sarahnh · 23/07/2008 12:38

why oh why do we have to feel so bad when this is going to be the last couple of weeks before mayhem kicks in???

getting loads of niggly cramps as well but kind of know in my heart that my body is just one of those annoying ones that has to gear up for anything!!! sorry sorry sorry i'm such a moaning minnie today

so pleased you are ok cc and that you had a good night ts... for those who are doing housie chores please come to my house and do mine, i have done nothing bar my pukey shopping!!!!!

miamla · 23/07/2008 12:43

hi all, i'm feeling alot more jolly today which is cool. got loads of painting done by 11 this morning so having a relax now although i can hear my sewing machine and fabric calling me....

CC you're such a rebel for leaving your bag at home!

preg1 your pushchair is going to clash horribly with my green pushchair..they'll certainly see us coming in the Broadway!!

Ilana congratulations on Saul's arrival. I can only echo what everyone else has said, I really do hope he's back in your arms very soon and home with you and your boys.

TS deary me girl, have you still not had that baby?? well done for sounding so at ease with everything. Just remember, Reese will arrive when she knows you're all ready for her.

DD lovely to hear from you. In my experience it really is at times like this when you discover how warped your family's humour is. I'm so pleased that you have them to support you and that the hospice staff are looking after you as well.

albs almost there! make sure your DH knows how/where to post news! ooh, or if you prefer, get him to text me and i'll post it on here for you

hello and waves to all the newbies, welcome to our crazy world but at least there are less of us in denial about what we're actually here for!

i'm off now to try and make use of the slither of energy i've got left

ataraxis · 23/07/2008 12:48

Afternoon all. CC, glad you are ok - my DH is like that about waiting, much easier on my own...

sazzles, glad everything is ok. Well done you on being clear and strong on what you wanted. They do try to push you into things don't they...

sibh... no way!!! Just be SO grumpy, and when they ask you why, say you aren't able to get any sleep because of airbet/bump combo.

albs, good luck for tomorrow. Hope it all goes well.

dizzy, glad you are doing ok. Sending you good thoughts and hugs. Have been hankering after pate following your post, finally went out and got some today - YUM!

TS, have things settled down for you a bit? You sound much happier than the last few days.

sarah, sorry you are feeling so rough. This vom thing is the pits isn't it? THought all of that was supposed to stop early on, not come back again for a resurgence later on (much like the food lots of the time).

bealcain - lacy thongs for post-baby wear? .

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 13:11

Where's that reflex point on your foot that gets contractions started!!!

sarahnh · 23/07/2008 13:16

ahhh ts... now not that i am an expert but with my reflexology session yesterday i feel a bit in the know!!!

Your big toes releases the hormone to get the contractions going... your ovaries are on the inside of your ankle.. you can press either side of both wrists as they represent the urteus(sp) and ovary... finally by moving your feet and ankles clockwise that can stimulate things....

well all of this in theory is suspose to work, it obvious haven't worked for me yet, just left me feeling ill!!!!xxx

hopes this helps xxxx

ataraxis · 23/07/2008 13:17

so does that mean if we all start rubbing our big toes we will have the babies out soon? .

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 13:19

lets try

sarahnh · 23/07/2008 13:20

you never know... worked first time for me with dd.. although i was a little further on than i am now... you just never know

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 13:23

Here's one online reflexology reference page. I've just done the thumb thing.

sarahnh · 23/07/2008 13:59

me too ts.. anything stirring??? it has just given me a massive bh

alittlebitshy · 23/07/2008 14:07

Can't even begin to catch yuo - except to say dizzy glad to see you.

pgcy1 what kind of pram have you got for the pink fabric? Am assuming a bugaboo of some sort as i can't think of many where fabric is separate, but am intrigued. Look fwd to seeing said pram in a few weeks.

I go to the hosp in 5.5 hours. eek. dd being quite clingy today but is generally happy. I'm knackered and have had enough!!!

Buckets · 23/07/2008 14:16

TS I assume you're already nipple-twiddling for the good ole US of A to get contractions going again.

I have nothing to complain about today so why am I feeling so irritable? Heat and hormones I guess.

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 14:29

Low crampiness now. Rubbing feet. Pressing thumbs. What's the nipple thing, Buckets? That wasn't on the reflexology page. Sarah did your reflexologist monkey with your nipples?

This stuff may not end in a birth today but maybe it will get things going for my Saturday target date!!!!

Buckets · 23/07/2008 14:49

Tweaking your nipples stimulates oxytocin (think letdown relfex) - bit more scientific than reflexology . Standard prescription over here for post term ladies, along with curry, wine, pineapple and sex (prostaglandins for a ripening cervix.) Don't try and do it all in one night like my sister did or you'll have a big mess of vomit to clean up LOL.

poppysocks · 23/07/2008 14:52

Will watch with interest to see whether any of this works... Like you Buckets, I have a bit of a VBAC fantasy that SO won't be happening, but it's nice to (half ) hope. Spoke to midwife yesterday about the likelihood of this one turning up early, DD having been so late. She said that if anything the fact that she was breech makes her lateness even more remarkable and that as this one isn't, if left to her own devices could take even longer . Maybe the elective is the best! Agree though Sazzles that it would seem easier if there wasn't a choice in the matter!

Sorry - what a ramble!

Good to hear from you Dizzy. Glad you're able to be there and with your family at the moment and that DH is able to support you so well. Do shout though if I can help.

