Thanks HopingCat!

Re: 6 hour hospital discharge, I think that's all fine if your labour has been pretty standard and they're happy with both you and the baby. I have to confess tho, despite the rammy and lack of sleep and really really crap food, I'm a bit of hospital junkie when it comes to my conifinements! I'm quite happy having painkillers on tap and people to ask questions on hand if I'm still ropey - last time I was in for 5 days because of a screwed up epidural, so maybe I'm not the best person to advise!

lemur · 22/08/2008 22:25

Hello,
I have been lurking as I am 11/12 weeks pregnant but wanted to wait until my scan until I joined you, but I am interested by what Slickbird says about the EDD from the scan being different to what she knows is right. I had a 10 week scan and the sonographer gave me a date 12 days earlier than I know is the right EDD, and I really don't know what to do about it. I think I will just have to refuse to accept that date, because where I live, they start to induce you when you are seven days overdue - and DD was 10 days late anyway, so if I don't somehow refuse the sonographer's DD date, I could end up with fighting to stop them inducing a baby that has another 15 days to go!!!
Anyway, hello.

Hmmmm.Lemur - Interesting point. Last time the exact same thing happened. I knew my LMP, what my EDD would be and the scan put me a week ahead of where I thought I was. So I thought, "Great, a week less of being sick!' But then in the end, DD2 ended up being a 'week late' but really came round the EDD I had originally thought. Funnily enough I was due for a membrane sweep the day after I went into labour so, yeah, technically speaking, that might not have been necessary. Well, it wasn't cos I was in labour. I would speak to your midwife and see what she says. I don't know if they are able to MAKE you do anything, because the risk, ulitmately is down to you. It may not even come to all that. Sorry, long post. Man I could do with a glass of wine. (Actually, maybe not, because I would probably ramble even more...!)

Slickbird · 22/08/2008 22:45

BTW, the sonographer did say today that they measure the baby, take your LMP date, but then they add a margin of error of 5-6 days either way, depending on what they think (I think re: the size of the baby)

lizziemun · 23/08/2008 07:30

Slickbird last time dd2 was due 30th August but didn't arrive untill 7th September last year but i still on the August thread as that was where i had been.

The hospital i am at only adjust your due date if they think it is more then a week different.

meep · 23/08/2008 09:44

Morning everyone.

Having got my bfp after our first go of trying this time round I wasn't entirely sure when my LMP was but could say the exact date we conceived! if you count the weeks from there it is different to what I have been told by both the GP and from my early scan. Both the GP and the sonographer have the same date so I am just going with that one!

I have aaaaaaaages to wait till my next scan and am also counting down the weeks. We've booked for a private nuchal fold scan. Auntyspan we get bloods done with the nuchal fold and I also get my nhs 12 week scan and bloods too.I can't wait to get it done as I still can't quite believe that I am pregnant again!

Had my booking in appointment with the gp - she was lovely and spent ages with me because I ended up having a blub talking about dd's birth and the problems I had with bf. Hopefully this time I will get loads of support and get it right!

titchy77 · 23/08/2008 11:40

Hello ladies
Not to bad here, still feeling very sick and tired and dreading going back to work on monday after nearly 3 weeks off. I had my appointment with my consultant last thurs and she has put me on baby asprin untill 36 wks and clexane injections untill after delivery, which I have to inject myself into my stomach....it is awful, i hate it, my dh does it for me and it takes me about 20 mins before i even let him near my tummy!! After last nights one, I have come up in a hughe black bruise the size of a golfball!! Hopefully this baby will stick and the medication works. Also have another scan next week. Does anyone else feel really angry at thier dh/dp? I cannot stop bickering with mine and have been getting really angry with him resulting in me ignoring him for a few hours then forgetting why I'm not talking to him.Enjoy the long w/end.

MKG · 23/08/2008 14:47

Meep--sorry I didn't get back to you about the stroller. My sister gave me her old one when ds1 was born so it wasn't a big deal for me to buy a double one, this is what I have stroller It doesn't show in the picture, but it has an attachment for an infant carrier/car seat, much like a travel system.

MKG · 23/08/2008 16:06

Our time is flying by, because there is a May '09 group already. I can't believe it. Wasn't it yesterday that we started this thread?

SquiffyHock · 23/08/2008 22:25

Hi all, I'm 10 weeks now and have a huge belly!!! It's third baby but I look so, well, pregnant! I'm still avoiding telling people until 12 weeks.

