and I think wemight not get that cold, with our own central heating radiators on board

I hadn't thought of bicarb, but for me that is more about moving trapped wind than calming down heartburn, and too much has a laxative effect as well. I suppose it means I'm not eating shite too much as junk foods, fatty foods and fizzy stuff sets it off. Getting sick of blandness though and really craving a hot curry. Still 4lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight as well and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible.

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 11:21

I can't wait for the weather to get cold but dry so i can start wearing my UGG boots again. They are so comfy.

Suiledonn - I'm the same. I have bought a few things neutral (they get a bit boring after a while) but am having a dilemma about sizes. Some for newborns say up to 7lb 12 oz but what if Tarquin is a baby elephant and is 9lb er.. (OH GOD PINKALI PRAYING TO GOD THAT TARQUIN IS A HEALTHY 6LBer). They differ so much.

The MW on Saturday said we needed loads of vests and babygrows. I said all the books say to start off with 6 of each and she said no you need more. YIKES...

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 11:23

I'm going to get an all in one snow suit thing however not sure what size. Some of them are quite expensive so wanted to know what size before I wasted any money on s/he wearing it once.

Lacks - you're 4lbs under your pre pregancy wait??? NOT FAIR. I AM OFFICIALLY FAT

Beaches · 02/09/2008 11:24

I cant even have a cup of tea without getting heartburn!! Even mash pots set it off so bicarb saved me in that I can eat anything without suffering, have to say have never noticed a laxitive effect... Could of done with that to relieve the piles
Guess it is just diff strokes for diff folks

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 11:25

Next do a size which is "up to one month" and till about 10lbs, so we have got some babygros vests and a couple of outfits from there. As DS was 8lbs 3 and DD 7lbs 6, I'm not expecting to have this one small enough for teeny tiny newborn sizes.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 11:29

pinkali....you are NOT fat, you're PREGNANT.

Not sure what's going on with me, but all bloods etc are normal, thyroid fine. My pre pregnancy weight was about three stone heavier than the mid range healthy weight for my height, so I definately had it to lose (gained 1.5 stone each previous pregnancy). Would never have thought that being pregnant was a good way to lose weight though! I'm also eating more healthily and not drinking copius amounts of red wine on a weekly basis, as well as running around after a very active toddler.

(sit back and watch smugly as I pile on two stone in the last nine weeks)

Lacks - my legs are huge and i've never had legs like this before. Full of celluite (oh how lovely). I've never suffered before. I have put weight on everywhere despite not eating that much. even my ear lobes are looking fat!

I had a little bit of heartburn and remembered our last thread title so reached for the gaviscon which seemed to work. Isn't the old wives tale that hearburn means lots of baby hair?

I can't believe i am 30 weeks on Friday. Oh blimey...

Beaches · 02/09/2008 11:58

Hana I am not being narky and hope your not either I am just pointing out that it has not caused any harm since the early nineteen hundreds and therefore I dont buy into scaremongering. If we followed the medical profession on every little thing we would be half mad.

My mum ate liver for example, and smoked (not that I am saying thats ok by any means) there have been no ill effects from that either.

ChocOrange05 · 02/09/2008 12:07

Morning all (oops, just realised its 12.01 so good afternoon!)

Pinkali I am also using M&P Meadow decor for the nursery - I just took some pics and have put them in my photo gallery. DH and I decorated our guest room in December with funky wallpaper and then had to quickly re-plan for a nursery when our little surprise came along!

Merry I am still PMA-ing, DH told me yesterday I sounded like an ill person working a sex line! As for the shoe thing - are we talking winter shoes? I put my Ugg type boots on today for the first time and that was an effort, I had to lift my foot onto my knee. I can see DH coming in very useful when it comes to shoes! Maybe buy some nice slip on flats??

Forgot to say last time - welcome Beaches.

I just had my 31 week appointment with the doctor (shared care in Epsom) and all is looking good - measurements are fine and he said baby is head down. I just had a panic last night and realised that in 6-11 weeks time there will be an actual baby here - now I am freaked!!!

Have a good day all. x

Off to do a multitude of tasks, just want to stay home and snuggle up with dd1 but hey ho...
Thanks choc, made me laugh about the boots, I ask dd1 to play cinderella, she is the prince putting on my shoes

ChocOrange05 · 02/09/2008 12:14

Also just uploaded a scary bump photo onto my gallery - I took it myself hence the bump taking up the WHOLE shot!!!

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 12:24

nursery looks lovely choco, love the wallpaper...as does your bump

I must get organised; poor virgil doesn't even has much as a drawer unit to put his things in. They are in a box under DDs cot at the minute.