IlanaK · 23/07/2008 15:01

Quick update: Saul is still in SCBU. He is needing a little less oxygen at the moment. Plans are for tomorow that they will hopefully start to wean him off the cpap machine (pushes oxygen at force into his nose). Once he is off this completely and also feeding, he can come to transitional care where I can stay with him (basically like a postnatal ward but with a neonatal nurse). I am dedicating the afternoon to pumping away like mad (luckily I already had an electric double pump at home) to try and get some milk going as they are ready to start feeding him via his gastric tube in addition to his drip. They will not let me bf him until he is off the cpap machine completely. Thanks to everyone for all their thoughts and kindness. I spend a lot of time crying at the moment as this is so NOT what I expected for my third and last baby experience. However, I am sure we will all come through it ok and forget it in time.

Just a couple of tips to the other ladies on here having csections. Due to Saul being taken of to SCBU, I ended up getting out of bed just 4 hours after the birth as I wanted to go and see him so was pretty motivated. It was the best thing I could have done as it has made me recover so much quicker than the last two times when I just stayed in bed. I really really recommend getting up and sitting if you possibly can.

Also, assuming your baby is fine, ask them to bring you him straight away at the operating table after he is born. Saul was whisked away to a resus table where they dressed him. I lay there like a lemon and really did not feel like I had had a baby at all as I could not see him. Although I got lots of skin to skin time in recovery, it still felt really strange.

Also, for all the ladies csection or not - don't be afraid to ask for food on the postnatal ward! After the section you will not be aloud to eat for a while. And of course you won't have eaten all day due to operation. I missed dinner as it was during the period I was not allowed to eat. Then I went down to SCBU. No-one offered me any food so I did not get anything until breakfast the next day. Be vocal and ask for food!

Lastly, if you have a catheter in, drink loads and loads of water. They will not take it out if your urine looks at all concentrated. You need to drink to make it clear.

Hope some of this helps!

MrsMagooo · 23/07/2008 15:06

Afternoon all - hope you're keeping cool in this hideous heat (am currently sprawled on bed with all windows open, fan beating down on me & laptop )

TS Fab link hun - have just done the thumb thing but nothing will sit & try the rest in a min How are you feeling?

Buckets lol at your sister trying everything in one go & being sick!!

Sazzles glad everything went well at your appt. Very well done on not taking any crap being firm in what you want!

IlanaK My thoughts are with you & Saul - I hope he is growing stronger.

CC You rebel you not taking your bags

Dizzy thinking of you hun {{{{hugs}}}}

Been getting lots of niggles & back ache & the pressure in my bum/lady bits is huge - feels like Little Man is going to drop out my bum any second but been like this for days so doubt very much it's going to come to anything.

stillhere · 23/07/2008 15:30

IlanaK thanks for the update - it sounds like things are moving in the right direction for you and Saul, so keep your chin up - it must be terribly hard, what with all the post-operative and hormonal stuff kicking around and all. Thinking of you all. [hugs]

CC well done you! And an 11am wake up to boot!!

ALBS - tomorrow already?! Will be sending positive thoughts your way.

Baking here but in a real muggy, needs to rain type way, not nice summer hot. Bring back the rain....

Buckets · 23/07/2008 15:38

Oh that sounds positive Ilana, hope you're stuffing yourself today to get that milk going . In fact, could you get someone to book you a relaxation treatment from a mobile therapist/beautician? Head massage or something would probably do you the world of good and consequently the old milk production too.

CC good to see you out and about again.

ChaCha · 23/07/2008 15:48

Ilana - Excellent advice, had forgotten about the trips to loo and cardboard pee boxes to check urine before removal of catheter. Didn't see DS1 after emergency section but had DS2 placed on my chest immediately after - definitely whole different experience. Hopefully God willing Saul will be b/f and with you asap - hope your boys at home are fine and you and family coping well. Chin up and hugs from all here [hugs]

Also being sick here today and ankles still have doughnut shapes around them. I don't know how i manage when no one is around as when my mum is up i seem to go into total meltdown. Had lunch ready for everyone on table and then when we'd all eaten i just collapsed. Had anyone else been sick since early pregnancy - i am sick of being sick!

CC - Glad all is well but lol at mw student and 'hun' 'chick'.

Have not v.much to say. Want to just moan and groan - i hate my new look legs!!!!!!! Sorry, feel like total crapolla, want to do so much and cant. Love to all x

ChaCha · 23/07/2008 15:50

nothing like bringing a drop of cheer to the thread........ sorry!

and Yes, agree, bring back the bloody rain. What the hell is this?

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 16:00

DD just displayed her BAD SIDE. Hopefully MIL won't ask to leave this evening. Not sure why she fussed but now she's asleep.

Just wandering around the house with little to do, eating stawberries and grapes. Boredom has set in.

Not much action from the reflex stuff. Although the thumb thing makes me feel like I'm wearing vice-grip underwear.

AnnVan · 23/07/2008 16:00

ChaCha - I'm with you on the whole sick thing. i had hyperemesis (sp?) for the first 4 months.Have had a few weeks in which I felt ok, and now back to throwing up
And I still have 6 weeks to go! Roll on due date!

bealcain · 23/07/2008 16:00

ok so idid the thumb thing.....quite a bit low back ache and bh's, but how are you ladies reaching your feet??? i cant even see them let alone massage them!!

llana glad things are looking a bit more positve.

Albs aaaaahhhh that's not long!

As for heat, thank god i'm craving ice not hot chocolate!

MrsMagooo · 23/07/2008 16:22

Am I doing the thumb thing wrong 'cause I'm getting bugger all

Gave up trying to reach my feet
