hi

Sibh · 23/07/2008 04:20

I've been away with my sister's wedding and than busy with visitors from England so I'm finally catching up in the small hours. Hello to everyone.

Ilana--welcome to Saul, and every best wish to you and your family. It must be so hard to leave him in SCBU, and I hope he's back in your arms and thriving as soon as possible. We're all thinking of you.

Lots of thoughts and support to Dizzy and CC aswell in these uncertain times.

That's great news for you, Sazzles, though. All the oblique babies have seen the light now! Good for you for speaking up for yourself in the hospital. It can be so difficult to do that, no matter how assertive we are in RL.

And happy birthday to mini-VG as well. How does your DS feel about the changes coming up VG, now that he's such a grownup himself?

TS I hope things are either more comfortable or progressing at more of a clip for you. I'm not sure how you're keeping going at this stage.

Things are fine here--although our very nice houseguests took our bed without a quibble or thanks which has landed me on, and more often bounced me off, the airbed. So I'm pottering around with restless legs, muttering like Mutley. Two nights down, and one to go ...

I can't see this baby staying in for another three weeks. Dancing until 4am at my sister's wedding may have moved the birthday forward a small bit.

Oh and Longway allow me to bop your doctor from here. They talk a whole lot of nonsense on the weight gain thing as with all else. Glad to see you've taken the mumsnet inoculation against vile consultant talk ...

See you all later - off to get some breakfast wtf I am doing on here so early!

Morning ladies,

Can't remember everyone's news as i skimmed through before bed, do however remember that Sazzles had some good news and all seems well. Hurray! And a section date too just in case - was my SPD pain that had me going from VBAC to section last year - hope you get the VBAC you want - well done!

ALBS - Is it your big day tomorrow? Are you ready? Guess you've already had your pre-assessment now. I am already nervous and still have a week to go...eeek!

Hopefully my mum is up later, DH's head cold seems to have found its way to me and I feel a bit bleugh. Tis his b'day at weekend and have no idea what to get him.....at all!

bealcain · 23/07/2008 07:58

morning all

TS glad to have you back. ours girls are gona be proper little madams aren't they??

dizzy thinking of you and your girls hun

albs WOW you;re gona have a baby tomorrow....aaaaaahhhhh. Hows the sling thing going?need anymore help?

gigglegirl thanks for reminder re: big knickers, i'd forgotten though. Although unlike some i didn't pack lacy thongs!

dizzydixies · 23/07/2008 08:04

morning all - just a very quick post from me.

lovely new thread PF and I've tried to catch up but head is a bit mince so forgive me

TS hope Reese is behaving a bit more for you

sibh am with Sazz here - throw them the sod out of your bed - its either two men or some woman who's never been pregnant

CC thank you for adding me to prayer thread. the hospice has a lovely priest who comes in everynight, even though he's retired, and gives her a blessing which is very nice as my mum's beloved minister is away on holiday this week - we did have the lay preacher in with us yesterday which was very good of him. The priest is hysterical - VG am not meaning to offend here - but you couldn't get more of a stereotypical southern irish priest if you tried - my aunt is terrible and gets what she calls the father ted giggles

hope you're well this morning too CC and not too worried about yesterday - please let me know when you hear as I'll be thinking about you

sazz all sounds like a cunning plan, I WILL get that book sent off to you even if I have to drive down with it myself

happy birthday master VG am sorry if I've missed it but am hoping you've finished work and are now indulging in long walks round the avoca cafe

welcome to all new this is the loveliest board

poppy I got your email thank you SO much. I just haven't had a second to reply dh is off till Sat so carrying on with the girls like a trooper - there is no need for them to be through here for this. Am trying not to get too anxious that the house hasn't been sorted and nothing ready for hosp/baby but am figuring somehow baby knows mum isn't ready at the moment and to give me a bit more time - am I the only one wishing this ?!?

started birthplan last night - copied from thread that cc started so thank you and apparently nursing bras have turned up at home so surely that counts for something?!

dh been sent to look at a car today (without me god help us) - I must have the only dh in the world thats not interested in looking at cars maybe if is was a DB9 he's be a tad more enthusiastic!!

