EllieorOllie, I love that site! So relieved that I'm not the only one struggling with clothes - I'm already filling out the one-size-bigger jeans I bought at about 5 months in my last pregnancy, and wearing my under-bump maternity jeans and even some maternity tops. What to wear for work though? I have told people now (10 weeks) but my boss (who's a dr) has told me, very nicely, not to get too excited until I hit 12 weeks, so I can't face turning up in full maternity wear (and all my stuff from last time is truely worn out, too).

twocutedarlings · 25/08/2008 08:46

Hi Girls, Great to see you are all doing well .

Ive been in my maternity jeans for about 4 weeks now, i look blooming hugh . With DD1 i didnt look pg till about 24 weeks and with DD2 i was about 20 weeks, this time i look and feel about 6 mths gone LOL .

Got myself a fab bargain on ebay last night 7 maternity top for a grand total of £13.56 including P&P .

Missmodular · 25/08/2008 09:12

Hello everyone,

I've not posted before but been lurking like mad since the original post and feel like I know you all already!

I'm 12+5 'gone' but look about six months . I showed quite early with my first pregnancy (this is my second) but I never quite managed to shift the pregnancy bump (I've been told it could have something to do with having a c-section?). So this time round I popped out early and haven't stopped

What other sites are there for maternity wear? I've looked at Next and Dorothy Perkins - where can I get the nice floaty stuff that was all the rage a year or so ago even for the non-pg?

FruitynNutty · 25/08/2008 09:57

TheHedgeWitch It's the jeans from the Bhoumi website I'm not too keen on Mothercare maternity. Hennes is good, so's Bloomin Marvellous and Jojo Maman
I might just buy the size 12 in the Bhoumi jeans. as my thighs have grown I'm just hoping they're not too stretchy around the legs as I like my legs to be sucked in

Just back from my first appointment with the midwife (for the first 9 weeks, everything happened through the fertility clinic, but now we're off to the real world). She was absolutely lovely - phew! Not much happened today - just filling out paperwork and answering questions, but she did let me listen to the heartbeat, which was thumping away nice and quickly, set my due date at March 24 and booked me in for the nuchal and bloods on Sept. 4.

Have to say, hearing the heartbeat is extraordinary -- and extraordinarily reassuring. I'm one of those very fortunate women who's had NO pregnancy symptoms, so it's lovely getting confirmation now and then that things are proceeding as planned!

MKG · 25/08/2008 12:57

Good morning all!

With both my other pregnancies I didn't show until I was about 6 months, but it literally happened over night. I went to sleep with a little bump and woke up huge. But I'm also six feet tall so there is more room for my insides to go. During my first pregnancy my sil was about 4 months behind me, she was in her Maternity clothes at 2 months and we looked the same when I was 7 months and she was 3 months. She's very tiny though (a little over 5 feet)

I have my 12 week ultrasound tomorrow morning. I'm soo excited.

Mandy- They can wager a guess at 12 weeks, but it isn't very accurate because at that point the genitals look almost identical, it's just the direction that the line points in. I was told at 12 weeks that ds2 was a girl and of course at 20 weeks they said he was a boy. An experienced tech should be able to make a close guess, but use it for entertainment purposes only.

MKG · 25/08/2008 12:57

Corgi--So glad to hear that everything went well with the midwife.

Mandy73 · 25/08/2008 13:34

Hi all,

I hope everyone's OK.

Many thanks MKG. Corgi that sounds lovely, v jealous of you!

Speaking of clothes: What are Mothercare sizes like? Someone on another thread replied to me that the seem to differ a lot.

corgikelly · 25/08/2008 15:12

MKG - laughing at the thought of your bump appearing overnight. That's the kind of thing that gives credence to stories of cabbage patches and storks!

Will you have a nuchal fold test at your 12 weeks, or is that not standard in the US?

lizziemun · 25/08/2008 15:16

Mandy

Like all clothes sizes vary in shop and style. I only bought jeans/trousers in maternity clothes and bought normal tunic tops from other shops.

FruitynNutty · 25/08/2008 15:26

TheHedgeWitch I LOVED Dorothy Perkins for maternity when pg with DS. Not expensive either Have you tried Hennes? I'm sure they come in all sizes

Just going to order my jeans from that website now

Corgikelly I've also got my 12 week nuchal on the 4th September I can't wait! I'm amazed you heard the heartbeat. Was it through ultrasound or did you have to have an internal. I thought you could only hear the heartbeat through ultrasound after about 10/11 weeks I'm sure I'm wrong though. The midwife didn't offer at my booking in

corgikelly · 25/08/2008 15:55

FnN, we'll have to compare notes!

