Thanks Sparkle, Monkey and Obs for the nice nursery comments - I do love it in there and I am looking forward to spending comfy hours in the nursing chair!

Monkey the "cage" is the cot - its a stokke cot so at the moment its on the mini size, which lasts up to 6 months and then we have bits to extend it to be used till bump is 7 years old.

Hi Kerri - I can't believe people are still only just finding us now, but its better late than never, so welcome! I have found this thread, and its lovely ladies very friendly, helpful and supportive and I hope you will too.

Choc, the nursery looks great. I love the funky paper too. Ours is all lemon with the meadow border. Am hoping to get it finished tonight so will take a picture and post it tomorrow. I lvoe just sitting on the floor in the nursery and looking around ( think I need to get out more). Not used to having carpet in there so it's just so lovely.

Kerri, welcome. Wow i'm also surprised you hadn't found us until now. Oh you have missed out on some interesting conversations, everything from getting my DH to do my bikini line, heartburn, strange TMI topics and the big one was the pram topic!! Have i seen you on another thread?

QUESTION ladies - Nursing chair, can't find one. What do I need it to do or not do? Arms, no arms, normal chair or special chair?

Kerri1983 · 02/09/2008 14:57

Thanks ChocO, your nursery is lovely and you are so well prepared!!!

LackaDAISYcal · 02/09/2008 14:58

hi kerry ...welcome to the mad house

PMSL at "baby cage"; that comes much later, when they are mobile

those stokke cots are lovely, but I'd be sorried they'd stop making them and then I couldn't get bedlinen, but I suppose you could always make your own

better toodle off to get DS. It's only a five minute walk but as I've not done it for 6+ weeks and there are hills involved, I'm giving myself 15 minutes today.

Kerri1983 · 02/09/2008 15:01

Hi Pinkali, I have posted on a couple of other threads. I used to be on the TTC Clomid thread last year. It feels great to be able the move on from then!

I am so jealous of those who have their nursery's all decorated. I have all the bits but haven't got round to making a start. Fingers crossed by the end of this weekend I too will have a room to gaze at.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 15:05

choco your nursery looks fab.

Very glad you got something for the vommminng, Oblomov. If it doesn't work go back and get something else, it can sometimes be a bit of trial and error- hope there is nothing siniister wrong though.

Yay got my secret stork, too. It's all very exciting.

ooh baby clothes... I love them.. I keep looking in the baby's drawer..
Next is good, Gap good, M/care new baby or somesuch goes up to 10lb something, too, and their sizes tend to be generous. Polarn O Pyret is fab but a little pricey.
Some of them are daft- like John Lewis, whose clothes come up small anyway, their newborn is something like up to 8lb!

Had to take our cat to the vet today, she is weeing everywhere and not verry happy

Vet has taken some blood so will know any results tonight. He did that stepping away from the table looking serious thing that always worries me.

DS spent the whole joureny in the car telling me how much he loved the cat which isn't making this any easier.

misdee so glad your little girl is ok

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 15:06

hello Kerri!

Dozymare · 02/09/2008 15:18

bugger bugger, typed a lovely long post and got deleted - does that happen to anyone else or only me

Anyway...Firstly secret stork - am very happy with my storker (!) as I feel I know her quite well........well done to your DH for sorting it all oout!

Obs glad prof is on your case - when is your next appointment, have you been sick today or feeling better???

Chocornage you rnursery is lovely - very funky feel....and quite grown up, when ours is finished it will also be quite grown up but more of a shabby chic feel./......I am going to get some sort of heart butterfly stickarounds to give it more of a little girl feel.........

AM LOVING THOSE SHOES! I have to say in this sort of weather I have been wearing my docksiders non stop (no socks) but at least they are enclosed. I am also looking forwrd to cooler weather to get my UGGS out. I love them!

Off for a proper catch up now

What else is happening??

Hiya

So much to catch up with! Firstly, welcome Kerri You couldn't have come across a nicer bunch of ladies, this lot are ace and always supportive

Obs - So osrry to hear you're being poorly but glad your Prof is on the case, I hope the tablets kick in soon

ChocOrange - your nursery is fab!! Am very that you have it all sorted already. My MIL is arriving on Thursday for the weekend and is painting the room for us. I think I mentioned it earlier, but it will be typically neutral just as the rest of the flat is! I want to sell next year and London buyers love cream/beige etc. Mind you, the blue & white curtains and blue carpet I already had are just fine for this little blue bump!

PinkyMinky - so to hear about your cat. Hope the news is good later on so will keep fingers crossed. I have 2 cats and don't know what I will do when they become poorly. I am very lucky that they are indoor cats aged 11 and 10 and in good health. They are gorgeous and have been exceptionally good company throughout all this 'stuff' with DH recently. They won't leave me alone!

I had a mw appt this afternoon and all is good with bump, he is measuring the right size but is happily breech at present. This doesn't matter much as my cs is booked in for 9 WEEKS TIME!!!! I am 30+2 today and can't believe that he will be here soon! I have just 4 weeks of work left before mat leave and I can't wait. I finish up on the day before we have our London Ladies tea so that's 2 exciting things to look forward to. Also, big thanks to Daisy and her DH for sorting the secret stork. I have someone I know quite well and looking forward to doing some shopping now

Hope everyone else is OK and sorry if I've missed anyone out

xx

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 15:47

Ah yes I was on that thread too. It's rather surreal to be in this position after having tried so hard to stay positive whilst ttc. We are carrying such miracles!

