Hear, hear Dizzy and cyteen. They talk lots of sense ALBS. You have done SO well to get this far and Henry will benefit so much from you feeling less tired and more comfortable. IMvvvHO, it's the all-round situation that matters, rather than just the milk.

dizzy - looked at the photos - she is gorgeous! Really glad things are going well, definitely makes life easier.

DS1 was amazing - put him in pull ups (at around 3) and talked him through the 'if they disappear over night you have had a wee'. He was dry within a week ! DS2 - no chance, after several stints of bed wetting, 'special pants' (which he wet through) etc I am on a similar planet to you on that one - unless he suddenly starts going dry by himself there is no way I am trying anything until DC3 is a)here and b)settled into the family.

On the note of (a) - changed the sheets this morning so would appreciate some praying to the law of sod that waters break tonight .

will keep my fingers crossed for you getting a wet patch tonight then!

ooh - just re-read my post - changing the bed sheets isn't that infrequent an occurence, just crossed my mind that it might happen because I did it today .

HELLO..........
ALBS remember I am exclusively FFing and I feel far from a failure. It's all about WHAT WORKS BEST for YOU and HENRY. There's no one else in the equation. I love the fact that I can sit and smile at Reese and DD1...I couldn't do that with DD1 in the beginning because I was completely overwhelmed with BF, tired and emotionally drained. I would sit while she nursed with tears streaming down my face.......feeling like a failure because BF was just not natural to me. DH found me like that one evening and begged me to stop, that it was killing him to see me that way, especially when BF wasn't our only choice. I cried on his request for a day and then made the change. DD1 is healthy and fine.....she missed nothing other than MY SMILES for the first few weeks of her life. Dizzy right, we have our children so we can enjoy them......take a moment and find that place....if it's with adding FF to Henry's feeding plan THEN SO BE IT. He needs your SMILES more than your BOOB JUICE.

oh is it mornin again? where has the last day gone? Sonny has been on a marathon cry-a-thon! He's feeding nearly every hour through the night so sleep is a rarity and when i have been putting him back in crib he just screams the place down. do week old babies generally cry for a reason? changed nappy/fed him so could it be wind? have been ptting him on my shoulder + patting his back but he seems to fart more than burp. was told bf babies didn,t get that much but i,m sure they get some.any advice would be most welcome.sorry longwfhomehaven,t had the pleasure of son staying awake and not crying looking forward to him lying on baby gym gurgling peacfully at some point in the near future.....ahhh! dream on....xxxxx

Bored bored bored...I am BORED! Woke up in a snit, which is never a good start to the day. Can't eat anything now without agonising heartburn - I think it's just because the baby is so well grown that there is massive pressure on all my internal organs, which to me is a sign that he should COME OUT NOW

My bad mood has extended itself to everything around me - feel totally fed up and misanthropic. It didn't help that Shouty Mum started up at 8.30am. She lives somewhere nearby; I've never seen her but have heard her on several occasions screaming such choice comments as GET IN THE FUCKING HOUSE NOW! NOW NOW NOW! at an unseen person, who I presume is a child. This morning's version was YOU ARE SO FUCKING STUPID. It's a great phrase to wake up to.

God, I'm so bored I'm actually making myself feel sick. Might have to go into town just for something to do (and so you don't all have to read my insane ranting).

Karney {{{{hugs}}}}, Reese screams bloody murder when hungry. Sometimes she'll eat, pause for half hour, then "request" more time to finish her bottle. could be Sonny "really" wants to feed more than every hour.....at least at the moment, like Miamla's Theo who camps at her boobs for feast festivals.

Reese is hopefully on the upswing. I managed to allow her to sleep all night in her bed (it's in my room). She's only been up twice feeding very little the first time (que worry) but is sucking it down now. Her mid-drink burp might have woken the neighbors. That might mean her cold is still making her breath funny, swallowing more air than normal. I'm just proud of myself for putting her down. Seems to have been beneficial for us both.

Typing one-handed is giving me a cramp!!!

TS, any odd scar pains are par for the course really, I wouldn't worry about it unless it's affecting your movement/baby-lifting.

