Hello ladies

We are home!!

BIG congratulations to the babies born in my absence & >> to all who need them!!

Thank you to Oops for updating you all

Well as you know, Elijah Jacob Patrick Aguda arrived on Monday 4th August at 00:38 weighing a lovely 7lbs 10oz

Labour all went a bit horribly wrong & poor little guy got himself in quite a state, he was mega high up, labour wasn't progressing, he had passed meconium & his heart rate kept decelerating, not just during contractions either

So they whipped him out quickly via the sun roof

Was totally un-prepared for a section & am in a fair bit of pain (I'm a big wuss) but the main thing is Elijah is here safely

He is an absolute sweetheart - I am besotted with him & am so thrilled to have him home

I have added some piccies to my profile

Xx

AnnVan · 07/08/2008 17:18

MrsMagooo he's just adorable! Congratulations. Love his name too>

cyteen · 07/08/2008 17:25

Hello all, like my shiny new haircut? I hope so, it cost me enough faffing about on buses to get there and back. Fucking buses, roll on the day when I get my driving license.

Anyway...

no1 I too have got a raw carrot obsession at the moment - could be worse I suppose.

MrsMagoo the newest Magoo is very scrummy indeed So glad you're all home together, awr

Bealcain...got you in my thoughts lady.

ALBS {{{hugs}}} for every down there will be an up just hang on because the roller coasters not over yet.

MrsMagooo, BEAUTIFUL!

Foghorn, There's a 10 to 20 day incubation period once exposed. Once the child has it they are MOST at risk for spreading it 3 to 5 days BEFORE spots appear...thus the extra caution. Also, it's an AIR thing not just a touch thing so a simple sneeze can pass chicken pox on to many (again...before the spots even appear). After spots appear, you have to keep clear until they are crusted over and preferrable GONE COMPLETELY. For one child it can be a solid 30 day process. When you have two.....goodness. {{hugs}}

Buckets, goodness I'm not looking forward to any boob activity.

I have been out of the house folks!! Decided we all needed a little adventure so loaded DD and MIL in my truck and headed to the local drive thru for a burger and fries. MIL wanted to stop by the bookstore which worked out nicely as one my RL friends was in the parking lot with her son, one of DD's friends. We then took the long way home. (I've deleted the part about DD fussing pretty much the entire time.) It was good to be out but now I officially want this baby out as it's too damn hot to have two humans occuping the same body!!

What TS said fhlh as per my answer to your other thread. I feel for you... I'm afraid we purposefully infected ds1 when he was very young (NOT a good move, felt very guilty) but dd still hasn't had it bizarrely. A family full with it when you have a newborn is not what you want. I would call the hospital though and get their policy from the horses mouth - it may be irrelevant what other medical people on MN think..

Still waiting for dh to come home suppose to be going out to the pub later for a meal - we haven't been out in the evening for a very very long time. There is still the dcs packed lunches to do, toys to tidy up and I have to bath them and put them to bed. He does choose his moments to come home late.

poppysocks · 07/08/2008 18:32

Lovely to hear from all the new mummies. Sorry you're sad ALBS. Hope you feel better soon.

Good luck pertelote, bealcain and everyone else who's in the pending...maybe corner.

Interesting day here.... Woke up this morning, went through to DD and had a sudden gush. Def. not the full waters action I remember engulfing everyone and everything last time, but enough to soak me to the knees. Had terrible thought I had wet myself , having not been as good about pelvic floors as should have been. However, v. surprised that could happen - so much and so suddenly. Rang the hospital who said to see if it happened again. 10 mins later it did and I'd filled another pad after another 20 in trickles. Went to hospital and they say it is 'inconclusive' as to whether it was my waters.....

It definitely isn't wee - had bladder to empty after one gush and one came immediately after I'd gone to the loo another time. This is the scary bit: apparently it is possible for you to produce that sort of quantity of watery mucous, rather than it be waters . So glad that none of this happened while I was out and about. Anyway MW not sure whether it's waters or this discharge, but now also getting lots of mucous - although again v. different from show last time as this is not jelly like and is v. clear (sorry - tmi I'm sure).

No movement on the contractions side of things, just a spot of backache and the odd niggle as in the last few days.

Back at hospital tomorrow anyway for pre-op assessment and they actually said that they'd leave me 72 hours if it was waters before they tried to intervene, which takes me to Sunday.

Was feeling v. unsettled and annoyed by it, but have spoken to friend who is on standby for DD and sort of hoping it is, sort of hoping it's not now and far more relaxed. Not sure we'll bother with sex/curry etc. as DH keen to hold on until c-section until Monday and I'm really not sure but will be sad to wave goodbye to the bump whether now or after the weekend. Is that weird?!

