hi all thanks for all the good wishes re the cat. no news yet....like the duck story, Pinkali. Your home sounds like the one I grew up in, a complete menagerie! We were always the family people brought wounded animals to.

re nursing chairs, I have a nice firm backed armchair in the playroom and a little cushioned rocking chair in DD's room, both cheapo from Ikea but very comfy.

My best advice is one of those v-cushions- mine's a handmedown from MIL, because they can make any chair a comfy feeding chair.

I like feeding sat up in our bedroom- I guess that's my 'quiet place' that Dozy refers to.

I did kind of get used to feeding walking aroundthe house , making dinner etc. with DD as I had DS to look after, too. But you need to make sure whatever you sit on is comfy because you could be sat there for a bit!

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 17:04

sorry about your cat pinky . I hope it's just a wee infection (no pun intended) and some ABs do the trick in sorting it out.

Mine is limping today, but I can't see any obvious injuries.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 17:09

Thanks Lacks.....of course I have been given the obligatory giant antibiotic tablets to give her.....oh she is soo not friends with me at the mo'.

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 17:10

Yes Hana that was the main benefit of BF in bed for me, barely had to open eyes! Just lift baby in and on you go, bliss! It did take me a few tries to get used it tho so don't worry if you don't like it first time... Worth persevering!

I still use my V-cushion Pinky!! Even when not PG! Also used it to help DS sit up when he reached that stage. Good for back pain, reading/watching tv in bed too!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 17:16

they are very veratile things, those v-cushions, My MIL had it for general reading in bed etc. and didn't even know it was for feeding or sitting up baby. She got it from the charity shop, so it's actually third hand (washed, of couurse!!)

MonkeyMargot · 02/09/2008 17:43

Oh Pinky, hope your cat is going to be ok I love my dog more than anything (although presumably that might change once PNB appears!) You get so attached to them.
On the subject of V-shaped pillows - John Lewis' version is more of a C-shape if you know what I meant - designed to go right around you like a rubber ring. Not sure if this is better or worse than a v-shape. Anybody know?
I am not buying a BF chair, but am moving an old armchair into the nursery. However, in the early days when baby will be in our room, there isn't enough space for a chair so I can either BF in bed, or got and sit in the nursery. Hoping that I can BF in bed with a V (or C!) shaped cushion!
Had a customer meeting earlier, and (unusually for the world of IT) it was with 2 women - who both went into detailed descriptions of their pregnancies/births and life after. Amazing how once you're PG you become part of like a special "club". Very bonding!

misdee · 02/09/2008 18:10

i'm going to see Mama Mia tonight

LadyBuzz · 02/09/2008 18:24

Hi everyone, I'm up North too but maybe a little bit too far for a South Yorks Meet up but I will try once it is organised would love to see you all, I'm about as far north as you get this side of the border - 6 miles from Scotland!
Hana yes its me with the orthotics too they are so attractive, not as nice as Lacks shoes though I love them!
Choc your nursery and bump are lovely!
Welcome to Kerrie.
I'm getting really uncomfortable now having loads of BH and I can't breathe alot of the time, I've given in and takn my wedding ring off today ans I too am looking forward to Uggs season starting - As long as I can still get them on of course
Obs hope you feel better soon.
Misdee glad DD is OK enjoy mama mia.
Sorry if I have missed anyone hope everyone else is OK

twinklingfairy · 02/09/2008 18:36

Ooh yes, ugg boots I had forgotten about mine, yes the will be nice to slip into soon.
Must remember to get some leggings or mat skinny jeans.

I had my anti natal appointment today, but went to the wrong place, oops!
So had to grab my DD and mum and drive 20 miles to the hospital.
But I did get a scan so that totally made up for it. Though it was the most unclear scan I have ever had!
Apparently baby is 2llbs something, I forget the something. And I have a split placenta Part of it is on the front, part on the back, with a thread linking the two together. At least, it just looked like a thread to me, could be that it is thicker than that. But, so long as it is not at the bottom, they seems happy that a natural birth would be ok, but are still holding their breath to see what size baby gets to.
On the plus, the consultant seemed happy with me saying that I really did not want a CS and said he would do his best. Hurrah!
So nice to feel that I have one less person to do battle with. My mum still says, 'you will do what ever is best for baby twinkling' in warning, don't do anything to anger me voice. grr.
I just nod and agree, 'of course'. But I am gonna fight the good fight regardless what my mum says, it is my body.

oops, anyway
Enough of that rant.
I am excited by getting my secret stork person too! Though I have to go back to the drawing board now cos the thing I planned to buy will be no good anymore. Hey ho, Oh dear, does that mean I will have to go shopping. Shame that

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 18:37

For Pinkyminky

misdee, I must've missed your post abput your DD . off to find it now. Enjoy the film

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 18:38

am I the only one on the thread without a pair of Ugg Boots?

I can imagine that with my super hot feet they would be the last thing I need, wintery weather or not

twinklingfairy · 02/09/2008 18:41

ROFL
That had me in stitches daisy!!

twinklingfairy · 02/09/2008 18:43

Oh mine aren't ugg boots, Tesco's best for me!

Just had a random thought. Is anyone else from Scotland even, or am I all alone up here in the back of beyond?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 18:48

I'm from Scotland ...but in exile in Leeds

Would rather be from way up yonder twinkling.....well maybe not that far up, but leafy Perthshire somewhere, or the Cowal Peninsula.....or the East Neuk of Fife (am a Fifer born and bred)

Dozymare · 02/09/2008 18:57

Oh V Cushions....definately a very very good investment not just breast feeding!! I sleep with mine between my legs - helps with SPD! BF in bed is lovely but in the day, I really felt a I (and baby!) needed a sanctuary.....

