Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babyinbelly · 10/08/2008 20:53

I conceived in june. It was my birthday. Dont know if that helped!!!

MKG · 11/08/2008 00:22

Baby!! I had sex the night before my birthday, Happy Birthday to us!

I can't wait to stop taking these antibiotics they are so messing with my body right now. They are what is making me feel sick to my stomach all day.

broodymom · 11/08/2008 09:27

Hi can i join? I think i'm due on 29th march according to online calculator thing. I have 2 dds aged 7 and 8 (9 in Oct)

emma2617 · 11/08/2008 10:24

Morning ladies! Even more additions to the March 09 club...impressive!! I am so tired, not sickly at all, but beet tired! I have been ill all weekend though, not sick but constant diarrhoea (sorry...TMI!) so not at work today as I am still suffering the after effects!!

I really can't wait until tomorrow, its scan day!! I am still thinking I have just convinced myself I'm pregnant and its all a load of rubbish...even though I had the hcg bloods which were 3000!! I am such a head case!!

Hope everyone is well today!

calsworld · 11/08/2008 10:41

Morning all, been AWOL doing up the garden and drive whilst coping with DS (1yr 8months) with chicken pox . Its been a very tough week as he's been very clingy, and I've been exhausted! A couple of times I had to go out with him (left him in car so as not to inflict CP on any non-immune pregnant people!) and he fell asleep - I was very close to ringing DH and saying I wouldn't be back for a while as had to pull over and sleep when he did, but alas, was not to be and I battled on.

Out the other side now and really glad its over with, also glad he's had it and will be immune for when the next bout goes around - don't think I could cope with two LO's with CP at the same time!

I don't know how far along I am at all, have completely lost track and fed up of trying to guess...my MW appt is next Monday so hopefully we'll get my scan booked during that (at least, that's what they did last time) and all will become clear!

So far, I've (only ) told my mum and dad, MIL & FIL, and a couple of my close friends, although DH doesn't know I have. I was struggling with waist bands but seem to have shrunk a little bit again - so hope that early bloating was just down to water retention. I'm not feeling very sick, at least not as much as last time that's for sure, although have had a couple of very wobbly moments when I've left eating till very late. (Queue mad dash for B&Q cafe!)

The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm due towards the end of the month, which I was last time too - and its really crap being 4 weeks behind some of you! Am very jealous of all those at the 11 /12 week mark!

broodymom · 11/08/2008 10:53

hi seems like a silly Q but when should i see my gp? its been so long i cant remember what to do i think i'm 7 weeks is it too early to see gp? thanks x

babyinbelly · 11/08/2008 11:09

I saw gp asap at 4w+5. Best thing to do as this time round they automatically sent me appt for mw and scan. I didn't have to book like I did last time as gp sent of forms and they gave me a time from hospital.

Pleased to announce on the sick/tired note that I am having a good day today. Actually managed some housework. First time in a month!!! Poor DP

lizziemun · 11/08/2008 11:48

I saw the gp as soon as i found out, although this more to do with the fact i have no idea when i am due (between 10 and 13 weeks). I had to phone the midwife and make a booking appointment with her.

corgikelly · 11/08/2008 11:51

I posted on the main Pregnancy board earlier about a smaller-than-desired fetus on my 7-week scan Thursday, but as my EDD is late March, I wondered if any of you might have gone through this... (I also just realised I posted mistakenly on the main Ante-natal clubs board - oops.)

I freaked out when the technician told me the heart rate and fetal size were a bit low/small and I'd need a follow-up scan next week to see if things were going to develop properly. And, yes, regrettably, started Googling.

It seems to me that the heart rate, CRL and gestational sac diametre are all within a week of normal, so I'm thinking positive thoughts about a later-than-foreseen implantation (we used IUI) and trying not to fuss about them.

My HUGE concern: yolk sac diameter was 4.9 mm. Normal would be 2.9 mm. I've found a dozen studies that say a larger than normal YS is associated with adverse outcome in the fetus. In general, a YS diameter of greater than 5.6 mm before 10 weeks is predictive of embryonic demise or gross chromosomal abnormality.

I don't know how I'm going to last until the next scan on Wednesday. This weekend was AWFUL. And what I don't understand is why what seems to be the scariest piece of the puzzle, the yolk sac, wasn't even MENTIONED by the technician.

Has anyone here had an abnormally large YS? What has your doctor said?

barbie1 · 11/08/2008 12:29

hi girlies mind if i join you (again?!) god what i week i have had since posting my last message...as you know i started bleeding, cramping, no symptoms etc and upon an internall was told it was all over and to go home to start bleeding, well i did bleed, and cramp and all manner of horrible stuff, called my husband in korea in tears and he booked for first flight home which is today arriving tomorrow...well today i had a scan to see whether a d&c was needed but they saw a baby!!!! well more a sac with a heartbeat but its still there!!!!!! im only 6 weeks + something my dates must of been well wrong but i think i just about squeeze into march... i have to wait until the normal 12 weeks scan now to make sure everything is going ok, so i guess u didnt get away with no symptoms at all as the past weekend i have been soooooo tired, hungry, tearfull etc...roll on the morning sickness! xx

auntyspan · 11/08/2008 12:36

Corgi this happened to one of my best friends - she had a large sac and small 'blob' (as she put it) and she had to have regular scans to find out what was happening. She was eventually fine, it sort of 'caught up with itself' and the consultant put it down to the fact the foetuses develop at such different rates. She had a nuchal fold at 12 weeks to make sure, but as I said there was no problems. She's now 32 weeks with a little boy.

I wouldn't read too much into what you're seeing on Google... and jut try and take it easy for the next couple of days (easier said than done I know )

Wow barbie1 that's amazing! What an emotional roller coaster. Congratulations, so happy for you. Have been thinking of you.

