OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 07:45

btw dizzy I had a friend in London who went back to a size 6 within about a week, both times She is half Chinese though so naturally very slim. She had quite big babies though!

AnnVan · 16/08/2008 07:53

Thanks PF! I don't think I will prove you wrong though. DP wouldn't be best pleased

BabiesEverywhere · 16/08/2008 08:01

pertelote, Not pooing in a newborn breastfed baby is a reason for concern, please contact your midwife/health visitor or GP straight away for advice.

petitfilou, You are right that not pooing for a few days or even a week in an older breastfed baby is not a reason for concern, but in little ones our babies ages it could be a sign of poor milk transfer or other things and must be checked out.

HTH

Sibh · 16/08/2008 08:01

Sazzles- your posts were a great comfort to me in the middle of the night as DD2, 12 hours younger than Emma I think, is behaving in exactly the same way. I can only do the rugby thing properly on the left hand side too, though it did really help with the engorgement. She won't open her mouth to latch properly and keeps trying to stick her fingers in her mouth at the same time as latching on which is a total pain. Discreet feeding doesn't really work when you're using your bosom to bat small hands out of the way ...

Congrats on your due date TSI had strong dreams about going into labour 48 hours before DD arrived. Hope things take their course quickly Norbert11 days over is beyond the call of duty.

Tea and toast for all here. (It's so lovely to have you all to chat to ...)

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 08:15

Babieseverywhere No problem, I'm not an expert just trying to remember but it was 3 years ago the last time I did it....

Sibh I used to tuck their arm under my arm so they couldn't fiddle - but hard to explain over the internet!

AnnVan · 16/08/2008 08:26

norbert - shouldn't they be inducing soon? as far as I've been told, they only let you get to 12 days over beore inducing.

sibh - thanks for the tea.

Been horribly sick this morning. Maybe cos of all the horrible acid? Wok up about 3am and haven't been able to get back to sleep.

BabiesEverywhere · 16/08/2008 08:31

petitfilou, I'm no expert either, but it is great we have this thread so we can all share information

cyteen · 16/08/2008 08:31

Bleurgh. Morning all. Today I am having a moan because my cold is in full flower and I feel like crap Woke up at 4.30am and couldn't get back to sleep - legs hurt, back hurts, face hurts as it fills up with snot. Between being coldy and being so enormous I just can't get comfy anywhere, in any position. Plus I feel too woozy in the head to do anything interesting, but too awake to not be bored.

It doesn't help (apart from being reassuring) that the baby has been crazily active since about 6pm last night - he's really going mad in there, nonstop kicking and wriggling action. Because he's so big now it's quite uncomfortable having him tearing about inside me. If he's so ready to come out why doesn't he just get on with it?

Sorry I know it's minor in the grand scheme of things, will shut myself up with a nice cup of tea.

I did enjoy watching Rebecca Adlington on Olympic Breakfast earlier though - I even shed a tear, what an amazing race, she totally destroyed the field and the world record. Well done that girl

Sibh I've been having labour dreams for the last two nights I wonder if this is a sign? It's the only one I've had, if so.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 09:12

Morning all. Sorry to here some of you had rough nights.
It is getting frustrating and uncomfortable now isnt it.

AnnVan the acid is terrible isnt it, mine seems to be a lot worse this week. Have to pop rennies everytime I eat something.

Have a really horrid matallic taste too everytime I eat or drink, whats that all about then???

I have another reflexology session today so hoping it will make me feel better.

Off to peel some carrots now

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 09:13

oops metallic

AnnVan · 16/08/2008 09:29

no1 - I've lost count of how many bottles of gaviscon I've used now I seem to be getting through about 1 a week.

I now have tobake a cake on short notice. Dont know what cake to do. DOn't have any recipes. Haven't made a cake in yonks.

Cyteen - I'd pass you a lemsip, but Im not sure if we're allowed these?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/08/2008 09:39

ooh carrot cake is my favourite.mmmmm....

pertelote · 16/08/2008 09:41

Thanks guys - have spoken to the midwife and she says not to worry just yet - all the other signs confirm that Marianne is healthy and getting enough to eat. So we will settle down for a weekend of feeding feeding feeding and await developments...

cyteen · 16/08/2008 09:46

pertelote two of my NCT friends reported that their bf babies hardly pooed at all over the first 6-8 days or so...one even took her son to A&E on the advice of NHS Direct, only to discover that (of course!) he'd done an enormous crap by the time they got there I agree it's best to seek professional advice but it seems a more common problem than I would have expected.

Buckets · 16/08/2008 10:16

Always ask on Mumsnet before NHS Direct!

I'm off to go sit in the car and see if I'm comfortable enough to drive yet. Might not be sane enough through sleep deprivation but if the arse is ok, that's good enough for me. Oh and does anyone know if it's illegal to drive without a driver's side wing mirror? Some fecker's knocked ours off completely.

Kurt is now 13 days old and on Thurs he got weighed and was 7oz over his birthweight! He also impressed the HV by sucking his thumb, like a proper child with finger on nose and muslin clutched in the fist.

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 10:19

pertelote Be prepared for a fully up the back, all over the vest and possibly even on the neck one!

AnnVan · 16/08/2008 10:19

ouch being uncomortably poked in fanjo!

AnnVan · 16/08/2008 10:20

my mum is emailing me a carrot cake recipe

iliketosleep · 16/08/2008 10:58

Happy Due Date TS

Was sure I woke up crampy last night but fell back to sleep and woke with nowt so must have been half dreaming!!

Just let me get through tonight!!

KnockOffNorbert · 16/08/2008 11:21

Sorry about your cold Cyteen - I can't imagine how horrid it must be to have a cold and be pregnant. I think your still allowed Lemsip (I took it anyway) as usually it's just paracetamol. Or have hot ribena & sugar. {{hugs}}

No1 - I have bad acid alot too , DH resorted to buying jumbo packs of rennie so I can have them in the car, handbag, kitchen... lol.

Ann - more than likely being induced on Tuesday (after BH weekend ). That's when i'll see consultant and I doubt at that stage (40 + 12) they will bother with a sweep etc. as it's getting short on time.

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 11:49

Nope, lemsip not allowed as it has decongestant in it. But doubt you caused yourself much harm knockoff if it was just once or twice

PetitFilou1 · 16/08/2008 11:51

Dh taking the shed down today to make way for fancy wooden climbing frame - dcs not appreciating lack of going out/daddy time. Has to be done though. I've just spent a while making a ginger cake ann if I'd had time I'd have emailed you! Nigella's book is failsafe...

FoghornLeghorn · 16/08/2008 12:35