None of my poor babies has ever had a nursery . DS and I shared my room until he was nearly one; DD was moved into DS's old room that still has his stars and planets wallpaper (with two big splodges of yellow tester paint in the middle of two of the walls from when I had a mad idea I would redecorate before she was born), and virgil will be in with us and then he is moving in with DD at about four months into DS's room which is cream mostly with a navy wall that I'll stamp some stars on or something. Ds will be back to stars and planets.....with some pictures up to hide the paint splodges

I've had bad heartburn with both pregnancies, and two very hairy babies, but I think it's more to do with baby's positioning than anything; I carry mine very high so they are constantly knocking the contents of my stomach upwards.

DD awake...catch you all later

ceebee74 · 02/09/2008 12:30

Choc - your nursery looks gorgeous - can I move in?? And loving the bump aswell!

Daisy - all bump's new stuff that we have bought is currently shoved down between the end of DS's cot and his chest of drawers . I have no idea where I am going to store 2 lots of clothes - latest thinking is getting some mobile drawers or something for the landing. I think this is definitely a case of 'neglected second child'

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 12:35

Haven't caught up with all the messages yet but from the ones on this page I would second the 'up to one month' size baby clothes. It is what I have been buying but am not expecting them to last too long if DS anything to go by! Really depends on size of your little one but DS was 8lb4 so too big for newborn stuff!

Also love the nursery ChocO! Beautiful!

And welcome to Beaches

ChocOrange05 · 02/09/2008 12:37

Thanks for the lovely nursery comments Daisy and Ceebee - it has been DH and my way of getting used to this whole baby idea so we've spent quite a bit of time doing it, and every evening DH and I pop our heads in and look at each other in awe of it all!

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 12:40

Hi Ceebee just saw your post so off to the voucher thread in a mo. I got another 'holding' email from HR at work yesterday, saying they are in discussions with the relevant agencies and will get back to me by end of week... Just wonder what they are up to!

MonkeyMargot · 02/09/2008 13:08

Wow ChocOrange, your nursery looks fab! Whats the circular thing with bars? Is is some sort of baby cage?!
Went to the dentist this morning as haven't been for 3 years and I've been suffering from bleeding gums. It cost me £150 today and I've got to go back in 2 weeks to part with another £250. That's probably why I only go every 3 years! My husband calculated he hasn't been for 22 years, and therefore has probably saved several thousand pounds. His teeth seem fine aswell.
Oh well - off to a customer meeting now - the first time this particular customer will find out I'm up the spout.
Looking forward to Secret Stork - was it £10 budget? I really can't remember. Laters!!

suiledonn · 02/09/2008 13:18

I agree about the Next up to one month size. That is the size I got the snowsuit in yesterday. I think Next have the best range of sizes that I've seen but their neutral stuff all seemed a bit too boyish to me.

I am finding it harder to make decisions this time round because I keep relating everything to dd. BUT I keep telling myself this is a completely different person, could be a boy this time. Could be bigger or smaller. Might come early or later. It just makes it so hard to decide. Last time I just wandered around in blissful ignorance!!

We didn't do a nursery for dd which turned out to be a good thing because she is still in our room at 2.3 although she has her own room now. I'm going to move the baby in to her room eventually and will do it up more girly or girl/boy depending on what this little one turns out to be.

Oblomov · 02/09/2008 13:25

Thanks for all lovely wishes. Back form Kings, Ds was a total angel. Prof was concerned. Already have something strange in my blood test results. So had to have more extensive blood tests. Have had check for liver failure, although she thinks it is unlikely. And given tablets, anti-sickness ones, so we will see how I get on with those.

Daisy is 4lbs under? Bitch
I have put on a stone. I got weighed at Kings today.
Pinkali, my legs are huge aswell.
Mind you I did put on quite a bit of weight just before I fell pg.

LOL at Daisy's shoes. It is the Catherine style that I think should be compulsory for all of us. No one is allowed to attend meet ups, either Norf or Sowf, unless wearing appropriate shoewear And If MerryM arrives wearing socks and sandals, well, ladies, what are we going to do with her ????
I can't wait to get into my UGG boots either.

Loving everyones nurserys. Oh you are so artistic. We have nothing other thn white walls in ours at the mo. I like thomasina do need black out blinds still. And like her and ceebee, I did like those stick on transfers particularly.

Oh I have secret stork aswell. Am very pleased with who I got. Very excited.A bit nervous though. Want them to like it.... whatever I decide, no idea AT ALL , at the mo.

And I too am sorry, I don't think I welcomed beaches, or some of our other new arrivals.

Glad misdee and her dd3 are o.k.

God, I LOVE ChocO's nursery. And her bump is fab too.

All these people only buying a few items for baby. Like 6 babygrows ? Trust me, you are MAD. Buy lots and lots. I have loads. Means no stress of having to get things washed quickly.

I think thats everything , for now.

Oblomov glad they gave you something for the sickness. Hope it settles down. Well done to ds for behaving so well.

Shoes - on my last pregnancy I wore these ( freedom.dubarry.com/ladies/hustle/black-lea/ ) towards the end. They aren't pretty but the leather is very soft and comfortable and best of all - no shoe laces etc to tie.