Albs you're doing great and Henry's already had more breastmilk than either of my older kids ever had. I'm still not loving it but I think it's getting easier for me, I'm planning to take the kids to the inlaws this avo so I must have got some confidence back. TBH if I were in as much pain as you I don't think it would be unreasonable to do more formula evenings than EBM, just for the sleep and the nipple-respite. You could even add a little EBM to a bottle of formula if it made you feel better about it.

TS is the inseam the same as the scar? I still have a big numb patch pretty much right across my lower abdomen, just above the scar. Around 2 weeks post op I did get the pains you are talking about - could just be everything settling down?

albs please don't feel guilty for however you choose to feed Henry. The most important things are that you are happy and well to take care of all his needs. Do you feel that anyone else will judge you for how you choose to feed him? (ie. family, friends etc) Not that it is any of their business mind!!

karney at 4 weeks I still have to puzzle sometimes why ds2 is crying. In the evening he seems to be awake for about 2 hours then cries because (we think) he is over-tired. At this point we are cuddling, shushing and patting etc and trying all things to calm him, and he won't accept a feed. Last night, putting him down on the floor stopped his crying - the night before, being cuddled over the shoulder worked . I guess it's all just trial and error as we get to know our lo's better. Every day is a new mystery!!

Is anyone else sweating like a leaky tap? I thought that after 27 days I may have stopped losing the extra fluid I was carrying during pregnancy! I'm sweating like I just ran a marathon - not good

albs please ditch the guilt. As everyone has already said it's about what works for you and your baby, and you'll be no good to him frustrated and exhausted, sobbing your lamps out every night in unbearable agony with cracks and blisters and bleeding which in my experience is NOT par for the course this many weeks in. Giving him mostly breastmilk with some formula feeds will keep him healthy and well-nourished, and you sane. As dizzy said, reread your own sentence about being more chilled and happy. QED!

Now, my queries for today are:

1. How do you know if you have piles are there any indicators other than the presence of blood and some discomfort?

1. Can anyone recommend any practical but nice breastfeeding gear? I have bras but I've just been using maternity tops, most of them have sort of wrappy top bits which I just shove to one side.

1. Is sicking up all the time normal? Both smaller DS and I are wet all the time night and day.

Sweating: YES!!! Now I'm only 1.5weeks post op but still sweating loads. I'm actually dressing to help things move quicker...lots of cardigans lately. Guess it will continue until the uterus is nicely shrunk (and all the IV crap is gone.) Peeing loads too even when I don't drink a lot. Water water everywhere BUT no more incontinence!!! YEAH!

Piles: VG sometimes you can see/feel them externally. Other times you just know because it's painful to poo and yes you could see a tiny bit of blood rectally. Vasoline before you poo to help ease discomfort. Warm sitz baths are excellent to help relax the swollen bits. Witch hazel...my best friend, dabbed on after each trip to the loo. Fiber fiber fiber...softer stools help too.

VG I'm now an expert on piles. External ones feel lumpy (when you're brave enough to touch them). Internal ones can pop out occasionally and should be pushed back in to aid their healing. Anusol aint expensive and it won't hurt to try it for a week.

Karney, yes BF babies can be windy. Kurt is spent his first week doing very sulphurous farts! He's 3.5w now and I have to burp him mid-feed as my letdown is stupidly fast. It's even faster if I feed him lying down so I still have to sit us both up to burp. I find bouncing on my bum a little with him over my shoulder helps sometimes.

Who mentioned potty training? DS is 3 1/2 and refuses to talk about it! Hoping that starting pre-school will change things, bit of peer pressure never hurt.

Ooh yes I'm sweaty too but also slightly incontinent I'm thinking. When does lochia stop and incontinence begin? Still have pink stained pads but they smell of wee a bit. Trying to keep up my exercises but am now more nervous about sex in case I smell like one of my clients (remember I'm a carer!) See this is another reason why I didn't want a VBAC!

I'm well and truly pee'd off with Mothercare. Before I placed the order they said, normally dispatched within 1 working day, when I place the order it said it would be dispatched withing 5 working days. NOW I see that their estimated delivery dates is 5th-9th of SEPTEMBER. Howis that within five working days FFS? (I ordered this stuff three working days ago)
I don't really care about the other stuff but we need a F*ing moses basket for baby due on Saturday. And the best bit is, there's no number to call to speak to them the bloody bastard wankers.
