Typical banal love story -- my ex-husband (we met in grad school) took a job in Brussels, and I followed along as I had NO idea what I wanted to do...

To make a long story short, after five years, we split up, he left Belgium for France, and I realised Brussels was home, so I stayed! It's a city that has more than its fair share of quirks, but I do enjoy it.

Boobz · 11/08/2008 14:33

Wowieeee Barbieee! That's fabulous news.

Emma, I know exactly what you're going through -- I think we just need to get the first scan over with and then we can start to relax and enjoy this pregnancy without doubting it all the time.

I am going for my mid afternoon nap. The joy of working from home (yes I know, I am very very lucky. And knackered).

Zzzzz

auntyspan · 11/08/2008 14:34

calsword I wouldn't bother seeing the GP if you've booked into see the midwife. It was just a formality with me, you have to see the doc before you can book in with the midwife.

I had a load of blood tests taken at my booking in though Lizzienun? Think it must differ from area to area.

And yes have succumbed to the maternity clothes after flashing my belly once to often last week! How much weight have we all put on? And I don't want to hear about those who have LOST weight

Hey all! Had a tiring weekend, took the kids swimming to an adventure pool with dh yesterday! Had a really small bleed last night but not overly concerned think it was just that I was doing too much! Spoke to m/wife on the phone and going for a scan on Wed morning.
I still feel bad! Queasiness seems to have settled but the tiredness is crippling me! Any one else have a bump yet? Lxx
PS Glad u r back barbie

broodymom · 11/08/2008 14:49

Has anyone got any tips on how to overcome the nausea? i am constantly feeling sick and being sick (horrible bile stuff sorry tmi) i cant face food at all even a drink of water is a struggle, i have friends comming over for the weekend and i was hoping to hide my pg till im further on but with all this sickness its going to be hard.

broodymom · 11/08/2008 14:50

hi lollipopz i dont know about a bump for me but deff bloated all my bottoms are snug!

lizziemun · 11/08/2008 15:15

They must be Auntyspan all of my booking app have been at home and i don't actually 'see' the midwife for bloods until 12weeks in bedfordshire and you only see midwife every 4 weeks and scans at 12 and 20 weeks.

Sorry you are feel bad Broodymum i can't help with the nausea as i have never sufferred with it unless i am realy tired.

Sunnydale · 11/08/2008 15:45

Poor Broodymom - that bile stuff is so grim. For me, an oatcake works a treat to stem nausea. People recommend ginger, but it's too strong for me when I feel sick. Plus (and how sad am I ) oatcakes come in a surprisingly large variety of flavours. Cheese. Herb. Berry. I know, I know - I need to get a life. I feel most sick when I don't eat regularly enough - ie every two hours, not just three times a day (not enough right now). I'm really sorry to hear of your bleeds, Barbie1, and I hope everything is now okay, I'm sure it will be. My friend had two huge bleeds at 7w and 9w, but gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
As for disguising my bump - finding it v hard at work as don't want to tell anyone till 12w scan, so am wearing baggy smock style dresses even though woefully out of fashion.

Slickbird · 11/08/2008 15:55

Just found all you March ladies! Can I join in? I'm due March 5th and this is my third Got 2DD's (7 yrs and 11 months!)so this was all a surprise. Am feeling and being sick sick sick, BUT not as bed ridden as I was with the first two, so perhaps a boy? Am 10.5 weeks and really hoping it doesn't last til 21 weeks this time. It's so much harder with other kids to look after too and going to work PT every morning where I have to get the train and be at my desk for 8.30am - I really want to be able to stay in bed! Ahhh the heady world of responsibilities! Hope you're all keeping well.

turkishdelightful · 11/08/2008 16:34

Is being sick a good sign of a healthy pregnancy? Now worried 'cos I'm not at all sick... a tad tired but not as much as some seem to be on here.

I'm nearly 41 - any 40+ pregnant women who can't quite believe this is all happening?

turkishdelightful · 11/08/2008 17:02

Thanks for adding me, my EDD is early March. I'm still in denial though...

grinningbee · 11/08/2008 17:26

There really must have been something in the water in June... hello to all the new people, and congratulations!

Barbie so glad to see you back. I can only imagine how horrible this last week has been for you.

So...

I went for my early scan today. It was a little sad as the last time I was there was for the mmc. Sat in the waiting room for ages sweating as the heat is soooo high in there!

I saw the same lady that did the scan before and she remembered us, which was nice.

And the outcome is... I'm having a jellybean!!! At least, that's what it looks like to me, lol. Good strong heartbeat, and they've put bean at 7 weeks + 1 which is around what we thought.

I don't mind telling you that it was all rather emotional, and I still can't believe I saw him/her today. Even better was that they gave us two pictures, and they didn't cost anything either!

All in all, a good day. I'm sure I'll still worry just as much though.

sweetkitty · 11/08/2008 17:34

Grinningbee - I remember you from the mc thread and just wanted to say congratulations on your scan heres to a good and uneventful pregnancy for you. My own little miracle is 4 weeks already.

Sorry blatant hijack

grinningbee · 11/08/2008 17:41

Sweetkitty! Hello!

