Morning All

Well last night very little sleep happened here - then when it did it was time to get up and get ready to take DH's car for a service in Cirencester (about 45 minutes away) then to the hospital for a lovely, amazing fab hydrotherapy session [blisss] then contemplation of going to shopping for maternity bras AGAIN.

VG Fabulous news - When is he going to get a name????

Miamla I was told when you feel ready and both are comfortable. There is only 10 months between my brother and I so I guess my folks lalalalala actually I don't want to think about it.

Annvan Hope you feeling better today.

Sazzles aaahh for a runny egg andwich - DH is having one for breakfast in response to your offer.

Okay I had better go - DH has just discovered the heart on his leg. - I am in such trouble now.....

pregnancy1 · 07/08/2008 08:57

Moooooorning,
Thank you all for al your kind messages. I did try and post yesterday morning, but it all got a bit much .
TS we've called her Emmeline Gretta for the stats (sorry Miamla I didn't let you know that bit!)
So, had a lovely day on Tuesday. Went to the midwife, still wasn't engaged, but never mind. Popped to lunch with a couple of girls from NCT and laughed about how bean would never arrive. Late on Tuesday night got a couple of bad period pains and didn't sleep brilliantly. Got up at 5am to have some breakfst with the plan of going back to sleep when DH woke up. 6am waters broke (thank goodness for wooden floors) and lost plug. Told by hospital to come in for a quick check, so had a shower, shaved my legs etc . Got to hospital at 7am, checked and sent home (happily). Got home at 9:30 and thought that I might be having some contractions, put on my tens. DH called the hospital to tell them they were every 4 min lasting 45 seconds and was told to stay away. He kept calling (poor thing - I was relatively fine) and only got told to come in when he realised that I hadn't felt bean for a while (I was a tad distracted). Got back at 11am and ward was full so put in a waiting room (because, let's face it it's my first baby and they had only sent me home 2 hours ago!). Poor DH kept sticking his nose out asking for me to be seen (I'd only been there 5-10 min), so they put me in a little room and a lovely midwife came in (prob about 11:30am at this point) and told me I was 7cm dilated! I was thrilled. They let me stay in nice little room on the relaxation floor as I was so far gone. Had a brilliant experience and the midwives were amazing. Bean was born at 2:55 and they let me have a 6 hour check out so we were home by 9pm (having stayed in the same room al day). They followed the birth plan to the letter and let me have skin to skin for a good 1-2 hours before they weighed her.
Miamla I had some intricate stitching (only 2nd degree though luckily) and was told to stay away from sex for at least 6 weeks. Obv that fact isn't botherng me at the moment! Ask me again in a week

Right, enough about me - we're off back to the hospital to get bean (must start calling her Emmeline!) checked out by a paedatrician (it was this or stay the night last night)

Huge hugs to everyone still in the waiting room. I really hope you have wondeful experiences too xxxxxx

miamla · 07/08/2008 08:58

oops just tell DH its a sign of how much you love him!

hmm runny egg sandwich sounds like a fantastic idea. I reckon it'll even make up for being kept awake all night by my milk monster who has currently transformed into a cuddle monster!

FoghornLeghorn · 07/08/2008 09:03

Sounds great PG1 Loely to hear of a first time mum having such a good experience

PetitFilou1 · 07/08/2008 09:03

miamla yes general advice is wait until 6 week check - if you've got stitches I really would wait, you don't want them infected (yeuch) But full marks for being keen - I didn't feel like it for a loooong time. And I second the advice on making sure you have adequate contraception - you can still get pregnant while bf although it is less likely. I didn't get my period for 6 months or so both times but you don't know when you are going to start ovulating again...

Oh and btw newborns never like having their nappy changed but they get used to it!

oops lol at dh discovering heart on his leg!

TS I see you are still going - how are your sanity levels?!

VG Glad to hear lo is out of special care - that is good news.

Ds2 has definitely wriggled down some more. He was really wriggly yesterday and today I could no longer get my under the bump jeans on - they just won't stay up. Feel very tired and could quite easily go back to bed but I'm not going to as too much to do!

miamla · 07/08/2008 09:12

preg1 wow! sounds like you had such a calm experience! well done you! what midwife did you have?
It would seem we have matching repair jobs!
when can we come and visit???? i know i know, i need to be a little more patient but when can we come and visit????

miamla · 07/08/2008 09:15

pf he's not too bothered with the actual nappy change but he gets so upset when he's pooing. i guess he'll get used to it.
If you feel tired don't you think you should go back to bed for a bit? you dont want to use up emergency energy reserves at this late stage. Keep those batteries charged!

Good morning ladies

Congratulations preg1 Not happy about your queue jumping though

It's nice to see that for those who have their Lo's things seem to be going ok. I am really looking forward to having MN this time around for support.

