Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TwilightSurfer · 21/08/2008 09:08

Seriously I have to say it again... Those of you that had your CSs, and especially those who've had them MORE THAN ONCE, you are amazing! I've got to figure out how you were able to manage.

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 09:09

TS Hi, how are you doing? I think the other ladies who've had CS's have had them before (?most of them) so I guess knew what to expect. It certainly isn't the 'easy option'. I'm terrified of having one!

Ds2 has now gone past the date at which I had dd PLEASE let him come out soon...

TwilightSurfer · 21/08/2008 09:09

Back to bed for me now while I have the chance.

OP posts:
PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 09:10

TS Have you talked it through with your mw? It really is important if you are this upset about the way it went. Hope sazzles and some of the others will be along soon.

BabiesEverywhere · 21/08/2008 09:17

I had't had a previous CS and it is hard having had an operation and very painful.

I am dreading DH going back to work next week. I can't lift anything or drive, so I am stuck in a house in an active toddler and a newborn

cyteen · 21/08/2008 09:24

Morning all

TS hugs to you, please make sure you give yourself ample time to recover both physically and mentally from what is an enormous experience...you've just had major surgery, and following a whole month of latent labour at that. I doubt anyone could have done more to bring their baby into the world. You seem like such an independent person that I'd imagine it will be hard to lie back and accept an increased level of help, but your health and recovery is so important at this time. Also echo what pf says about talking things through with your healthcare team - remember, they are there for you and your needs, and that includes post- as well as ante-natal.

Re. the colposcopy, I think you're right - apparently it's the removal of pre-cancerous cells that can affect the cervix, rather than the initial staining for examination, and since I didn't have any to remove I can't see how it would be a problem.

Sazzles your MIL is a card, isn't she?

lwfh lovely pictures, very joyous

Had a funny night last night, felt rather crampy and achey. Low level backache, some strong cramps across the top of the bump, and some light but definite period-type feelings in the base of it. Could this be a start, I wonder? Nothing actually exciting to report, but perhaps my body is making ready after all.

Also felt really sick all night and still feel quite out of sorts now, but that might just be from overeating yesterday

Anyway, going to take it easy today (like I do anything different the rest of the time!) and just potter about, have a bath, see what happens.

PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 10:29

steady on cyteen nothing to report here apart from I went to the loo about 50 times last night

cyteen · 21/08/2008 10:30

Well, yes, that goes without saying Where does it all come from? I'm a thirsty girl but even I don't drink that much fluid, I'm sure.

miamla · 21/08/2008 10:30

longway i'm by no means a bf expert, still learning myself but i can confirm that there does seem to be enough milk available for a 4hr session. Theo will empty one side, move onto the other one and by the time that one's empty i've had a let down on the original side.

TS please take it easy and accept every ounce of help that you're being offered. You seem pretty stong willed and stubborn like me so i know this is easier said than done but really, i wished i'd done less in the early days now and i didn't even have a cs.

ataraxis · 21/08/2008 10:48

Morning all - hope you are well and happy.

This LO seems to have decided to me a mischeivous third... Monday night i had contractions for an hour and a half - then nothing - same last night (well, 5am - just in time to watch the diving qualifiers ). Spoke to my MW earlier in the week and she said yup, that's third babies - expect some more of it. Ho hum...

LWFH - sorry to hear you are having problems. Please try not to beat yourself up about it, having been there with both boys (needing top ups from around 3 weeks) I have some understanding of how shit it can make you feel. With DS1 I expressed forever in order to ensure that he predominantly had breastmilk - which resulted in me being completely knackered, losing loads of weight (would have been great under other circumstances) and getting less sleep than ever. I have vivid memories of sitting in tears expressing for ages after hour long feeds at 3am...With DS2 I did some expressing as well, but accepted that if formula was required that was just the way it was going to be - so was much more relaxed about it. It is important to recognise that it can be hard and it is not your fault.
I don't know if this helps at all, but please do keep talking about it and try not to let it upset you too much.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling so good TS. It's not exactly surprising after the longest labour in history AND a cs. The only thing I can say which I hope will be some consolation is that both times I've been amazed at how much of an improvement I feel every day. I'm +13 days now and feel back to normal now (although I'm still being super careful about lifting etc - wonderful excuse apart from anything else ). Here's hoping you feel that same!

Bit down here this morning after a rather patchy night, after 3 great ones. I know I should be grateful for the good ones, but got my hopes up we were getting somewhere.

