Congratulations Sibh, how wonderful

Good morning to all. I'd advise you to keep your distance from me today as I have inevitably contracted DP's horrible cold Woke up feeling like I'd swallowed a box of pins, and am now ensconced on the sofa with my boycat draped over me in proprietary fashion. I was meant to be meeting up with all the NCT girls and their littlies today but will have to cancel as I don't want them getting it too - judging by DP's experience I'm in for a full-on festival of snot, fever, shivering and coughing.

Also had a miserable anxiety dream last night. I went into labour, went to hospital, everything stopped, they sent me home, someone tried to force his way into the house, then when I went back to hospital the next morning I was casually told to come back the next day for a caesarian and oh, by the way, your baby has a genetic disorder Between that and the cold I'm feeling officially fed up today!

Anyway, moan over. Hope you're all having better days. And for those of you adjusting to life with 3, check this out - someone I 'know' via another board has got 5 under 6 and has recently found out she's expecting her second set of twins

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 08:53

TS I love it when someone else sets the table out with breakfast - properly.

Sibh Congratulations - a 7lber would seem small to me too!

chacha Its ok you can get out of the corner now I don't think the first timers mind us warning them of some of the things they may need to expect!

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 08:56

cyteen If she's already got 5 under 6 she probably won't even notice the difference as she is clearly a Mother Earth Type

Hope you feel better - Olbas oil inhaler thingy is very good

ataraxis · 15/08/2008 09:01

Congratulations sibh!

Yum, thanks TS, what a breakfast spread!

Is it normal to have suddenly this morning thought "oh shit, what am i doing having another baby"?! Think the reality of sleepless nights (again) and babyness is setting in...

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 09:05

ataraxis I have been thinking that for a while

ataraxis · 15/08/2008 09:05

cyteen - she already has 5 under 6 so will now have 7???!!

ataraxis · 15/08/2008 09:07

pf - glad I'm not the only one .

dancerandprancer · 15/08/2008 09:11

Thought I was going to queue jump yesterday. Had to go in to hospital to check if I had a slow water leak, but apparently not. So back to waiting again.

Congratulations to all the new babies, mums dads and families.

bealcain · 15/08/2008 09:46

congrats sibh

is there any of that breakfast buffet left i'm famished!

oopsacoconut · 15/08/2008 09:47

COngratulations SIBH

Well have been up since 5 am so decided to get a move on baking for the shop tomorrow. Burgers made, 2 vitoria sponges, 2 lots of chocolate tiffin, smarties cookies and apple turnovers cooling before filling with cream! And now the girl covering for me just texted ( not even decent enough to ring) to say could she give tomorrow a miss as her and her Dh fancy a trip to the beach in the morning - now I have to work a 12 hour day on my feet smiling at customers! When I texted to say she confirmed on Tuesday she would be here - she said well she is allowed to change her mind as the kids are with her ex and why can't she do as she pleases to say I am pi$$ed off.

Sorry for the rant - DH just offered to take me out for breakfast - won't tell him about TS's offerings.

KnockOffNorbert · 15/08/2008 09:58

Morning everyone! Congratulations Sibh , we are 12 vs. 12 now!

Axataris - I am shitting myself here! I think how much I moan when DS doesn't sleep a full 12 hours... back to 20 mins of sleep now though! I will be praying for the baby to sleep as long as DS!

Totally mad this end, am booked in (properly - 2mp ) for my sweep and was told that infact 'my' hospital (Frimley) wasn't accepting anyone 'out of area' (technically I am, but it's just >>>> there!) and to choose another. I am caught in a spin as whether to cancel my sweep so I can claim ignorance if I go into spontanious labour and turn up at Frimley (I wasn't told about this before today), keep the sweep appointment and side track the hospital issue hoping that I go into labour after the swep and turn up at Frimley, or go for the sweep and risk being booked in for induction (so no room to change!) somewhere else. The problem is, Heatherwood where I am having the sweep is MW led, and shrinking - they won't even do inductions past 7th Sept, unsure if I can have epidural etc. either. If it gets complicated you have to go by ambulance to Wexham, a good 20 mins away (unless maybe they have sirens?). Then I have Royal Berks... can't see a problem really with it except it's massive and unsure how good the maternity unit is. It did get the 2nd best rating after Frimley in that recent survery thingy. Chertsey was another choice, but that seems pretty bad. I can't believe this is all happening @ 40 +7! They must have had a sudden influx after they scored really high in that birth survey... Praying I go into labour before 2pm now!