Well, I had antenatal yesterday. Straight away doctor said 'Oh it's gonna be a big baby' No it's effing not, that's not what I've ordered. Anyway, offered a sweep, lovely midwife done it. Said it was succesful and she actually felt babies head and I'm 2cm with a nice soft cervix. So started bleeding and have been since. Pains started every 10 minutes from then and continued through the night until 5:30 this morning when DP had to get up for work Which I thought was hilarious. So now nothing. So who bloody knows what's happening

If nothing happens booked in for induction Tuesday morning. So want to avoid if I can, so off to sainsburys shortly to walk around there for a few hours

Sorry about me me me post, just wanted to keep you all updated

PetitFilou1 · 07/08/2008 09:37

miamla I think he probably isn't used to the sensation yet - must be a bit weird I suppose! Toddlers go through this when you are potty training too (some of them) they don't like the feeling of evacuating into thin air as opposed to into a nappy - I think it is probably something similar for a newborn no longer in the womb. But only me theorising!

Yes I probably should go back to bed but have to go and buy dcs Autumn wardrobe - much easier to go clothes shopping on my tod than with a tiny baby or with the dcs....maybe later I will get a sleep if I'm quick!

sazzles Don't stress about the lo coming out naturally if need be - it would be ok one way or the other! Is it too early for a glass of wine (I am kidding btw for anyone who is seriously wondering)

Thanks sazzles Midwife did say, go home relax, have sex and drink champagne . So I can do 1 & 3 but sex is off the menu, I made the mistake of telling DP exactly what the sweep involved Was a bit shocked when midwife said she could feel babies head though

Great news Shazza and I second Sazzles thoughts on DH
I'm hoping mw will do a sweep for me today and tell me I'm about 5cm What do you reckon ?

pertelote · 07/08/2008 10:47

Morning! Congratulations Preg1, love the name! And fantastic news from VG.

I think I might dare to join Bealcain in the "In progress" corner - my waters broke this morning. Been to hospital, they say everything fine and to come back when labour starts properly - no real contractions yet. So it's curry and pineapple for lunch, up and down the stairs sideways and perhaps an oral dose of prostaglandins . Otherwise they'll induce me tomorrow morning...

mummypud · 07/08/2008 11:16

how exciting pert!!!!!! keep us informed , still nothing going on here except nesting a plenty and seriously debating doing some painting

cyteen · 07/08/2008 11:35

Goodness me, I missed it all yesterday didn't I!

Congratulations pregnancy1, how marvellous that your little girl is here and what a wonderful birth story too - very encouraging for us first timers. Lovely news. It's so exciting coming on and finding babies arriving day by day. On a similar note, good luck to pertelote, wishing you lots of contractions (in the nicest sense).

Hugs to AnnVan, you poor thing - you definitely win the insomniac award for all the August ladies Sending you lots of virtual massage and other sleep-inducing vibes.

Expectant and TS I shall be keeping my fingers crossed that things go the way each of you wants today...think positive girls

VG brilliant news about your little man, I'm so happy you'll finally get to be at home all together

LOL at oops and her DH and at no1 and hers. He's taking his life in his hands saying that kind of thing to a pregnant lady isn't he?

Sorry to anyone I've missed...had a lovely afternoon and evening with my aunt and her husband yesterday, just catching up on family goss. Went out for a curry in the evening but I wussed out and had a mild one - I'd like to get booked in at the birth centre before I start making any overt eviction moves! Got a fair bit on today: haircut this afternoon, dinner with friends this evening which means I need to make a cake to take round there, plus tedious housework such as cleaning the defrosted freezer. Am hoping the activity will encourage El Squid to wriggle down a bit more in readiness for BIRTHAGE!!!

PetitFilou1 · 07/08/2008 11:42

sazzles yes I did see matching scores on fb
Re VBAC don't think Capricornness has much to do with it - come on, admit it you're a control freak

fhlh you can but hope - you never know! I think I may be dilating very gradually - but may just be being a bit hopeful

pertelote Good luck!

I've just bought some clothes for the dcs and after trying to decide for about 15 minutes which size purple top to get dd - I've left the sodding thing in the shop! Still at least I did buy some of the things I picked up...

TwilightSurfer · 07/08/2008 12:20

Morning! Still here. Achey but here.

I would like to send out a massive GOOD NEWS to VG, P1, Shazza, & Pertelote. All for very different reasons of course.

Sarah, you and me....what's up with our labour!!!?

Miamla, if it feels right have sex. The 6 week thing is a medical thing to allow your insides to resume their "close to old" position AND for you to possibily re-establish a cycle. If you tore....it allows time to heal as well. However, sounds like you had a pretty easy birth plus your young so you should whip back into shape in quickly. I know several folks who have a 10 month seperation in kids so WATCH OUT if that's not on your list.

Must EAT...will return in a bit.

OP posts:
AnnVan · 07/08/2008 13:38

Hello all, I'm back. Got about three hours sleep, so feeling slightly better. Got news that our couch is arriving tomorrow! Yay, we will finally have a fully furnished living room, and enough seats so visitors will no longer have to sit on the floor! Of course they had to hit on the day I have MW appointment. I mean, sod's law or what. I have no other claims on my time after all. Anyway, MIL has agreed to come and wait while I go to MW in case they arrive.

Cyteen - I win an award! What's the prize? one nights restful and uninterrupted sleep? thanks!

Congratulations to PG1 - that sounds like such a calm and relaxed birth experience. I can only hope mine will be something like that!