The thing I'm a bit more worried about is that DD2 seems to have the world's biggest wind/colic problem. DD1 was bad, but I assumed it was just because she was on bottles. Not the same now, but whenever she's awake she seems to be in discomfort. She's also doing a lot of looking hungry, sucking for no more than 5-10 mins and then falling asleep for 10-20 mins (waking up immediately if she's moved) and then crying - and so we start again. Any ideas bf sages? I'm winding her loads, checked latch etc. Am we just going to have to live with this?

On a happier note, just spoken to little sister who got 10 x A* for her GCSEs.

Morning all

thanks for putting me on the list TS

Hi Sazzles and dizzydixies - last few weeks of pg going good now i've finally moved house (after a stressful 10 months) - settling in amongst the boxes.

oopsacoconut · 21/08/2008 12:02

Hi All

Was just popping on to brag about my little sister and saw that Poppysocks has just been on to do the same! 6*'s 4 A's and 2 B's then she cried cause she was dissapointed! I wish I had done that well.

TS Please take it easy and remember is is major surgery and you need to let your body heal at it's own speed!

Sazzles - you are doing amazingly well with all DD2's little ups and downs. With mixed feeding - go for it, lots of the girls in our NCT group have resorted to it and are amazed at how they are enjoying the BF more now they are not constantly being sucked on.

Cyteen and PF please not racing - I'm due the same time as you both and all sense of contractions have stopped and left me feeling like it's not going to happen!

oopsacoconut · 21/08/2008 12:03

That should read 6A*'s

PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 12:10

oops and cyteen At least you have some vague sign that something is happening I have a feeling ds2 is never going to bother coming out. Or maybe I'm actually an elephant.

PetitFilou1 · 21/08/2008 12:11

and congrats on the sisters GCSE results (my little sister is 30 so a bit past that stage - but she did get 10 A*s or something at the time if that counts )

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/08/2008 12:27

Hi all.
Nothing much happening here, although had more goo/show this am.
Just been for a bit of a walk and done a pile of ironing.
DH just gone to work but has inflated the pool before he left. Just in case.
Can see that been there a while.

Hope your feeling ok today TS I agree with what everyone says regarding taking one day at a time.
You really have been through the mill this month.
You deserve to give yourself credit for all that.

I take my hat off to all you ladies with the bf I remember how hard I found it, hoping I can do better this time.
I think your all doing amazing.

oopsacoconut · 21/08/2008 12:49

PF it is very strange - there will be the same age difference between my little sister and this baby - I hope they have the same fantastic relationship we had.

No1 hope things get moving for you soon - today I have been to market (ooh I sound like a farmers wife!) collected the pram/carrycot etc. (Dizzy breathe easy - it is in the store at DH's work along with all baby furniture!)scrubbed the inside of the loo, scrubbed the bathroom floor. Can you tell I'm trying to turn a back to back baby?

Well going to make DH some leek and potato soup for lunch and then more bouncying on the ball and crawling around on all 4's.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 21/08/2008 12:51

Cyteen is bouncing on ball meant to help.
I have been doing it regularly but dd keeps trying to shove me off.

poppysocks · 21/08/2008 13:18

Congrats to your sister oops! Was feeling v. old that my little sis was now going in the 6th form (never mind the fact that I now have 2 children) I asked mine what she was doing to celebrate and she said that she'd been told to tidy her bedroom before she could go out with her friends, so maybe not that grown up after all .

Thank you for your thoughts Sazzles. Have been using your tip about the cold flannel for a while. Like her father though, when she wants to sleep, there's little that will stop her. Just need to harness that and send it in the direction of 8pm-8am sleeping .

Have got some infacol now and trying that. So far, feed has gone down and she's in the Moses Basket, so fingers crossed...

Sazzles - don't feel bad about the formula. As oops says, for some people it's the best of both worlds. This has always been our aim, after we fell into it last time and it worked really well for us. Mind you, HV NOT amused by me admitting to giving a top up after the last feed of the evening and in the middle of the night. It's the only time she's calm interestingly .

Keep us posted No1 and cyteen!

Ditto Sazzles, once the basic pain has gone you can get on quite quickly. Yesterday, on 4hrs sleep, I made quiche from scratch, raspberry muffins and jam tarts with the leftover pastry. Then me and Kurt went food shopping after tea. Not sure where my head was at (denial obviously) but I'm pretty chuffed.

Buckets · 21/08/2008 13:42

I'm even thinking about trying sex this weekend - 6 days ago I was crying my eyes out about stitches etc.
