Morning all

Babieseverywhere How exciting, hopefully you are in the pool now labouring like a trooper
poppy Have things started back up again ? How frsutrating for you !
TS Sending some proper labour vibes your way

Hi to everyone else

Well I had a repeat performance of the other night, went to bed only for contractions to start, this time they were more intense, lasting longer but again after about 1.5-2 hours they fizzled out .... AARRGGGG it's driving me blardy mental ! I don't know how you lot are coping that have been like this for weeks

TwilightSurfer · 08/08/2008 07:54

Foghorn....coping? I'm ready for that padded cell!!!! {{{{twilight tears off through the night like a crazed lunatic}}}}}

OP posts:
AnnVan · 08/08/2008 08:21

TS if it was me I would have gone round the twist quite a while ago, so am impressed at your fortitude!

Just had a bath and now forearms and hands are itching like crazy - feels like I could just scratch the skin off. Am I suddenly having a reaction to my bubbles?

TwilightSurfer · 08/08/2008 08:23

Sorry AnnVan but that's actually pretty good. I started reacting to my dish soap in my first trimester....been in beautiful pink rubber gloves ever since.

TwilightSurfer · 08/08/2008 08:25

Okay! I've done enough middle of the night junk. I've eaten. I've soaked. I've balanced my checkbook. I've cleaned up my email account. I've caught up with all my facebook stuff...omitting my status ON PURPOSE. I've caught up on MN. Time to try and go back to sleep............................

OP posts:
AnnVan · 08/08/2008 08:27

{sighs} non more Radox baths for me then Iguess Im starting to get to the point where I've just had enough. Only problem is pregnancy being over will mean that I have a baby, and life will never be the same again.

Skybluebelle · 08/08/2008 08:31

Morning all. I have rlt and Belgian Waffles to add into the breakfast mix. Do you think it would be wrong to have ice cream with the waffles at this time of day?

I'm now officially on maternity leave and as this is the first time in forever that I'm not a slave to the alarm clock, I've been awake for hours . No doubt good practise for the months to come!

I've had really mixed emotions about finishing work - so excited about the baby, but I know that life will never be the same again. Anyway, going to keep myself busy today buying nursing bras.

Good luck to all of those who are on their way to having 08.08.08 babies and hello to everyone else.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2008 08:40

Good luck with the nursiong bra shopping Skybluebelle
Had a nightmare last two days been to two seperate mothecare stores. one measures me as a 36 dd/e The other says 36c so didnt buy any dont know where else to try.

Waffles and ice cream sound yummy, wonder if they will go down well with my raw carrot

poppysocks · 08/08/2008 08:41

Sorry to hear about another frustrating night for you too FHLH and good morning TS and AnnVan.

Well, I'm still here. Managed about 45 mins of shut eye, during which I woke up for couple of big contractions. Thought they were disappearing after that, but the crawled back into our bed and managed to doze while they returned every 3/4 mins, but were a fair bit shorter. Decided I should get up, and now they've gone back to longer gaps. DH just dropping DD at nursery though and when he's back we're off for a bit of a walk to see if we can get things moving. Grrrrr.

How are things in the pool babieseverwhere? Hope things are still moving forward for you.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2008 08:41

Annvann I am getting to that point too fed up of feeling heavy and tired.
It will all be worth it

Skybluebelle · 08/08/2008 08:48

No1 my plan (which could go all go wrong!) is to just buy one bra for now and then send DH out for more when I know whether it's the right size or not. I wonder if I should tell him whether that's my plan or leave it as a surprise.....

AnnVan I think I know how you feel - fed up with pregnancy but nervous about what the future has to bring. I hope No 1 is right that it will all be worth it.

sarahnh · 08/08/2008 08:57

No SazzlesA this am... is that a sign????!!!

PetitFilou1 · 08/08/2008 09:00

poppy and babies Hope we have some news today and that you got through the night ok

No1 I really wouldn't go to Mothercare for nursing bras - you need John Lewis, an NCT fitter, or a proper lingerie shop like Bravissimo. What size clothes do you normally wear? The band size is really important on bras as it provides 80% of the support (so says the figleaves website). I am a size 12 usually and wear a 32 or a 34. You should be able to get your fist inside the nursing bra cup-wise as that is how much your boobs should, in theory, expand (although to start with they can get really enormous and then settle down again)

sazzles Yes we did go out for the meal and very nice it was too - I had blue swimmer crab risotto with seabass and a chocolate brownie with icecream and dh had scallops and then venison with blueberry sauce. I did rant at him first though!

