VG my thoughts too on the postnatal thread. Can't see any reasons for admin skills. Also I'm surprised and I guess still very ignorant about BF..I thought if you BFed you wouldn't get engorged. So you get that way no matter what?

Woke at 6 contracting again. I'm just trying to relax now as things have died down AGAIN. They are stronger now so considering that a good sign.

TS She will not be coming back - I just don't need the stress. Please stop teasing us with your contractions - you have just cried wolf too often (hopefully if we ignore your contractions things will happen)

Hi all, starting to perk up at last here, have made carrot muffins this morning and some tomato bread is in the breadmachine! Hoping bum will feel well enough to drive by the weekend. Had the real blues and confidence crisis midweek about my mutilated bits, aches and pains but made DH sleep in our bed to prove he still loved me LOL, and we went out for first family walk to park yesterday.

Ladies, get some breastshells for the engorged times! As both my boobs produce milk during a feed, a breastshell certainly beats a precariously balanced coffee mug and if you've sterilised the shell first, you can freeze the collected milk for emergencies. Otherwise, collecting and dumping really takes the pressure off.
Mine are now filling and emptying nicely, if I've forgotten which side to use I can tell by squidging them! Not sure how to tell if one is too empty though, seems to be enough there for an hour or so of feeding and faffing.

oops I agree with TS, I would have told that lady what I thought and said that she could be more understanding seeing as you are 39 weeks pregnant and given you more notice that she didn't intend to turn up. I'd be fuming...

TS Quite common to get engorged in the early stages of bf. Boobs get massive and sometimes if the baby doesn't drain them properly you get a blocked duct - can be very sore and you can even get mastitis (which I'm fortunate never to have experienced so far). I always massaged the blocked ducts away while wincing in pain...

I agree with you both, pn thread doesn't need administering.

buckets TMI alert but I used to squeeze my nipple and if anything even a few drops came out then I carried on feeding. Eventually you do get nothing when you do that!

Oops DH feels just like you about my contractions. I told him to be prepared NOT to return to work on Monday and he said "WHATEVER....call me when your water breaks." I'm not liking what's been happening with me either but I can't get a break from myself.

Buckets and PF....I think there should be an entire semester on BOOBS at some point in a females lifetime. I can't believe how little I know about them and what they "do".

Has anyone else's baby got nursing blisters on their lips? Apparently it's perfectly normal and harmless and goes away but it's quite shocking if you've never seen it before. I tried lying down to feed Kurt yesterday and the whole of his bottom lip swelled up!

VG any migrainey symptoms to the headache? I tend to get those after a stressful time, will probably get a whole cluster of them as soon as things settle down here.

Sazzles - yes they do do cherry bomb in small size - they stop at a F cup. My giant nursing tents are as fantastic 38 G/H or 36H/I am sure I will smother this bubs they are sure to be bigger than her head!

CAKES all round - It's a busy day tomorrow at the auction so have over cooked. or at least that's my excuse not that we need nore cake in our house!

TS re boobs, what pf said. I had a blocked duct (maybe more than one?) it was absolute aggers & I spent ages in the bath day after day massaging it with almond oil trying to ease it out. It actually feels as if your boobs have corners believe it or not, as if they're stuffed with small bricks. But settled down now.

Buckets I don't have nausea but do have movement & light sensitivity which I used to get with migraines, haven't had one in about eighteen months or two years.

I lie down to feed younger DS quite a lot, side by side, it's quite a nice position I find, except that he does seem to leak milk that way! He has a sucky blister in the middle of his top lip, not his bottom one I don't think.

ts i've never been engorged with either ds or with dd (so far) it doesn't happen as long as you demand feed because then all the milk you produce is being used up and made accordingly.

Anyone bfing or bottle feeding the best thing for engrogement is a savoy cabbage leaf. put in the fridge until cool (don't freeze) then break the stem, by bending it backwards and placing inside your bra, the enzymes produced when the stem i broken has painkilling elements to it.

Bealcain I was totally amazed at how well the cabbage leaf thing worked last time. I was miserable. Afterwards I felt more normal but only slightly stinky....cabbage doesn't smell good to me. So AMAZING point to newbies. Go get a head of cabbage NOW!!! You will need it no matter what.

LOL bealcain I think it might be a family word! It means agony. To us anyway!

I had reusable freezy gel pad things which I shoved in my bra, they were bliss for about 5 mins then later when I took them out they were boiling from my body temp!

I remember bags of ice in my pants and cabbage leaves in my bra. Such a sexy picture don't you think. BUT IT WORKED!!

bealcain You do get blocked ducts even when you demand feed - I'm proof! But with ds I was taking him off the boob too early as I thought 'he must have finished by now' after an hours feed (he was probably asleep quite a lot). I learnt my lesson with dd and kept waking her up and putting her back on until I was absolutely sure it was empty.

Sazzles The cherry bomb bra is lovely and there is another new style out which I like the look of. It is on the big side across the back. The matching knickers are small - especially for someone with an ahem rounded bottom like mine. I have never had to buy extra large before felt quite put out.

TS I agree with you about boobs and female biology generally. When I read Toni Wechsler's book 'taking charge of your fertility' (well bits of it) it was like a relevation! I never even got a 'talk' from my mum so all I ever knew was from a couple of school biology lessons!

Sazz I've got the Cherry Bomb bra in 36DD and it is lovely and comfy (as well as bringing that glamour to night time feeds, of course ). It is generous in the back but still fits well.

Have just been asleep for 3 hours - I'm really starting to dig these afternoon naps. Feel a little better but still like I could fall straight back asleep again...my face and neck ache, hope I'm not going to wake up full of snot tomorrow. Just kicking back on the sofa watching the women's gymnastics. Anyone up for a spot of beam work?

Bigboy started a new thread on wanting another DC so close to just giving birth. She didn't give too many details BUT she's had the baby and it's a boy.

Hi all, hope you are all ok.
I am feeling sorry for myself today so wasnt going to post.
Dont know why just feel very tearful and fed up.
Think I need a good cry, but wont happen.

DD woke up early hours in morning so as dh was on nights I brought her in with me. For the first time she agreed (usually hates it likes her own bed)

However...... I woke up to a bang. poor little thing fell out of bed, I have never shifted so fast. didnt think I could.
Bless her she never woke up, just moaned a little.
So didnt sleep much from then on.
Felt awful all day.
