Now I know we are not meant to focus on looks or weight etc as it's a hiding to nothing or whatever the expression is but gosh 10 stone I am very envious! Good for you poppysocks. I have lost a good bit over the last two weeks and while I think I am looking all right (while dressed, obviously!) the scales tell a different story. Ten stone I ain't! That's my target, perhaps ten and a half. I even started hatching plans to weigh myself only immediately after feeding with therefore almost weightless empty breasts...

My tummy is a disaster zone, pure wobble, I more or less have to tuck it in to the top of my jeans. I've been madly using Mama Bee Belly Butter which is meant to miraculously restore pre-preg tone etc, but that may only apply if you actually had pre-preg tone etc...

Well done TS & for getting your pics up so soon! I've been a slobbering mess ever since birth, I can't even get round to charging my phone. Reese looks very sweet and peaceful.

dizzy hope dd has another good day today (or was today strike day??). We don't start back till 1st September here so have a bit of time for uniform shopping still... well a week or so.

pf hope your DH gets over his terrible disease in time for birth! Do doctors get things even worse than ordinary men?

ann hope your tummy feeling better.

CC interesting your littlun doesn't like feeding lying down. Mine does, I think it's his favourite, maybe because that was the way we did it for the first time.

Grizzling sounds... and a seventh cup of coffee gone cold... and six unlistened-to voice messages ... and ten unreplied-to texts... and drifts of dog hair in the corner by the fridge... and the entire Brio range scattered about the sitting room floor... my hair unbrushed for days... I'm sure I had a resolution about being organised, in control and having a regular beauty routine this time round.

My brother is coming over from London at the weekend, goody. And his lovely missus-to-be.

Oh ramble.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/08/2008 11:11

Sorry not caught up with thread.
Just had my show and a huge clear out sorry if TMI

AnnVan · 20/08/2008 11:18

Nooooooooo! WHat are you doing to me No1? We're supposed to be stuck at the end of the list together. Sob.

Loved the ramble VG

Anyone fancy some homemade carrot cake?

VintageGardenia · 20/08/2008 11:22

Oooh No1 sounds promising . Any twinges, as the MILs love to probe?

PetitFilou1 · 20/08/2008 11:26

Quick message before I go to friends for lunch with the dcs (hooray - a break)

VG lol Oh yes doctors do get illness worse than 'ordinary' men. If he has a headache it is possibly meningitis. He had a chesty cough once and thought that he 'might need a chest x ray' I'm afraid I just laughed and told him not to be ridiculous. He has no sympathy when I am ill (I will always remember getting out of bed with a 40C temperature and raging tonsillitis because he couldn't make up dds cereal and manage to feed two dcs breakfast on his own) so I'm afraid the favour is returned

CC I need some prayers please. Dh's paternity leave starts next week whether ds2 is here or not. I will be most cheesed off if he is on leave and I don't NEED him yet.

As for wearing normal clothes. I have three pretty nice bf tops waiting in my wardrobe so I don't have to face trying to fit into normal tops ....... btw has anyone seen new Hotmilk 'the age of allure' underwear. I may be tempted...

PetitFilou1 · 20/08/2008 11:27

no1 Let us know what happens! Baby Derek as my sister charmingly calls ds2 is still firmly in there and showing no sign of coming out.

CaptainCaveman · 20/08/2008 11:32

I will add you to my prayers pf

I am on a mission to find a wii fit package (rrp @ £70) but none in stock anywhere unless you pay about £120 - I'm not that desperate!!....

ps I wouldn't dare weigh myself - it will traumatise me!!

cyteen · 20/08/2008 12:05

Quick question ladies - midwife says the squid is 4/5 engaged, this means he's not very engaged rather than almost completely engaged, right? Can't seem to get a straight answer from any of the so-called useful books and websites.

Everything well otherwise, he's laying on my right hip (like, duh - I could have told her that, I can bloody feel it every time I move) and seems quite comfy. So our race is still progressing at tortoise speed pf.