That's brilliant news, I'm so pleased for you. It's funny when you look back. I know I never thought it would happen for me. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed...

As an aside, I was using the clearblue fertility monitor. It clearly didn't do its job. I used it since January, and the last two cycles before the bfp, it didn't show that I'd ovulated! I was going to go to the gp after my period.... which never arrived.... hahahaha!

lizziemun · 11/08/2008 17:52

turkishdelightful

This my 4th pregnancy and the only one i had sickness with was the i miscarriaged . Hence why it was a shock when i found out i am pregnant. I only tested to prove mum wrong i think i am about 10weeks but could be 13 weeks. So i could be due from 14/2/09 or 7/3/09 i think it March rather then Feb.

I not quite 40 but i will be 39 when i have this 'surprise'pg.

twocutedarlings · 11/08/2008 17:57

Barbie WOW WOW WOW !!!! I am over the Moon for you, how amazing is that!!!

Boobz · 11/08/2008 18:01

Yay for you Grinningbee - well done! Am so jealous you've had your scan already - am still days and days away....

x

rubyring · 11/08/2008 20:28

hello all! It's nice to read your stories.I'm due end of march in a bit of limbo land waiting for scan date- this will be number 3 for me blimey! My dd's are nearly 3 and nearly 1, god we are going to be busy next year!!! Feel dreadfully sick and spotty and hormonal not yet been sick, but seem to need to eat a lot to combat it! Definitely look about 4 mths gone already oh dear! Particularly fond of cheap ready salted crisps and marmite at the mo. But chicken and mince just turn my stomach urgh! Just wondering if anyone got cravings and what they are. Apologies if you've already talked about it I've just sort of jumped to last page of thread as my brain is shutting down! Got dd's big 1st bday party on Sat the thought of the party food makes me want to spew! Apart from the crisps of course! Take care ladies! xxx

laweaselmys · 11/08/2008 20:54

Today I went to blockbusters and bought a huge bag of salted popcorn because I was absolutely desperate for salt and crispy popcorn and it was the last place open! I think I am already at the mercy of my cravings.

goldmother2b · 11/08/2008 22:14

hello ladies
congratulations and welcome to the newbies and WOW Barbie - that's amazing, I am so pleased for you and your DP.

I wenty for my scan today (11 weeks) and by the time I arrived I had convinced myself that my worst fears would be realised...anyway that was not the case, I saw my bean - more of a monkey nut actually - waving his little arms and legs - it was the most amazing thing ever and very emotional too. I think my DH finally believes its all going to happen!

livismum · 12/08/2008 09:16

Morning Ladies after thinking i had it easy with morning sickness it has kicked in good and proper! with DD i only felt it but no this time am actually sick urrrgggghhh! Nearly got rumbled by FIL yest he was waiting for loo when i was being sick!

Emma I have been getting really bad cramps and pain too and had a very very small bleed on fri night as well but GP was fairly positive and said pain as long as its more twinge like should be ok, he said he would refer me if i was really worried but as im seeing MW on thurs will talk to her bout it first, definately a worry though!

Fingers crossed for lots more jumping beans! xx

titchy77 · 12/08/2008 09:35

Hello all. can i join you too? I got my bfp a few weeks ago, but have felt reluctant to post as have has 3 m/c before. I have a dh, and 2 dc, 1 ds who is 10 and dd who is 18 months. I went for a scan last tuesday and while I thought i was 7 and half weeks, the scan has put me at 6 weeks 2 days, due date 29.03.2009, it has scared me a bit as i am over a week behind what i thought and last time that happened i miscarried. They measured the CRL at 6.8mm and saw a heartbeat which is a good sign, still feeling very nervous though. My gp also rang the same day to tell me I tested positive for anticardiolipin antibodies(had the blood test done in june after i pushed for it as having 3 m/c and had problems carrying my dd, she had IUGR, olihydraminos (sp?) and raised dopplers, gp felt these may be associated with maybe these antibodies. So the gp arranged an urgent referral to the consultant at the hospital, had my booking in yetsreday and have the consultant on thurs, where hopefully i will find out a bit more about it and maybe prescribed baby asprin, so things are moving quickly for me. I think I will mention my worries about the scan to the consultant as I just can't relax at all, although my (.)(.) are v.sore and fell very sick & tired! Good news that the scans seem to be going well! Hope everyone is feeling a bit less sick today although I'm not, been sat on the sofe feeling bleugh since I got up...but them I am on annual leave so allowed to be lazy

SHABOOBLY · 12/08/2008 09:39

Hi
I am also due March 18th 2008. Please could you add ne to the list.

This is my third baby. I have a little girl of 2 and a half and sadly our second daughter died an hour after she was born last september .
Has anyone else been having abdominal pains?Thisnk it is just ligaments but did not have this with the other two.

corgikelly · 12/08/2008 10:48

Hi titchy - sounds like we're in the same boat, measurement-wise. I also had a smaller-than-expected fetus at my 7-week scan last week and am headed back to the fertility clinic tomorrow for a follow-up. Will be sending bean-growth vibes your way.
