Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AnnVan · 22/08/2008 11:12

Hello again everbody. Can you believe this? Turns out I have SPD. I think I might be a walking catalogue of things that are crap about pregnancy. THankfully it's not as bad as some ladies have it but still... at least now I know why my hips crack and crunch every time I turn over at night. I'm not anaemic though

MW reckons Ihave a fair size baby in here, head is 3/5 engaged, and its feet are still crowded against my ribs.

AnnVan · 22/08/2008 11:13

TS - I know the feeling. I resorted to eating a whole tin of baked beans on wednesday to tray get things moving. It worked though.

bohemianbint · 22/08/2008 12:16

Oooh, hello - my waters have gone!

But nothing is happening...

Am booked in for a homebirth and now getting the fear about being dragged in for an "acceleration".

Wish me luck!

AnnVan · 22/08/2008 12:19

oh good luck!!!! >

Nezzi · 22/08/2008 12:29

Good luck Bohemian hope all goes to plan.

My aqua class has been cancelled, boo!! MW called my DP's number to let me know (don't know why) and he shit himself, thought she was calling him to leave work and head to hospital

Cleaning thing must be contagious, I've just cleaned bathroom grouting with a toothbrush!

TS congrats on your poo

One of my friends is coming round later with treats from her Jewish deli, yum! I'll share if anybody can wait for a while for lunch...

Sazzles no she made no suggestion, just said 'that's late pregnancy' so no help there Re SPD just turns out I've had it for a while, I just didn't KNOW that's what it was. It's been getting worse lately though, and MW noticed me walking funny which is how my diagnosis came about.

Um slight correction to make to my last post - it's not supposed to be 'baby shiting vibes I actually typed shifting but my F key doesn't work properly

miamla · 22/08/2008 13:37

oops and pf are you both trying to guilt me into cleaning my fridge?!!

buckets what a lovely post from you! glad to hear things are all looking brighter. my let down is more of a stab and less of a tingle too. DP thinks its funny when i suddenly screech "milk" at him. well, its only fair he knows what's happening!

TS its great to hear about your crap news!

bohemian good luck!

ooh i'd forgotten about no1's lack of blinds! and she labouring in daylight hours!

well my little man here had a pretty good night but as soon as he woke up this morning at 7am he decided that it was time to start a marathon. i pulled him off at 12 because i was starving myself! he grumbled and cried but i still figured my need was greatest so i tried putting him in the wrap so i could get my breakfast and you know what, he's still in there now! so i'm going to see how much eating i can get done before he wakes up

dizzydixies · 22/08/2008 14:13

finally managed to register Dylan today, only a day late

TS when you get a minute can you change her please to Cordelia Dylan Ismay - a slight change in the name

we were late to pick up dd1 from school - not good on her first week at school - we'll have a black mark against our names already [embarrassed slattern parent emoticon]

dd2 has just ripped up dd1's homework too so am going to have to go and deal with the hysterics that have come as a result of that

am too tired for all this today [fed up]

fingers crossed for some decent weather this weekend so I can at least get the kids outside

alittlebitshy · 22/08/2008 14:49

sazzles which sling did you have?? I've got toeh close baby carrier and am v proud that I cna get Henry in an dout on my own (litle things please me lol), but he isn;t overly keen. Maybe i'm doing something wrong .... He also seems to think he's 4 months old cos he wants his head to be loose and his arms free - . Ditto when feeding he does that talky thing, mm mm, hmm, mm, uh - the bfc lady laughed and said he thinks he's 3 months old.

bfc lady came - was ok but I eally don;t think there's much more anyone can do. I just can't "get" the positioning everytime ob the left - and the right has been a bit tender today too . Why can the rest of the world manage this natural thing but i can't get the hang of it ?.

Met dh for coffee just now - v nice. Then went ot Sainsbury's cos we are out of non bio, low on hand wash and I wanted to look at the clothes . Got naother top - hope it does the norkage-covering business.

Btw - can i just do a in my purchases of yesterday?! Nice new (big) trousers and nice top. (and new bra but I won't subject you to that).

Ladies who are talking about their letdown. When do you feel this?? SOmetimes I wonder if that is what is the tender part in my good boob. It sometimes tingles/slices around the boob bit as apposed to the nipple.

dizzy oops at being late for dd1. I'm sure she won't hold it against you! I've done so little on the caring for (esp the getting her dressed, bathed, fed and out places) dd since ds came along - i wonder how I'll fare when I have to do pick up every day in just over 2 weeks. Dh has pledged to drop her off for the first term (my hero) - which will take us to when henry is almost 6 months, and if i get that far, that is all I am Making myself bf for - so everything may be a bit easier, and if i carry on bfing it will be for pleasure lol. Mind you - she has to be at school at 8.30 - eek!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry - v me me me . [selfish emoticon]

alittlebitshy · 22/08/2008 14:51

annvan lots of higs re you spd - and I'm pmsl at your F key playing up!!!!! Some lovely chances for misunderstanding there

alittlebitshy · 22/08/2008 14:56

apologies for my ever present typos - is not helped by fact that mouse is not being v co-operative so is not clicking and moving v well. grrr.