Buckets · 07/08/2008 19:17

Oh Albs it sucks doesn't it? I think we have a working technique but because we didn't to start with, mine are still really sore. I've decided to stay indoors in bra and pants until things improve. So when one boob is feeding, the other is out in the fresh air (hence the coffee mug.) Bit of skin-to-skin might cheer you both up too, it doesn't have to stop in the 1st week. Also, I had a much better night last night because I've kicked DH into the spare room so I don't have to stress myself about his lack of sleep. So much more relaxing having Kurt in bed with me and room to build my mountain of pillows for the rugby ball hold! Hope things improve soon for you.

Had to instruct DH not to answer the phone as he is rubbish at saying no - he'd said yes to an annoying ex colleague coming to visit this morning! I answered the door in my dressing gown and said bluntly Adam shouldn't have said yes and we're not ready for non-family to visit yet. Honestly though, can't believe the guy's wife didn't stop him, it's not like DH can hold a conversation with 2 kids to look after (him not being female and a multitasking ace).

Labour dust to those who need it (because I'm such a pro now hahaha.)

CaptainCaveman · 07/08/2008 21:09

Will post properly tomorrow but just wanted to pop on and say arrrrrgggghhh. Bloody parents and in-laws. Mum arrived yesterday, as arranged weeks ago when we thought Oliver would arrive yesterday - this was done so dh could have a night out with his friend.

Anyway, mum decided to stay 2 nights and last night whilst I was 'resting' on the settee, decided to cuddle Oliver all evening WHILST talking non-fucking stop. I know, I know, I should appreciate her but SHUT UP and PUT THE BABY DOWN!!!!!!

Pil's came for a visit today - very lovely and they do keep out of the way but when fil started telling me Oliver couldn't possibly be hungry because I had just fed him AND that his hiccups must be hurting him I started to lose my patience....
Good old Oliver started rooting and crying though so he managed to stick a virtual 2 fingers up on my behalf .

Mum now downstairs with ds's and dh, and she's hovering over the bouncer ITCHING to pick ds2 up. Feel like I am cruel but I really don't want to end up with a baby who won't be put down without fussing.

On top of that the STUPID mw weighing ds2 today and he has lost 10oz. Her 'plan' is that he will be weighed again on sat and if he continues to lose weight then we should think about adding a formula feed to give him more calories. FFS, he is only 6 days old - give him a chance!!! I will resolutely refuse to formula feed as I know my milk supply is fine and he is well too!

I think things may be moving on here. Had an hour or two when it seemed that there were some contractions getting going, but they've died back now, but still trickling and tons of pretty runny (sorry - tmi again) mucous/show. Am really hoping it gets going or disappears altogether soon so that if we need take DD over to friend on way to hospital, we're not getting them up at a silly o'clock.

Yes, I was surprised by 72 hrs Sazzles, but I'm not worried as I'll be back at the hospital tomorrow anyway so should hopefully get a better idea then where we're heading with this.

for you CC with all the family and HV coming in and disrupting things.

Haven't got that far Sazzles. When I went in this morning, the MW said that if she was sure the waters had gone she would get the consultant to discuss it. As it was, we came home. My understanding is that if I get there before 6cm I can be added to the list to be done asap. Wondering whether this may be a message re: VBAC though.... Also, as hospital is pretty much an hour away and we'd have to drop DD off on the way, plus I really don't want to have to start all of that until/unless I'm certain, if the VBAC gods really are cheering for me I might not get there early enough.

Alternatively, this will come to nothing and I will have c-section as planned on Monday. Probably the case!

dizzydixies · 07/08/2008 22:09

poppy got you email good luck either way

not staying to catch up as Dylan not amused just wanted to pop in and wish you luck

{{{hugs}}}} Poppy. Don't know what else to say other than I hope all goes well no matter how it goes.

Captain, yours is why we've put a ban on folks for the first two weeks. It drove me nutz with people here immediately after we got home with DD. I needed tending to. She needed time to settle. BUT NO! People were coming out of the bushes. Makes you wonder if everybody FORGETS what the first few days are like with a newborn.

Not feeling so good here this evening. Would like to PUKE. Baby did some squirming while I napped and now I feel like she's about to fall out. Keep getting the sensation that I'm leaking but I'm not seeing anything. My mood has also shifted in to low gear. I feel serious with a dash of depressed. Contractions still only mild. Hoping I can hold it together so DH can take MIL out for an adult dinner because I'd like a few moments alone with DD (and a few moments alone to do a sitz bath....doesn't bother me if DD comes and goes while I soak but not ANYONE ELSE).

I wonder how Expectant is doing. It's 5am, 08/08/08, now.