I'm seeing her again next week when we can talk about a sweep. She was really good about it actually, unlike other MNers whose mws seem positively fascistic about making them have one - she just said how did I feel, I said my body doesn't feel particularly ready to labour just yet so I'd see how things were next week, she agreed that was probably best.

gigglegirl · 20/08/2008 12:08

morning, afternoon, pr whatever time it is...

have had no sleep - imogen slept all day yesterday - woke up about 10pm and has required feeding or holding since! Fine fir her as she sleeps when held but wkes the second she is put down, but i am soo tored it is untrue. house was looking ok yesterday, now have aquadraw in kitchen , jigsaws in living room, 3 DC in various states of fancy dress and the breakfast pots still not done - i don't feel stressed about it - just tired. she is so unlike my other three!! HV came yesterday - was as useful as a chocilate teapot!

Mum taking kids to the library this afternoon so if Imogen obliges might get an hours kip then!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/08/2008 12:22

3 mw just been as I was due a check today anyway.
Could hardly feel baby head so very far down.
Had couple of toilet runs IYKWIM.
Few twinges but mw just done a homme water birth over night so is shattered and gone home to try and get some rest.
Feel very strange tingling in hip/pelvis joints etc...lots of tightenings too
Def had my show too.
Dh going to work in a bit, but he is getting pool down and ready before he goes so all my helpers have to do is fill it.
Will keep you informed, dd just waking up.

SORRY AnnVan

KnockOffNorbert · 20/08/2008 12:23

Hello hello, think I am in labour! Had 1/2 a show this morning at 9am, went shopping (and DS got his first hair cut ) so been walking (paranoid of waters breaking though!) and been having 'gentle' contractions since 9am, got back and had another big chunk of show (definatly is this time, was bloody etc.) and pretty regular-ish (dunno time wise, but they aren't easing off for hours at a time or anything - maybe 3-4 an hour?) pains that are getting more intense. Eeek! I told DH we better not risk baked potatoes for lunch as they take soooo long, but they are (slowly) baking away so hoping nothing too major happens in the next few hours so I can have some lunch! Dunno when to ring, don't want them to say come in now [hungry]. Err, lost train of thought now - better go get my TENS machine, sitting on hard chair making them worse. Much love, hope you're all ok {{hugs}} xxx

If anyone knows BTW, can you use Bachs rescue stuff in labour? I got a spray and the sweets in town this morning, dunno if 1) you can 2) they are useful at all.

xxxxx

KnockOffNorbert · 20/08/2008 12:26

4/5 engaged is good - means 4/5 engaged, it's sometimes they write 4/5 palapable (or something like that) that means 1/5 engaged. So 4/5 engaged is 1/5 palpable... Does that make sense?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 20/08/2008 12:27

good luck Knockoffnorbert
Looks like we doing it together.
About your tens machine which do you have?

I have the femme but lost instructions.
Forgot where abouts on back to position it.

cyteen · 20/08/2008 12:28

Yes, cheers KnockOff - very good of you to answer when you're in labour! Looking at my notes she's just written 4/5 with an arrow pointing up, so not sure which she means...I'd hazard a guess at 'not very engaged' rather than 'almost there', but hope springs eternal.

Good luck to you and no1! It's exciting

alittlebitshy · 20/08/2008 12:30

Love the pics ts giggle argh - poor tired you

Wehad another good night. Henry went to sleep about half 9, and we were clever enoug to go to bed then rather than assuming there would be more feeding. He slept til after 2.30, had a feed, dozed for half an hour had another feed then slept from 4.30 til after 7.30. I think the sleep debt is trying to be reclaimed though cos even after 7-8 hours sleep (tho broken) I feel so tiiiiired.

Dh tried him on ebm and he took it. Yay. I think he was a bit confused at first but whenhe realised it was milk he was happy and guzzled it. Wanted a feed form me soon fter though - but i think we didn't do enough ebm - only 3oz. SOmeone i spoke to reckons 5oz... ...?? The bottle feed meant I was ablt to put dd to bed for the second time since Henry was born, and we had time for 4 stories so she was happy. Planing on Sat for dh to give another bottle ebm in the day time and I will take dd out for ice cream and a walk or something - just the 2 of us.