AnnVan · 22/08/2008 15:19

Thanks ALBS. Don't beat yourself up re the bf thing though, I'm getting nervous about it myself as it really seems that lots of people have trouble with it. You have to wander what happened to mums and babies who couldn't get the hang of it in the days beore formula?

Have been to the hospital and hired a tens machine [eek] suddenly feeling really close!

LadyOfWaffle · 22/08/2008 15:41

I'm back! Well, I was back last night but been very busy! News briefly while back holds out...

21/08/08 @ 12.47pm 10lb5oz () baby boy!!!!!!

If you haven't had your baby yet I wouldn't read on...

I think my last update (can't remember) was me going in Wednesday night/evening with contractions that started at 9am. Well, was put on monitor and contractions were good etc. but as the cervix was posterior (?) I was sent home. Had to try and get some rest through the contractions, managed to get through to 7.30 when I was booked in for induction anyway. Think it was about 8.30 when they wanted to examine me (by the time I got a room /settled etc.) and they broke my waters at the same time. They said I could have an epidural if I was 3-4cm After the exam she said I was 4cm so ordered the epi man. Also there was abit of meconium (can't spell!) so I was again having to stay on monitor (so definatly wanted the epidural! Especially after nearly 24 hours of labour) While she was breaking my waters she gave me the gas and air (which I didn't use last time because I hated the feeling) but I sucked away anyway. Felt better this time so I kept with it. All of a sudden though I got immense pressure and actually did the whole yelling thing (which I really thought i'd never do as I am very self concious like that!) The epi man finally arrived but I needed checking before he did it because of the sudden pressure, but I was still OK to have it (thank god...) Contractions were so close together it was quite hard and the guy tried about 3 times to get it. Then he called the Top Epi man who came and also tried, but it just wouldn't work. He got it in ok but it didn't take effect. He said he'd give me a 2 hour spinal tap then, but MW checked me again and babys head was right there and i'd have to go on just gas and air (my TENS was lying at the side of the bed because of trying the epidural). I couldn't even change positions because of the monitor, it was honestly hell on earth (at the time). I couldn't grip anything because I had to keep my hands by my bum, and couldn't have the gas and air during the contraction because I had to keep pushing. I had to take a few (worked out to max of 3 quickies) sucks as I started to feel like it was coming, then do the most painful pushing. My contractions weren't lasting long though so could only get 1 good push (by the time I sort of found the right place), 1 midi push and one tail end push which didn't do much as the contraction was gone by then. Then between the contractions/pushing was agony because it felt like I had half a watermelon hanging out. In the end I sacrificed one or two gas and air sucks for some longer pushing time which must have done the trick as suddenly I felt head come, then next push, same contraction he was out! I just started crying because all of a sudden you have a baby! It doesn't sink in at all until you suddenly see a baby. It was the first thing I said "we have a baby!" DH said " we have a baby boy", and I was like "eh, what's this boy thing?" I didn't think at all about the sex of baby, it didn't even really register that baby was either boy or girl if that makes sense. Placenta then came which I was beyond relieved I didn't have to push out (DH said they were pulling it out!) . THen I found out the main source of all the pain - I have 5 or 6 (I lost count when she was going through them all) tears. They are all over the place - I was too out of it to register where she was saying they were, but I made her show DH so I can keep track of them all! After the birth I really though I was just going to keel over - while she was doing my stiches I just puffed gently away on the ags and air and between the local aneasthitic (sp!) all round there, the pain relief thing they put up your bum and I guess the rest I got 1/2 out of it on the G & A I felt a million time better by the time she was done. After she was done, I was just desperate to stand up but when I did I nearly fell over again and gushed out blood, so had to sit at least on the end of the bed - but felt soooooo much better anyway. Then had a cup of tea which I swear is the single best thing I have ever tasted in my life. A while later I waddled up to have a bath and was told I could go home on the 6 hour discharge thing as long as baby was feeding OK and I could wee. Finally managed a wee after 2 long attempts and about 4 jugs of water and baby was feeding pretty well (he's just abit flustered when he does it then gets lazy if I squeeze it out for him!) so was out by about 8.30 pm! Soooo glad to be curled up in bed at home with baby. Had to get up and get going this morning though because we had to go back to hospital for his Ped. check up, now we are getting the house back in order for DS coming home (so excited to see him again!) No MW visit today (I can't have the hospital MWs as out of area) and our local ones I guess are busy! They don't do weekend visits either so have to go in tomorrow, but finally, hopefully after that I can finally get a decent sit down and rest! Major pain though - I have 8 holes in total in my back from epi attempts, one with a massive bruise (I mean really massive) so I can't sit back properly, sore tummy contraction things, all my stitches, blood leaking everytime I move and I big hole in the back of my hand which also wouldn't stop bleeding for some reason yesterday! But, apart from all that [moan] I feel on top of the world. Baby is just beyond words. No name yet, we really can't seem to think of one good enough for him! Hopefully one will just come in a few days. Sorry if that sounded very moany, but the birth was truely awful if I am totally honest but I am high as kite now Just gonna ask about numbing spray then I'm off for a while, i'll catch up properly when I am back (hours/days?) {{hugs}} everyone - good luck to those who are still due! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

