. How am I going to manage the schoolrun next week? Going to start a thread on MN for tips, that's how.

karney · 28/08/2008 16:41

Thankyou ladies for your advice, that really helped thank god for the mns First time mum and I can't help feeling a bit fried with lack of sleep and lo cryin a lot really. There's lots about Bf they don't tell you eh? Just fed him lots today again and this afternoon he has slept for a bit longer than usual Sonny was 6llb 2oz when he was born (40wk vb) and he can sure eat for a little fella!

sazzles - i did see that thread about mothercare. There is a toys r us on theother side of chatham so I might go there and get one. Th mamas and papas ones are just too expensive. Plus I'm a little too close to due date to place another internet order at this stage.

Ooh, andI'll havesome chutney please!

PetitFilou1 · 28/08/2008 20:05

Hello all
I've just about coped with getting through dd's birthday today (still the party to get through) but only just! I even managed to make a cake with pink icing and pink chocolate buttons. She's been happy with just having cake, cards and presents so that's the main thing.

Had a bit of a meltdown this morning and ended up in hospital having a check up. Obviously ds2 is fine, as I knew he would be really. Dh is immensely stressed though so that is not helping. The community midwife disagreed with the advice the hospital midwife gave and got a bit snippy with me so that nearly had me in tears so could have been better... They offered me a sweep while I was in hospital but I wasn't in the right frame of mind so will wait until Sunday (if I have to) Apparently they don't work so well before 41 weeks anyway.

VG Piles - bright red painless bleeding is the clue. I've had them since having ds and I find if I poke around it just makes them sore so I've just left them alone really. An anal fissure (which I've also had before) feels like - get ready for tmi- pooing glass. Very very painful. So imo it is easy to tell the difference. You need to drink plenty, eat lots of fibre, avoid sitting down too much (bit difficult at this stage) etc for piles to go (and I expect do exercise)

I have a couple of nice bf tops from Bella Mama - will post the link later if I get time

Sicking up all the time could be reflux or could be normal. If Edward is gaining weight ok and is generally happy it is probably just normal (spill a bit of milk on the table and it looks like a lot more than it is iykwim) Ds1 had reflux though and didn't put on weight and I ended up topping him up with formula and then he had infant gaviscon then finally it settled down when he went onto solids....

low you sound like you are really going through the mill - hope you and lo feel better soon

To everyone at the end of the list - my sympathies are with you..... I hate this and it is my last pregnancy and I should be enjoying it and I'm just not

PetitFilou1 · 28/08/2008 20:07

sazzles I would love some of your chutney. Very impressed and you must be coping very well if you have the time, the inclination and the energy to make it!

Just to check in briefly [waves] before trying to catch up on a week's worth of posts...

Am still waiting - now 8 days late and due for a stretch and sweep at home tomorrow...

Will catch up and post in a mo.

ataraxis · 28/08/2008 21:13

Feeling it right there with you PF - DH said just that to me this afternoon (ie, this is supposed to be a happy time so why are you so miserable (in the nicest possible way)). Here's why... despite my grandest efforts (as posted before), I rang the MW centre for the promised sweep this am - someone in labour (inconsiderate I call it ) and so had to call back in the afternoon, when they told me that they wouldn't be able to do a sweep as policy wasn't until 40+5, but to go in for a check up anyway. Went in for check up - MW there tells me policy is 40+7... so clearly they are totally in synch with their policies on this . Anyway, she did an internal on me anyway cos I asked her to - 1cm dilated . Looks like I am going to be carrying this one way past my 31 Aug (self imposed) deadline.
Been totally horrible to DSs tonight (although they were being pretty horrible too, but at 3&5 I suppose they are allowed to be more than me). So now feeling like a complete bitch who is never going to actually give birth to this child.

PetitFilou1 · 28/08/2008 21:40

ataraxis I never realised (because I have been failing to pay attention) that your two dcs were almost the same ages as mine. dd 3 today and ds 4 1/2. Mine have been pretty good lately to be fair but then I didn't see much of them today as we shipped them off to the neighbour when I went in to hospital. You have summed it up for me though when you say 'feeling like a complete bitch who is never actually going to give birth to this child' I couldn't put it better myself

sazzles 284 days? Bloody hell, when you put it like that.... Still impressed with your tomato chutney making. You could have lied though you know about the circumstances - we'd have been none the wiser pink choc buttons are the strawberry marbled ones from Thorntons. dd very impressed!
