Miamla are you poking fun at our lanky American basketballers. Honestly I think most of the athletes look a bit odd...except for the male swimmers. mmmmmmm mmmmmm

annvan Internet shopping is the answer - no need whatsoever to brave Bluewater - especially not when this pregnant! I get almost everything on the net. The postman just grins at me when he delivers yet another parcel...

TS Glad you are hanging on and not being induced at the moment - I feel it in my bones that that is the right decision

TwilightSurfer · 11/08/2008 19:15

PF, ME TOO! I'm kinda proud of my abilities naturally.

Good luck for tomorrow Sazzles. That sounds like a good plan for DD and you'll really be able to enjoy her visit.

Sorry everyone is feeling low today. I had contractions on and off until about midday and now I'm just stuck with period pain, the scratchy needle fanjo stuff and a general urge to hide under the duvet for a week.

Also, I had MIL on the phone asking in a greedy kind of way if I had 'Any twinges?' Is it me or is that a particularly yucky way of asking for news? She then ended the call by stopping herself halfway through saying 'it was good to talk to you.' She must have remembered that FIL-known around here as Osama Doom Laden-has officially decreed me unlikeable. A bit sad that practically the only two people I've ever not been able to get on with easily are the ILS.

Ooh, a contraction. Bet its only a Branston Pickle though

When I told DS that it didn't look like Smidge would come today after all he said, 'Well, he must have gone back up to the top to put something else in his suitcase.' He genuinely thinks I'm going to give birth to a baby, a suitcase, a small playmobil pirate set and a shaun the sheep soft toy which makes my fanjo sound like the equivalent of the generation game conveyor belt. This would be the child everyone recommends for an IQ test ... [hmmm]

Congratulations to everyone at the top of the list and good luck to those approaching it. Must say I am getting a bit nervous as the number of people ahead of me seem to be reducing. That means I really will be having another baby.

TwilightSurfer · 11/08/2008 19:46

SIBH I love what your DS thinks!! That's great. Birthing a fully decked out kid with all the gear. LOVE IT

Ladies have you all packed one of these to maintain your dignity and having a mess free birth.

oopsacoconut · 11/08/2008 20:07

it's meant to say 'for those having a mess free birth' blah brain

PetitFilou1 · 11/08/2008 20:13

oops You are a genius that is MADE for TS and her candlelit supper post delivery

sazzles Yes, now I get you! We could be wireless but don't really bother with it (not sure why!) Dh said I was writing an essay yesterday

sibh My MIL also said 'any twinges' the other day when she rang I should have said 'no just some bloody mucous' or something else equally graphic

Buckets · 11/08/2008 20:14

Just popping in to say hi very briefly. I still can't sit down on my poorly bum long enough to hang out with you guys. Have been very clear with DH about visitors (eg his idea of bringiong his grandparents over!) that me and Kurt cannot make any plans so that has taken some pressure off.
Collected a proper glider rocking chair off Ebay today though so hoping that will improve the breastfeeding and eventually allow DH back in our bed!

alittlebitshy · 11/08/2008 20:20

lol at sazzles's branston pickles!!!!!

will be on tomorrow - dh, ds and i are off to bed now!!

OH NO - this baby like Take That!!! was just loading some chesy, easy listening onto ipod and she went mad for Shine by Take That. DH says it makes sense I was working on the TT tour when I found out I was expecting - so indoctrinated her very early on! Nothing else provoked a reaction. hope it is not sign of things to come.

BTW - has anyone else had a stupid bank advert pop up when the click the thread/talk link? it's not a popup as such just need to press refresh and thread appears?

ALBS family sleep tight.

oopsacoconut · 11/08/2008 20:56

Okay - I am going to have to kill my DH - he is trying to be amusing running through songs on the ipod I want calm cheesy quiet not thumpy heavy beat, metal music. He said 'but i find this calming??? WTF??? Who exactly is going to be in labour? i will have to drop ipod into the birth pool if he plays any of the tuneshe is currently playing. And he ruined my playlist!.

dizzydixies · 11/08/2008 21:01

at being an inspiration having only been to tesco - now if I could just manage to go to the bathroom

am getting a bit ahead of myself now though and making plans for the rest of the week - easy tiger

also had first non family visitors this evening which was nice too - Dylan behaved perfectly and fortunately my friend had her 3rd in May and lost her dad to cancer whilst pregnant with her 2nd dc so was a lovely visitor to have

foggy am sorry you're so fed up and sore but HUGELY impressed at the decorating etc going on

petitfilou tell dh absolutely YES for the laptop in bed my dh also offered but I was so determined to get the feeding established I thought maybe not lol

sazzles right sweetie just want to wish you all the luck in the world for tomorrow - will be sending you positive thoughts from up north and hoping that nobody in your hosp is in need of an emcs so you're not bumped down the que - please please please make sure dh texts me asap so I can let the ladies know

and in answer to your earlier Q, yes it is normally tradition to put silver coins in the pram of a newborn baby up here - will be getting the pram and walking about town over next few days as its not pay day till 15th

TS glad you had a better appt sweetie but at not thinking about maintaining list once Reese is here - will all fall to rack and ruin without you - we could all chip in to pay you a wage if required

I'm cracking up at Sibh Spoke to my nan earlier and also had my first eye-rolling 'no, nothing's happened yet...I would have told you if it had' moment. I love her but she drives me crazy sometimes. Also bumped into a friend in town earlier today, who was out with her very young baby, and she did the whole 'Not long to go now then!!!!!' overexcited thing despite having told me that it drove her mad when people did it to her, not one month ago. How soon we forget

Good luck for tomorrow Sazzles - can't wait to read your birth announcement

Nothing much to report here, just a nice day with DP - went into town and had a pub lunch before picking up some bits and pieces for the house - plus I got measured for nursing bras and am now a 36DD, apparently. So I have ordered the Hotmilk Cherry Bomb bra (how many of us is that now? ) plus a plain black cheapie.

Trying to drink RLT but it is giving me wicked heartburn!
