Quiet round here tonight, innit? You'd think everyone was off having babies.

Anyway, have just taken a chocolate orange cake out of the oven so feel mightily cheered up. Fancy a slice?

Shazza2002 · 16/08/2008 18:31

Evening ladies

Congratulations to new arrivals. FHLH I thought my labour was good going in 5 hours but yours was just super quick. Nice weight too, where are these big babies coming from???

The problem I have is when I tell people she was 9lb 9oz and they ask about pain relief stitches etc.. when I say just gas and air but no stitches, the women almost cross their legs there and then and then and you can almost see the men thinking fat fanny

Well so far Lexie is prooving to be a dream, I knows it early days but compared to DD1 1st week at home it's such a difference. She's feeding really well and I'm managing to get some sleep. Feel a bit tearful today buts that's hormones as apposed to me feeling down. I'm sure I'll be on here next week ripping my hair out but at the moment things are just great

Labour vibes to those still waiting xx

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 18:51

Hello cyteen
I made a ginger cake earlier - so I'll swap you a bit.
Completely sodding worn out tonight - dh has spent all day sorting out the garden and not spent any time with the dcs. Looking forward to my sister visiting tomorrow and him being free to spend time with them.
We're still racing then I can't go into labour tonight as I'm too knackered to cope with it!

cyteen · 16/08/2008 18:53

lol, me neither as I am snotting for England. We'd both better keep our strength up just to be on the safe side.

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 19:00

Yes, tonight is definitely a case of needing to go to bed early

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2008 19:01

Evenin' All

FHLH Congratulations and welcome Lara

Finally finished working I am too fat and heavy for a 12.5 hour day - it made bubs drop down my front even more - her bum is in line with my bellybutton

PF and Cyteen - please no mention of racing - I'm due the same time as you and am too tired to think about it - she made early escape attempts but now seems settled in for the duration. Maybe she will pop out in my sleep .

Best go find a takeaway menu dinner for DH. then a long soak in a warm bath and bed.

Have chocolate sponge with chocolate mousse and cream filling left over if anyone wants some?

bohemianbint · 16/08/2008 19:08

Hello everyone.

Full moon tonight, isn't it? Will be interesting to see if there's a glut of babies this evening...

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2008 19:10

No BB we're all too tired, well maybe TS would be up for it?

longwayfromhome · 16/08/2008 19:25

Tomás Agustín was born at 9.30 pm on Wednesday 13th August weighing 4.875 Kg. Am shattered. Babies are quite hard work I think so far, but sending thoughts and prayers to all.

Sibh · 16/08/2008 19:32

Fantastic news Longway and another really fabulous name. We needed another boy to start to even things up! Take care.

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2008 19:47

Just converted the 4.875kgs to lbs - 10lbs 7oz.... another biggie!

cheerfulvicky · 16/08/2008 20:00

Welcome to Lara and Tomas! What beautiful names we have on this thread... Didn't know it was a full moon, maybe there'll be a rush on now

I'm in denial about my due date being Monday but I'll have the odd twinge and its funny how I suddenly become incredibly excited/impatient/scared witless/daft. To be honest, although I feel big and uncomfortable, I thought I'd be moaning more by now and dead keen for him to arrive, but I'm coasting along nicely and not tearing my hair out. Denial, I tell you.
Hope everyone is well. (Passes savoy cabbage leaves to those with painful norks...)

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 20:03

congratulations to Longwayfromhome
What a biggie.
Please could I have some chocolate orange cake, and some ginger cake oh and chocolate cake with the mousse please.

Not really hungry just need some comfort food.
Feel like a really bad mum this week, what with dd falling out of bed the other night.
Guess what happened tonight....

She held her breath fell over banged her face and passed out.
Was awful lips went blue and went all floppy in my arms. Total panic.
Luckily dh had not gone to work yet so grabbed her and jiggled her about a bit till she came round.
(I just didnt know what to do)

She did this a few months ago but fell in a shop and really banged her head.

Dh said she was holding her breath cos I took something off her.
Kids they worry you to death.
She ok now fast asleep in bed.

poppysocks · 16/08/2008 20:04

Congratulations LWFH and FHLH. Lovely news and lovely big babies. Feeling mine's a tiddler! She's regained her birth weight now though (and a little bit extra) so she might match yours in..oh...about another 6 weeks!

Shazza - that's exactly how I feel. SO much easier than last time and the feeding seems to be working. It's just dealing with the toddler that's adding the spice .

Have had a bit of a hormone crash today and scar's hurting more today, but starting taking the painkillers again after a stern word from the mw that I wouldn't be taking nothing a week after any other major surgery. DH still being wonderful and starting to panic about his return to work.

Sorry, will stop burbling now. Have a good evening everyone and hope you end it with a baby, TS!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 20:06

Cheerful I was in complete denial with my first even when in labour.
My mum came round to see me and was flapping like mad. Phone your dh she said get him home from work.
You really should be going in now. Do you realize your actually going to have the baby today.
between contractions I kept saying no not due for another 3 days mum Im fine.

But this time I have had enough.

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2008 20:11

No1 I looked after a boy who used to do this - it was a protest reaction, the best way to deal with it is to blow hard in her face (sort of up her nose!) her instinct will be to breathe in, breath holding will do little harm to her as when she passes out she will automatically start breathing again. (no comfort to you though as it is VERy scary to witness). If you give her a HUGE reaction she will keep doing to to get attention. Hopefully it is just a short lived reaction to becoming a big sister.

oopsacoconut · 16/08/2008 20:12

forgot the 'soon' at the end of the last sentance!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 20:20

Really i didnt know they could do it voluntarily (sp?)
I thought she hurt herself and passed out. But dh said He was adamant she was about to cry and was doing that wide open mouth with no noise coming out thing IYKWIM and then threw herself on floor in a tantrum.
But as I was holding her hand leading her away from the mischief she was in I couldnt see her face.

But I will remember not to make a fuss next time if she does it in a tantrum.
Thanks

CaptainCaveman · 16/08/2008 20:51

Arrrgghhh, so many messages I just can't keep up! Been a busy few days but popping in to give a progress report:

All well in the CC household, I am feeling much brighter and well. Oliver is doing well and when he was weighed at 12 days old (last wed) he was 6lb 13oz so only 1oz off his birth weight. Feeding (praise God) continues to go well - very much demand feeding so all over the place really but this is ok.

congrats to all who have given birth since I last posted (?when was that statto (TS)). Eeeek, the days just go so quickly.
On skim reading there are some beautiful names chosen - congrats .

CaptainCaveman · 16/08/2008 20:52

ps. Did you miss me?

CaptainCaveman · 16/08/2008 20:59

Oh and we had a day out yesterday to Drayton Manor Park. We were out of the house for 9am

cyteen · 16/08/2008 21:35

Congratulations lwfh, lovely name and a lovely big boy

no1 here, have some extra cake, sounds like you need it after that scare. Is it possible your DD's had reflex anoxic seizures? It sounds scary and from what I understand is scary to witness, but it's not harmful. Might be worth getting her checked over by the doctor just to be on the safe side anyway, if you're worried