miamla · 22/08/2008 16:38

LofW, may i be the first on here to congratulate you
well done, sounds like you did brilliantly during a hard delivery
x

miamla · 22/08/2008 16:41

blimey, just noticed your little boy's weight! we really are having large babies on here! well done for having a VB, not surprised you've got a few tears! tip from me re tears... keep topped up on the paracetomol. i had max dose for the first few days and really didnt have much pain at all. make sure you take it easy though, sounds like you've done enough running round for appts already. get the next ones to come to you and put your feet up
cant wait to find out what you call him
congrats again

alittlebitshy · 22/08/2008 16:51

Congrats LOW and wow - another big one for the thread. How big was your ds1?? Thanks for the birth story - good to hear how it went!!! Hope ds1 enjoys meeting his baby brother

Well, yesterday ds enjoyed the sound of the hoover, today he's dozed off to the wahsing machine! Simple things. I remember we once left the hoover on outside dd's room when she was a baby cos the white noise soothed here .

Just mopped kitchen and downstairs loo floors! Big achievment!

miamla · 22/08/2008 16:56

albs do you fancy mopping my kitchen floor? actually, the living room could do with a hoover while you're here!
how has the feeding gone this afternoon? my milk monster has switched to a day-time marathon so perhaps we'll all get some sleep tonight, or perhaps not!
we havent tried white noise with him yet but DP swears he's got the same taste in music..hmm black metal wouldnt be my first choice to play to a newborn but it kept them both entertained for a little while!

wtf is handball all about?? its being played during the olympics at the moment and it just seems so random! lots and lots of goals, no tackling and lots of penalties and fouls! i dont get it at all!

cyteen · 22/08/2008 17:07

Oh my goodness LoW, congratulations on your mighty big boy! Such a moving post - despite the difficulties of the birth it's obvious you're so in love with him already, it's wonderful Very well done you. Now make sure you REST and let the world take care of you for a bit xx

alittlebitshy · 22/08/2008 17:33

miamla - er, no thanks, i'm ok with my own cleaning thanks - in fact i'd rather not to that but dh thinks once a year is ok for clenaing . The house is soooooooo dusty . Lol.

We're having indian tonight. DD will be delighted - we normally have takeaway after she's in bed, but as dh is on cooking duty at the mo I think it's a mighty fine idea to give him the night off it!!

Feeding been - sore on one side, and a bit less comfy as usual on the other, but I'm deternined at this time of day that i'll stick at it (midnight is another story). I do think that at some stage in the not too distant future we wil end up gicing Henry his last feed as something in a bottle (rose?! - maybe ebm, or as dh suggested ebm as much as poss, but if supplies are low occasional formula..... we'll see though. ATM we've agreed not to even get formula in the hlouse so I can't do it in a frustrated moment!!

Ds asleep again . Had a longish (2.5 hour) sleep, a feed, then dozed off as i said, but he's still zzz-ing. Prob giving himself the energy for cluster feeding tonight. Alst night he was too tired and snacked and dozed all eve!

AM looking fwd to my time with dd tomorrow!!!!! I expect dh lookng fwd to his time with ds too. Aw.

bohemianbint · 22/08/2008 17:52

Thanks for all the good luck wishes!

Still here - but have seen a really lovely midwife who said that I can ask for another day before they make me stay in hospital and stick a drip in my hand. Fingers crossed things won't come to that!

oopsacoconut · 22/08/2008 18:01

CONGRATULATIONS LOW and welcome Waffleboy.
