BabiesEverywhere · 21/08/2008 15:05

We are signed off by the midwife this afternoon

DS is now 10lbs 12ozs at 11 days (birth weight 10 lbs 10oz gained by 5 days) and she said I have done brilliantly breastfeeding him...which makes the night feeds worthwhile

For all the threads breastfeeders if you need help, information or support try HunkerMunker's Breastfeeding Blog HERE.

She also has a list of the FREE breastfeeding counsellor lines on the right hand side of the pages.

miamla · 21/08/2008 15:12

wow! lots of little sisters with great gcse results!! congratulations!! i'm feeling v old, my "little" sister is 26!

poppy theo's a really windy baby too (from both ends). we've started giving him infacol before each feed. not sure if its working yet but he doesn't seem to mind it so we'll stick with it for a bit longer

sazzles waitrose? didn't realise we had ladies of such high class on our thread!

dizzy i know we're tending to have big babies on this thread but really, 19?? lol!

my dp is absolutely amazing. i've had a horrible headache for the last few days, when he got home from work last night he sent me straight to bed. brought up a crying baby for a feed a couple of hours later, kept DS quiet whilst cooking dinner. woke me up to eat and then sent me back to bed and brought DS up at some point in the early hours. in summary, i've had more sleep in the last 18 hours than i had in the previous few days and i'm feeling so much more human today. also, dp and i realised that i'm just not eating enough calories so my energy levels were low. He's made me the biggest bowl of pasta for me to pick at as and when i'm hungry. DS also helped by having 3 or 4 hour breaks between his feeds for the last 18 hours. all in all by boys are brilliant!

i'm now on a strict diet of lots of sweets and chocolate

we've been to the hospital today to get DS's hearing tested and for a physio appt for him. conclusion of both appointments is that he's perfect! we had a physio appt because his little feet were turned in (think its called tallions) due to him not having much room in my tight uterus (physio's words not mine!).

so, is anyone planning on having a baby soon? we haven't had any announcements for ages!

VG sssh don't tell anyone but I'd like another baby too! you keep my secret and I'll keep yours!

ooh and news for first timers... one of the things i was worried about was tearing and needing stitches but you know what, i've had v little discomfort from them and 3 weeks later, it all feels really quite normal again. Now, I have to admit i've not sneaked a peek in the mirror yet but it feels normal!

i'm off to scoff a bowl of pasta now before little man decides that he wants his next feed

dylan asleep on my lap doing that lip smacking thing, very cute

must have fallen asleep as dh taken dd1 to her swim lesson, with dd2 in tow - lord help him

sarah what did mw say? agree with sazz, if you're bleeding that heavily its time to slow down

miamla^ agree with you and VG, I'd LOVE* 4 but dh threatening to leave me

buckets if I wasn't so tired I'd be in the mood myself, stupidly mentioned that to dh who now thinks he's on a promise, maybe thats why he's let me sleep

poppy am over your way to register LO tomorrow, tried to do it today but stroppy mare of registrar wasn't happy with all the drop ins - all 2 of us

TS time not to be so hard on yourself sweetie - having aaby is hard enough either after a long labour or C/S bur after both is bloody hellish - I can't tell you how much better its been this time with elective, dd2 was emcs after a long labour & it was hard to get over. take all the help going & take your time, you know where we are

AnnVan · 21/08/2008 17:05

Hello! It's really good to see so many of our post-natal ladies on today!

Im all lop-sided. Left contact lens fell out, so I'm sitting with one eye squeezed shut so I can see to type really should go upstairs and get afresh pair to put in.

Wow this song takes me back - Shaggy's version of 'in the summer time' Makes me feel so old when I hear these songs that were big in my teens and then realise just how llong ago they were in the charts!

AnnVan · 21/08/2008 17:27

oh no! I'm turning into a serial killer!

longwayfromhome · 21/08/2008 17:36

Thank you all for the support, websites and suggestions. Back from the hospital again today, Tom's blood tests are better again, and we are off to rent a breast pump so I feel like things are improving.

VintageGardenia · 21/08/2008 17:36

Hello, good news today, went to bf clinic and got baby weighed. He has surpassed birth weight of 10lb 12oz and is now 11 lb 5oz! That's at 18 days old so am happy that feeding going well. Nurse said could try expressing milk for bottle now. albs you were going to give bottle for first time I think how did it go?

TS hope you're ok.

Back to catch up on other news later. sarahnh hope mw has seen you and advised, poor you xxx.

PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 17:39

annvan I think you just tend to come on the thread at dcs tea time! Needless to say mine are getting it late this evening.

sarah I second dizzy and sazzles - the copious bleeding is because you are overdoing it - SLOW DOWN!

dizzy lol at your nearly 20lber

Those of you already feeling like having another one - I'll just warn you that that was what I felt like just after having dd. I even posted on MN saying 'if I have another baby at 36 will it kill me' - about to find out aren't I!!

miamla Have to agree with sazzles on the merits of Waitrose

BabiesEverywhere · 21/08/2008 17:48

longwayfromhome, Have you posted on Mumsnet Breast and Bottle board yet ?!?

There is a trained counsellor Tiktok who often posts on there and many mums with good experience ?

Here is the link if you want it here

alittlebitshy · 21/08/2008 18:15

well, I am categorically never having another baby!!!! Hence am trying to enjoy this bit even if i feel awful some days.

VG yes it was me who introduced emb. Well, dh actually. It went well. I was putting dd to bed and could hear ds howling and thought it was all going wrong and he'd never take a bottle of anything, but by the time i got downstairs dh said he'd polished the lot off - the howling was when he couldn't work out what dh was putting near his mouth - but when he tasted milk he was happy.

My left side is still v sore. It is rally getitng me down - i dread that side, and makes me think about giving up - or at leaxt mix feeding. ARGH. By bfc lasy is coming again tonight. I feel like I'm a lost cause though cos if at 4 weeks we're still struggling with one side, how are we going ot get it better?

TwilightSurfer · 21/08/2008 18:39

{{{hugs}}}ALBS you're a trooper with the BF.

One of the only things that's giving me a good feeling right now is the fact I resolved NOT to attempt BF this time. I can only imagine my state had I added that to this crazy mix. After my last post I let DH take the next 3 feeds....heaven. This kid eats more than DD1.

oh my have more to stay but Reese is crying FOR FOOD AGAIN.

AnnVan · 21/08/2008 19:15

Hellooo all

This afternoon I cleaned the fridge - not that it is a germ fest but I went for a nap and when i woke up all I could think was 'I can't put my babies EBM in that fridge it's filthy' so i removed all removeable bits and put them through a hot wash in the dishwasher, scrubbed the inside with boiling water and bleachy soapy water, dried it, sprayed it with dettox left it to dry then added all clean dishwasher fresh bits (which had been dettox'd after washing). Watered veg, hung out 3 loads of washing, fed cats and harrassed DH to take me out for coffee!

LOL at the thought of wanting more babies - I am thinking about number 2 and number 1 isn't here yet. I am using the it took us 5 years to have this one lets think of number 2 now! Chances are we will end up with a 11 month age gap!

Ooooh and I'm contracting every 10 mins or so but relatively painlessly so not getting hopes up.

Sorry for meeeemeeeemeee post will catchup later.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/08/2008 19:30