IlanaK congratulations on the birth of baby Saul, I do hope he is improving with every day and you're finding some comfort in the care he is receiving and not trying to do too much yourself

thank you ALL for your kind thoughts, it is a rather trying time at the moment Mum is still clinging on and I feel terrible saying it but we all now wish she would just find peace. Her breatheing is erratic and she may be aware that we are with her but we're not sure.

we are taking comfort where we can get it, my dad and aunts were sitting in the room drinking red wine and eating hula hoops yesterday which I found to be the MOST surreal experience of my life to date and we ordered in some pizza for tea and everyone was hurting themselves laughing as mine arrived and it was the size of a fecking digestive biscuit with topping on it

the staff at the hospice are just wonderful and make sure we're all looked after as well - especially me which is lovely although sometimes the kindness of strangers is just a bit too much for me

mum's room has a pull down bed and a huge reclining chair so we've been playing musical beds for the last two night, am now at home to see to dad's workmen (perfect timing ) and grab a shower before going back in as I'm past the pleasant point now

love to you all and for those who are sore or uncomfortable please remember we're on the final stretch and hopefully in a months time we'll all be laughing about it

I'll try to pop back in when I can, am sorry I'm missing such a lovely time for us all. Huge thank you's to CC and sazz who are keeping me up to date with texts

dizzydixies · 23/07/2008 08:10

for huge post - hope you're at least all sitting comfortably

contributes big round of bacon rolls for all for breakfast - help yourselves to red or brown sauce

before dashing off again

DutchOma · 23/07/2008 08:53

Anyone heard from CaptainCaveman? Sorry to butt in on your thread, definitely don't belong here, more's the pity

cyteen · 23/07/2008 09:16

Ah dizzy it's amazing to hear you so lively and positive considering all you're going through right now...I'm glad you and the rest of the family are managing to find those moments of humour amid the grimness. It's such a bizarre time isn't it? And I know what you mean about wanting your mum to find peace now, I think everyone who's had to see someone they love go through this ends up feeling the same. During my brother's last week we were told to prepare ourselves on the Monday as he had crashed quite dramatically, lost loads of blood, had last ditch surgical treatment etc. - we sat with him all night listening to his breathing, wondering which breath would be his last, drifting off to sleep and waking up in a panic...come Tuesday morning the stubborn sod had stabilised and was hanging on in there, typical of him really It turned out to be a wonderful gift to have those last three days with him, as he slipped away gradually and quietly rather than amidst loads of drama, but that morning was very hard because we had all been ready to say goodbye and the thought of maybe having to watch him struggle again was too awful.

Anyway, this is not about me Just wanted to say that we are all here with you and wishing nothing but peace to all the dixie clan xx

Likewise to everyone walking the hard road today - positive thoughts and hugs to Ilana and little Saul, CC, and everyone else grappling with aches, pains, inconsiderate house guests, imminent LOs, sudden bin-vomiting and DP issues...

Buckets · 23/07/2008 10:14

Yay Sazzles, that was amazing work with the registrar! Anyone else going for a VBAC take notes, you can go in the pool! I'm planning to put my VBAC birthplan on a large post-it note in my notes, just in case I get to hospital and chicken out then I can whip it out and nobody will know I ever considered anything other than CSec. Little DS2 is showing no signs of an early arrival though anyway.
Also, yes I understand totally about your DH's attitude, have seen it all my life with my parents (had their ruby anniversary this yr so take heart). And DS is only 3 but it's clear he thinks very little of anyone's opinions/skills other than Grandpa's. Ah, they're sweeties really, the Children of the Asparagus.

ChaCha · 23/07/2008 10:20

Am popping on again, successfully loaded washing machine after about 20 minutes of trying Perhaps an allocated 60minutes to make all our lunch, 60 minutes to hang washing (oh and 60 minutes to bring yesterday's indoors) and 60 minutes to load dishwasher and we might quite literally be able to call it a day!!!

DD - Lovely post from you.
TS - How are you feeling today? I had some time to read through the very first thread you linked us too and had totally forgotten that i'd tested positive on DS1's 2nd birthday last December - enjoyed reading through old posts - bit like having an online blog!

CC - Did she go into hospital yesterday? What for? And has no one heard from her yet?