Still on baby clothes, M & S are hopeless fo newborn ones as they only go up to 7lb something.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/09/2008 15:50

Hi Autumnlady I was very sorry hear the problems you have been having.I do hope things get better for you.

Great news about youe cs. I'm going to make some sort of decision when I see the consultant next week. I remember feeling so happy when I knew DD's birthday.

Thanks for the sympathy about my cat. She was a rescue kitten and she is now 13. She is very much an indoorsy cat, potters in our back yard a bit but that's about it, so has rarley had anything wrong with her.

She looks so fit but the vet thinks it may be her kidneys..will have to wait and see.

AutumnLady · 02/09/2008 15:57

Hi Pinky

Thanks for the kind thoughts, we are still a long way from being sorted but we are trying and are keeping talking so that's one thing.

My cs is 3rd November (unless he arrives early) but I can't quite get my head around that being his birthday iykwim? just all seems a bit surreal but VERY exciting! I just can't wait to meet him.

One of my mum's cats (aged 12) had bladder stones this year and was quite poorly. He kept weeing everywhere but has had them removed now and is perfectly fine. Hopefully it is something that can be treated easily - but never cheaply! One of my cats had to have some teeth out earlier in the year and it cost £250!!! Unbelievable really but she is worth every penny to me

Let me know what happens
xx

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 16:00

Dozy that happens to me more times than I would like to admit, it is so infuriating!!

Got my secret stork too, time to go shopping!! [grin}

Our nursery is also DH office, he works from home at least 2 days per week and will have to stay a multi purpose room until we can put DS in with DC2. Then DH can have the smaller room as his office. Not ideal but there is no way round it at moment...

At least the room got painted last week (also lemon as don't know flavour and needs to suit DS eventually too!) but it is still a tip! DC2 going to be in with us whilst he/she fits a moses basket tho so still have some time...

Pinkali I was desperate for a nursing chair + footstool with DS so bought one but have to say I rarely used it! Am going to try to use it more this time around but I found the armchair in my living room more practical (more due to its position in house than anything - near tv!). I like having big arms on a chair to rest my own arm on and they keep cushions from falling off too. You can get nursing chairs on internet sites (Kiddicare/Kiddisave) and I have also seen people selling theirs in local papers so prob ebay another option. However as lots of shops having sales just now you could try them too...

Pinkali37 · 02/09/2008 16:01

Autumnlady - So sorry if I have missed this in the earlier threads but why are you having a cs? I am probably being stupid

Talking animals, i was at the vets last Friday with my favourite duck "Quackers". He had all tehvets in hysterics as he was being so well behaved standing on the table. HE then started to pant so i asked for a little water for him and she gaev him a kidney shaped bowl of water. He proceeded to drink some and then plonked himself in it and it went everywhere. It was very funny. Anyway, sorry to hear about your cat Pinky.

ChocOrange05 · 02/09/2008 16:03

Pinkali - our nursing chair is this cosatto one - its expensive new (we got ours second hand) but its so comfy. I think comfy-ness is the key so try before you buy. The price ranges are huge from £60/70 up to £3/400.

Pinky sorry to hear about your cat - I never understood why people got so attached to pets, until I got my cat - now I get worried if I don't see her for a couple of hours! Fingers crossed she gets better soon.

Autumn very of you knowing your actual birth date - I realised last night that mine could be here in 6-11 weeks, and with me being so impatient sods law says it will be born 2 weeks late which coincides with the full moon! I keep telling bump I will love it more if its born earlier and smaller - do you think they are influenced at all at this stage!?!

PS - sorry I forgot to mention before but Obs hope you are feeling better soon. x

oops Pinkali - just realised the nursing chair link was wrong - [[http://www.olivers-baby-care.co.uk/Gliding-Chair-and-Footstool/14pol576p.asp here] is the right one!

Oops meant to add welcome Kerri!!

DS got an extendable kiddie bed for his birthday last week and he loves it! It can extend up to the size of normal single but is much lower. Means I have the cot free for DC2 and no jealousy issues - he hasn't even given it a 2nd look since we got the new one for him!

ChocOrange05 · 02/09/2008 16:08

OK - my copy and paste is obviously having a mare today - this is my last try!!!

Non essentail nicety.
I had the old family rocker that mil had nursed all children in, including dh. And all sil's had nursed all ds's cousins. Ds was such a fast breastfeeder, I was only in and out of it.
AND we didn't use it for that long.
Nice if you have the money/room.
Not bothering this time.

Dozymare · 02/09/2008 16:48

i agree with Obs Hanaflower

I actually don't like the BF chair and stools as think they look like old people's chairs! A nice comfy armchair does the job justg as well. In fact, like Obs I have a victoria nursing chair that was my Granny's, then my mum's and now mine...have just ordered a new cushion cover to match the red room theme going on!!!

What I would say, is that if you can have a chair away from the main living area of the house (I know you aren'tdoing a nursery) it's a lovely quiet place for you to BF and becomes a "special place". I loike to take myself of in the early days and just have a quiet BF with babies away from the hustle and buslte of the rest of the house....

sparkletoes · 02/09/2008 16:55

Hana Definately could have lived without my nursing chair... Armchair was more comfy. But was nice to have a chair in baby's room for night time feeds - until I got hang of BF in my bed... and never looked back after that!