Has anyone else found this?

FruitynNutty · 23/08/2008 23:02

SquiffyHock I'm so relieved you said that. I'm also 10 weeks and have looked pregnant since I was 6 weeks !! Really strange when with DS I didn't look noticeably pg until I was a good 21 or so weeks!
Wht's going on with our bodies eh? I asked the midwife on Friday if your uterus expands quicker with 2nd/3rd etc pregnancies. She said "Well it's stretchier" so not necessarily expands quicker? Thats a shame. I think it might be extreme water retention. Although, if you think about it, our uterus' are the size of an orange right now (I'm imagining a large grapefruit sized orange ). So by the time it's pushed all your intestines out the way, your tummy is bound to be bigger.
I also think if you've got a short waist/very slim then you're more likely to show quicker.
It's a PITA when you're trying to hide it from certain people until 12 weeks!

Not just me then We went to the park yesterday and I was paranoid that I'd bump into BIL & SIL as DH hasn't told them yet!

HedgeWitch - did you have symhisis (sp??) last time? A friend of mine did and it's really not nice.

Slickbird · 24/08/2008 10:29

Titchy77 - What are these injections for? It sounds awful!

babyinbelly · 24/08/2008 11:15

I used to love my tight jean but cant fit in any of my pre preg clothes. Maternity trousers for about 3 weeks now and I'm 12wks. Had my scan on fri and was so relieved to see a baby in there! Excellent news as was starting to panic that it was be empty. My belly has expanded loads this time. I also did't show till about 20wks last time and wore my usual clothes until 35wks

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 12:08

Well I don't know what to do clothing wise. My belly's too big for my normal jeans but my maternity jeans are too big around the belly. I've been wearing leggings with long flowing tops and flip flops. What can I wear with leggings apart from flip flops though? I've just worn my flip flops out in the rain and went skidding across the road so probably not the safest form of footwear What's a girl to do? Plus, from my embarrassing slipping and sliding, I've got a big hole in my leggings now.

EllieorOllie · 24/08/2008 15:08

I'm 10 weeks and showing already. Last time I didn't show till 18 weeks or so. My midwife reckons your abdominal muscles just give up after the first pregnancy.
When we went to tell my parents that I was expecting again my mum said "Thank goodness for that. I thought I was going to have to recommend a good pilates class to you"

FruitynNutty - have you tried mothercare moda early term jeans? additions direct also have 'little bump' jeans. they might fit better...

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 16:17

ooh, I'll have a look now. Don't want anything with panels because you can see them if your top is too short so that's a bit of a dead give away. Thanks for the tip EllieorOllie
Love your name, one of my best friends is called Ellie and her son is called Ollie

Mandy73 · 24/08/2008 16:24

FruitynNutty said:

Absolutely agree, I'm quite 'long' in the torso & not super slim and I'm not showing at all at 10+1 (it's #1 though, I do think that makes a difference too).

Hope everyone's OK. xx

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 16:49

Mandy with my 1st I didn't show until I was a good 24 weeks So don't worry if you don't show for ages, enjoy being slim for as long as possible, your bump will come!

Mandy73 · 24/08/2008 16:55

Good to know FruitynNutty . 24 weeks - w o w.

Can def. feel 'something firm' in there though - v exciting!

On another note, what are the chances of seeing the sex at the nuchal scan (mine's at 12+5)? Anyone know? x

meep · 24/08/2008 16:56

thank goodness you're all showing. I'm still in my jeans (they are stretchy!) but my work trousers are about to be relegated to the pre-pregnancy bag under the bag!

I have a wedding to go to when I am only 11 weeks and pre-scan - and I haven't a clue what to wear - agh!

EllieorOllie · 24/08/2008 17:15

Fairly sure both of the ones I suggested have panels. Can see your point with the panel problem! I bought some from a website called 'Bhoumi', they have no panels, just elastic tighteny things inside. I think they're called the vintage cut. Really pretty detailing on the back, look nicer than my normal jeans!!
The EllieorOllie name is because when I was pregnant last time round they were my two name choices - although I ended up calling my daughter Verity!!

FruitynNutty · 24/08/2008 17:53

ooh, I'm liking those jeans ellie do they come up small or large? Are they really stretchy? I'm normally a size 10 in jeans but at the moment I'm a 12-14 with this belly Would you recommend a 10? or size bigger? Maybe a larger size would last me longer