I actually heard the heartbeat for the first time at 6 weeks and again at 8 weeks, both through transvaginal u/s -- the great and glorious advantage of going down the assisted reproduction route is that they pelt you with blood tests and the like (I was getting my hcG betas checked every 3 days for the first 3 weeks post-confirmation of pregnancy!).

This time, though, was just with the abdominal u/s -- and I was really surprised at how loud and strong it was; I'm 10 weeks today, btw. Here the window for the 12-wk scan is actually 11-13 wks, so I'm going in at 11+2.

Mandy73 · 25/08/2008 16:09

Thanks Lizziemun just went ahead and ordered this - really fancy it for autumn - hoping it'll be forgiving or at least look OK a bit clingy .

FnN & Corgi I've got my nuchal 10 sept (12+5), v excited but also quite nervous things won't be OK. Fingers crossed for you!

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone. xx

FruitynNutty · 25/08/2008 18:18

awww corgikelly we almost went down the assisted route too. I'm riddled with PCOS We were about to go and see the consultant after various transvaginal scans and x-rays - the one where they throw due through your tubes. Luckily and amazingly I discovered I was pregnant after only ovulating twice in a year I still can't quite believe it. Thankfully I heard the heartbeat at our 6 week dating scan I can't wait to hear it through the ultrasound at the 12 week scan
Mandy I'm also nervous about the 12 week scan. Especially after Molliemooma's MMC

livismum · 25/08/2008 20:27

Yeah i think its impossible not to worry, 11 wks today and got to wait till 10th sept for my dating scan grrrr ill be 13+3 then.

still trying to keep it quiet got a week off work so looking forward to slobbing in comfy trs round the house!

lizziemun · 25/08/2008 21:44

I have my scan on thursday, I'm hoping as it 8.40am i won't have to wait for hour like last time.

Mandy i think everyone get nervous about scans this will be my 3rd baby and i'm still not sure they will find a baby in there I was going to buy another test when i went shopping yesterday.

MKG · 26/08/2008 04:00

Corgi-They automatically do a nuchal measurement, and I have consented to do the bloods that go with it, because they really are more accurate if both are done.

As far as testing is concerned, think of it as every test you guys take that is an extra, Strep B, Gestational Diabetes, for us is standard.

emma2617 · 26/08/2008 08:46

morning ladies!! Apologies for my recent absenteeism I have moved house over the weekend and my internet got cut off at old house on friday, then we arrived at new house to find that in the renovation the landlord has done he has removed ALL sockets...phone, internet and TV ariel so my only MN access is from work!!

Good to hear scans are coming thick and fast now!

I am 12+3 today, have only put on 2lb so far, despite not eating particularly well! I am seriously bloated all the time so have my trousers permanantly un-done, but I am o where near ready for maternity clothes yet...wish I was though!!

Hope everyopne is well today!

firstontheway · 26/08/2008 08:58

Hi Everyone!

I'm due my first on March 23rd

Wow, some of you are really suffering... if I didn't know better, I'd swear I was about 3 or 4 weeks more preggy than I actually am... sickness started very early at about 4 or 5 weeks and has mostly gone now ( 10+1 ) although nauseous sometimes.

Also... have put on an obscene amount of weight

seriously... I'm hardly the skinniest of people anyway, I'm usually a size 14, but this is ridiculous. And no, its not a bump. Just fat. Grrrrr....

firstontheway · 26/08/2008 09:02

btw... how completely odd is it to see due April and May 2009 threads on here?!

I love it, makes me feel so much more advanced than I actually am!!

barbie1 · 26/08/2008 09:15

hi, just wondering if any of you have had any cramping? im 8 + 2 today and last night i had a cramping pain, started of slight and just got worse...I wouldnt say it was really bad but i guess i felt it more as i was in the middle of the night. After everything thing we have been through im totally on edge, im just wishing the time away until the 12 week scan for good news and then i can hopefully relax and enjoy this pregnancy because right now im not! i wont even look at baby clothes, books and other things just in case, which is hard since i work in a shopping mall and there are lots of cute shops! Glad to hear everyone is keeping well, im jealous of your scans!!!

firstontheway · 26/08/2008 09:24

I had cramping that lasted for about a week or two when I was 6-7 weeks. It never got very bad, just felt like perod pains but I was worried so I called NHS direct.

Found out later its most likely your uterus expanding to make space for buba so try not to worry