PF - I read your post about nursery mix up and something to do with DH and the number 4 but could not remember what it was. Is everything okay now?

Thinking there will be many breaks today. Just can't do much.

stillhere · 23/07/2008 10:35

Just a quick one (no, really!) to wish Dizzy all the best - lovely to hear from you and wishing you strength.

And just to say - airbeds, no!!! I'm too polite not to offer someone my bed but in that scenario I think you need DH or someone else to speak up for the bump and bumpholder.

Hope you're okay CC and all went well at the hospital. Will check in later for more updates - reading this board makes me realise that all the stuff I'm dealing with here at the moment is small fry , which is a good thing I think.

Enjoying those bacon butties and tea...

All my thoughts are with those having a hard time of it at the mo xx

I know how you feel Chacha I got home from work last night (via a sauna they call the tube) and thought I'd make some muffins for my last NCT class today. Put a load of washing on, made 2 batches of muffins and some potato salad for dinner and by the time DH came home I could barely stand and was too exhausted to do anything. Can't believe how tiring being pregnant is - goodness knows how people cope with children too....

On the good news I've finally got my bright pink fabric for my Bean's pram and have just put it on - I was slightly concerned that shocking pink would be too garish, but love it (and it is too garish, but that's what makes it fab )

Anyway, enough insignificant rambles - thinking of everyone. Keep us updated xx

Chacha I think CC went in becuase of her headaches. She caled the mw who came round to see her and found she had high bp and told her to go in at 7pm last night.

Buckets · 23/07/2008 10:51

Yep, this is my fantasy VBAC that has about 1% chance of happening when you factor in chance of spontaneous labour before 39wks combined with me being brave/tough enough if it actually did happen. 1st choice of pain relief would be pool but I'm not mentioning it in my birthplan (which is very short):

'Please do not ask me questions during a contraction.
Please do not offer me pain relief, I will ask if I need it.
No artificial rupture of membranes unless absolutely necessary.
As long as my baby is happy and healthy I want no time limits placed on third stage. Umbilical cord to be clamped after it has stopped pulsating.'

Buckets · 23/07/2008 10:56

Forgot to say that I'm not mentioning pool or being monitored by the bed not on my back because that's just something you have to fight for at the time I think. I've heard they may try to fob you off for their own convenience but you have to just keep asking 'Why? How does that benefit me and my baby?'

CaptainCaveman · 23/07/2008 11:55

Tis I!!! Many many thanks for your kind thoughts and posts, it really does mean a lot. I only just woke up at 11.10

Arrived at the assessemnt unit (which is added on to labour suite) as planned. Was seen by a lovely student mw who did all the checks - of course urine was negative to protein and of course, bp was back to near normal (although I was not impressed with being called 'hun' 'chick' and 'darling' by said student mw!) Monitored on the CTG for an hour and is well with baby 'Jerry' too. Then had to wait 2 hours to see the dr. Dh arrived with ds after about 1.5 hours so they ended up waiting with me for an hour and 3/4 - dh is not known for his patience so you can imagine the 'fun' of explaining why other ladies may be more of a priority than me!!

The curtains-which-double-as-sound-proofed-walls made me smile - I heard the mw's saying what a fantastic trace I had produced (CTG), text book in fact (not that I can claim any credit for that!). And when the student said to the mw that I was booked in for cs again for another breech, her reply was "ooh, funny uterus"

Anyway, the long and the short of it is they are waiting for my blood test results and will ring me if there is a problem, otherwise they call me back to clinic next week. In the meantime, if I get any more headaches like the ones which wake me up, or abdo pain, or anything that worries me, or I go into labour etc etc, I am to call straight back and go in to be checked. Phew. Glad to be home.

Got to go and eat, will catch up with you all later but just wanted to let you know all is well and I didn't take my bag in with me!

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 12:06

I just emailed Captain. MrCaptain emailed back last time so we'll wait and see. I hope she's fine.

Slept through the night. If memory serves I did a lot of sleeping in the days leading up to DD1's birth. Tummy still tightening. Otherwise all is well here.

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 12:06

ta da..
there she is!!!

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2008 12:09

Glad your tip top Captain. Nice call not taking your bag.