My back really aches. I think it's my sling. Either i'm not doing it right, or henry is too heavy or soething..... argh. he doesn't love it either. He thinks he's about 4 months old cos he hates his head being tucked in and wants his hands out. gaaah.

Anyone else eating waaaay too much chocolate????

Hmm - must weigh myself again. I was a stone down from when the day before H was born when he was a week old, so I must surely have lost more by now. Not tried my old clothes for a bit - am maninly in matty tracksuit bottoms or a pair of size 16 (am usually 14) trousers i bought in anticipation of post partum tuimmy issues. Thing is it's more my bum - i think everything i ate in the pregnancy is sat in my bum .

KnockOffNorbert · 20/08/2008 12:31

Elle something? It's purple. Dh is getting it from car now Kept meaning to practise putting it on but...

I got a 4/5 with an arrow poiting upwards also, no idea what that means? 2 odd weks before I was 4/5 engaged though so probably 4/5 engaged but 4 and a bit ? Or 4/5 but baby is going back up abit? I guess around 4/5ths engaged

KnockOffNorbert · 20/08/2008 12:32

oooh, you too No1 - good luck

cheerfulvicky · 20/08/2008 12:39

Hurrah Knockoff, sounds like things are happening for you. I've heard rescue remedy can be used in labour and is useful, may as well give it a go. I have some in my hospital bag anyway

gigglegirl · 20/08/2008 12:42

albs* sadly my scales battery have worn out so can't weigh myself when i can finally get out to the shops will find out the horrific truth!

Am impressed with all you that are managing to express as well as feed - something I have never really managed this early on as my babies feed all the time and my energy is totally zapped. Plus if I uncreased my supply anymore Imogen would drown in a fountain of breastmilk!

Yes I am eating way to much chocolate - I am talking ridiculous amounts, large bags and bars at a time and whilst usually I may have a little bit in the vening bow I think I am eating it all day - oh well - I amim to go back to WW after 6 week check so it won't last long! Have actually run out today so will have to go cold turkey!

Am so tored am actually cotemplating lying down on living room floor and sleeping whilst kids run riot!

knockoff bach flower remedy is fine in labour - good luck

Sazzles 40ml. Reese is already putting away 25 to 35ml every two hours. UNREAL don't you think! Glad I decided to FF. I'm not the least bit stressed or exhausted. A GOOD THING as I feel like I've played with a chainsaw recently.

Good luck to No1 & Knockoff. I hope things move quicker for you than me. My show and contractions starte A MONTH before my "real" labour started.

Giggle, I'll be laying on the floor soon while the kids run riot. Will send you telepathy messages.

Captain, DS2 looks like a future palace guard. He's got THE LOOK I always see them with.

Just ordered lunch (because it's free), waiting for Reese's doc to get her release. Got mine two hours ago. Can't wait to get home. MIL is exhausted. DD1 happily playing but down about her missing mommy. Have to stop and get her Barbie Jeep on the way home. Need a few other odds and ends too but WILL NOT be getting out of the truck. Kinda walking funny at the moment.....oh that's right I was playing with a chainsaw.

cyteen 4/5 means not very far in. Funny you should say your body feels like it is not ready to labour - I feel the same. But dh pointed out that I do tend to go from 0-60 in not very long. Maybe you are the same? Anyway, our race is a bit boring to watch at the moment. So everyone please watch knockoff and no1 please!

sazzles What you are getting out from expressing is not an indication of what is actually available iyswim - I think the wisdom is that the baby is able to get more suckling that you can via expressing (I think)

albs which sling do you have? Shouldn't be making your back ache. I have a weak back and can usually manage my starting at nearly 9lbers until they are 3 months. Is it a wrap one? Can you change the tying?

AnnVan · 20/08/2008 17:55

Hello all. It's quiet on here today isn't it?

I fell asleep so I guess I won't be getting any sleep tonight. Ah well, at least I feel human right now
