I know how you feel CYteen how did that happen? It only seems yesterday I was looking at a pee stick with 2 lines on it wondering whether to tell DH or to let him sleep? Also finally realised yesterday I acctually have to give birth !

Well we have discovered that sex definitely gets things going in a fashion here - contractions every 6 mins lasting 40 seconds for about 8 hours then they flaming dissapeared again - now how do we keep them going? Taking littlest from work to a birthday pool party we were both invited to ages ago, maybe 15 screaming kids in a pool will help.

Thanks for the brekkies offer Sazzles but we are off to Whetherspoons for DH to have a fryup and vast quantities of coffee.

TS I can't imagine being in a routine this early but I'm not a very organised type. Having said that I think for the first few weeks - or more - you have to let yourself be guided by the baby really (excuse for me not to be organised) and give what's needed when it's needed.

Has anyone read or heard of Can Any Mother Help Me? I'm reading it at the moment and it's about a sort of pre-computer Mumsnet group which started in the 30s. Fascinating read, especially, given our current situations, the birth stories some of the women have written, really interesting. But so similar to MN, people writing re. their issues (under pseudonyms) and other members of the club writing comments or responding.

VG i've heard of that - someone at work told me about it when they saw i used MN - they clearly realised it was Mn-esquq thing. I keep meaning to pick it up in Waterstones but there's always another book!! Not that I'm reading at the mo. I remembr being like this with dd - too tired to read, hough when was was 8 weeks old the 5th 9i think) Harry Potter came out so I had to read it cos IU didn;t want anyone to tell me what happened .

Henry was settling down next to me on the bec - i was nicely dozy knowing he may go abck off, when up came his last feed. Not just possetting - this required me to call dh and him whip the sheets off the bed!!!

sazzles I've maninly tried the froggy position with the sling but he hates it when i try and put his head and arms in. Just tried the foetal postion just now and he went to sleep though I think i'd got it wrong (memory not using the instructions) plus he head butted the fabric away so his head was dangling out thus meaning Mummy had to hold his head , he knows what he wants. Needless to say I wasn't having that kind of totally not arms free (for me) sling useage for an entire sleep and I wriggled him out and put him in the pram.

And he is just about out of his up to 1 month babygros (or suits as we call them) and into o-3. Some o-3's are not overly big, but some are still saggy. lol.

dh and dd having cinema time and watching Penelope on dvd - then later dd and I will go out for our time together. Then after that.. who knows apart from feed feed feed. Hoping Hnry will take the ebm while i'm out. Sil warned me that dn took it once and then never ever again (though dn screamed when bfing too so they were caught between a rock and a very very hard place)

dizzy I know what you mean about homework. Dspite having degrees and stuff I know by the time dd is in year 3 i'll be struggling with her homework. Cos I am NOT a mathsy person at al.

Hello everyone! I will read the thread at some point today and catch up. All good here, I keep falling asleep feeding Oliver in bed (now he will feed lying down) . It's not just dropping off, I will wake up 2 hours later! Am terrified I am going to squash him in my sleep.

CC I have been feeding this littlun in bed a lot and I just find it so easy and minimised fuss and disturbance during the night. The only downside is constantly having to change our sheets covered in leaked milk, dribble, posset, etc! I'm not worried about squashing him but am worried that the duvet will get cast over him, so I move him as far up the bed as possible, and the duvet as far down as possible.

Can I be very selfish and ask people to take a look at a thread I have started? I didn't want to be all me me me on this thread but I do so value all of your input, so if anyone has any advice, it's about expressing ... oh! one day I will post again about corset tops, or the US elections, or Mandela's 100th birthday...

ALBS I remember DD1 projectile vomiting her feeds occasionally and freaking DH out. Reese hasn't had time to prove she's got what it takes to match her sister...give her time. I remember waiting for her head to spin and the demonic talk to start. WELL CRAP! Reese just spit up all over herself...................brb

Okay after Sazzle and Dizzy both posted about pain med refill....AM I AN ODD BALL?? I'm not in pain. Well not surgery style pain anyway. I'm sore in my arms and legs and back where I'm having to move (carry myself) differently....achey like post-marathon-run but nothing more. Should I be in pain somewhere like the stitch area or something??? Now I can't do a backbend or pick up anything off the floor. I'm very cautious about certain movements but I'm getting along, doing a little here and there LIKE A 100 YEAR OLD LADY. Just please tell me, is there something I'm not paying attention too??? I am offically 4.5 days post op now.

Reese gets her 5 day old check today. Depending on things DH might take her by himself. I set the appointment with the peditrician he likes (he's male, has three girls, and is our same age). Can't imagine he'll have any "news" that would be unusual since Reese is PERFECT...feeds like a elephant, poos beautifully, SLEEPS like a log, and is finally alert & attentive for a few spells a day now. I'd like to go just because I'm a control freak who has to be involved in everything BUT then I'd like to spend some one on one time with DD1. But then she'd like to see Reese be poked and prodded by the doctor. She's twisted like that. So who knows.

Just done it myself, Sazzles, for the first time since about day 4 or 5 when I was in agony and looking for relief. It's weird with the electric pump (though very efficient, my goodness), I only had a hand one with elder DS and didn't really use it.

the electric pumping girls...boobs now fully loaded...guess this will be my Jordan day. Might ought to get measurements just in case DH would like to purchase me a set like these later on. Will wait to cabbage leave me until after our trip into public.

NOTE: Major Accomplishment....I shaved my legs all by myself!!! I can officially put my shorts on today without being scarey. YEAH!!

Well ladies, I had a MASSIVE catch up sleep. feel quite good at the mo.

Well, dd and I had a nice couple of hours out - and dh and ds had anice time at home. ds drank the ebm - yay! When i got back I expressed cos I;d missed a feed (obviously) and was feeling quite full. Suddenly feeling full again - I think i don't leave it long enough when I am expressing - I give up within 10 mins.

Just been going through dd's baby clothes. Sorting the toddler wear for dniece and will do the 3-6 upwards for best friend's dd (who is 8 months but still in 0-3 months!!!). DD grabbed a few things and made herself a costume. She has an old- rather tight dress on and tights on her head .

No birth news from me...have just been asleep on the sofa for a few hours Then had a phonecall from my dad: "Has anything happened yet?" No...that's why I haven't called you...

oops I agree with the other ladies - more sex is probably the way to keep those contractions going

congrats all who have birthed since i was last on , will tell you my birth story when i have caught up! but Olivia Rose was born at 8.58 pm on thur 21st weieghing 8lb 3 oz via vbac.