Knockoff I feel flustered just reading your post!

I think at this stage I would keep the sweep appointment and wing it from there. Of course the ambulances have sirens!! (and blue flashing lights too!) You won't be able to have an epidural at a birth centre (I assume that is what Heatherwood is) though.

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 10:18

sazzles dd always preferred my left boob - never realised why. I was told to try rugby hold to persuade her that right boob was in fact left one but I never got on with that technique! Hope it gets better...

KnockOffNorbert · 15/08/2008 10:29

It's part of a normal -ish hospital (but no A & E anymore) so am unsure on the epidural front - but if they don't there is no way I am going there! I am hoping I won't need it, but I think i'll panic if I am constantly thinking I can't have it. Definatly be 'winging it' unless I am booked in for induction, but been reading about Royal Berks and apparently last year around this time they were sending people away also, because they were over run with people who were turned away from Wexham ! I can see me driving in circles all day when it happens!

VintageGardenia · 15/08/2008 11:17

Welcome Lexie, Tess and Eibhlin sorry can't do a fada for you Sibh. What elegant names for our sudden flurry of girls!

Sazzles I had that for about four days, I did try the rugby hold thing and though neither of us found it particularly comfortable it did help to drain the breast and seemed to pull it into a better shape (weirdly). After that the feeding was ok both sides, and has remained fine. God the engorged days were blardy awful though. I felt like Jordan, and they were so hard when elder DS came at me for a hug he actually bounced off me! It was agony for me and confusing for the rebounding ten year old!

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 11:26

knockoff If part of a hospital, with doctors in the building and maternity unit, don't see why they wouldn't do an epidural??? Absence of A&E isn't really relevant I don't think. Why don't you phone your mw and find out - it would put your mind at rest at least

AnnVan · 15/08/2008 11:30

Good morning all!
cyteen - here have a paracetamol! And a nice cup of tea.

Well I managed some sleep again! From about 3 this am. Just slept on the sofa, cos I didnt actually think I was going to fall asleep so I didn't want to wake DP up.

Sazzles - nothingdoing here now. Managed to make DP's boss panic though - they're trying to catch up on all the accounts and have a strict deadline - they're very nearly there, so I I were to go into labour before end of next week they'd have a reall problem hehe!

VintageGardenia · 15/08/2008 11:44

Surely our post-natal thread won't need any kind of administration?

I've had a lousy headache since Monday. Any bright ideas?

VintageGardenia · 15/08/2008 11:44

Glad you slept Ann!

ataraxis · 15/08/2008 11:44

Hooray, hooray, maternity leave starts today!!!

oopsacoconut · 15/08/2008 11:47

Sazzles - I run a coffee shoppy thingy at DH's auction house premises - nothing posh just tea, cakes, bacon sarnies, bugers biccies and the like. It's usually lost of fun but at 39 weeks I was hoping for a week off!

Annvan - Will keep up the positive sleep vibes for you.

PetitFilou1 · 15/08/2008 11:50

VG Drink more - the bf is sucking the life out of you! Otherwise just hormones adjusting???

VintageGardenia · 15/08/2008 11:55

I am drinking as much as I can but still thirsty ALL the time so maybe that's it, just not enough. In other news this hour, bodily bits are pretty ok, is just the killing head that's the prob.

OH and ladies I am wearing Cherry Bomb and v pretty AND practical it is too! I'll top it off with yellow mac later for full thread uniform!