Hi broodymom welcome & congratulations!

I hope everyone's well.
Now everyone's told me the booking appt. is long and boring but what actually happens? Internal/external exem/s? Blood/urin tests? Opportunity to discuss birthing options (or should I say lack of?) Mine is Wed 13th. Thanks! x

corgikelly · 11/08/2008 12:43

Thanks auntyspan - your real-life success story is MUCH appreciated!

In the interest of positive thinking, then, I may as well introduce myself -- I'm 37 and this is my first pregnancy (fell pregnant after very first IUI - was SHOCKED).

My due date should be 26th March, and I'm an ex-American living in Brussels (any other expats on the board?).

Looking forward to being with you ladies for a lovely long time...

lizziemun · 11/08/2008 12:51

Mandy73

They just taken a history yours and dh/p also a family history and ask a few qustions about religon and domestic violence. And answer questions you have. Mine took about 40mins last week. They will also give you your note to keep and a load of books, plamflets with infomation to read.

Bloods/examination arn't done until later.

calsworld · 11/08/2008 12:55

Mandy, IME the booking appt involved talking about your medical history and that of your parents, determining that you are happy with pg (they have to ask), considering whether or not you will need consultants involvement (all sorts of pre-existing medical conditions can warrant this and it just means that you'll go to see a consultant at the hospital to discuss them).

If its not your first then I think they go through all the details of your first as it can provide an inkling of what could happen second time around.

Again, IME, they don't do internals and they don't do externals as is normally too early too feel anything, but could be wrong. They weigh you, check your height, take your blood pressure and talk to you about general health (what to avoid, what to supplement with), they can also discuss fitness and activity

I'd recommend asking about aquanatal classes around you or other pregnancy relaxation classes as you can get paid time off work to attend these if the MW says it will benefit you - and in most cases they can't say it won't benefit you! I wish I'd started these classes earlier as it was a lovely way to spend one morning a week and I really found it eased my MS!

Also, ask about when you can have your MATB1 form as you need this to get entitlement to free prescriptions, and some other benefits!

That's all i can think of for now.......

MKG · 11/08/2008 12:56

Welcome Corgi! Barbie I'm so happy for you!

Corgi-I'm not an expat, but am an American living in New Jersey. Where are you originally from?

calsworld · 11/08/2008 13:00

Barbie1 - just read your post, OMG! What a truly difficult time for you and your husband, I really hope you can relax now and enjoy your pregnancy, fingers crossed that it runs smootly from now on. V Pleased your DH is coming home as I imagine you really need his support right now.

Corgi - i would reiterate what was said on your other thread, STOP GOOGLING , although I know I'd be doing the same! If there was a problem with the YS I'm sure they'd tell you, just relax and go with the flow as much as possible until your next scan, worrying won't do either of you any good.

I know its not the done thing, but sending you both a few and hope things get better for you both.

I feel physically great today - no nausea, no sore boobs and can fit into my trousers. WTF? I almost feel chirpy too.

Beginning to feel a bit concerned . Do you think I should see the doctor? I haven't done so yet but have MW appt booked next week. What do you reckon?

HopingCat · 11/08/2008 13:17

Booking in appt - my appointment in last pg included blood tests and urine test as well as talking about family history of illnesses. Think it will this time too but have not had it yet. I've been sent appt but unfortunately am away for a few days and so can't do the day they gave me.

I'm starting to struggle finding clothes that adequately hide the bump. My trousers all fit as the bump is quite high, but I think people at work will guess soon as my blouses and jumpers seem to cling in the wrong places. I'm not even 10 weeks yet. Anyone else finding they have no bump in morning and it appears through the day?

corgikelly · 11/08/2008 13:20

MKG, I came to Belgium almost 9 years ago after 7 years in New Jersey (grad school - Princeton). My parents live in Seattle.

Yes ma'am, calsworld . I've not googled at all today (baby steps, baby steps). I was asking a friend who's just had her fourth the other day about the "transience" of symptoms, and she said hers waxed and waned through all her pregnancies. So it doesn't seem worrisome that you're having a good day (says the Queen of Worries) - enjoy it!

laweaselmys · 11/08/2008 13:22

Absolutely HopingCat In fact I gave up and brought some maternity trousers on saturday, because it was annoying me so much having to undo the buttons all the time.Plus was swayed by the opinion on MN that buying a normal size bigger was a waste of money.

emma2617 · 11/08/2008 13:25

Wow barbie congratulations!! Can't believe how rough a time you've had, hope its all good from now on!!

I am having really bad cramping today! It is very central though, more like a really bad menstrual cramp, I am trying not to stress out too much but this really hurts!! Am I just imagining it just in case scan doesn't go too well?! As you can tell I am a worst case scenario kind of person, and right now it is doing my head in!!

MKG · 11/08/2008 13:32

OMG I live in Flemington, like 30 min from Princeton.

Playingthe9monthwait · 11/08/2008 13:43

Afternoon all,

Just quickly checking in!

Welcome all our newbie - this thread is really growing!

Barbie - I can't believe what an emotional rollercoaster you have been on!! So lovely to see you back.

HW - glad all was well with you scan.

Corgi - no personal experience but will also join in the the advice that google will just scare you!

Can't remember anything else that I was going to post now, too tired and sick to think straight at all today.

corgikelly · 11/08/2008 13:48

I don't miss much about the US -- but central NJ will always be one of my favourite places in the world. Lots of good memories, and just plain gorgeous to boot!

MKG · 11/08/2008 13:54

I know, although I did go to graduate school in Tucson and those desert sunsets are awesome.

Oh well, what brought you to Brussels.