I have officially had enough now. TS Can I join you in the padded cell please. Oh and dh says he is going for a meeting in London when I am 39 weeks pregnant . Realistically he would need at least two hours to get back. So I have to have ds2 before then ....

Skybluebelle · 08/08/2008 09:09

PF do John Lewis have a good selection of nursing bras? They are on my hit list of shops today.

oopsacoconut · 08/08/2008 09:16

Morning All

I should have joined the midnight posters!! Up from 12-3 contracting with lower back ache - wondered what i should do - putting MN on never even crossed my mind, I may have found some company. Dh was snoring taking up whole bed and all I wanted to do was make a pillow mountain and lean forwards over it! Eventually went back to bed at 4 ish but need to be up for the dishwasher delivery man who will be here between 9 and 3, surely he can narrow it down???

No1 Try John LEwis or House of Fraser - HOF was fab and she measure and they tried the sizes changing things according to how they fit - so one is a 38G one is a 36H . Whatever you do don't trust M&S or Blooming Marvellous - we could all have fitted in the one BM said was mysize!

Annvan hope MW goes okay today and Give us a yell when the sofa arrives so we can all come sit on it.

Greetings fellow blimps

Today I'm sending lots of eviction vibes, to get rid of all the unwanted/unwelcome postnatal visitors and to try and help shift all those stubborn little ladies. Especially for you TS - you've been such a trooper these last few weeks, I really don't know how you've managed to stay sane and on top of things. So an extra special big happy push for you

Tons of positive labour vibes to poppysocks and BabiesEverywhere - really hope you both have wonderful easy births this time round

It's a grey, rainy Friday here in Leicester so I am sitting on the sofa in my pyjamas eating porridge and doing not very much Going to have a big clean later on, see if some hands+knees scrubbing might have some effect (if not, at least I'll have clean floors).

Had a lovely dinner with some NCT friends last night. Their little boy is sooooooooooooooo cute! Even when he was fussing and grizzling and wouldn't settle, he's still just the cutest little thing. It was great to spend an evening with them and see that they are still sane and normal people even with all the sleep deprivation and new baby madness Think DP was particularly encouraged.

CaptainCaveman · 08/08/2008 09:39

sounds promising today for some 08/08/08 babies . Praying all you ladies keep on contracting.

Mum still here, reporting on every noise Oliver makes like we have gone deaf and may not have heard the explosion he did in his nappy. Dh just came back from dropping ds1 off at nursery to be greeted with a status report from mum "Another pooey nappy daddy". Am upstairs quietly taking deep breaths and repeating the mantra:
"It's only because she cares. She will be going in the next 2 hours" (after my friend arrives of course, she needs to see who is visiting me).

Sorry, I sound like a crazed woman. Maybe I am . WARNING to all who have planned visitors who will stay over - don't do it!.

As you were....

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2008 09:43

Thanks for advice regarding bra fitting dont have a Bravissimo near me sadly and John Lewis bit of a teck too.
PF I am normally a size 10/12 but have always been measured a 36, will take a trip to Bravissimo when finished BF I think

cyteen · 08/08/2008 09:45

Heh, I've already told my dad that I will call people when we are ready to receive visitors Thankfully both mine and DP's family are pretty slack relaxed, so are happy to wait for a call...at least that's what they say now...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/08/2008 09:46

CC can imagine how stressful it is. I remember last year when dd was born had visitors every day for about a week, even when mw were visiting (they kept asking me if I was ok with all these visitors)
Annoyingly everyone who came said 'oh I remember what its like in early days so we wont stop long'
Well if you remember why come round so early uninvited.

PetitFilou1 · 08/08/2008 10:17

no1 I'm very surprised if you are a 10/12 that you have a 36 back - have you measured yourself??? It was a relevation to me when I first got measured properly and got given a 32 D. Took some getting used to as felt tight at first but my boobs looked like they were up where they should be at last! Mind you I am pear shaped so narrow back and shoulders with ample bottom....so maybe you are broader up top than me.

skybluebelle yes JL have a reasonable selection - I mainly go there because their fitters seem to get it right. At M&S you get some 16 year old who has not got the first clue usually. And from reading on MN people's experience of mothercare is the same.

oops 36H actually takes the same volume as 38G I think so not as as you think!

NOT that I am an expert on bras - it might feel like I'm aiming to be! But have been doing my research lately!

PetitFilou1 · 08/08/2008 10:25

we have mil coming over. But she will play with the dcs and iron at least.

cc you have my sympathies

alittlebitshy · 08/08/2008 10:28

cc deep breaths!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