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ANTIQUE-VICTORIAN-WICKER-ROCKING-CHAIR-c1880_W0QQitemZ330223282277QQcmdZViewItem?hash =item330223282277&trkparms=72%3A984%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&trksid=p3286.c0.m14

this is sort of like mine, but have a custom made cushion that will match the laura ashley bibi/gingham theme we have going on!!

(Hope I did the link properly!)

If you type nursing chair into ebay, you get lots - new and period and some very reasonable.....

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 18:57

I don't own UGG or UGG replica boots... yet! Maybe one day!

I am also from the proper north - Scotland ! Not as far as you Twinkling altho I do visit there often-ish as DH comes from there...

Dozymare · 02/09/2008 19:00

My DH is Scottish as well!

misdee · 02/09/2008 19:14

will save you searching lacksadaisy

i must find the wire for my phone and get the pics of her fat fingers and butterfkly(canula) as she wants to show people.

coolkat · 02/09/2008 19:19

Hi Ladies,

Gosh so much to remember so I will apologise now.

Ob's glad to hear you got anti-sickness tables and that DS was good today.

Re nursing chair, I had a pine rockng chair but sold it a few weeks ago as did not have the room so it will be sofa or bed for me with a V cushion.

I to can not wait to slip into my ugg boots, at the minute wearing flat bally pump things on rainy days, dream of the day I can fit back into my skinny jeans

Pinky sorry to hear about cat, our puppy well hes one now was poorly the other week and I was pleased he only cost us £30 at the vets.

Misdee we went to see Mamma mia on Sat, DH did it as a surprise as I had been feeling so low, I have to say I was dreading it thinking would b a nightmare with back etc but we got super seats and we both loved the film.

Hi to Kerri, there an addictive bunch you know, I struggle to keep up!

Monkey at your dentist bill, how come you have to pay did you not get an exemption card?

All of our baby bits are 0-3 as DD was 9lb so no point in buying smaller, if by some miracle this ones smaller DH can head to the shops! I do not have a snow suit for bringing home from hospital, I have a fleece coat, blanket and hat etc. Do you think I should get one?

Choc your nursery looks fab, ours is plain with the full of fun range (toys r us) accessories that we had from DD.

SPD eased a little although think this is because I am being sensible and listening to my body, I have been to work but don't leave the office to go off round site, still hurts but more copeable IYSWIM.Seeing MW fri need to talk about birth as bothering me

Any how better go and make DH cup of tea and teacakes as he will be home from work shortly.

chocolategal · 02/09/2008 19:20

hey twinkling im from scotland, think theres a few of us on this thread

is it bad to have hinted (BIG TIME) for uggs, the real ones hopefully from DH as a gift for me when baby arrives.....??

he always said he would get me an eternity ring when our 1st baby was born but i would rather wait till money was more plentiful and get the one i really really want!! and i love uggs (have cheap ones!)

choc your nursery is beautiful
misdee enjoy your night out at mama mia, its fab

ladybuzz i too have had to take my wedding ring off

Oblomov · 02/09/2008 19:46

Mine aren't proper uggs. Only fake/replicas. But good.
I need a new bf cushion. Am looking at a widgey.
Chocolategal, I have an eternity ring. Soon after ds born. 3 rings. All platinum. Worth ALOT ALOT of money. Give me total pleasure EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Dozymare · 02/09/2008 19:47

I have tall pink uggs - have worn them for 3 years and yes I do wash them......I don't wear them with socks and unbelievably they never smell think it is all to do with being sheeps wool....I also wear them non stop so a good investment so I say!

However, being a light colour they do show up the marks so my baby present will hopefully be these.......

www.asos.com/Ugg/Ugg-Long-Metallic-Boot/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=156631&cid=4172&clr=MetallicBronze& Rf-100=Boots&sh=0

as reckon will get another 3 years wear, maybe longer as they are darker!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 02/09/2008 19:51

Pinkyminky, I hope your cat will be ok.

Misdee, enjoy the show!

I picked up a chair I won from ebay today, it an Ikea Poang chair and I plan on using that to nurse the baby in at night. I also have 2 v pillows, so one will live on there to either support the baby or my back!

We had an appointment today to have the baby's heart rescanned and a growth scan. He looks absolutely perfect as far as anyone can tell. It took ages to get all the views they needed as he was "very active" which was putting it mildly! That's my boy!

Oh, and according to them, he weighs approx 5lb 1oz as of right now, I am 32 weeks tomorrow.

Please tell me they don't double their weight between now and birth? Poor little lamb was looking quite squished!

As DS1 didn't come with us, I wrangled 2 pics out of them! Dh thinks his features are very distinguished (ie, he has a big nose, prominent forehead and fat cheeks), but I just think he looks squished and remember very well both the other boys looking equally "weird" at this stage, but they looked nothing like their late scan pics as their faces had filled out fully before birth. See for yourself (pics at top of profile), he's not looking too pretty right now, lol! Good thing I love him! Oh, and I think that blob like thing at the top is the placenta and baby is head down and facing my back (as placenta is on the posterior wall)

ceebee74 · 02/09/2008 19:53

You can add me to the list of those without any form of Ugg boots - DH hates them and would probably disown me if I bought a pair (and tbh, I am not that keen). I am definitely a 'heels' kinda gal which makes it hard when pg

I am holding out for a Radley handbag as my present when DS2 is born - and DH can't fail to know this as I keep telling him

I have eventually found out who my Secret Stork is - and I am very . I am going to have a look on t'internet tonight for ideas - can't wait!!
